  2. Haikyuu!!, Yuri!! On Ice, and Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku are all my currently running anime. Bungou Stray Dogs I might watch, but I'm caught up on the manga and I don't want to watch it if I'm planning on backtracking to finish Zankyou no Terror, rewatch Tokyo ESP because I'm sad it hasn't been greenlit for another season, and rewatch Katekyo Hitman Reborn! because I'm a masochist. I'm also gonna try marathoning my favorite Detective Conan movies, and rewatch Magic Kaito 1412, also because I'm sad it hasn't been greenlit for another season.

  4. The only thing I can think of at the moment is that I'm the only Mensan I know who's currently failing college. Like, I'm proud of that. This isn't sarcasm. EDIT: Okay, the reason why is because it validates me. I can't do well in school; I was a certified genius in middle and high school, but I fall flat on my face in college. The fact that I'm a Mensan and still can't get my sh!t together is proof to myself that it's not just about how smart somebody is. And this might sound crazy, but I'm happy, because I don't need to use my smarts to fix my life, even if I have them. I can use something else. I don't want to be a rocket scientist, I want to be a content creator. I don't know, be creative instead of smart. It's kind of backwards, but it boosts my ego a little. I have no clue if any of that even made sense.

  6. To be fair, a vast majority of voters - most moderates, at least - did see it as a "lesser of two evils". That's what happens when a country has a two party system that makes it very hard for a third party to break out of this cycle of red-blue-red-blue. As for satisfaction...well, there have been protests around the country, but I haven't heard of any riots yet (correct me if I'm wrong, anybody), so I'll have to say I'm satisfied, myself. I'm less scared of the politicians themselves and more scared of the general populace who follow them. Like I said, I hadn't done much research into her stance, and frankly I still haven't, since the election's over and it's a moot point for another four years, at which point the campaigns for each party may change drastically. However, from what I heard down the grapevine, she was a strong candidate, and those that you mentioned - mostly the student debt because, well, I go to a liberal college where most students are in debt enough to last their entire life - were among the top that I had heard from my consistently GP friends. Like you said, though, the what was a lot stronger than the how.
  7. Feel free to delete/lock/what have you this thread if it's out of place or uncalled for (I still don't really know how forum rules work, to be perfectly honest), but there's so much shaming and chastising over who people voted for without actually seeing what a person is like, and why they voted for - or against - certain people, and I think a lot of people on both sides of the fence have forgotten that voters for both parties come from all walks of life. So I suppose this is a small proposition to let people say what they want to about themselves, who they voted for - either in the presidential election or their own national election - or what party they stand for, and just have everyone realize that no, just because somebody votes for a candidate that you consider evil, that does not mean that the candidate does not have values that others approve of, and that does not mean everybody who voted for that person is inherently evil. I guess that means this thread would need a bit of transparency, so I'll start. Within the course of this election, I went from being a far left Bernie "Feel the Bern" Sanders Democrat to a more moderate libertarian (.....I think). Whether that's impressive or sad, I'm not quite sure myself. I come from a family that's rather conservative on both sides, although moreso on my father's side, and while I had felt ashamed for the first couple of months that my dad was more willing to vote for Trump than he was for Clinton, I understood why. Now, I'm a pansexual, nonbinary DFAB WOC with mental disabilities (see how many buzzword minorities I fit into? Do you see where this is going?), so of course everybody would expect me to vote Clinton, or write-in Sanders although he explicitly stated that he did not apply for write-in candidacy. However, to be completely honest, if I had voted for one of the major parties in this year's election (I didn't vote at all due to logistics issues), I would have voted for Trump. Had I done my research into Jill Stein, I may have voted for her - granted, my insight into the third parties this year wasn't up to par, even though I know a lot of my non-HRC friends voted Green - but Gary Johnson, god bless his soul, wasn't exactly my cup of tea (party) this year. So between HRC and DJT, I would honestly have chosen Trump. While everybody all points fingers at Trump and calls him a liar who always switches sides, Clinton's political record isn't as stable as her supporters may tout it as. And Trump may be an idiot, but he's an idiot who says what he thinks, while the Clinton family has just had too much corruption and scandal - things far worse than just tax fraud - that I wouldn't be able to trust Hillary's foreign policy as far as I could throw her. For me, this election wasn't hinging on domestic policy - both of them have played an endless game of Reversi with their own stances on social issues, including gay rights - but on foreign policy, and Clinton's history doesn't sit so well with me. That doesn't mean I don't think his domestic policy is a load of crap, just that I didn't trust what either campaign was putting out in terms of it. > I'm also hoping beyond hope that this thread doesn't devolve into name-calling and finger-pointing, so please, keep it civil.
