Pokemon in Space [IC Chapter #03]
Strider replied to Bfroger6's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Oh. It seemed like Betani was annoyed. . .what was up with that? In any case, Shelly resolved to head over to the group that was searching for an entrance to the underground. As she meandered her way across the dig site, heading off in that direction, she was distracted by a frail woman without the Aether employee uniform. This piqued Shelly's curiosity, and was enough to divert her from her chosen course. Having approached the woman, Shelly stated, "Excuse me? I'm Shelly, and I don't think we've met?" -
Following Kusuke's attempt at an explanation, Harry stood up, and stretched. "So. Jun. Kusuke. Just spent way too much time surfing, so let's give each other a quick rundown of the fruits of our labor. So, I found Parahumans Online. It's a forum of the powered people here. Civilians can access it of course, but they aren't verified Capes, a tag for users on the site. Got a bit of info on some of the more important Capes around here, but not much. Had to keep from digging into stuff that I should already know. Also, got in touch with someone calling themselves a friendly neighborhood tattletale. Possibly a mind reading cape, or someone who knows secrets? Might have been bluffing, but. . ." Here, Harry stopped for a moment, and ran a quick search for "friendly neighborhood tattletale cape", and then "mind reading cape tattletale". "I set up a meeting with this person," Harry muttered as he typed, "three in the afternoon. So there's that. You two find anything of interest? I'm thinking of going to find breakfast in a bit, thought it'd be best to catch each other up to speed."

"Well. I guess we're done here then?" Edmond shrugged at the group, and he gave a small, slightly sad smile. "Well done. No major casualties, we took down an enemy, and we got the intel we wanted. So. . .hmm. Should we bury the humans? We should probably also collect weapons for the castle defenders. . ." Edmond stepped over to one of the corpses, grimacing as he grabbed its weapon, and then began rifling through its armor.

"Well, it's not just books. The structure is different because it's meant to be a place where a bunch of people with computers communicate. See the rectangles with pictures and bolded words next to them? Each of those is a person's. . .well, identification online. This format is better for lots of people talking to each other. Do you get that?" Harry scrolled up and down slowly with the mouse, showing how the wheel controlled where they were on the page. He supposed that a computer could probably remain a black box for this girl. It did for so many others in many eras. . .though most did come with some prior knowledge. "Kusuke, can you explain a computer better than I?"

Harry pushed himself and his chair away from the desk, groaning. He'd found Fugly Bob's thankfully, but his other searches were not going well. His attempts to discover whether other high ranking members of the servers were capes, and who they might be, had come to nought. He didn't want to use the search engines for topics that might turn out to be common information too much, and the little time on these search engines he allowed himself had turned up nothing. "Oh, hey Satomi. It's a computer. Basically. . . it uses. . . lightning? God it's hard to explain these things. It uses electricity, which is lightning, moving very quickly, in controlled amounts to do stuff. Mainly it's for communications, and well, more abstract types of communications. You can see pictures or messages on it, and these pictures can be sent from far away with the controlled pulses of electricity through. . .pipes. Like, imagine you wanted to make a picture of a tree, the computer would basically have a set of pulses that it recognizes as telling it to color the first of thousands of little squares making up the tree picture. A second set of pulses would tell the computer what color to make it. It's a fair bit more complicated than that, but that's the basic idea. It does similar things for messages, making a series of pulses represent each letter. Computers are very quick with communication, and can hold a lot of information, equivalent to many, many books." Perhaps that would suffice. Probably not though.

"Good." Harry turned his attention back to the computer. He'll search out the location of Fugly Bob's and then go do some more in depth research on Dragon and Armsmaster. Tinkers, as they were called, would probably be exceptionally useful in their attempts to get off world. He'll also look and see if there are any other interesting heroes listed as admin or in higher levels of PHO, specifically focusing on those who appeared a the meeting.

"Huh. Kusuke, they know about our power testing. I'm setting up a meeting at three tomorrow. You and two other people. This tattletale person mentioned us meeting them and their friends. Plural." Harry typed out a message to this new contact. <"Quite the early bird I see. Three in the afternoon sound fine?-A constructive alien."> That would have to do for now, Harry thought, as he closed headed back to the public spheres of PHO. This person, whomever they were, was quite disturbing. They knew about the power testing session, or were pretending they did, and they had seemed to recognize something in his username. Either an expert bluffer, or someone even more dangerous.

