  1. Youthful Zumi is somewhat similar to Generic Me....look at that even the same classes. Trade in her impulse for being ....toxic however. --- Since Mael came through with a potential game explanation for himself - I'm not a pre-promote at all - and certainly not Frederick (or in Mael's case a more handsome -slightly- less young Gunter.) tier. I'm probably more associated with Selena (minus being who Selena is as a backstory) than anyone else. Someone who's existence is largely founded by loyalty to someone - so definitely a retainer type character - or someone like Silas or Kaze.
  2. 1. Based on my experiences with 'Boo Camp', 'Anna on the Run', 'Vanguard Dawn', and 'Ghostly Gold' - your DLC will be available to play in every save file regardless of route. 2. You may also claim gifts from Anna again in different routes and saves.
  3. Counter isn't exactly the -most- ideal skill for a dodge tank because ideally you would want that unit to not have to take damage in the first place, so if you could find one of those skills (I'd pick Lancebreaker) it would easily fit better than Counter. Renewal is just the best skill in the game - for a majority of units in my experience.. Lifetaker is up there - but it would seem your Hana is built with defense in mind over offense, and Lifetaker requires you to defeat enemies on your phase fairly often to be used often.
  4. Are you a super hero? What's your signature move? Do you have a catch phrase? Do you have your eye on one the many damsels in distress you encounter on a minutely basis? Are you the hero Gotham needs despite not being the hero Gotham deserves? Cape or no cape? ... Sorry. What's your favorite thing about the Reborn community (other than me, that one's a given.)? What kinds of dreams do you have? Where do you see yourself in five years? Mystic, Instinct, or (your superior if not) Valor? If you -had- to run for public office, which office would you run for? Least favorite type of food? Favorite major news outlet? Least favorite "trend" (AMA threads don't count.)?
  5. Not using Taco Meat or Lobster Lord definitely makes Birthright a bit more challenging, as Setsuna, and Hana/Hinata simply don't compare in sheer advantage over the opponent. The Fujin Yumi virtually ignores terrain effects, allowing up for really stupid things like Takumi pretending to be Jesus and walking over large bodies of water on the map. Raijinto gives Ryoma a powerful 1-2 ranged weapon that still has the ability to critical. However, using them (and as a beginner, I damn well did) REALLY breaks the difficulty Birthright may have. Unlike Leo's Brynhildr (a unit that you should try to use in my opinion as he's easily the weakest royal of the bunch - baring younger sisters unpromoted) - the two power weapons in this game are very much "power weapons" and cause their wielders to become downright gamebreakers when played to their strengths. Ryoma goes even further as a Swordmaster - having Duelist's Blow, Vantage, and Astra naturally. As a unit, he's able to 1 turn Shigure's paralogue even on higher difficulties.
  6. Story (Storytelling): Birthright Cast (Characters): Conquest Gameplay Elements (I.e. ability to grind supports and experience without having to purchase DLC): Birthright Difficulty (General experience playing the game): Conquest Variety (Objectives (Route the enemy, Defeat the Boss, Defend an area, Escape, etc)): Conquest Tom, I'll give you Conquest being stupid frustrating at times. It's never to the point where it's unfair - but in comparison to Birthright, it will make you restart and restart often. Part of the advertising for Conquest was that it appealed to pre-Awakening players and one of it's biggest strengths was that it was more of a trial than it's counterpart. Going in, the game wants you to have played Birthright first - almost giving off the impression that it's features are features you may take for granted when starting a Conquest run. The character roster is definitely worth it. Children aren't carbon copy Awakening caricatures. Later units are intriguing and traditional all at the same time. Birthright isn't totally overshadowed, but your favorite route is most likely determined by what you care about most in a game. For me, it's cast - and Conquest delivers much more in characters than Birthright does. Addendum: Some of the better characters in the route aren't the crazies, but the crazies provide a bigger spotlight for the few normals out there. For example, Camilla is a very polarizing character - you either enjoy how much of a beast she is or you refuse to use her because she can break the game early - and her "momma bear" style and constant pursuit of the Avatar can be off-putting. In the route, characters that I thought shined were Selena (whose alpha-bitch behavior isn't totally unbelievable.), Benny, Charlotte (Who can be considerably crazy - but she's specifically relateable to me.), Xander, Leo, and Effie.
