  4. Eleriese was annoyed. Very annoyed. This strange human had stolen her stage. Not only that, he was dripping blood all over it. Worse still, demon blood. Ick. She stretched her body at the side of the tavern, preparing for her next dance, the Waltz of the Camillas, while barelyly paying attention to the man's words. She had traversed all over Aervana, and such sights were common in every tavern: Some glory-seeking hero, hoping to be the subject of the bard's future epics, proposing some perilous quest or another. Adventure was good and all - she had quite the taste for the unknown, herself - but what always irked Eleriese was the utter unoriginality of the questors. Their proposals always seemed to involve some kind of castle, or treasure, or princess, or demon. There was that one warrior whose quest involved a llama and magical tablecloths, but even then he only wished to traverse the known lands. The safe lands. To Eleriese, no adventure was worthwhile without venturing into new territories, exploring new lands, absorbing new melodies. As she glanced toward the stage, she groaned slightly. Now the human was waving around a corpse. A demon corpse. Seriously, did he have to bring that out on her stage? She was going to dance there. It looked grosteque, extremely off-putting, and it gave off a pungent smell of rot. Having spent a brief time travelling the realms of the Shadowed, she was somewhat acquainted with such sights, but this human was going to drive away her crowd! "As for the 'invitation' I bring..." And there it was. The inevitable request for strong fighters and heroes. While she found it a rather boring show overall, Eleriese paid some attention to the people who volunteered, interested in those with a sense of adventure. Perhaps she could approach one of them to decide on her next destination. The first who raised his hand was a Vanda Nomad, with short, dark hair and a scarf and chestplate. In other words, everything about him screamed "Warrior and Desert Person." In short, not worth her interest. The human's reply to his offer, however, caught her interest. "I hope to become better acquainted along our journey. Your worldliness will be much appreciated, as we will be traveling through places I have not yet traveled. Now... are there any others who would like to come along?" Oho. So he was venturing beyond the measures of safety. This might be more interesting than she thought. Eleriese approached a nearby patron. "Sorry, but what was the quest about again?" The patron turned to her with an exasperated look, but quickly became more friendly when he took in her appearance. "Oh, this man wishes to lead an expedition to the North; he thinks that the demons may have something to do with the decline of mana. Complete nonsense, of course, if there was..." While the man trailed on, Eleriese blocked him out and considered. The world's declining mana meant nothing to her. While others may insist that the world was suffering, Eleriese knew otherwise; she had heard the songs of the birds, the tunes of the insects, the breath of the wind. The world was perfectly content, at peace; it was the people living on it who were suffering. Eleriese was hardly an elf one would call immoral: she aided the needy when she came across them, often using her day's earnings to feed homeless children when she happened to dance in a city. However, time and experience had taught her that transient things such as "duty" or "honour" were useless. That said, the proposed quest was of interest to Eleriese for another reason: they were headed North. It was the direction in which she had hardly explored, rarely setting foot in its land. She ached to know what new melodies awaited her in that dark land, what elegies and lamentations were buried in the land.... She turned her attention back to the crowd, noticing that two others had volunteered. A Shantii warrior with particularly ugly swords and a tall, young, handsome Elf. While the design of the scabbard on his side made Eleriese raise an eyebrow - who puts the face of an old man on a sword's guard? - his dignified bearing and silent discipline made her groan. She recognised that air. An Elemental Knight. Probably one of those stuffy honour student types that always looked down on her, back when she was still trying to study magic. She could imagine his life now: a lifetime spent honing "magic energy" and "discipline"; or, as she preferred to call them, pretty lights and boringness. He probably graduated at the top of his class, enlisted with the Elemental Knights and rose to prominence. The thought of having to travel with a prude made Eleriese frown slightly, but this might be her only chance to travel to the Northern Lands - with an escort, no less. Well, even if she didn't quite catch the Knight's name, there was no denying that he was quite the strapping young elf... She raised her gloved hand and waved it around until she captured the human's attention. Walking up to the stage, to her stage, she spoke up. "I'd like to tag along."

