Actually the bit about the barbarian is provably false, in this party you are the second worst interrogation choice, beaten only by the Monk and his low charisma and non violent demeanor. As the only real advantage you have would be your violent nature...which literally anyone can have RP wise. A ranking for interrogating would most likely be: Rei, Yisan, Richard, Althae, Yautja, Maris. Simply because of stats, proficiency, and what their personalities are like, basically Rei would be good due to her skill in using lies to intimidate (And the fact that she will definitely have 20 Charisma no matter what, and will IC become a force of personality by simply becoming stronger), Yisan (If he is taking lore bard he gets expertise and jack of all trades, officially making him one of the best skill monkeys around), Richard (Intimidate and Persuasion along with high charisma, also known as the keys to the kingdom), Althae (The only time she would be there for interrogation would be as a classic "help me help you" technique), Yautja (Middling Charisma and proficiency in Intimidate, and we all know that intimidating someone to do what you want is less effective then persuading them), and Maris (He can lie, but not much else). That and Paladins should be strong interrogation purposes, especially Paladins of Vengeance...have none of you read the Powder Keg of Justice story yet? And have none of you heard of what a classic medieval knight was like? Saying that a Paladin should not be a strong interrogation choice is like saying that a Wizard shouldn't be noticeably stronger than a Fighter at high levels, I mean let's face it, if we are talking about intimidating people; there is nothing against it in my code...and there is nothing helping Yautja be particularly good at it either. Yisan might succeed more often tho, if he takes Intimidate proficiency (Bards get those right?) as part of his +2 skills from lore bard thing and raises Charisma to the roof and uses one of his four expertise slots on it. tl;dr: The Barbarian is a weaker choice for interrogation unless they have a Con is used for social checks instead of charisma. Edit: I vote for Maris as the leader, because that would be hilarious.

Solomon had to stifle a laugh when Edmond mentioned how the Assassin was still unidentified for now, but other than that he was sort of cooperative enough, I mean he did step off of the throne, even if he only did that to step on some more books that still kept him floating on the ground. Solomon immediately laughed after hearing Edmond's request, and he continued by saying "My name is Solomon, and I am a practitioner of the unified magical theory with a focus on chaos magic and summoning a very specific item. This means that I know a whole damn lot about magic, and that I have a very weird way of using said magic. Essentially I cast 'fly' by creating a floating construct made out of books, I cast 'powerbolt' by firing metal books at people, and I have my own little spell that causes your mind to do something, I will not explain what that 'something' is in this context. That and I am pretty sure that I know who the Assassin is by now, or at the very least what legend I think they are from...I mean it's sort of obvious". He stopped talking for a while as he thought long and hard about the assassin's identity before suddenly saying "Oh! I am also good at talking to spirits, especially the kind that make weak willed men do really stupid drek to get away from them.".

If this was a technologically modern world Rei would have found Richard with a newspaper covering his face with two convenient looking eyeholes, but this isn't the modern world, which is why he was simply standing there and counting his torches before responding with "Oh please, it's not like we are married or something, and my name isn't that hard to remember". He follows after Rei anyway, and continues to write down mental notes about why he should definitely get her more appropriate clothing later. -
Because the GM specifically mentioned that we saw the three of you in the market square before we started shopping. That is the only justification I need to see all three of you. Also prisons allow you to edit the surroundings to your liking, and bringing a prisoner out of the city by yourselves is a great way to lose a prisoner.
-
@Jace Stormkirk First of all...why did you post something that is OOC in the IC thread? And second of all the four of you do in fact look quite suspicious, there really isn't anything about two men and a woman walking down the street with a free and unshackled goblin the day after every single goblin in the town that isn't dead or running out of the town or hiding out is either being chased by the city guard or in prison due to the whole "A large horde of goblins just invaded us and for the most part the goblins in the area seem to be bandits and raiders. Also you abducted seven of our people for purpose unknown to anyone but the party members and everyone around that hobgoblin". There is nothing not suspicious about that, mostly because executions are a good way to make the public feel that justice is being served because a decent amount of people just want simple "An eye for an eye" solutions despite that not leading to anything but two blind men. That and why would you be leading a goblin out of town to interrogate them? This is why we have prisons for, and other dark and uncomfortable places where you can interrogate people that isn't their home territory. And let's face it, the only real justification I need is "Oh wait I recognize those people...and they are doing something weird that the guards seem to be ignoring with a free Goblin".

