Based on my multiple runs across Pokémon Games, I have to say Speed. I always seem to pick pokémons that are very fast. and I would rock a Talonflame judge me If I could pick it though, I'd go with HP.

When you say "Battle Items", if you mean items like "Focus Sashes, Choice Bands, Life Orbs..." then no, you wouldn't be able to get them anyway. If what you're looking for are healing items and that stuff, then there is a seller for that in the circus area. But no battle items, nope. The first episode that forces you to be locked in the Circus Area was the episode that introduced Samson, and the Circus. If the OP reverts to an older episode, xe'll probably be stuck in a void. So, that's not an option rn.

Hmm, the scene doesn't make too much of a difference. It changes some dialogue, and the way the gym is handled. But you can also do it even if all that happens is Heather complaining about running away. But does that mean that you never even talked with the Police Chief then? I don't remember right now if that's required to travel through Jasper Ward. If you didn't, then that probably broke the sequence of events. If that's the case, I'd recommend you look through your backup save files for a save before you entered the Jasper Ward. And go through it again (Talking with the Police Chief this time) and see if that works. However, if you spoke with the Police Chief before going through the Jasper Ward... then I really don't know.