"Once I've got a time set up, I'll tell you. Also, make sure to take someone with you, you don't know exactly who this is, and they might have a counter to you. I'd suggest Proditor, Soma, or Frigus. Jun would be a reasonable option too." Harry typed the following message as a DM to the source of this message, Eye_For_Detail. <"Requesting reason to meet with you. -A constructive alien."> This would be sent from an account named ConnecticutYankee. "You enjoying the coffee, then? I'm sure they'd let you take a bucket of it if you threatened them nicely." Harry grinned slightly, scrolling through one of the active PHO threads. "Anyway, you find anything interesting? Found a bit about Capes myself, some healing hero named Panacea, but a lot seems to rely on an understanding of the local politics and culture. Definitely gonna take a while, as they've got everything listed down. Never though I'd experience the unbridled excitement of high school social studies ever again. What sweet nostalgia." Harry sighed. "To be entirely honest though, it's interesting. Less of the quiet greedy parasites-on-society inherent to most politics, more balance of power between skintight-suit-clad maniacs."

Returning to the computer terminal, Harry pulled up a tab he had seen earlier: some form of PHO message board. And one small message, hidden amongst a great deal of clutter, read <"Requesting a meeting with the constructive foreigners who were over by the apartment."> Huh. Probably not someone from the PHO then, or at least not someone who had been at the meeting. Couldn't be Lung, which left either civilians, the gangsters, or whoever controlled the bugs. Civilians wouldn't word the request so cryptically, and the gangsters were probably all serving some form of brief sentence. Had to be the commander of the bugs. "Kusuke, someone wants to meet us, it seems." Harry gestured to his screen. "Probably gonna pester them for some info before agreeing or anything, but do you have any thoughts on the matter?"

After Proditor had left, Harry glanced at a nearby clock. Five thirty. They probably would want to get going around seven-fifteen, just to be at the Rig--presumably the large structure in the harbor--a little early to get things set up, and to avoid any inconvenience that might occur along the way, what with the early morning rush hour. Knowing that he had a few hours, Harry found a corner, and settled down on his backpack to take a quick nap. The military had trained him well, so he knew that he could awaken when he needed to. So he slept for an hour, before wandering back to one of the computer terminals he had been using earlier.

"Certainly. And if they had certain tools here, we probably could have had you fixed up within half an hour. In any case, it was my pleasure to help. Are you going to remain here, or head back to our friend? We've scheduled a session for testing our parahuman abilities for eight o'clock this morning, if that matters to you. Since. . .the PRT might not let you leave if you don't agree to getting analyzed."

"Right. . . Huh. I was kind of expecting a bit more. . .difficulty? Didn't expect such an obviously alien body to be so similar on a fundamental level. Did your species originate on earth?" Harry was already putting the finishing touches on his treatment, and Proditor would likely already be feeling better. "You should probably be good within. . . a day? Judging on the efficacy of these treatments. I'd recommend getting some fluids in you, with electrolytes, to replenish any 'blood' loss."

"I see." Harry muttered as they entered the medical room. Sounded like a powerful pistol, apparently able to overpenetrate after going through so many obstacles. Maybe a Cape power? In any case, Harry directed the being to lie down on one of the cots, and then grabbed a few tools from his kit, and some supplies from a well stocked cabinet in the room, before setting to work. As he carefully patched the hole with a clotting agent foam, and then a tissue rebuilding agent injection--he'd have to make more of that somehow--, Harry asked, "So, what did you do? To get this wound, I mean. Because I'm guessing you didn't just decide to challenge someone to a pistol duel at midnight for the hell of it."

Harry, by way of answer, swiveled in his chair, and said, "Proditor was it? How may--Huh. You seem to have misplaced an inch cylinder from the center of your abdomen, my friend. If you'd like a bit of professional advice, here it is: you really shouldn't do that." Harry wondered, had the psychic being just traveled all the way across town for his help, or had he been injured in the building? Not really the time to question it now though. "Follow me, a short way up is the medical facility. I should be able to do something for you, probably better than anyone here can, but we should do it in a sterile environment, since we have the option." Harry gestured down the hall, and marched off at a brisk pace, confirming that the floating being was indeed behind him. As he strode along, Harry asked, "Bullet wound? What type of gun? Have you noticed anything besides pain, including tingling, burning, or numbness? And do you know enough about your own physiology to tell me generally where certain organs are located?" Or at least how they differed from humans. . . Harry didn't ask this though, as he had no real idea whether Proditor had met a human before today.

[IC] Fate/Reborn 2.0 First War

[Archer & Kevin] Darien deferred to his Master on this. "So, what do you say, Kevin? Time to go find an ally or prey? Or do we want to get a bit more info first? Scout em out a bit, maybe see if we need bigger guns?" In all honesty, Darien didn't mean this. He was quite confident that even with what he had now, he'd be pretty much fine against what most Servants could throw at him. He was an Archer class after all. -
Huh. Wonder if we're gonna get formal introductions, Harry thought to himself, staring at the thus far unnamed and quiet heroes. He had mentioned his name, and Jun had too, but it seemed that most of the rest of the group had neglected to do so. It was up to them certainly, but what had triggered this remark was Harry's curiosity about the identities of those present besides Emily, and Armsmaster. Maybe he'd be able to ascertain their identities later, once he had access to the internet. "If there's nothing else that we urgently need to discuss. . .? I'm sure you all want to get back to your comfy beds, but I was wondering if someone would deign to escort me to a computer? I'm guessing you don't want me wandering the facility in search of one." As he waited for an answer, Harry leaned forward, to pick his backpack up off the floor and pulled it on. One thing that Harry made a mental note of was the fact that the time traveler, Kusuke, had requested a Library. Interesting, since he seemed to be from a decent tech world. Course, it could just be that the kid preferred the old methods. Something to do with the time travel thing? Perhaps computers weren't compatible with his time travel, due to having too many requests go out at the same time? It occurred to Harry that he'd need to find out a bit more about how this teammate's ability worked. And then the star person decided to ask a question. Wasn't the worst possible question, Harry admitted, but it was definitely one that should have waited. At the very least right now it would be a distraction. At worst though, it revealed something the PRT might not have known, and something that would exacerbate their fears.