There really wasn't anything not suspicious about a bunch of people trying to stealthily walk down the street while being led on by a free goblin barely a whole day after the entire town was just invaded by an entire horde of the damn things; which is why Richard decided that this was definitely somebody else's problem and proceeded to try and find a stall that was hopefully find a stall that is 'coincidentally' close enough to the path they are walking to monitor them a bit, although that was still not as important as finding some more torches and rope. -
Solomon realized that he was in fact running out of dicking around time, but before he went back to Edmond he made sure to walk over to the lesser AI and uh..Isobel and say "Can you do me a favor? When you meet the assassin, can you please say 'Hey Jason' to them and tell me how they react? Or at least mention being willing to trade a golden fleece for your daughter's hand in marriage". After getting a response from at least one of them he would float over to Edmond and simply say "Hey".
-
After hearing Lexiel's response to his question Solomon was deep in thought, but not too deep to respond to Navin's question by pointing directly at Edmond in his extremely easy to find powered armored suit and saying "That's Edmond over there, he is pretty close to the talking lesser AI from earlier.". He then continued trying to narrow down the assassin's identity, although he was quite sure that there is literally only one possible thing the army could be by this point....sort of. He was definitely sure that if he was on the Assassin team, that he would definitely be looking forward to shouting "JASON NOOOO!".

Richard nodded along to what Althea was saying at the start and responded by saying "You're probably right, I should have went with good old headpatting, although that usually takes a long time to work anyway..". After seeing the drow woman, the spoony bard, and the barbarian walking down the road with a relatively free goblin with them, he couldn't help but nudge Althea a bit before whispering "What a modern family" to her. -

Radovan did what he usually does to polite people who honestly didn't know better and offered a handshake to Rob before saying "It's fine, you didn't know that was going to happen, and no one was physically injured...that and we had an exciting adventure where we met a new and interesting person while also getting vaguely inconvenienced by some shouty women". He then turned to face Ms. Tri again and said "Well they must have redecorated at some point, the place didn't have that sun and bud tile by now, but maybe they were just starting out and didn't have the time to spruce the place up?". -

Richard looks around for a place where he can buy another 50 ft of rope and an additional day of travel rations in the market square, while making sure to check every street corner and odd noise he finds for any suspicious activity, and he essentially spends a significant amount of time trying to gather information on what happened last night, and for any rumors about where the goblins would hide. Also finding another torch, you honestly can't go wrong with buying another torch. -

Seeing that this line of questioning is leading him absolutely nowhere Richard walks off to the market square to get some more supplies just in case. -
I think that we should push the scrawny goblin into trusting us by feeding them and treating them well while they are still of use to us, if he doesn't turn on us then he gets to live like everybody else, and presumably become a CN NPC who eventually segues into CG and presumably wields dual scimitars and has a panther animal companion after taking levels in Ranger or something, but if he does then we make damn sure that he pays for unnecessarily wasting our time with an attempt on our lives.

@DragonRage Solomon persisted in his efforts to ask Lexiel about her goblins, and he cleared his throat again before saying "Why would your goblin-like spirits be so distracting anyway? I mean they are obviously magic, but what does the magic actually do other than keeping them from being pulled back to where they come from? It's probably a useless question, but I just want to know why that woman's skeleton army could be much dumber than your average skeleton army..." Atton had thanked Boomtown at some point for his relatively useless home office waste, but mostly because he feels that he had enough materials there to do....something, he is not really quite sure what that thing is, but he is looking forward to finding out.

