  1. I think either you misunderstood or I didn't explain myself very well. I'm just confused because you said exactly what I said but took the opposite stance on it! "There's difficulty modes for a reason." EXACTLY RIGHT! This means that the hardest mode should be very hard, and the easiest mode should be very easy. What's the point in having them otherwise? If people struggle on casual, then maybe make it a little easier? idk, its pokemon it can't be that difficult. Point I was trying to make was, you have tech in this game that can facilitate difficulty. At one point, this game was renowned for its difficulty. There is something to be said for this as well. I know it SEEMS like most people would be turned off by it, but the fan game community has a lot of players that are indeed interested in a challenge. That's why Nuzlocke etc has become so prevalent! Great example is World of Warcraft. They do the same thing this game does. Their battles have an extremely difficult option that takes people hundreds of attempts, and they also have an extremely easy option that you couldn't fail if you wanted to. I love difficult fan games and rom hacks, but I know most people have to make them easier to keep the younger crowd interested. But with this game, you have the solution to that already built into it!
  2. Pretty cool overall. A bit disappointed with the difficulty of the gym leader in this one, especially on Intense. Since you now have an option to change the difficulties and have the difficulties in the first place, I would really urge you to consider making the game considerably more challenging. I remember a time where Narcissa was next to unbeatable. That seemed like the appropriate difficulty for a game that was going to feature an "intense" mode. But the big issue is that as we approach the higher levels, our pokemon become very very strong and we have a lot more options. Early on the difficulty is in place because we are to a degree stuck with our options. But now, my Jumpluff and Weezing just took out all 6 of his pokemon being 7~ levels lower. Just wanted to give some thoughts on that. I originally fell in love with this game because of its difficulty, and want to make sure it retains that. Either way, I love it!
  3. Today is the day! Pokemon Rejuvenation version 8! Feels like its been ages since version 7 came out, but its really not even been that long. My plan is to quickly play through and record the stuff from where we left off, and then begin a new save and check out all the changes over the last few episodes as I haven't played most of that since v6. What about you guys?
  4. He will post on that in the thread with the game. Usually a place that is always uniformly similar like a pokemon center, but ones that absolutely haven't changed. Its not the end of the world even if there is an issue though. Just keep both folders and play v7 and move to another area and try v8 again.
  5. Nice work man. You've come so far in such little time!
  6. sick 99 lol that must have taken a while
  7. Where the hell are you going that there is no internet no matter what you do for 1 month lol. Anyway, I was wondering, has anyone here actually played the game? If so, I was hoping to learn how much previous gyms have changed since this last installment? I plan to replay the game and make guides on all the gym leaders and tough battles and wanted to know how many have actually changed with this new episode. Is that part of the beta test though, or do you guys only play the immediately new things.
  8. Looks like there's an error. That link doesn't work for me! Glad to see its finally finished though!
  9. Reborn forum keeps going down. Is it because so many people keep refreshing this thread to see about beta progress?
  10. Now will be the time to restart whenever this comes out! You really are missing a lot without the extra difficulty. The game is soooo good when you play it on Intense. The story is funny and compelling, but the gameplay is actually amazing for a fan game. Really impressive.
  11. I much prefer the gen 3 style sprites etc. I wouldn't mind seeing the tech (like the in game nuzlocke etc) as well as the on screen stat changes becoming a part of this and other fan games, but in general I find everything about Reborn more engaging. Z/O and Insurgence are a bit to vanilla for my taste. Reborn feels like its own universe. Difficulty is also a big let down in Insurgence. There is really nothing difficult about it. I think the big thing that sets Reborn and of course Rejuvenation apart from other games is the field effects. Its a really interested extra level of difficulty. Either way, both take a long time to release, so maybe by the time they are complete there will be more of a tech crossover or some other way they can collaborate. At the very least, give us those inflatable Lapras type items!
  12. I also don't like Nuzlocke. It seems like artificial difficulty to me, and that's not enjoyable. The game isn't balanced around pokemon never dying. I much prefer a game like this or Crystal Kaizo where simply beating the battles and completing the game is the difficult part. I have also learned to enjoy more unconventional "challenge" runs though. I did a few where I pick 6 pokemon and edit them in and try to beat the entire game with only those 6. It was fun also trying to do it with a Gym Leader theme, pretending I was a gym leader from a different region and only using 6 that all shared a type. Also tried a Team Rocket run where I editing the game so balls can catch trainer's pokemon too. Was fun, but caused a few glitches so I was never able to complete it. Things like that are infinitely more fun than "if your pokemon faints you can't use it any more." Some times making them faint helps you win the battle!
