  1. @Zargerth I see that your Normal mono had a certain effect on yourself I'm planning to do one myself, and starting with a shiny Deerling I caught in one of my previous runs and remains boxed for the time being... My favourite 'mon boxed, it isn't right! @Azeria @Wolfox I like Fighting types too... But they don't really offer coverage... It's a constant effort to brute force your way through everything. Little setup, little to zero status moves you can rely on, not good secondary types... I don't see how I could adapt into it. Especially with my playstyle, which heavily relies on setup and status moves (cause Bug/Poison).
  2. The glitched double battle trainer in Grand Hall is a godsend for grinding! Also, Helping Hand turns out to be more useful than I thought in Doubles! Great start, enjoyed watching When are you gonna stream the next part?
  3. @Azeria I tend to take a liking for Pokemon that are either elegant, cute or overall underrated/underappreciated by the community... And Slowking is none of those three @Wolfox My fav Water type overall is Swanna. I love that beautiful lil thing, lol
  4. @Azeria @Hycrox I didn't talk shit about them. I just said that I find their design and/or playstyle boring. I dislike water type in general, so speaking about stuff like Alomomola, Basculine, Mantine, etc. wouldn't be necessary. Grass: 30 Dragon: 8 Electric: 13 Steel: 10 Fire: 8 Ground: 19 Ice: 25 Fight: 20 Normal: 16 Ghost: 20 Dark: 17 Bug: 27 Flying: 13 Rock: 18 Poison: 19 Psychic: 6
  5. Also mandatory post to prevent it from getting archived (again). A million thanks to Ame, who was kind enough to open the topic again for me I will update this as soon as spoiler lock is lifted!
  6. *Grabs popcorn and sits back* Even though I agree that Swampert, Feraligatr and Tentacruel rock. Crawdaunt, Slowking and Empoleon? Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  7. After my original run and my shiny run, I started going for monotypes. In my first two runs, the plan was to get pokemon I really like (up to, say 12-15), then test the waters vs a leader. See what their strategy is, and study Bulbapedia to alter movesets and team comp around to counter that. But never add a certain pokemon only to defeat a leader. That's a bit cheap in my eyes. It isn't really, but I don't like doing it. With monotypes, strategy is simple. Gather pretty much every available pokemon as soon as you can (providing it has the correct type, of course). Then, again, check the leaders strategy and make a team comp/moveset around it (e.g. Chaarlotte relies heavily on attacking moves that target both 2 opponents (Eruption, Heat Wave, Rock Slide Darmanitan). So, I used Wide Guard). EV training is a must to me as well. And some move breeding too, but I've never done IV breeding for perfect mons. Natures aren't THAT important either, as long as it isn't as terrible as a Modest Mienshao or something similar.

  10. @Wolfox Well, 5-year-olds will never be satisfied anyways... With all those legends in, they have movie material for like 10 movies now. At least. Don't expect Gen VIII before 2025.
  11. @Wolfox Like i said to Hycrox, I think that GF kinda overdid it with the OP mons in this generation. We got: Legendaries: Solgaleo, Lunala, Silvally (it counts as one, but it isn't but a lesser Arceus in my eyes...), Tapu Koko, Tapu Lele, Tapu Bulu, Tapu Fini, Necrozma -->8(!) Mythical: Marshadow, Zeraora, Magearna -->3 Pseudo-Legendaries: Kommo'o (1) Ultra Beasts: Nihilego, Buzzwole, Pheromosa, Xurkitree, Celesteela, Kartana, Guzzlord, Naganadel, Stakataka, Blacephalon -->10(!) And, apart from Kommo'o and Silvally, they all have stats befitting of a Legendary. It is pretty ridiculous. How do people live in Alola I wonder, they actually walk around, see a Legendary and they go "OH FUCK OFF, NOT ANOTHER ONE...."