  8. ^ While I am somewhere on the boat of "Clinton would be qualified to be POTUS", give or take a couple of scandals, the thing that ticked me off the most was how more than half of her platform was self-victimization or self-righteousness. Anywhere from "I will cause a revolution as the first female president!" to "Trump's only winning because #misogyny" (which, granted, was less from her and more from most liberals voting for her). If she had tried less pandering and more resolving her past mistakes and showing that she's grown from them, I'd be more upset that Trump won. But, of course, everybody panders, don't they. Clinton pandered to women and former Sanders supporters, Trump pandered to people scared of losing their national identity (some of whom have an innocent fear and are still called bigots, some of whom are actual bigots). To avoid this going into a rant - and to avoid sounding like most of my die-hard "if you voted for Trump, unfriend me on Facebook" far leftist friends - I'm just going to say that it's not the end of the world. Trump was voted into the White House, end of story, but not end of country. No matter what people say, how many people tell you that "America is racist/sexist/what have you" for having voted in a stale cheeto, or whatever insult they're using at any given moment, it is not the end. You're not dead. America hasn't suddenly imploded. Nobody's getting thrown into concentration camps. As long as we, as American citizens and as people, have the right to speak our minds and voice our discontent, then by damn, we're going to do it. If you're against Trump, then rest assured that he can't, and won't, get away with half the things he's claimed that he'd do. If you supported Trump, then rest assured that he can do good for our country while in office. Either way, don't act like it's the apocalypse, and don't act like voters are the harbingers of death because you did or didn't get what you want. (And before anybody asks, I didn't vote.)
  9. What are they using now for animation, Maya (judging by all those Facebook ads)? IMHO It's one of the best 3D modeling softwares out there right now, but that might be because that's what animation classes at my uni are encouraged to use. But yeah, I definitely agree that the animation has gotten loads better.
  10. I watched KingNappy's Snakewood Nuzlocke, but I'm assuming the inevitable rage at some of the puzzles is essentially the same between them. I actually think it was entertaining, in a "Evil Dead meets Warm Bodies without the romance" parody kind of way, but yeah, there was probably more than a little rage at how bad some of the puzzles were. Wouldn't play it myself, honestly, but fun to watch, at least.

  12. This isn't exactly shaping up to be my magnum opus, so as far as feedback is concerned, grammar preferably comes second to how easy/enjoyable it was to read. Of course, I'm still a spelling/grammar nazi, I'm just saying that I'd really like a lot of feedback on how you enjoyed the content itself. Fun game: see how many anime references you can pick out. There's only two or three for this chapter, I think? Unless I accidentally made more that I didn't notice. That happens sometimes. It's primarily going to be updated here on my AO3; however, I'll post the first chapter here (under a spoiler tag) for convenience. EDIT: the chapter was so long that I couldn't post it on here, so I'll just link it again. PokéRangers! Episode 1 The Start of Something Magical! I'm a PokéRanger? If anybody's curious, word count for episode/chapter 1 comes out to 7,078. This is literally the first three days worth of my NaNoWriMo project. Also, for those of you who like visual references rather than written ones (like me):
  13. Too many to name, but probably either Edgar Allan Poe (Bungou Stray Dogs if the manga counts) or Kenjiro Minami (Yuri!!! On Ice). Can, can, can you do the can can?
  14. Yuri!! On Ice is a strong contender for best anime of this season. I'd say my hype for Bungou Stray Dogs outweighs it, but I'm actually very disappointed that they animated the light novel for the first arc of the second cour. It would have been better as a standalone OVA- I don't want to think about how much they're going to cut from the Guild arc because of those episodes used for Dark Era, especially since the Guild arc is already so long as it is. Or maybe I'm just salty that they're going to inevitably push back my favorite character into a third season/cour (if it even happens) just to make room for mafia Dazai and Soukoku vs C'thulu. Izetta and Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku are both on my to-watch list; Izetta because it gives off a very distinct FMA meets Kiki's Delivery Service vibe, and MHIK because I was a sucker for Madoka back in the day and it sounds just as heartwrenching and violent.
