Guys, let's all just calm down. The dude dropped the d-word. Which means it's only a matter of time before this topic gets locked and he gets infracted/banned. Therefore, further replying to this topic is completely pointless at this point, let's all just abandon thread.

Oh thank you for finally stating a great truth. Competitive battling is (unfortunately) a thing, and Smogon is indeed a Godsend for anyone who is into competitive battling... But playing the actual game was supposed to be a completely different experience. And sure as hell, Reborn IS a completely different experience. So yeah, "Imma overlevel my fav mons untill I can get on it the moves Smogon suggests" is a great strategy in the latest Pokemon games (particularly Gen 6 ones, which sometimes really feel like the programmers are telling you "skip the game, build a competitive team, move onto the WiFi battling"), but it does NOT work in Reborn. Reborn was specifically built to make sure that it would NOT work. So @OP: accept this, restart your game, and approach your new playthrough with a different mentality. Or stop playing the friggin' game if you really cannot accept this truth. It's that simple.

I am not the only one who suggests this, I see. You keep telling that, but I don't remember anything like that, and I am pretty sure that I have been here for longer than you. Unless you are talking about the mechanic that allows the AI to detect the move you selected and react accordingly, but even that is actually fair, and is meant as a way to balance the very existance of this forum. Since this forum exists, the players know in advance Pokemon, field effects and strategies used by the leaders, so it's only fair that the leaders would know what you do. Besides, there is the fact that a Pokemon can carry 4 moves at most, so even if the AI detects your moves, there is only that much it can do if the Pokemon it has out lacks an appropriate counter-move. So yeah, all you need to beat such "cheating" is diversity: train a lot of different Pokemon, and bring to each gym battles the ones you know the leader cannot counter. But what am I telling you this for? You yourself admitted to only having trained 4 Pokemon so far. Which proves that what I said earlier is true: you are one of those kids who think overleveling is the answer of everything, which can allow you to muscle through any Pokemon game. And Reborn's different rules stole your thunder. Therefore, this game really is too difficult for you.

The most egregious example of this is in Pokemon Emerald, where at some point there is a guy who asks you "Where are you from?" and your options for a reply are "Yes" and "No"... But yeah, this is actually the deal with more or less all games with a silent protagonist. I guess it gives the player the opportunity to imagine whatever the hell they want for the actual thoughts/words of their character...

I have with this kind of topics the same issue I have with hooligans that protest against their on team during football matches: nobody forced you to be here. You don't like the way your team plays? Don't go to the friggin' stadium. You don't like how this game creates difficulty spikes? Don't play the friggin' game. It's that simple. Now I know you will retort that "everyone is free to express their opinion" but the fact is, you just called a game mechanic "stupid" and the one who made the game (for free!) a "cheater". These are insults. And insults are NOT opinions. So yeah, do not expect the dev team to change a core mechanic just so that a kid who insulted them will be happy. And this is without even mentioning the fact that, if increased difficulty makes you feel like the AI "cheats", and you are unable to beat gyms without overleveling mons, this game is probably too difficult for you, which only enforces my earlier suggestion as to how to solve the problem.

Yeah, that's more or less the same thing. I mean sure, Heatmor's situation is not as bad as it is in B/W, but it is still bad: by the time you manage to put together a team capable of consistently capturing level 40 mons, the game has already given you MUCH better Fire-type mons, including Camerupt and Pyroar. So yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing Heatmor moved to an earlier area... But that is probably just me... And thanks for clarifying the monkey thing: since we are here, why not adding the third monkey as well? I mean ok, the grass monkey is probably the worst of the bunch so nobody really misses it, but exactly because of this, there are literally no reasons for it not to be in the game while the other 2 are...

Well, there are many Pokemon that are hardly ever used in their games of origin because they become available very late in the game, at which point much better options exist. A glaring example is Heatmor in B/W: you get that thing AFTER RESHIRAM, and even if you are playing White and thus you are stuck with Zekrom, there are still much better options available much earlier, like Darmanitan. So yeah, I haven't played Reborn in a while, so I don't know at which point Heatmor is available if at all: what I do know however is that early in the game there are events for Fire-type Pokemon that have the potential to become much stronger than Heatmor (Numel comes to mind), so yeah, if Ame ever feels the need to give one of these Pokemon the axe, I think Heatmor could be a good replacement. Oh and speaking of B/W : can anyone remind me at which point of Reborn the elemental monkeys are available, if at all?

Sooner or later I'll have to talk to my best friend about this whole "I absolutely trust you" thing she has going on with me... I mean sure, I repsect her and I'd never take advantage of her, but... I am still a young man damnit! You cannot invite me to your house and casually change your clothes while we are talking!

She didn't change right in front of me of course, she walked in the next room, but since we wre talking she left the door open, "trusting me not to peep" (so she said). And of course I didn't but... Yeah, it kinda hurts my male pride to see that she really doesn't even remotely see me as a "threat"...