  8. riiiiiight. I did the aversion to discipline thing on an impulse, after I wrote the rest :x That said, I think it's great for a character's alignment to be in constant flux.

  17. BOOM A CHARACTER. Character Name: Eleriese Fyrnhed (Eleri for short) Gender: Female Race: Elf Class: Mage/Healer mix class dancer. (if not accepted, just a healer with dancing medium is fine) Alignment: Chaotic Good Description: Slender build, flexible. Green eyes, Black hair, worn in a waist-length braided ponytail with a translucent blue ribbon on the end. Wears lightweight, light green form-fitting cloth blouse with long sleeves, covered with leaf motifs, with a pair of tight, pale green leggings overlaid with green silk. Prefers to go barefooted, but wears white cloth flats when footwear is absolutely required. Carries around a variety of props in a brown slung pouch, including ribbons, sleeve attachments, masks and a handheld fan. Has small blades hidden in several of her props for self-defense purposes. Eleriese was born different from other magic-using elves in two ways: First, her natural capacity for elemental magic was lower than her counterparts. Second, she was a restless child, with an aversion to discipline and propriety. Naturally, the combination of these traits made her unsuitable for the traditional methods of magical education. With her love of nature, she spent her free time wandering the woods, humming little melodies and learning which plants were edible through unfortunate experience. Then, one day, while chasing butterflies near the outskirts of the Eternal Glade, she spotted a nearby camp of human nomads, gathering around a campfire. As she watched, several of the human females began to dance around the fire, weaving a tapestry of beautiful movements. As she watched, she began copying the movements unthinkingly. As she continued dancing, her movements began to match and eventually surpass the speed of the dancers whom she was following, her body moving in perfect rhythm with the natural melodies of the forest; the birds humming, the leaves rustling, the gentle breath of the wind guiding her body. As she danced, she began to feel a warmth spreading through her as mana effused her body. She felt the magic in her change form, becoming a form of vitality, emanating from her body as she danced. Around her, sick plants became healthy, polluted air became clean, infertile soil blossomed with fresh life. She had learned how to use her magic. There she danced, unceasingly, untiringly, for three days, continuing her movements after the nomads had long departed, creating her own unique form of dance, refining her own unique system of magic. Every day, she would go to an isolated part of the Eternal Glade to dance, drawing a crowd of animals to watch her. Eventually, the melodies of the Eternal Glade became too limited for her. She felt herself bursting with the desire to dance, yet dancing to the melodies of the Eternal Glade did nothing to appease this urge. It was then that she made her resolution: She would travel the world, listening and dancing to its melodies, the melodies of the deserts, of the forests, of the oceans, of the cities, of the swamps, hoping to one day find that melody which may appease her yearning soul. To this end, she left the Eternal Glade. To this end, she began her travels, moving from town to town, making sure to spend several days in each new location, be it a lush forest, a bustling city, a barren desert, learning its melodies and creating new dances. If she is in a town, one can usually find Eleriese dancing within the largest tavern, earning a living while fulfilling her life's mission. (note, that last line is a subtle hint for the party to find her at a tavern in a town somewhere.)
  18. Well it's not so much a new class as it is a different take on a current class. My vision would basically be just a mage/healer, exactly like those outlined in your OP, except with a different medium of spellcasting and a focus on more supportive, AoE spells with long cast times. That is to say, a spell set that mainly involves buffs/debuffs, with a severe lack of offensive magic. Maybe like, a few elemental AoE attack spells that take a significant amount of time, concentration, and reagents to cast. Given that you haven't specified the types of spells mages can cast, wouldn't these slight variations be acceptable? (By the way, if this concept is accepted, I am totally calling dibs on sole elvish magic dancer)
  19. Basically, the concept I have in my head is an Elvish dancer. A mage which can only cast spells through the performance of ritual dances, who casts mainly supportive AoE buffs, with few attack magics.
  20. Is there any reason why Elves can't be thieves or assassins? EDIT: Also, is it possible for a character to be a variation of the base classes? For instance, can I classify my character as a mage, but make it sort of a bard? Finally, what are the Elven naming conventions in your world?
