  1. Hukuna and Arkhidon Poseidon stood by the door as the two armed themselves. After watching for a while and seeing that they had looked at most of what interested them, he moved from the doorway. "If that is all, I can take you to your places now. Keaton will be shown to R&D, while Viktor will return to Olympus with me. Housing is left up to you. You need not fear to show yourself in public any longer. Your names and faces are removed from any interest lists. You are now under government protection." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- MasterWeavile898 "Until now, I've been a strange but natural phenomenon. Now, thanks to your man here, I'm a serial killer. Every one of the people I effect has a chance of seeing me. Previously, my face was a common symptom commonly overlooked, I assume due to people not expecting a little girl to be in possession of hallucinogenics. Now the authorities will look back, searching for a source. They'll look for all the common factors, and my face will turn up. I'm in databases since I'm a runaway, they will find me. Seeing as it's your man who has me in this predicament, I'd like to hear your solution." Zweiss stared at Cassidy for a long while, showing no emotion as he did so. After a while, he spoke again. "My man... and his fault..." he muttered. A small smile came over his face. "I seem to remember attempting to leave here with every one of these policemen alive. It was you who attacked them. The consequences of such an action are left to you." He paused, a serious look on his face. "Do you now realize the weight of what you've done? The weight of what I must do? It is a burden -- perhaps too much of a burden for a young girl such as yourself to carry..." ------------------------------------ Stratos (((You can continue on your own. There is a refrigerator in the back room and more food stored in a basement below. The staircase leading to it will be in the next room as well.)))
  2. I honestly thought it was pretty good already, but do what you feel you must. I certainly understand, as I have had similar thoughts about my RPs. Aervana had a little more thought behind it than the Awakened, but both have a lot based on spur of the moment. I feel like you can't totally remove that aspect in a roleplaying scene, no matter how hard you try. Planning things out will definitely give you a much greater depth to your world and story, so I definitely support your decision to do this, but at the same time, the unknown aspect of player posts can completely throw off what you had planned. I honestly might do something similar in my RPs, but I'll wait until the current chapters are done and then throw out a poll or something.
  3. Well, it's done. My avatar is changed.

Yeah, I'm not really sure why it turned out so small. The actual image is 620x450. Maybe it was just too wide... I'll play around with cropping and resizing to see if I can make it bigger.

All right, I think I fixed it.

  4. Hmm. Well, when I build a world, it all comes up in a jumbled mess. I don't really have a method or order, which is sometimes helpful, but also likely one of my faults as a host. I'll use Aervana as an example. I came up for the idea after drawing a picture. It was the sketch of Lars that I used for my character in the Poke-War: Surge Story. I've always wanted to produce video games, particularly in a fantasy setting, so I wanted to think up a world and a storyline to go along with Lars. Aervana and its story were what came of it. Originally, I had only envisioned elves and humans inhabiting the world. I tried to think of a storyline next, something that these two races could fit into. I decided to go with a dying world. The mana is being depleted slowly, so not many signs are visible at first, but eventually things will get dark. To add to the trouble, I came up with the idea of elves and humans having recently finished a war, causing underlying tensions to further complicate the goal of the story. Due to it originally being a plan for a video game, I started thinking of a party of sorts, and how they would all act and fight differently enough to be unique. This brought me to Lars, the joker human swordsman; Aegis, the condescending human magic knight; Rhea, the kind and friendly human healer; Resyn, the powerful elvish mage; Lyra, Resyn's sister and archer; and an unnamed silent swordsmaster who hailed from a dying clan, who would eventually become Kho. Now, anyone who has participated in Aervana up to now probably knows that only two of these characters made it into your party: Rhea and Kho. This was mostly due to the RP adaptation when I decided to start on here. The RP form of Aervana actually takes place as a prequel to the video game story I had envisioned, so I could make a sequel if there was interest in the RP section after finishing the first. As such, I needed to change most of the characters. I also thought I would need some other races, to create a more diverse party and interesting world for the roleplayers. This led to more brainstorming as to how I could make races that varied enough from humans and elves to actually be another "race." Granted, I sort of failed here with the Vanda. They are more like a sub-race of humans than a whole race on their own. Anyway, I decided a race with inhuman strength would be a good way to