Maybe you're thinking of island kahunas? There's the trial captains and then there's the island kahunas. Was it said that Lana and Mallow or both on the second island, or that the totem Gumshoos is part of Kiawe's trial? And 15 sounds like an expected level for the first island, although I don't think the first island has the volcano, so.

A normal type totem Pokemon doesn't necessarily mean there's a normal type trial captain, as the trial captain isn't using those totem Pokemon in battle. The totem trials are related to the island challenges/obstacles, not to battling a trial captain or island kahuna. I think there's one trial captain for each island, since there are four islands and we've been shown four trial captains.

You can get Blue Moon Ice Cream from two Sheridan help requests, "Get an Item" and "Hidden Library 2". For Hidden Library 2 you need to give the book to the person asking for it to get the ice cream, but if you haven't gotten the third badge yet I'd wait until after then because you can use it to read some statues there and get a Gothita.

Not sure about Soothe Bell, but Lucky Egg isn't available yet and Exp Share is in one of the rooms in the Gearen Laboratory that's locked. You need the Room ID Card from Melia's bloody bag in Amethyst Cave.

We don't know if Crescent convinced Ren to join Team Xen, since we didn't see their conversation. Ren just said he wanted answers, and Crescent said he'd get them. It could be that he joined Team Xen after of his own will. EDIT@ topic: here's my thoughts from another prophecy-related thread.

E15 came out in early June, E14 came out in December 2014. There's not a specific time frame they aim for; it's released whenever the content and testing phases are finished.

I think he was asking where to find them, not where to go after finding them. One of them is behind vines in the Jasper Ward southeast of the Pokemon Center. You need to beat the PULSE Tangrowth to get to him, which makes the vines go away. Another is in a house in the north part of Jasper Ward reached through the northeast exit of the forest, being held hostage by a grunt. Another is in one of the caves in Rhodocrine Jungle.