Pokemon in Space [IC Chapter #03]
Strider replied to Bfroger6's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
During this time, Shelly had remained at the drop site. Not through any real choice of her own, but simply because she had been distracted by the employees work. She had stepped over to watch a small group taking some samples, and by the time she had glanced up, everyone had departed. Resigning herself to remaining here for a while, she asked one of the employees who looked to be in charge if she could assist with some of the collection, and had begun taking crystal samples, Axew helping her to bash off smaller pieces of some of the more monolithic crystals. When Betani arrived back, Shelly waved to her, saying, "Do you know where everyone else went off to?" -
"I'll sign on as an affiliate then, so count my soul as signed away. Can't be bothered with the public appearances and such of full membership. My current schedule is up in the air, and I wouldn't want to have to drop everything to go to a PR event to meet little kids." He hesitated, thinking for a moment, and then asked, "Do you mind if I say here for the night? I'd like to get online if possible, and fill out the paperwork, since my sleep schedule is messed up at the moment." Addressing the mention of power testing, Harry stated, "Is tomorrow morning, around eight, too little notice for giving my nonexistent powers a test?" At this point Harry considered mentioning something, but quickly thought better of it, and instead asked, "Can I also get a peek at the medical facilities around here, sometime later? As a Doctor by trade, I like to see the innovations in the field when I can. Maybe take some tips to help people out. Who knows?"

Harry sighed. That could have gone better. Could have gone a hell of a lot worse too though. "I'm all for testing and paperwork. I will need a bit more info on whether I'm signing away my soul by being an affiliate. And, pardon my ignorance, what extra requirements, commitments, and perks would be gained by signing on as full members?"

Harry had made a point of sitting himself next to Lilly when he entered the room, prepared to do what he could to distract her. So if she attempted to speak up while he was talking, he could reprimand her for interrupting. "Not a prank, Ms. Piggot," Harry stated calmly, as the woman completed her opening, before muttering, "except maybe on us." "Can't speak for anyone but myself, but I'm not a parahuman. Dr. Harry Walters, pretty standard human, training in field surgery along with a few other fields. And, don't get me wrong, I'm just as afraid as you are when I don't have information, but, isn't this one of the better things that could happen if a group of nine supposed parahumans decide to show up to a party without an invitation?" "In vague terms, I suppose, we're a group of interested individuals from a small recently established group. Came to Brockton Bay because we needed something, and couldn't really go elsewhere. You know how it is. However, we saw the possibility of collateral damage with Lung and decided that it would be immoral of us to let it pass if we had the ability to help. About our general organization? I suppose Jun could tell better than I. They're the head of PR right now, as much as that branch exists."

Harry spent the time observing the others, noting down what he could about their physiology. Obviously there was nothing to be discovered about those clad in armor, except that they mostly seemed bipedal. Others like Lilly and Caldera were easier, and Harry noted down anything that might help in treating future injuries. He did the same for those who had come to escort them to the PRT. When the woman appeared, he quietly followed, stretching.

"I'll certainly need a lift. Not sure about the others. . . Lilly! Can you send that thing of yours over to tell our friend that we'll be a bit late or something? Or fly over yourself, then come back? Don't want them to get too worried." Harry gestured off somewhere a bit to the left of the docks. "I'm guessing the acquaintance you mentioned isn't a firebreathing lizard, right? Dragon, I mean. Wouldn't be surprised, but sounds like they're an engineer or something. Also, can I use a computer when we get to HQ? Haven't been online for a few days, and I've got some friends who tend to get a bit antsy if I don't check in every once in a while."

"Mr. Arms, are you alright? I'm a practicing medic. If you were injured in the battle, I can probably help. If it's something from before, I can at least take a look." "We're new to the area. Don't have a collective name or anything, unless everyone else got together and chose one in the last hour when I wasn't watching. You going to take these guys into custody?" Harry inquired, gesturing to the unconscious gangsters on the ground. He stepped over to them, knelt down, and began patting them down, searching for useful things. Weapons, identification, papers with. . .interesting info, really anything.