start, which was the basis of the Shantii. Having inhuman strength, I figured a berserker class would fit them very nicely. This led me to rage, which eventually gave me a look and flavor for the Shantii: Tall and muscular, they always look as if they are flushed in anger, hence red skin. Finally, I needed to decide where I wanted them to live. The desert just stuck out to me, and I figured it fit well, so the Shantii Desert was born. I wanted one other drastically different race, so I eventually came up with the Dok. They would be shorter in stature, with greyish skin and painted tattoos covering their body. This alone set them apart from the other races enough for me to confirm them as a race. I decided to make them weaker physical fighters, to differentiate drastically from the Shantii, but very skilled in magic, with a passive of sorts that further boosts their magical prowess: mana absorbtion. I wanted a little more flavor for the race, so I ended up adding "rumors" that they collect the bones of their enemies and drink their blood. The fact that they are "rumors" left it open to the player if they wanted their character to be of this sort or not. There are definitely some Dok that do, but others that don't. Finally, I decided what better place for a race so dark and mysterious as the Dok to live than a swamp? And so, their homeland was born, and attached to the world of Aervana. The elves had already been decided to live in a vast forest. The Vanda, being nomadic and few in number would have no homeland to call their own. That in itself added just a little more flavor to the "race." And the humans inhabit random places where the other races do not live. As for characters, the new leader became Gillem, who I actually thought up on the spot when typing the opening post for Aervana. I wanted him to be friendly and well-spoken, yet serious when need be, so his leadership could be one the party could believe in. Having more members join at first than I had originally intended, I split the group into two. It would add to the story, the meeting of groups, and ended up also serving as a way to weed out less dedicated members, though that was certainly unintended. (Now Group 1 is much too small on its own.) Anyway, with the groups being split, I would need another leader. Thus, Nash was born. I needed him to feel different from Gillem, so the groups would have a unique experience. I made him older, more gruff speaking, and less of the happy-friendly-guy. He began slightly racist towards Vanda and the Dok, another sort of flavor I added, but eventually begins to see them in a better light after traveling with them. To further separate the group from Gillem, I threw Rhea in as another leader, along with Nash. And that, I suppose, is the gist of how Aervana came to be. In general, I think I tend to think up characters that I like and then alter the story to fit them in. It has already been done to Aervana, though in places where the group hasn't arrived yet. This kind of got off-track from where I had originally intended its focus to be, but whatever. If you actually read this, props to you, and perhaps you have a better understanding of my haphazard method of worldbuilding. It is definitely not the best method, hence why I asked Hukuna to write up a thread like this in the first place. (Thanks for that by the way.) Much of my story in both of my RPs is still made up on the spot, which is sometimes necessary due to player interaction, but I do have a lot planned out for both now. There are just some in-between pieces missing. So yeah, I'm done now.
  5. Nash nodded, seeing that everyone was ready. "All right. Let's get moving then. Be on guard; we don't know what may lie ahead. Our next landmark will be the Pillars of Cre, which is just before the city. We'll likely rest for the night with them in sight." With that, he started the group's pace once more. There were no other signs of the battle that had taken place as they moved, only the seemingly endless sand. Nash had started into his second waterskin, determined to make headway. As the sun began to set, the Pillars finally came into sight. Even from this distance, they seemed massive. One could only imagine how tall they were from up close, and how they had possibly been created. They continued traveling until the sun had completely set, the Pillars slowly growing as they approached. Eventually, Nash gave the signal to stop. He set his bags down, pulling a few blankets out and laying them in a pile. "It gets cold at night here, so take some of these if you didn't bring your own. As I've said earlier, there are dangerous things that lurk in the night here, so we'll be taking watches. I can take first watch unless anyone else wants it." He pulled some dried meat from a pouch in his bag, eating a few pieces before passing it around. Rhea spoke up as the pouch reached her, taking a few pieces for herself. "Um, I can take a watch too. Whichever one is left over." She was already wrapped in a blanket, but still shivering slightly. The air had definitely began to cool. A slight breeze wisped across the group. The night was silent so far, almost eerily so. There was no fire, due to lack of kindling in a desert. Nash hadn't had any more room to bring something of the sort. Rhea rolled on her side, preparing to get what sleep she could.