Richard managed to not only fight off the effects of the spell with the power of his anime character esque WILL! but also escape the barbarian's attempt to drag him away due to the other man's surprisingly weak grip. He then stood up again, and looked at the barbarian before throwing the man a single gold coin before saying "Do you even lift? Also that should be worth another knife to ya, and don't worry man, I'm a bigger bastard than you are, literally in fact". After presumably managing to walk away from the barbarian he then walked back to the hobgoblin from earlier and set to work on prying the knife that the barbarian had thrown in his general direction from the wood for a bit of time, before approaching the goblin he talked to earlier to say "If you don't talk I'll make damn sure that you and the rest of your little tribe's stay as uncomfortable as possible, I guess a good start would be to lift you up by your feet in an uncomfortable manner? And then we start with the rotten tomatoes again...maybe I'll ask a minstrel if we have any happy songs about killing goblins or stupid goblins to sing....". He ignored the spoony bard again, although he made a mental note to charge the man some money for it. -

Richard ignored the free knife the barbarian gave to him and didn't stop to wonder who the bard was talking to as he continued his line of questioning by saying "That's it? You're only using them as a food source? Quite frankly I'm a little bit disappointed....a real warlord would be more inventive you know, especially a human one, heck I'm sure that even an Elf could see that a better use for the prisoners would be fuel source for a demonic pact, or maybe the beginnings of an undead army, but I guess it's true what they say about goblins isn't it? You're all just useless scum with no mind to think of anything really useful aren't you? Heck I bet that Sinruth is scared, scared that if he crawls out of the rat hole he has dug himself in and called a house...that the 'pink skins' would put him down just like any other animal marching into the slaughter...and I'm sure that you don't know where he is now don't you?". -

Richard shrugged after not getting much of a response from the halfling and went up to the hobgoblin and proceeded to immediately punch it as hard as he can on its face, before pointing at the halfling barbarian and shouting "You don't recognize him do you? This bastard took on a fucking ogre and killed the damn thing, and all of the goblins protecting it while on fire! And you know what? None of your tribe is here, Sinruth and his Red Hand are scared, too yellow bellied to come back here and finish the job properly like a real warlord would!." He then stood up straight and hit the hobgoblin again before continuing with "So tell me what you know about Sinruth's plan for the hostages, and where you are keeping them, or I will personally make sure that the bard over there records your chieftain as an idiotic little girl, and make sure that at least one man would stay here and sing it for as long as it takes, and as badly as he can, until your mind is nothing but an endless stream of the word Widdle! Ya hear me?". -

Richard rolled his eyes at the bard before saying "Oh fine then, the boiling water won't be necessary if with him around" He then looks at the halfling over for a moment before quietly saying "How terrifying can you seem at a moment's notice? People usually respond well to questioning if there is a murderous bastard with a javelin who could kill them at any moment, and the bard could make a decent 'help me help you' type, no better way to make people talk than by making them feel like it is the only way they could get out of this alive...". -
Solomon nodded in response to Edmond and followed him around for a bit while he asked around for where Lexiel is, and after hearing him speak to Hikari he interjected by saying "Do you mean Jade? He is a cowboy....right? But anyway I'm uhhhh, going to leave the two of you to it for a moment, I wanted to ask Lexiel about why her goblins could distract the assassin's army like that, I feel like I am pretty close to finding out exactly who she is supposed to be, or at the very least knowing enough to give the people attacking her ammo to piss her off with, which is nice". He then awkwardly walked over to Lexiel and stood there for a while until she finally seemed calm enough to answer his question of "Why would the skeletons focus fire on your goblins anyway? The whole damn army did that....what do your goblins actually do effect wise is what I am asking here basically".

Richard followed Althea as the pair went to look for the goblins they had incapacitated the night before...and he took mental stock of the materials he could potentially use to speed up the process as he presumably found the cells where they were kept, and had a long conversation with the guard about why the two of them are here, and whether or not the guard can provide some boiling water.