  15. I didn't bother watching the full dub, but I did watch the highlights reel, and it honestly feels like they went halfway to Ghost Stories with how many flips they gave concerning the professionalism of the dub. That being said, same, Kyouko. And in terms of VDR3, I'm still catching up to the hype train, so here's a rough summary of my current emotions: I'm too lazy to go through everyone else, those are just the ones who stood out for me.
  16. Shoutout to myself for lowering my own expectations.

  17. Good gosh, I really do like answering existential questions and A:TLA. How important do you find direct confrontation (either verbal or physical) to achieving your goals? 8/10. There's a difference between saying how important I think something is and how much I desire it, which is really bugging me about answering this question truthfully because I detest direct confrontation. I'd actually say that it's absolutely necessary though, even if that includes something such as direct communication (which falls under verbal confrontation, technically). Actually, it's vital to be able to directly face any problems in the way of achieving goals, because no conflict is just going to resolve itself without your input. That's just passively waiting for your goal to fall into your lap, which is lazy and entitled. How much do you prioritize yourself and your loved ones over "the greater good" in your daily decision-making? 6/10. I'm not going to lie, if it benefits my friends and loved ones, there's a good chance it would sway my decision. Of course, if my actions were to hurt more people than it would help - say, hurting five or six people in order to help just one of my friends - then that's not something I would do. How much do you think you are in control of your own emotions? 1/10. I'm a crybaby. I cry when I'm sad. I cry when I'm angry. I cry when people suggest changes I can make. It's not something I can control, at least not physically. This is disregarding my mental issues, actually, which make it even lower than a 1 out of 10, if that's even possible. How important is money and its acquisition to your happiness and/or life goals? 4/10. Definitely not the most important thing on the face of the earth, but of course it takes money to survive, so I need to prioritize it over other things. Basically, it's a necessary evil. How afraid are you of death (your own or anyone else's)? 2/10 - 9/10. That's two questions right there; you can't just ask those and expect the same answer. I'm unafraid of my own death for several reasons, had once willingly embraced it at some point in my life (probably still do, honestly). However, I'm downright terrified of having somebody close to me dying. Even if it sounds selfish, I don't want to be left alone living when my friends or family are not. How well do you think you would manage alone in a desperate situtation (island exile, nuclear apocalypse, foreign invasion)? 2/10. I would say 1 out of 10, but I have decent survival skills. I'd be an emotional trainwreck, though. And again, on scale of 1-10... How much greater than animals do you think the human being is? 3/10. Biologically speaking, of course. I really don't think we as a species have any moral high ground, or low ground, compared to other animals. Needless to say, there are plenty of species that are just as smart as humans, or at least have the capability - dolphins, ravens, and I believe pigs? Dolphins and ravens are also thought to have a moral compass, which implies that humans are nowhere near as special as we once believed. How vital do you believe war is to the survival of a human community? 2/10. I would say not at all, but conflict resolution is a necessity, even if it's through violent means. There are definitely people who are unable to come to an agreement on certain topics through talking alone, and it would be better for them to reach a resolution rather than have their feelings bottle up until it boils over into something uglier than war. To what extent do you believe it is a human responsibility to cooperate with nature? 8/10. Everybody is responsible for their own actions, and as such, society is responsible for society's actions. We cannot just destroy something and expect it to grow back without first nurturing it; that's selfish and asking for too much. Likewise, getting upset when nature is being destroyed when humans are the ones destroying it is like throwing a tantrum after the fact. We must protect it now so we don't have to mourn for it later. How great of a role do you believe tradition should play in shaping an individual's identity? 5/10. The world changes, for the better and for the worse. While tradition should be honored, it's also vital to be aware of the present and not let good intentions drive home bad actions. And some bonus questions (not 1-10): What is your favorite color? Black and white together. Not grey, but distinctly black and white patterns. What is your favorite kind of bending as seen in Avatar: The Last Airbender? Waterbending, namely blood bending just because how it was introduced as the "dirty little secret" of water bending, which was usually seen as so pure with its healing aspects. What is your favorite character from the series? Wan Shi Tong, the owl spirit from the Spirit Library, although for reasons that you don't know if you haven't seen Legend of Korra. He has a cute scene with Jinora that I absolutely adore.