  7. So over the course of this week here in America as well as the next, the two major parties will stage their equivalent of "comic con", "anime con", "E3", whatever. I know. y'all are super excited. --- THIS WEEK'S RECAP: REPUBLICAN NATIONAL CONVENTION - CLEVELAND, OHIO. This actually happened. Donald Trump actually became the nominee... but how did his campaign do throwing a party big enough for an elephant? Here's my three goals. > Indict Hillary Clinton and point out the deficiencies with the Obama administration. > Sell Self to Unlikely Voters. (women, minorities, LGBTQ) > Unite Republicans behind the Donald. ---- Starting with Hillary - this was something the GOP overdid it on. The entire convention slate was stacked with former and acting Republican politicians, as well as big names like 'Duck Dynasty' entrepreneur Willie Robertson, to common folk like pastors and police sergeants, to people involved with the Benghazi, Libya consulate attack - such as soldiers on the ground and even the still anguished mother of one of the four lost lives. The ringing can still be heard in my living room - the chant of the week? "Lock. Her. Up." - in reference to the evidence presented against Secretary Clinton by FBI Director James Comey - who despite laying out what appeared to be factual malpractice of the office and endangerment of American lives through her usage of a private server and deleting of several leaked classified e-mails, recommended "NO charges" for the presumptive Democratic nominee. The convention was used as a second trial against Clinton, where the delegates on the floor quickly turned into the angriest of mobs I've ever seen - lit up by incendiary speakers that made the case that Hillary was literally "Lucifer" at one point. Outside of the Grand 'Ole Party - It's hard to see the Republicans' decorum being seen as a likely landing spot for undecided voters when it comes to incriminating Clinton. They had enough throughout the week to succeed, but they also maybe made themselves look bloodthirsty and ruthless in doing so. B- --- Day 4 of the convention was the brightest day for multiple reasons. It was the day Donald Trump officially accepted his nomination - and it was the day they allowed an unlikely face to take the podium. Peter Thiel, the co-founder of PayPal and an openly gay man, took the podium before Ivanka Trump was to give her father her introductory remarks. He uttered the phrase "I am proud to be gay, and I am proud to be a Republican." This mostly elicited cheers from the party that has traditionally sided with Evangelicals over the LGBTQ community when it comes to social matters - but -did- draw booing from the North Carolina delegation - the state that signed the HB2 bathroom bill - when he addressed that the country used to care about bigger things than "which bathroom people used." It wasn't just gays that were given nods from the speakers and the Trump camp. Blacks were given encouragement to continue seeking justice for their community despite the party favoring Law Enforcement. Latin America was given some pandering despite Trump's anti-Mexican rhetoric. Ivanka provided one of the better speeches of the convention - attempting to convince the nation that Donald Trump was on the front lines of fighting wage inequality for women as someone with control of a pocketbook. In summary, the Trump campaign looks to revolutionize the Republican platform, and went so far as reaching all the way across the aisle to disgruntled Bernie Sanders supporters on Protectionism to provide the party with a new influx of voters. B+ --- This is where it all went south for the Donald however. Starting with Monday, the division within the GOP quickly became apparent when the Ted Cruz supporting delegates in the hall opened the convention by calling for a vote on the rules and caused a minor disturbance the Trump camp had to extinguish. The vote didn't ever get called - and the dissenters were told to shove it. Tuesday began the day where the rest of the country - from Liberals and Team Hillary to on-the-fence GOPers - were scrutinizing Melania Trump's apparent plagiarism of - of ALL people - Michelle Obama. On Wednesday, Ted Cruz himself had been gifted a prime-time speaking spot at the convention - and he used to blatantly NOT endorse the presumptive nominee and rally the base - opting for telling the voters to "Vote their conscience" instead - causing the pro-Trump crowd (particularly the New York delegation) to begin insulting and booing Cruz off the stage. The defeated Texas senator doubled down this morning in an interview with the Lone Star State's delegation - claiming he would never be a sniveling puppy dog for Trump and wouldn't endorse a man who attacked his father and his wife. This should go without saying, not all Republicans have bought in. D AVERAGE - C+ - It was a party, and those who are party loyalists should be excited. We got to see how surprisingly, Trump's children are class acts. Outside of that, there was a lot of mishaps and there was also a seemingly obvious divide between Republicans in Cleveland experiencing the convention high from those outside of the Quicken Loans Arena. --- the Democratic Convention is again, next week - nominating Hillary Clinton. Will Bernie Sanders act out of turn or will he hold on to his word and keep his endorsement? Who's Hillary running mate?