  12. Water: 8 Grass: 27 Dragon: 9 Electric: 17 Steel: 13 Fire: 17 Ground: 21 Ice: 23 Fight: 18 Normal: 16 Ghost: 18 Dark: 19 Bug: 25 Flying: 15 Rock: 20 Poison: 18 Psychic: 18
  13. @Hycrox You're salty enough already, and it got boring. I'll pass on it. You didn't debunk any of my arguments either, just saying.
  14. I get it about Garchomp. It's mega is a downgrade. Mega Latios is obviously an upgrade. Same ability, type, better or equal stats in all categories. So, explain to me how it is a downgrade from Latios?
  15. @Hycrox Oh well... I guess my reasoning won't do it here. What only Fairies do to Dragons, bugs get done to them by Fire, Flying AND Rock. Ice is a good thing, but consider the fact that it's too slow and too weak defensively. Also, only 12 mons get Ice Shard. Most of them are awful in Physical Attack (bar Mamoswine, Weavile, Lapras, Cloyster). Finally, Mega Garchomp IS OU. http://www.smogon.com/dex/sm/pokemon/garchomp/ And Mega Latios as well. http://www.smogon.com/dex/sm/pokemon/latios/ Check your sources better before answering. As for Air Lock, I meant Delta Stream, you are right. Also, Mega Rayquaza was meant to be OP. But they didn't make it a Bug or Fairy, but a DRAGON. Guess why, OP by default type.
  16. @Hycrox Point was that, if you take out a small portion of Bugs (Mega Pinsir, Mega Beedrill, Volcarona, Mega Scizor, Mega Heracross) that are indeed very strong, the vast majority sucks competitively. This isn't the case for Dragon, unless you just want to not admit the obvious. You claim that Quiver Dance doesn't have that issue with Burn, because it boosts the Special and not the Physical aspect of a mon. But this is only half of story. What you say about Ice for Dragons is the exact case with Rock for Bugs. Both about the most common offensive types, and both hitting the respective type at a devastating 4x. Also, Dragons might go down to Ice. It's about the only weakness they have (and, even so, Dragonite Multiscale and Rayquaza Air Lock. Let's make them resist even that), since the other is themselves, and the third is Fairy. Most Dragons though can endure one hit from Fairies barely, thanks to their respectable bulk. What about Bugs vs Flying, Rocks and Fire, the most common offensive types? Let's take a look in Smogon categories too. Anything Goes: Bug--> None (0) Dragon--> Mega Rayquaza (1) Uber: Bug--> Genesect, Pheromosa (2) Dragon--> Dialga, Giratina, Kyurem-White, Naganadel, Necrozma-Ultra, Palkia, Rayquaza, Reshiram, Mega Salamence, Zekrom, Zygarde-Complete (11) OU: Bug--> Mega Pinsir, Mega Scizor, Volcarona (3) Dragon--> Mega Charizard X, Dragonite, (Mega) Garchomp, Kingdra, Kyurem-Black, (Mega) Latios, Zygarde (7) BL: Bug--> Buzzwole, Mega Heracross, Scolipede (3) Dragon--> Mega Latias, Salamence (2) You do notice that the trend changes when we get lower than OU, right. It's clear which type has more competitively strong mons. The rest are efforts to deny the already proven.
  17. I know, but it is only reasonable for a type to have 6-7 really good mons out of like 45 (fully evolved Bugs) that share the typing. This is reasonable. Dragons are OP/really good at a percentage of about 80-90% of the mons that share the typing. This is what makes a type broken. Let's not complain about things like Quiver Dance, which is pretty much the only thing that allows Bugs to stand a chance... Especially taking under consideration the amount of skill it needs to find the correct timing to set-up with this (unlike Dragon Dance, which you can set up pretty much anytime due to the bulk and resistances of Dragon types).
