  1. Maine's Governer openly incites violence against blacks and hispanics. Claims he's not racist. Also a Trumper.

  2. There is an anime pokemon bible based on the anime that explains a lot of stuff not seen in the show. Oak was never champ though, in fact Pallet town had like only one really good trainer and that was 100 years ago, although Oak and Gary are related to him. Somebody on FAQs had a thread about it, it was very interesting although certainly cements as the game's canon and anime's canon as different things. Also ash's dad and grandpa both disappeared on their journey to become trainers. A lot of guys do this, and many end up failing to make something of themselves. It's partly why so many workers on the show are women.
  3. First impressions are important in games, and it's nice to have a game make you want to play it before you've even pressed a button on your controller. What are some of your favorite videogame openings? Dead or Alive 2 Ultimate had a rather memorable one where it gave some nice backstory in some impressive for its time CGI(ayane's hair in the haircut scene is still impressive even today)and all set to Aerosmith's Dream On, which might seem awfully cheesy at first but works so well that it ends up awesome. See for yourself...Dimensions had the same video but without Aerosmith it's just not as good. Dead or Alive needs Aerosmith back(though I did like Bomb Factory's Exciter in DOA2) and it's one thing DOA5 in all its iterations is lacking. Also, Dead or Alive 4 also has a very good ending movie in the same vein, set to Aerosmith's Amazing. Soul Calibur's 2 opening is HYPE. It lets you know you're about to play an epic fighter and the CGI was top tier for its time. This was back when Japan regularly had the best looking games out and the whole thing does a good job of showing off the roster with epic music and sound direction. Guilty Gear Xrd plays like an awesome opening to an anime, but what really sells it for me is Heavy Day, which is one of the hypest opening tunes you can get. In fact I usually just skip the exposition in the beginning and head straight to the music since that's the best part. Speaking of anime, we can't forget the legendary Namco X Capcom opening. The entire Namco X series has great openings but out of the 3 this one is probably my favorite. Sonic Adventure's opening is still my favorite sonic opening, and Open Your Heart is straight up one of my favorite videogame tracks ever(though admittedly i like Live and Learn and What I'm Made Of over it but they weren't used in openings. An awesome way to start a new era of Sonic. Legacy Of Kain: Soul Reaver's opening still awes me even now, with it's wonderful narration and incredible music. It's such a perfect start to the epic Soul Reaver saga.. Ah one more: Persona 3's opening. It oozes style and the music is fantastic.
  4. But Nick sawk and throh are based off judo and karate...like your ideas are cool but then they'd be totally different pokemon. Their designs are a legit criticism(they're not very scary looking for oni based pokemon) but to change their style basis would stray too much from the pokemon's original concept. Sawk is a bad name for a Karate based pokemon though, Stryke would've been slightly better although still not that great.
  5. Mind blown at realizing G.U.N is probably why Eggman is such a jerk.

    1. Jacobliterator

      Jacobliterator

Totally right. I feel so bad for Eggman.

    2. Anstane

      Anstane

I can see part of it, what with the entire Gerald Robotnik thing, but...I don't think G.U.N is 100% guilty of why Eggman is what he is. At least part of it has to come from somewhere else.

    3. Cepheus

      Cepheus

the really sad part is... Eggman seems to have unlimited resources (ALL the Egg-fleets and Death-Eggs...)

and he could do so much good for the world with his 300+ IQ...

