9 myself, which is a little over average for a first blind go at it, from what I hear. This not counting the auto advance ones. 

I'd say yes. The main team is in the day but you need the day to do many, many things. They're also fond of making you go to the grinding dungeon for side quests that are a necessity for many of the social links, and one that's similar to the hermit in 4. You can't do them whilst just doing the palace though and iirc they have a time limit too. So you fall behind on a few of your team members and so have to spend time with them later when the latest links appear with like a month of the game left.

Of course you could delegate stat grinding to night time but there's many links at night too now, so you're juggling time on that (and you lose out on night time when you go to the dungeons). The saving grace is that I believe 4 of the arcana are automatic and two can be ranked up every time they are available. So that's a bit of a load off.

Sure but that's just hitting key moments by being at the right place in the right time. Persona is about dedicating a particular amount of attention and time to a character and hitting the right conversational notes to speed through their link without having empty time that eats away at other links or objectives. There's a significant difference between the two.

I didn't say impossible, just hard. Idk how lenient they are for missing out on the best answers so if you miss enough of them, you'll have to spend more time with the confidante before ranking up again. Few links passively progress so you can't just leave them and do other links, not to mention several unlock very late or need max rank 5 stats or similar stat blockades in order to finish. So it may not be as tight as p3 was, iirc 4 let you get closer just by acting an exam or some shit, but it's not gonna be a cakewalk on the first try.

Also idk about two but there wasn't a social link system in devil survivor.

Nah, it's possible I'm sure but I didn't really want to do a perfect run like that. It'd be hard though, easier to do it on New game plus when you don't have to focus stats at all.