  8. I forget which house has the Dual Club, but that's a nice pickup. By that point you should have > Arthur - if you haven't benched him, he could use something to beat ....what is it, sword users? > Beruka - who won't have much appeal like Camilla does with tomes outside of her axe use. > Camilla ...to make use of it.
  9. Chapter 10 is one of the better chapters in the game when it comes to difficulty in Normal. It still provides you to very little room for error because the goal of the enemy army isn't KOing your units so much as it is "Get to the red zone." Not using Camilla on principle is arguable, and in later chapters you don't want to feed Camilla enemies your other unpromoted units need more - but Camilla serves as a better anti-air unit than most units barring Niles and Archer Mozu. She is just as effective as the aforementioned bow users at putting away the opposing Sky Knights - who pose the biggest threat of 'Game Over' due to being able to fly straight to the area you're defending. If I remember correctly, I used my Heart Seal on Mozu, but didn't get her enough experience to hang with Niles and ended up using Arthur instead. I took Effie and Arthur and defended the eastern ballista against the enemy Archers no problem, while placing Silas on the western chokepoint against the enemy Onis. I had Felicia support me for the Demoiselle boost while promoting Elise with the Master Seal obtained from one of the villages to Strategist. Felicia had me, Niles (who manned the central ballista), and eventually Selena and Beruka covered in the center, while Elise used her movement to tend to Silas, Arthur, Azura, Nyx (who manned the fire orb) and Effie in the back ranks. Camilla didn't need any help, she took care of the Sky Knight assault and even took the village under Oboro's watchful eye. I didn't bother with Hinata because Triple Threat is scary - and the Speedwing(whatever) isn't worth messing with Taco Meat in Normal. The biggest issue for me was the central-western breakable wall. That was covered by Beruka - and it needed Niles to abandon the ballista at times as well as Felicia to leave me alone for a while to lock down. Hinata's offensive was the most difficult part of the game, barring Taco Meat being Taco Meat.
  10. So, #Cruz2020 started off either brilliantly, or rather foolishly - telling voters to "vote their conscious" at the Republican National Convention and failing to endorse Trump.

YES exactly. I don't like him at all but I admire that he stayed true to himself.

I'm expecting him to flip flop eventually but real talk, screw Trump.

To be frank, Trump acted like a major asshole towards all of his Republican opponents while Hillary didn't shit-talk Bernie even once. As much as I hate Hillary, I really don't think I could endorse Trump after all the crap he pulled this last year.

  11. This is where we start trying to avoid "pie in the sky" hopes here. As much as nobody wants to be harmed - there is various causes of harm, including harming ourselves. Pain, at least from my fingertips, will never be in this forum as something that's wrong with the world. It's a part of life. That being said, we can operate in a way so that we don't intentionally cause harm to others. --- Most of the time, objective morality falls on the standard of God yes... most of the time. However, if only most of the time it must at least be possible for people to adhere to objective morality -without- believing in God. Historically, the presumed existence of a deity established what "right" and "wrong" was - so it's easy to see why most OM proponents are religious. However, if the standard isn't on God but something like the "Golden Rule" or even something inspired by the Rede - you can still say something like "cheating on your partner is wrong" or "helping an elderly woman carry her groceries is right." without question. Your own quote from RationalWiki says "most of the time." - so it would seem objective morality shared between religious people and non-religious people is most certainly possible with that kind of evidence alone.