  18. @Azeria I see your point about the Bug types you mention. You elaborately "forget" to mention their weak points too, but never mind. e.g. Scizor can do nothing to Fire types. What kind of competitive team has no Fire type nowadays?! Also, Araquanid is ridiculously slow, and with pathetic offenses, so any attack that isn't Water typed is gonna only scratch the opponent. Volcarona loses half HP to Stealth Rocks, isn't immune to Spikes OR Toxic Spikes and gets OHKO'ed by pretty much every Rock/Flying type attacks (since they are mostly physical). It is definitely OU, but let's be reasonable, it has checks. Much like the OU Dragons do. Heracross is very strong (Choice Scarf might get is fast as hell, has great coverage and a great ability in Moxie), but without Choice Scarf and with a 4x weakness to Flying it's nothing you can't counter. Also, Choice Scarf sometimes completely ruins your chance to sweep with Moxie, due to locking you in one move. With a tiny bit of experience you can easily tell when a Heracross is Scarfed, and take advantage of it to set up for free by sending in something that resists its previously used move (even at +1, it doesn't really hit hard if it's x(1/2) or x(1/4) and non-stab e.g. Rock Blast or Earthquake). I could write a similar wall text with every Dragon and why they are at least twice as scary as the (very few) competitively good Bug types. But this beats the point of this topic. My point is pretty much what @Wolfox said. "And naming some bug types "OP" while not naming dragons who are at least equally strong is kinda unfair (looking at you chomp, looking at you)" Fun fact: I am not a huge fan of Scizor. I've always considered Scyther's cry to be annoying, and its design to be edgy to say the least. Even the few times I play monotype on Showdown, my Bug team doesn't include it, and I've lost because of this preference of mine quite a few times...
  19. Merry Christmas by the way... I'm dropping this here!

      DAMNIT AIRALIN!

  20. Yes, Druddigon is quite bad, mostly thanks to its non-existant speed... I need not say any more, since my point has been made clear. Bugs are typically early-game, fast-evolution mons that help early and fall off soon, with few mentioned exceptions. Dragons are late game powerhouses with much better stats, much higher bulk and better resistances and unparalleled when it comes to brute force and offensive coverage. My final word will be one. Rayquaza.-
  21. @Wolfox I didn't even mention Kingdra, Flygon, Turtonator, Mega Charizard X, Mega Sceptile and Dragalge, considering them the more "baalanced" Dragons! Imagine that! Now maybe we should compare the weakest Dragons, something like Tyrantrum, Haxorus or Altaria to something like Ariados, Masquerain or Beautifly.... Oh, I guess I'll have my Masquerain Quiver Dance and OHKO the... WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT GOT OUTSPED AND OHKO'ED?!!!
  22. @Azeria LOL, you count Heracross as OP... With its low speed and 4x weakness to one of the best offensive types, Flying... Scolipede is very OP too, with its shallow moveset and Baton Pass ban. Quiver Dance is equivalent to Dragon Dance, so don't whine about it... It just makes up for the (really low) base stats most bugs have. Only 1-2 of them can actually set up with it without getting OHKO'ed by a Rock coverage move. Which is much more frequent than the Ice/Fairy coverage Dragons need to get nullified with their crapload of key resistances. Yes, Mega Beedrill is very OP, with its paper thin defences. And Araquanid, wow, first ever Bug/Water type that actually resists Fire! Too OP for a type that had zero Water types for 6 generations... Let's count Dragons now. Garchomp, Salamence, Dragonite, Haxorus, Goodra, Kommo'o, Latias, Latios, Zekrom, Reshiram, Kyurem, Altaria, Zygarde, Noivern, Guzzlord, Naganadel, Drampa, Hydreigon, Giratina, Palkia, Dialga. Yes... About even
  23. @Wolfox Exactly! Dragons pre-Fairies was the closest thing to Gen I-Psychic when it comes to being overpowered. Hits neutrally everything apart from Steel? Check. Resists all basic types (grass, fire, electric, water)? Check. Gets hit super-effectively only by itself? Check. The only counter to Dragon was an even faster Dragon! Nice balance.