  6. Hitmonlee is based off Tae Kwon Do/kickboxing and Hitmonchan boxing, which neither Bruce Lee or Jackie Chan are really known for. Kind of silly to name martial arts pokemon after martial artist who don't even practice the same art. Those two were chosen due for their popularity among English speaking audiences rather than the pokemon itself. It's the equivalent of naming Sawk after Myke Tyson and Throh after Muhammad Ali. Sure they're great fighters and all but they have nothing to do with karate and judo. Kangaskhan is rather stupid too looking back.
  7. Huh I never thought about that. Definitely possible given its dark typing, though not really fitting for the pokemon itself. But neither is hitmonlee/chan.
  8. Still trying to figure out Drapion. I get the -pion being from scorpion(even though I always say Dray-pee-on) but what about Dra? Is it just derived from Dark and having the r and a switched? Or is Dra coming from drapes or drag? That one I don't quite get.
  9. Congrats atlantis. Comeback of the century and if pokenations were a game, Xiri would be the main protag. GOOD FREAKIN Gs
  10. The WP play was a work of art. Though you were fortunate d-nite didn't hit itself for the KO.
  11. Chimecho being chime+echo. The whole wind chime theme was lost on me for a long time until gen 4 with finding out chingling was his prevo(which I didn't even know until I evolved it by accident). And even then I kept pronouncing it wrong until years later.
  12. I wouldn't call Victoria a Scrappy. She's not outright hated or anything, and her detractors honestly come off as a vocal minority to me. Fern is actually quite popular, as he's a love to hate kind of villain. Too popular to be a Scrappy, and he's not a Base Breaker either. Titania? Yeah she's a BaseBreaker. Bennet is probably the only character who comes close to being a Scrappy. EDIT: actually Heather in the early episodes was definite Scrappy material and flat out detestable, but I feel she was "Rescued from the Scrappy Heap" in later episodes.
  13. LOL that had to be the best boast post in Nations yet.
  14. ... Like I'm not even mad. Honchy played like a boss. Gonna be honest: we thought you were going to be free, honchy. But fact is, you played well and Pbood's fighting weakness hurt him a bunch. It was a good match, both of you did well. Well done honchy. Well done man.
  15. I want to see Amazon win. They handed us our first loss, and it's nice to see them win against the team we could never beat.
  16. I've come here to congratulate you all. You and Atlantis were Gaia's deadliest opponents, as it seems we lost to you every time(i think). You've made it to the grand finals...truly mighty the Amazons have turned out to be. Personally speaking, I'd rather you guys take home the gold, so know that I'll be rooting you on. DO IT AMAZON! FIGHT. WIN. The Heavens, the earth, the seas they shall be yours! You have gaia's blessing, now go forth, and claim RIGHTFUL VICTORYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!! Do try not to make a mess though.
  17. This is my first nations and it was certainly worth getting in. while truthfully Gaia was one of my last picks in teams I wanted to join(especially after Jericho told me I was in Ravenholts in main chat lol) I ended up really enjoying my team with Gaia and it got me a new respect for normal types. DW was a major bro, and one of the friendliest, coolest dudes on the forum TBH(he uses hat a lot). He always helped out with teambuilding and mocks, and overall probably one of the most active members on the team. Pbood is another one that really gave it his all, and was always a blast to train/battle with. He's a bit excitable but that's because he's very friendly, and wasn't afraid to speak up either about things he had issue with. pyrromanis always kept our spirits high, and no matter how bleak things got, managed to have fun. Gaia's heart, if you will, and a really upbeat dude. The apologetic Roswell, humble as he may be, was a big friend and awesome support. Tartar provided much help and a great member of our team, as well as quite informative. ICSW didn't stay the whole way through, but it's understandable, and she's still a good friend and person. Other teams played really well, and I want to mention Amazon's sparky, Ravenholts' coolgirl, Atlantis' Morshu, Zumi, and while she has her fair share of -ahem -haters, Avalon's Secundum as she made this competition quite interesting with her presence and legitimately did a fine job as leader. Xiri deserves major props as well for making a hero's comeback.
  18. I got the flare and skull ones. The others, not so much. And what about Galactic and Aqua? I don't really see Rocket's TBH.
  19. Morshu with that beautiful 6-0 win. Atantis is going to drown you guys at this rate. in fact Amazon could overtake your spot for finals, no? Has the Golden Age of Avalon come to an end?
  20. http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/reborn-tiershift-66847 A win for Gaia in my match against Sparky. GGs friend, I feel we both learned some things this match.