  12. Hyper Training is probably the one feature I am most excited about in this game. Pokemon has always been about "loving and forming strong bonds with your Pokemon" - and the only way to do that is to beat the game with a team and then box them forever while you breed OTHER Pokemon to compete against your friends with. What ends up happening here is that your story team ...never quite makes it up to par and you end abandoning the "form strong bonds with your Pokemon" mantra once you get through the game once in favor of filling your boxes with milions of subpar breeding results until you find the right Pokemon - or you cheat and 'gotta 'Sav 'em all.' Hyper Training allows for people to fix most of the deficiencies within their Pokemon that they make memories with throughout the story to make them competitively viable both in Individual Values and Effort Values. It allows you to use that Rowlett or Litten or....whatever the heck that water starter is from the beginning of the game against your friends 6 IV Garchomp without being at a statistical disadvantage - and it's a method that stack up against that person who clearly used PokeSav shamelessly. HT doesn't seem to be the end all best way however. Egg Moves will become the main reason people should breed - but so long as there are TMs (and hopefully Tutors) perhaps the competitive landscape becomes even EASIER to access for more and more trainers - while enabling the ones that started our journey with us to join the group.
  13. Sorry Ikaru, but despite Flora being a corrinsexual... "Jakob....I didn't actually swear allegiance [to Corrin]...when my sister and I were taken from our village we were forced into service. When I was allowed to return I stayed...for you." - Chapter 8 of Conquest, if Flora engages in combat with Jakob.
  14. "Subjective Morality" is like....my least favorite phrase ever - but here, you weren't advocating for it so much as you were pointing out various types of people ascribe to it and that there must be some kind of "shared" morality code that every would ascribe to because they are a human being, so you're safe. This is one of the few times where the Wiccan's Rede Ame supplied you there would be reasonably applicable - but not because it's a standard, it's more like a degree of apathy at worst and at best it's NOT holding anyone to a standard terribly much. Only prerequisite being that you don't harm others in doing whatever it is you want to do. It would seem on the surface that the Rede would at least fix a lot of the Earth's problems...except there are lots of "terrible" Witches (under the assumption every human being should live by this mantra, not actual Wiccan people of faith.) out there, because the first part of that clause is just as important as the second. If the world truly payed attention to the first part of that phrase "if it harm none" we wouldn't be talking about wars, family violence, gang violence, rape, killing of black people/police officers unjustly, what have you. Unfortunately, several advocates of subjective or relative morality tend to believe that causing another harm IS a moral action - and if morality is subjective - then there's no way to claim that the person is wrong and -definitely- no way to charge them under that moral code. I would agree that there needs to be a "shared" moral compass - but I would have a hard time believing it would be remotely subjective. The best advice I'd have for a non-Christian is just believe in objective morality first and live by it.
  15. If your entire team consists of Pokemon that make use of Quiver Dance, you DESERVE to be hated. #notreallybutkinda --- I admittedly am a fan of silent protagonists because there are not character traits that don't truly belong to the player - making it easier to inject the player into the story. However - the player character being "reactionary" is actually the central essence of not only Reborn - but Pokemon in general. For example - as much as we play with the intention of training and catching certain Pokemon at times - we never know what specific place on the map a wild Pokemon pops up. It's impossible to pass a trainer that catches you in their field of vision without battling them first - even though we may battle every trainer on a route intentionally. The world comes to the trainer just as the trainer traverses the world - which is always very welcoming in a Pokemon experience for me. In Reborn though, it's taken to the next level where the only thing we know about Vero/Alice/Kuro/Lucia/Ari/Decibel/whatever the heck your name is is that they are not from the Reborn region. As they travel around Reborn, everything that happens from the moment they arrive to the people they meet and work alongside with on the journey to the very end is one event the player has to react to one way or another. I understand people who prefer to be proactive, but being reactionary seems to be the point when you just came to Reborn to beat the League and not to end up trying to save the region from destruction.
  16. Poison Strike and Savage Blow are both present on Normal - it's the Seal Speed that results in stupid crap like Effie getting doubled. Grisly Wound hurts though. I'm not mad at Conquest for being hard, but it's frustrating to struggle right out of the gate in that chapter because your army is very, VERY limited early on. Challenge is best met with options - and you don't have them in Chapter 7.
  17. I demand a two percent cut because I basically had people make their own characters for this a few days ago. Just kidding Pyon, Count me in as "interested but not certain."
