  1. Except that unlike Dark Rising, my game isn't trashy fan-fiction with characters from alternate universes thrown in, because why not. Sorry to anyone who likes that game, but it was not made well, story-wise and gameplay wise. I hate cliffhanger endings, because that ruins the endings for RPG's that go for something artistic, like mine. It's such a lame cash in on trying to keep expectations high, and trying to keep people on the edge of their seat when you could just show them a proper ending that resolves everything, rather than doing something lame. It also prevents people making stoner theories about "what will happen next", and making false theories based on my work, because look at how accurate those are. (No I'm not bitter why do you ask XD)
  2. Time gap? You mean like... how far in the future is it? It's 12 years in the future, after events of the 1st game. There are no cliffhangers, because that's my style, also the stories have been finished for both games. They've been written and finished for a few years now.
  3. I've been working on the 2nd game for a pretty long time now, at least conceptually and story wise. Mostly because I want to have the game using a completely original graphic set, and heavily modified engine. At the moment I've been programming said engine for a few years now, and it's completely original and only for the 2nd game.
  4. So, at the current moment I have just gotten a huge amount of motivation to design several new characters for the 2nd game, and I've actually been spending some time working on said 2nd game. Mostly just to keep me busy and keep my ideas rolling. But, for shits and giggles there will be characters that I will be showing off, from the 2nd game, in the coming weeks. Again, for funzies. Also, as a random note - the 2nd game is a lot more fantasy driven than this game. Which says a lot, given how fantasy-esque this game already is. However, I find the 2nd game to be the best version of the Symphonic Horizon games. It has the most consistent writing, best set-pieces, and a much more engaging story. My current game suffers a bit from a lot of stop-start action, where I'd work, then stop, then pick it back up again forgetting what I was doing. With the 2nd game, the story's been consistent all the way through and I find to be much more enjoyable, overall. Also, here's an update from my manga artist about the situation on the manga's upcoming chapters. Are you ready? Cool! About that much XD The upcoming chapters are underway, with Marissa annoyed.
  5. Update: So, I've made some pretty good progress along the road to completing my game. Many bugs fixed, many things added in, and new maps created. First I'm gonna show off a few maps for the Dark Fang's Northern Base. This was a weird thing for me to work on, since it's extremely difficult to try and make several bases that look and feel very much different. Side Note: Also, it's probably a fact now at this point that I'm probably the biggest fan of Tales of Symphonia on the Earth, since I now own EVERYTHING Tales of Symphonia related, including all of the overly expensive figurines, blu-ray dvd's, posters, Japanese manga, Japanese novelization, wall-scrolls, and all versions of the game (including Japanese exclusive versions). Yes, I am a nerd, yes, I am a huge fan-boy who has plans to go to a Tales of Festival in Japan, and YES... I want to get my stuff autographed. Also, this is going to be starting the date where I have nearly all of the costumes completely finished. These including costumes with rideable Pokemon, fishing, etc. However, the methods to unlock said costumes aren't totally finished yet. BUT, I intend to get around to doing so this week.
  6. So, as of today's livestream I have completed 2 1/2 new maps. Technically I just refined 2 and started working on another. The last of which... I'm having some slight artist's block with, but... eh. Also, I will be announcing a new character for the game! Technically not new, since she's been planned for the game, for a long time, but I haven't gotten the time to have her made yet. She's similar to Ninetales in that she has a human and Pokemon form, but at the same time has extreme relevance at the very end of the game. So important in-fact that she becomes a pseudo-party member. I say pseudo, because you can't "technically" use her for Pokemon battling, however she has a very unique function that I think will tickle many people's fancy. I'll be announcing her within this week, hopefully.
  7. Appreciated, however, most of the images that I ever posted on here aren't allowed to be here, anymore, thanks to Photobucket's policy changes, which require me to pay 399.99 per year or 39.99 per month just to post images.
  8. So, guys, I hope you're enjoying all the 3rd Party, embedded images that I post here, because Photobucket clearly doesn't... This, by the way, is bullshit: https://www.ghacks.net/2017/06/30/photobucket-now-charges-399-for-third-party-hosted-images/ I occasionally post from dA, from my stash, but jesus christ man. Like, why is this even a thing? I have the majority of my photos from there, and I thought that having my subscription to them, already was enough. But, no, they think that I should charge them 399 per year, or 39.99 per month in order for me to post content of my game. Fuck. right. off. I'm gonna be using dA to post photos from now on, because seriously, fuck that shit.
  9. So, ever since my emotional stress has been at an all time high, I produced something that reflects how I felt. It's something that appears in-game as an optional scene between Vice and Vivian. It's a tad shippy, and the scene is quite long, so I just cut the gif down to the meat of what I find as the most striking part about the scene. Also, I created a new mechanic to the game called "Character Relationships". No, you cannot ship Vice with anyone besides what the story has planned for him, if that's what you're thinking. What the new system does is that there are several new scenes that I created in the game that if you were to watch those optional scenes, certain characters' relationships with other characters will increase. Some of them are a little out of the way, and yes you can completely miss any opportunity of seeing the scene as they are only accessible during moments where the party is not all together. What this effectively does is that if one character is partnered with another character in battle there are random effects that can occur in battle, such as: One character protecting the other, completely, from damage. Increase critical hit ration for one attack 10% stat buff for certain stats throughout battle, so long as they are partnered together Can save a Pokemon from fainting and allowing them to hold on with 1HP. Can produce unique in-battle conversations depending on how high their relationship level is Since this is completely optional it has no real effect on the story of the game, besides more character building and development for said characters. However, the scenes, regardless if you watched them or not, will still be considered canon, but not mentioned unless you watched the scene. So, either way the scenes are canon and will be only referenced if you viewed it. I say that, because regardless of you watching them or not, they will be referenced in the follow-up, sequel to the game.
  10. I wouldn't say it's exactly easy to do at this point, since progress on my game has been slow, due to... you know. It's a constant thought in the back of my head that pressures me into working, when I don't want to. I will try to get some progress done, but I'm gonna be a lot more laid back about working on my game, at the moment, due to my high stress levels.
  11. It's been a few weeks. I'm alive, disowned by my own father, kicked out of my own house, and living far away from them. Still have everything that I worked on, because there's no way I'd ever leave that stuff behind. But I have become 200% more no-bullshit in my attitude. My life has gone somewhere, and it hasn't been pleasant. I still have my job working IT and making a lot of money, but it hasn't been the most pleasant of experiences. Traumatized and heart-struck I guess would be the best choice of words to use, I suppose. I won't go into detail of what happened, because it's frankly no one's business, but I'm just gonna say it wasn't exactly something that I'd wish on my worst enemy. Anyways, I've been working on my game, in my time away, fixing bugs and getting what I can done for my game, for people to test. I plan on livestreaming and talking about everything that went down, in the past 2 weeks, but all I can say is... I'm pretty upset and not in the best of moods. At all.
  12. Well my life has turned an entire 180 degrees. I was just disowned by my father, beaten by him, kicked out of my own house and I may or may not be dead in a couple days.