  18. 6/10 Looks pretty from what I can tell, but it's tiny and I'm too lazy to squint.
  19. Aside from the one I'm working on, the most ambitious fan game I would ever want to make would be one where trainers fight alongside their Pokemon, literally. Invoking bad TVTropes references here, but it's like a simple game of chess, where your Pokemon serve as chess pieces to protect you, the "king", since you as the human are the most fragile team member on the board. Maybe even you could have stats - mainly defense and special defense, but potentially attack and special attack if you as a trainer are allowed to use weapons in battle - to help protect yourself against your enemy's Pokemon. Granted, that would probably have mechanics closer to Pokemon Conquest or SMT: Devil Survivor (or even Fire Emblem), but that would make it even more strategic. Trying to place your Pokemon so that they - and you - don't get hit by your own pokemon's Draco Meteor, making sure not all of your Pokemon can be targeted by one AoE attack....needless to say, battling would be a bit more dynamic than your usual battles. Status conditions would be even more brutal too. If speed determined how many turns you could take before an enemy moves (a la games like OFF which have action bars), then poison or burns could do even more damage, sleep could be shaken off twice as fast, and paralysis can make or break an entire battle. As for specifics.....I'd say the region would be the Noctus Region. The team would potentially be Team Alpha, who would be stealing Pokemon in order to build up an army (just like every other team ever) and rule the region with an iron fist. Knowing me, I'd probably throw in some tidbits about how the Noctus Region isn't receiving help from the other regions because the other regions don't approve of the Noctus League's rules (being allowed to fight with your Pokemon is dangerous!!), or something along those lines. There'd probably be eight gyms, because having all eighteen is way too ambitious for somebody like me, and it would definitely be easier than Reborn or other fan games, especially for people who don't play map-based strategy games very often. It'd probably have the same amount of edge, though, since you kind of are battling other humans. Can I get a hell yeah for accidentally killing somebody?
  20. Good question, actually. I think it might be a mixed bag; there will definitely be people who don't know about Pokemon, but I'm not sure yet if Pokemon, as a franchise, doesn't exist at all. It might still exist, just not as such a big cultural phenomenon that it is now.
  21. I'm asking for a friend. Joking aside, I'm trying to figure a good starting point for a potential fan game, and I kind of want to gauge early interest. For context, the world-meshing would be completely plot-relevant, involving a supernatural catastrophe that occurs X number of years in the past that abducted people from the human world and threw them into the Pokemon world.
  22. This is super minor, but walking into the Lost Camp, from the left hand tile specifically, makes you walk behind Mosely, so the cutscene won't trigger.
  23. "Are you a boy, or are you a girl?" Yes. ________________________________________ Hello, everybody, I'm El- and yes, I promise I came up with the pseudonym before it was associated with a psychotic Arceus cultist. It's short for Eloquent Liar, of which I am. (Either that, or just somebody who spends too much time playing video games.) Specifically for Reborn, I've been playing for a few months now, but just recently did I decide to buckle down and actually play, with competitive strategies and all. I'm doing two runs right now, one regular run (I was stuck on Charlotte, which is disheartening since apparently she was nerfed after chapter 14, so I backtracked to Obsidia to do some proper EV training using the department store berries) and one mono-color yellow run. I'm also tempted to try a monogen Nuzlocke, but I have neither the patience nor ability for that. Elsewhere inside the realm of Pokemon, I'm keeping track of the most recent Sun and Moon info, and I have one copy of each preordered; Sun is probably going to be my main default game, while I'll attempt a blind Nuzlocke on Moon. I also have a slowly yet surely growing collection of Pokemon fangames on my desktop in a folder called, well, "Pokemon Fangames". I'll probably be trawling through the fangame expose sub for more, too, and I'm also planning one of my own. It's still in its bare bones stages, though, so don't expect anything for a long time. Outside of Pokemon, I'm a sucker for JRPGs, otome games and anime, with a good mix of action and romance right up my alley. My favorite anime character is Edgar Allan Poe, and sometimes I wish I was lying. I draw sometimes, and write more often, both fanfiction and original works. Who knows, I might become published someday. Other than that, if you have anything to say, then I'm always open to questions, comments, and death threats of any kind, and I hope to have a great time here on the forums.