  18. I'm very much at an impasse in both of my Hard campaigns. Birthright looks beatable - but not 100% beatable if I can't get to Shiro before the meathead kills himself. I'm also a tad underleveled on average. How the hell, does anyone beat that Woods of the Forlorn level in Conquest? Giving one Faceless Seal Speed is absolutely devastating for somebody. --- Often, people forget about just how good "starter" class skills can be. By "starter" skills - I mean the skills any unit picks up from Level 1 of their unpromoted class. Here's ten of my absolute favorites. HP +5 - Fighter - A skill that works on basically most offensive units really nicely and my personal favorite to reclass MU for. Fighter -is- good for something. Elbow Room - Cavalier - More damage on basic terrain? Yessir/um/whatever. Aptitude - Villager - the "Godfather" of basics from the absolute worst of classes. #FreeMyStats. Locktouch - Ninja/Outlaw - Does anyone actually ever use keys in Fates?....Anyone? Luck + 4 - Songstress - That one skill that somehow keeps a poorly placed Azura alive despite Luck being the least important skill in Fates. Strength + 2 - Wyvern Rider - You know what makes Percy, Scarlet, Camilla all good from the get go? Partially this skill. Duelist's Blow - Samurai - The skill that makes hitting Ryoma with Xander on enemy phase a fruitless endeavor. Miracle - Monk/Shrine Maiden - A skill that is undeniably very useful despite not triggering all the time...unless your name is Midori....cheater. Nobility - Nohr Prince/Princess - Because no skilled tactician has time for XP waste. Seal Defense - Spear Fighter - Probably much, MUCH higher on people's list if they realize how damn good Oboro is. #DebuffMachine.
  19. If Christianity didn't exist what religion would you follow? I wouldn't even be a Christian if Christ didn't actually exist and historically do what He said He did... - CHRISTIANITY as a "religion" is rather unappealing most of the time these days. That being said, I would most likely fall under the category of agnostic. I'd doubt a human's ability to definitively say a deity exists or doesn't - just as I did in middle school, and I would need a significant amount of proof either way. Do you think humans are intelligent enough to create a "World Government" one day? That's considerably intelligent? I'm not sure -that's- the path we need to take - despite unity being important. That being said, it's not totally out of the realm of possibility with things like the European Union already existing today, along with united military efforts (United Nations). Right now, I see too many social, cultural, and ideological divides to see it happening any time soon. Europe is experiencing a stiff right-wing resistance that only grows with each new terror attack, while the United States can't even get North and South Korea to stop hating each other and doesn't know it's own identity. Top that off with what may be the first of many leaving the European Union with the 'Brexit' vote recently, and it would seem nations are more keen to remain their own than form a global government. Did you ever do something that was against your beliefs? Only all the time. A prime example of this is supporting transition therapy for transgender individuals despite the church normally being staunchly against it. (Basically, the therapy that enables one gender to swap to the other as opposed to the brain therapy that essentially tells them they are who they already are against their dysphoria.) While there's nothing in the Bible that reads specifically about changing a gender, changing your gender is essentially giving God the metaphorical bird and telling Him to jump off a cliff over your previous gender. "If there -is- a God, He got my gender wrong and therefore He's not always right." However, I've personally seen the positives outside of the theological issue that transition therapy brings. People don't kill themselves over an identity crisis if they are allowed to embrace who they believe they are. Before a minister or mentor could tell me about the biblical implications of such procedure, I had someone dear to my heart give me her story and set the record straight from the perspective of one who has actually been there - and concluded that it's an area where the Christian's best course of action is to forgive rather than to hold accountable. A regular example though is just sinning in general. I actually tend to dislike being around people, despite being called to go and make disciples of all the nations. So I make myself a hermit - and I often don't hold to spiritual disciplines despite knowing it's good for me.
  20. No - and not for lack of looking. I've been rejected to several schools and others are claiming they will get in touch with me this fall. I was behind the eight ball in looking though. Jump the gun when college hunting folks.
  21. Chalk one up for Valor yo. Sometimes, doing the right thing means doing so alone.
  22. Not surprisingly, Ame prefers sprites to models, and I prefer models to sprites. Reborn being a bunch of weirdos isn't new though. I really liked the graphical overhaul in Gen 6 largely because it was the primary highlight of the game. Sprites feel so static in comparison to me. Of course, that's just my opinion.