I love everyone here, even if I have do house unpopular opinions occasionally and I vent sometimes. But, I thank @Amethyst for Reborn and the website which allowed me to meet a lot of cool people. I thank those of you who've stuck with me for years on my own personal projects.

If things don't get resolved soon and I'm still out with nowhere to go to, well... bye. It was nice meeting every one of you and I do look back on all the things I've done here. The good and the bad and I do hold regrets over the things I've said sometimes and think "god I'm a fucking asshole, why did I say that." But I will always remember you people for the great things you've given me.

For now, uhmmm... bye. My battery will be out soon, but this might be the last message I post. I some miracle comes up and I can return home, but for now it's farewell.

  14. Metroid Prime 4? Hell yes! Xenoblade 2? Eh. I'm not the biggest fan of Xenoblade, but I did enjoy Xenosaga Episodes 1-3.

    In other news: Mia still not in Fire Emblem: Warriors ;w;

  15. My current mood:

  16. Sony's conference was... not great, but also not bad at the same time. They showed off a lot of cool games, especially the new Monster Hunter and Horzion: Zero Dawn expansion and several others. But... I wanted to see and hear more about those games. It's to be expected however, since Sony was bound to have an "eh" conference at some point. That cute, mouse VR game I really want to hear more about and even play, but... it's a VR game, sooooooo... yeah. It's a shame though, because I was actually interested in it.