  13. I totally agree, take as much time to make the game as possible. I am not surprised to see impatient individuals upset though, especially those younger and more impressionable within the current games market. From my perspective, perhaps there is a better way to address this testing period as something other than calling it a "beta" especially after "Alpha?" Its a bit of a tease for these individuals, especially since you aren't allowing them to have any chance of testing it themselves. Perhaps something like "Polishing" to come after the developing stage would be more benign? Idk, people will always be aggressively impatient I suppose, which is really really unfair for some one doing this for passion and no profits whatsoever. Just something to consider. It may solve some of these types of issues before they develop! Or actually create an application for people to sign up for. Even if you take 0 of them ever, these individuals will at least feel somewhat involved by the process.
  14. Hey just wanted to let you know the link doesn't work for the beta application. It looks like you copied whatever was on your clipboard instead of the correct link! I do it all the time, nothing to worry about. Just a heads up!
  15. Really? That's interesting, usually the battles change a bit every build. Like the pokemon they use, move sets, levels etc. The reason I ask is because I've made guides of all the Intense battles, but that was a few builds ago. Last build people started commenting that a lot of the battles have changed (Especially Valarie) So I was going to start remaking them until I saw this thread. I was going to get started before it came out if there was no changes to them, but at this point I think I'll just wait either way.
  16. Main question I have is how many gym battles have changed in between the previous episode and the new one? I know that's a very niche question though, so if you can't answer it no worries. I intend to find out myself either way, but would be nice to know before restarting.
  17. I see, so a public release that I myself can play will be what, 2+ weeks away?
  18. Very excited! Can't wait to play this - my current plan is to play through the new stuff then start over from scratch to update all the Gym Leader guides I've done as people constantly tell me a lot has changed with them! Looking forward to playing this very much. So does anyone know how it works from here? It goes to "beta" phase after this then? And does that mean that only select people can test it, or is it open for everyone but its acknowledged that there may still be some bug fixes needed?
  19. I would say EV training should NOT be needed for Reborn's difficulty. Simply observe the level cap and play for match ups if you are having trouble. There are a few trials in the game for sure, but after playing though Reborn multiple times with a serious mindset, I found no need for any perfectly optimized pokemon. That level of difficulty can be seen in Intense Mode for Pokemon Rejuvenation, for example. There are few situations out there in any fan game where max EVs is going to be anything other than your choice per time.
  20. Amethyst, Arno and I wish you well! I actually battle some moderate Carpal Tunnel complications, including occasional numbness. Recently I thought the same as you - this was going to plague me for ever and my computer life may be coming to an end. The wrist doctor I saw told me about stretches and a device to wear on the wrist to keep it straight whenever you can. The stretches especially have helped 200 percent. Whenever I start to feel the pain and issues coming on I stretch my arm out as hard as I can push it and it usually goes right away for the day! Another step for me was a new keyboard, desk, and mouse though. I was in a really improper situation before, and I know with Laptops it could be even worse. You should invest in a separate mouse/keyboard for your set up if that's the case, it will really stymie the issue in the short term.
  21. Ya in my experience the Zetta and Geara double battle is simply out of control. Its incredibly luck dependent. At least it was for my approach. Maybe you guys came up with better ways around it, but here's how I did it, and basically even with solid training and 1to1 counters, Melia simply just got in the way so much. Doubles are fun, but a lot less fun when the second pokemon isn't my own!
  22. I was thinking of doing something similar, but without staying withing the normal confines of the game. My plan was to do random rolls, say 20 times and pick 6 from those 20 that I would try to beat the entire video game with. I'd of course max everything and make them the best I could have them, but its actually quite a fun challenge. I did a fighting style run like this a few weeks past and I was surprised to learn that I struggled as early as Shelly Anyway, good luck, I'll be reading to hear how this turns out for you. Thanks for the tip on the randomizer as well, didn't know that existed honestly.
  23. I have 20 some pokemon in rotation, and the one I am most impressed with is Slowbro. I've not used a Slowbro since MAYBE gen 1, and even then I doubt it. I don't know if its the game, or I have just always undersold the pokemon, but he is by far one of my best right now. Oh ya, and as others pointed out Swasbuck is really surprising as well, but that was mostly because I didn't have a healthy appreciation for the grass type until I played this game.
