It's just that the last level is unambiguously romantic, AND girls that are at level 8 or 9 get jealous if you go above that level with somebody else, with the very real risk of reversing the link... So yeah, it's not that you cannot pick a "let's stay friends" option, it's just tht such option does not exist at all, you are never given a real choice: to max out a link, you need to go through the level 10 event, and that is always romantic.

This was fixed in P3P (the male route still has this problem, but the female one doesn't) and more notably in P4.

Smeargle has the lwoest base stat total of all Pokemon not to be part of an evolutionary family.

In the Gamecube Games, Smeargle's tail has a brown tip in its normal coloration (as it was in Gen II) instead of a green one, despite these games being part of Generation III. This is due to the games reusing models from Pokemon Stadium 2 for the first and second Generartion Pokemon.

It is also the only evolution introduced after the generation of its pre-evolution that is able to evolve again. Porygon2 is the only one in its family to not receive an audible voice despite having a cameo in Super Smash Bros. Melee, where Pokemon have recorded voices. This also makes it the only out of the first 493 to not have a voice.

In Gen II, it is possible for Porygon2 to have both effects of Curse. One is by simply using it to the non-Ghost-type effect of Curse. The other is by using either Conversion or Conversion 2 to change its type to Ghost and have the Ghost effect of Curse. The other two Pokemon that can do this are Smeargle and Porygon.

Remoraid, along with Pancham, are the only Pokemon so far that are needed to evolve another Pokemon in the same party. Without Remoraid's presence, Mantyke cannont evolve into Mantine. In the anime, however, it's shown that Slowpoke needs Shellder to evovle into Slowbro.

Despite that Remoraid is cosnidered a dweller of deep seas it is most oftenc aught or seen in same lakes or ponds in the games.

Seriously if I had never accidentally read that Remoraid is based on a revolver and Octillery is based on a cannon, I would have never noticed. Even if Octillery's name is so obvious. Remoraid looks nothing like a gun to me.