  6. Sorry for those of you who don't have much to do right now. As soon as everyone catches up to the end of day one, things will start getting more interesting.
  7. Hukuna and Arkhidon Poseidon stepped in on the conversation between the two recruits. He spoke in his businesslike voice, cutting straight to the heart of things. "I will show you both to the armory now, as promised," he said, looking at Viktor. He turned and strode to the elevator, Zeus and the other two following behind. They stopped at the ground floor, where Zeus exited. He turned around as he walked out, giving Keaton a smile and a wave. "Good luck in R&D," he said, before walking away. The doors closed, and Poseidon took the pair to B2. As the doors opened, they were greeted by a short walkway that ended in a steel door, with no apparent handles. There was a panel on the wall with a small square space and a number pad. Poseidon placed a hand on the square space, which lit up green as it scanned his open hand. After a few seconds, a noise of confirmation sounded, and the number pad lit up. He walked close to the pad, obscuring the view from the other two and quickly entered a number. The doors hummed as they slid open, revealing a wall filled with all manner of tools. There were assault rifles, sniper rifles, handguns, tasers, shotguns, RPGs; pretty much any weaponry either of them could want. It showed just how many privileges there were to working directly from the government in a base like this. There were a few items the duo did not recognize as well. Poseidon pointed a few of them out. He grabbed a small machine from a side shelf. It was circular in shape, about the size of a man's palm. The top and bottom were flat. There was a large lens in the front, and six holes on either side. Poseidon pushed a button on the bottom, and six spider-like legs sprouted from the holes. He set it on the ground and grabbed a control from the same shelf. It was mostly filled by a screen, which came to life at the press of a button. It appeared to show the robot's view. "Spy droids," he said simply, as he moved the machine across the room. "A recently passed prototype. They're very useful for gathering info before infiltration -- not that we've had much use for them yet." He returned the droid and control to the shelf and grabbed a few of the other less-familiar items. He explained about a small device that drilled through steel, a laser weapon prototype, and other, more combat-focused droids. "The wonders of modern technology," he stated, before turning to Keaton. "This is some of the work they do in R&D." --------------------------------------------------------------- Stratos The door swung open, leading Anver into the early morning daylight. The trail ahead led to the road, while a vast forest stretched to the other sides of the cabin.

  9. Well, I guess I can post mine too. Nothing exciting, but it all starting back in Funorb. Some of you may know the place. If you don't, you'll probably recognize the company's other site, RuneScape. My account on RuneScape and FunOrb had always been Tuck376. My name isn't Tucker or anything related to Tuck, but when I first started way back in 3rd grade, my friend told me that Tuck was a good name. (Not sure why to this day, but hey.) Anyway, after many years had passed of off and on enjoyment of RuneScape, the game had become boring to me. I began to frequent Arcanists on FunOrb. I eventually became dissatisfied with Tuck376 as a name, due to the generic Tuck and the use of numbers. I disliked it so much that I actually started a whole new account and bought membership for it, despite having reached 7th prestige in the game. When I was thinking of a name for the new account, I wanted something unique with no numbers. I started looking through latin words, as many people do, trying to find a good combination. However, I decided that most combinations of two-words in latin sounded too corny for a name. I then began thinking of cool words I might already know. Eventually, this led me to the word Conflux. I liked the word, but couldn't think of a good way to fit it into a name, so I shortened it to Flux. Unfortunately, Flux was taken, so I decided on Fluxator after a while. To this day, I use Flux when I can. If not, I go with Fluxator. I've slowly began to grow to like Fluxator more, though. It feels more unique to me, which is something I prioritize. Perhaps I'll eventually shift to Fluxator here as well.
  10. Question: How are we meant to go about learning new spells? I am obviously not able to use invisibility yet, but how and when will I? Just a bit confused here, since I doubt we'll be stopping at a library or something where our characters can flip through a few books...
  11. So Hukuna, for your first act as Moderator (unless you've already had a first act), how about... um... telling me about the HHQDA? And maybe making a thread on it if it's detailed enough? I'm interested in knowing how you go about making your worlds.

    Yo!

Welcome. Just know, that once you enter Reborn, there is no going back. Many have tried, and many have failed. The lucky few escape...