    1. ShadowStar

      ShadowStar

Felt a lot like the PC conference to me: Boring, yet Inoffensive. Bethesda < EA < (PC) / Sony < Microsoft < Ubisoft (My Personal Ranking so Far)

    2. Dylanrockin

      Dylanrockin

Yeah, that whole thing I can agree with. They had great games shown, but didn't capitalize on it. I don't much care for Kingdom Hearts anymore, except for its gameplay, so I didn't really care if it was shown or not. Final Fantasy 7 remake on the other hand...

I can also agree with those rankings. Sony is definitely 3rd place overall with Microsoft surprisingly taking 2nd and Ubisoft at No. 1 because Mario XCOM and several other cool things (Beyond Good and Evil 2 *cough*). Also, Ubisoft announced their Just Dance game, showed off a cool little dance number, and then that was it; short, sweet and didn't spend 15 minutes talking about why Just Dance this year is so "innovative and different". They announced it and that was it, twas a good choice.

I wish there was an edit post option here, but I think ProJared says it best on how well Ubisoft's conference went:

  17. So... anyone else hyped for Mario XCOM? Because I know I am! I freaking love that type of tactical RPG.

I'm 100% okay with this game, since it's got humor, spirit, charm and it plays like an XCOM game, which I am super down for. I never much cared for the rabbids, but this game changes my outlook on them quite a bit.

    3. Raindrop Valkyrie

      Raindrop Valkyrie

I mean the Rabbids work pretty well for like fodder units to just fill out your team. A bunch of more or less faceless silly mooks lel.

And don't get me wrong I'm loving it just I wouldn't have expected it in 7 million years

    4. Dylanrockin

      Dylanrockin

Neither did people who expected Final Fantasy and Disney making Kingdom Hearts, but look how that went: Somewhere, that's for sure XD

But, I have high hopes for this game, based on the footage I saw. The Rabbids look a lot funnier and less aggravating than they were in the original Wii launch title, so that's a plus.

  18. I heard of Cuphead for awhile now, and actually seeing it is just... weirdly disturbing. Yet, at the same time, I really wanna try it out, because I loved old 1930's cartoons, especially cartoons that were shown on the Chuck Jones show.

  19. Okay, I'm going to be totally honest here and say... the Microsoft conference was... actually pretty good. It focused on a lot of things that people who watch E3 care about: Video games. Not only that but they showed off a lot of cool games, like Super Lucky's Tale which was adorable and I want that game to be multi-platform, that pirate game which was pretty funny. Also I thought that the bro-Orc in Shadows of War so super endearing and funny (I actually really liked Shadows of Mordor, so I'm a sucker for this game, even though it's not an Xbox exclusive.)

It did have some dumb moments, especially the dick-stroking at the beginning. But, they got the guns and wheels out of the way first, then got to the cool stuff. Dragon Ball Fighter Z being announced (well I already heard about it, so whatever) was pretty dope as I'm a huge DBZ fan. But, again, it's not an exclusive so... yeah? I like how they actually want to have a 3D platformer mascot on their console, which is neat and a good choice on their part AND I like how they didn't talk about Halo, Gears of War, or Call of Duty (the games most people often times associate with Microsoft). That said though... I would not want to buy the 10 year old's gamertag console at... 499, 499... 499 USD.  Like... no thanks. It's decent but not 499 USD decent.

Overall... I'd give it a solid 8.5. Had a strong focus on games, but there were some moments at the beginning and end that were dumb and one of the games that said "pre-order" and it was like... a bunch of Cortana's walking around for like 15 seconds and I was just like "why should I pre-order this?"

  20. XboxOneX? Sounds like every 10 year old's gamertag gone wrong. Pretentious, cock-stroking idiots, Microsoft. *slow clap* All I'm hearing from Microsoft is "look at how badass our hardware is!" PC gamers are just like...

    PC Gamers: *blink* "and...?"

Also... Microsoft and their focus on guns and wheels, as usual. Because ofc.

