  2. It's suggested not to as it often looks out of place. For example imagine 3rd gen models in that tileset. But it actually looks really nice to me how they're using fourth gen sprites on 5th gen tiles. Really, really nice.

  4. ENTP-A (Debater) Wasn't a big fan of that quiz, many of my answers would change in a heartbeat in different situations. Neat eye opener though. 2% Extraverted 40% Intuitive 11% Thinking 34% Prospecting 4% Assertive I'm a villian guys, it's confirmed.
  5. This idea of balance and scaling was mentioned earlier. These starters are all a cut above ordinary Pokemon but some aren't so great at the start or amazing at the end. That's why you get a general starter near the end of the Episode. Also, it balances out eventually, I mean stats wise Walrein is far superior to Meowstic. But each to their own I guess, it took a while to try and balance the starters and I don't think I'll change them any time soon.

  10. Mac huh? I won't lie and say I know what the problem is. I can nail down problems on windows stuff quick but I don't have a mac, and don't know the problem. Buuuutttt that being said I have heard that it's often caused by the music that plays on victory, so perhaps delete Victory!, Victory2 and Victory3 from \PokemonDesolation\Audio\BGM and tell me if that works!

  13. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a bad spriter. However, I need some help with this one. I'm adding mega evolutions for a select few legendaries in my fangame and this one for Mega Darkrai has started to become really difficult for me. If anyone gets some spare time to try and sprite this mega evolution I'd really appreciate it, and I'll throw in 500 Rupees for those who want it.   14. Not going to read the pages of themes on this thread, so I'll just skip to the download size part. Note that in RPG Maker XP projects the majority of the download is in fact BGM, but the download size really shouldn't go further than 800mb. When compressed into a .rar almost all fangames are 500-600mb or under. Unless animated battlers are being used I don't think a fangame should ever be at 2-4Gb as Commander described. Keep that in mind when you decide on music, make sure music is in .mp3 format so that tracks don't end up being like 20mb each. Completed projects actually don't tend to be that much bigger than their first release, assuming all the music is decided on early. So don't freak out if you hit the 500mb mark in Ep 1. That's my piece, good going guys.
  15. If you want some helping with eventing I wouldn't mind lending a hand. Like if there's some game situation you're not entireeely sure how to make you could pm me a script and I could try and make it happen I could make some maps too, I posted some examples on the first page of this thread. Yes, third gen, yada yada, if you want I can show you some fifth gen creations. But I wouldn't mind making a few maps for you.

  17. The problem of animated sprites was indeed solved a while back, basically animated sprites are in png format and are read from left to right in a loop. The real decision is whether to use the 3D animated X/Y styled sprites or the 2D B/W styled sprites. Here's what a png 3d Sprite actually looks like rather than a gif:
  18. I want to put a lot more effort into this episode to be honest, I've added a whole rewards system, a base/guild system and I mapping the last map. In terms of story though, I'm taking my time. That and I'm in exam time, so... Yeah. TLDR: - Mapping is basically done. - Sidequests are done. - Spriting is done. - Story has a wee way to go. I'll have it out sometime in early October I imagine.
  19. Way ahead of you. I have nurses located in the middle of large routes, but for them to heal you, you must first beat them in a battle. Generally nurses will be much harder than general trainers. Also nurses act as a checkpoint, if you black out you'll teleport to the last known nurse you healed at.

  21. m8 why are you even asking this question, the answers obvious. Let me tell you about my good man Stunfisk. You see Stunfisk with his doormat face that's flatter than my future? He doesn't even need to smile and he still looks like a model. I mean damn, have you seen his sprite in X/Y? It's literally a flat line because the game can't handle how he goddamn gorgeous he is. Stunfisk is pretty much the goddamn king with that crown thing sticking off his tail. I mean come on, have you ever heard of any other king who wears their crown on their tail? Case closed.
  22. Actually if I may, using different trees might not really be necessary. You could touch up the tree line by removing the spaces (make sure the tops of the trees are on layer 3, where the bottom is on layer 2), and also both you and Skys could also change them so the trees aren't in a straight line, this is what I mean: Before: Trees in a straight line, looks too uniform, unnatural. After: Trees look slightly diverse, looks more natural and much better imo. That aside, your maps look really nice Sky, I'm calling another Reborn/Gearen City. (I hope the lack of transparency is just a tile bug though)
  23. I hate to say this, but not all the story of this game will be on this thread will it? I'm really interested in this project, and it's a little hard to ignore the rather public development of this, but maybe at least throw a spoiler tag somewhere because I'm literally reading this story being made in front of me. I'd rather not know what will happen, but maybe that's just me. That being said, this seems like it'll be really cool

Well I decided to continue using Gen 3 Graphics in Desolation, but it's likely that soon (due to some helpful support) I might be launching a project that will run alongside Desolation, but this project will run Gen 5 Graphics for immersion, ultimately. Thanks for all the opinions! Ahhh, self esteem boost, nice and powerful. Thanks!
  25. I'm glad, no really, because I realized it was far from the potential I aimed for. I believe Episode 2 so far is miles better than anything I've done before, I hope you'll all like it when I get it out