  21. The thing is... the first page literally has a Q&A that says there won't be any beta for regular readers. I try to keep production levels high, which is something you won't see in most fan-games, and is the main reason why my game probably won't be out for a good while. Also, I believe I've done a good, in that I've finally finished 4 maps in 1 stream! The first 2 maps are part of Renma - East 23rd District and I'm sure you're thinking "why is it called that if it's not a town?" many reasons, actually, such as this is supposed to be a new expansion project that was set across 8 years to create a new district for Renma (the capital of the Northern Continent). The head of that project was Vaan Cresthart's mother: Reina Cresthart, who lived on the outskirts of Renma in East 23rd District. The first map is referred to as "Gate to The 23rd". Obviously since Reina passed away a long time ago the project was scrapped and was left as is. So, now this mountainous part of the Northern Continent keeps its original name: East 23rd District in honor of the original project. Also, if you progress further to the north of this area you will come across Vaan's old house, which is a completely optional area and only serves as extra character development for Vice. As for the last few maps, these are part of the Renma Hills: Arch Cave. In this map, once Krista gains access to her powers to call Pokemon to aide her and be able to cross water and fly you will be able to go further through the cave to the final area where you will be able to fight the phantom Garchomp for the 3rd and final time. If you leave the area and come back, after defeating the phantom Garchomp from the Next Dimension, Terrakion will occupy this cave and you will be able to capture it if you desire. The Phantom Garchomp will be in its final form, which is its Mega Form and is level 85. MUCH higher level than it's previous 2 fights that you had with it. It also has a one-hit kill attack called Death Spiral that it can use after its countdown hits 0. Before that countdown hits 0 you can use protect, detect, etc in order to avoid taking damage, or even throwing out a Pokemon with Sturdy.
  22. You know what I want more than anything? Not another mainline Pokemon game for another year, and give us another Pokemon Conquest game or Mystery Dungeon. Super Mystery Dungeon was awesome, but it had pacing issues, and Conquest was a great Disgaea/Fire Emblem/FF Tactics game that I want more of.

Give me more creative side-games and not constant mainline games every year; I'm getting burnt out like no other.

I also hated the living hell out of a lot of the characters and how they built them up with such fanfare, but didn't do crap with them. If their names weren't Lilie or Hao, then they didn't matter at all. They should've done their thing and stopped while they were ahead, than just wasting my time with useless dialogue that didn't amount to ANYTHING.

      *takes breath*

You're not the first person I've heard say that and it's pretty valid honestly. I'm not too excited myself because SM itself wasn't too long ago and I don't feel like it's been long enough yet. Maybe they'll get me interested, maybe not. I believe in judging a game based on it's own merits and negatives however rather than bringing in bias from previous editions.

Team Skull was lit though, loved them. Easily the best part about the games.

    4. Combat

      Combat

My biggest issue in Sun was the lack of exploring and dungeons. The game felt a bit like a rail shooter IMO. That, and some of the Z Crystals were stupidly easy to get, since I was led to believe we would need to work to get all of them.

Guzma was the best leader so far though.

  23. This is what I do, everyday. Sort of. If it's not networking or fixing other people's problems on campus, then it's me reimaging laptops to be sold for like... 10-60 dollars. Seriously, they are that cheap. That said, they are i3's with 4GB of ram and Windows 7 on them. It's perfect for watching movies, YouTube or doing homework. That and I changed out the Hard Drives/DVD Drive and did a tune up on them. We also have i5's with 8GB of ram and dedicated graphics which is cool.

I was multi-tasking all 9 of these laptops XD

Dang, you're good i mean i'd go nuts if i had to handle that many comuters simultanously

  24. Didn't you ask this before, a long time ago? I might be thinking of someone else with a Darkrai avatar. My answer is whenever it's released. I don't hold myself to a schedule, especially since I started working a full-time job at my University. I work on my game, whenever I have time and I'm not exhausted after work. At the moment I'm working on my game, but I'm finishing up some small touches before I let a few, select people, to play my game and test it.
  25. So, Ultra S/M aren't coming to the Switch:

tbh, it's whatever tho. I'm gonna play it regardless of the system, but at least Pokken is getting a DX release with (hopefully) a better roster and some of the Arcade exclusive 'mons included.

And maybe better voice acting xD