  13. Wow, you've only been here a year?! I always imagined it as so much longer... Anyway, congrats on your anniversary! Mine's coming up soon... Perhaps I should actually write an intro...
  14. Hmmm... I just might at that. It would certainly set the tone...
  15. I'm liking the idea and the song! The beginning and low parts made me instantly think of Zweiss, while the melody is more symbolic of the government and Cedric's group. The song perfectly contrasts the groups of the RP. I hereby declare this the theme of this RP until I deem something else more worthy. Nicely done, Ark, nicely done.
  16. Supernovae and MasterWeavile898 Zweiss stood where he was and watched as Cassidy and Jude slaughtered the policemen. If they had been watching, they make have seen a hint of a frown appear on his face. But of course, they were not. When Jude had finished, Zweiss turned on his heel and began to walk again, Kiri following behind. Without looking back, he called out to Jude. "We're heading back to base now. I'll decide a task for you once we get there." He paused for a moment. "And you... Cassidy. I'd suggest you flee the scene, if the idea hasn't struck you already. There's bound to be reinforcements on the way." ---------------------------------------------------------- Arkhidon "What will be the focus of the research? Or is that to discover once I'm there? I suppose I'll work in the other areas if the labs are busy." Ms. Archer clasped her hands. The projects you work on will depend on your skillset. We'll need to get a better grasp on just what that skillset is later. For now, you will have some free time, during which you can pursue your own projects. If something comes up, I'll be sure to let you know." She turned her gaze to the papers on her desk and motioned to Zeus. He stood from where he was leaning and walked over to Keaton. "Looks like you're done," he said with a smile. "Welcome to the government." ------------------------------------------------- Jory, K_H, rustytengo, typhlosionrulez "I'd like to see what other resources we have available. I haven't exactly been given the grand tour of the place yet." Cedric nodded at the suggestion. "Of course." He motioned to the others who had assembled. "Seeing how you are all new here as well, I'll give everybody the tour at the same time." He led the group back towards the elevator. As they approached, he began to speak. "The room we are in now is a training room of sorts. It may be bare now, but I'm about to take you to the storage room. There are all manner of things that you may use to practice and hone your ability." As they entered the elevator, the group could see that they were on floor B2. Cedric pushed the button for B1. The elevator lurched as it began to move, stopping soon after. The doors opened, but it was difficult to see due to a lack of light. The group could see Cedric's shape reach a hand to the wall and flick a switch. The lights came to life, shining over a room filled with targets, balls, hoops, and much more. Cedric swept a hand across the room. "Feel free to use anything you may find here. All of these items are for the sole purpose of training." (((OOC: I'll leave it up to you what you find in here at any point that you may be here. If you need something, and it's reasonable that it would be there, go for it. I don't have anything specific in mind.))) He let them look around for a while, before leading them back into the elevator. He pushed the button for the ground floor. They arrived at the front lobby of the building. The front desk was empty, but showed signs that someone had been working there. Large glass windows were built into all of the walls, allowing the last light from the setting sun to shine through. Looking straight ahead, there was a rotating glass door at the front. Cedric began to speak again. "If you need to leave, this is the way to go. The doors will lead you right into the street, at the heart of New York City." He motioned to the elevator. "I'll just describe to you the rest of the building, as there isn't much to show. The second floor is office space, where many members are stationed during the day, including myself. If you need me, look there first. My office is the farthest down the hallway. Finally, the third floor has been adapted into bedrooms. You may stay here if you wish, or stay elsewhere if that is your preference. Simply follow the hall to a room. All of them past 32 should be empty." With that, he strode to the elevator and took it back to his office, leaving the rest of the night to them.
  17. Nothing to be sorry about, I can understand why you guys have been concerned. I'm a fairly slow moving host in general, though with a week of posts to catch up on in all the RPs it's taking me longer than usual.
  18. Sorry for not updating, I've just been catching up on other RPs. Rest assured, this is still going to continue. I'm taking a little time to think up another plot point as well. More people joined than I had anticipated, and I can't really cram you all into the dinner party, can I? I can probably get an update either tonight or tomorrow.
  19. Not really sure if that sort of thing makes sense in a real life setting... Sure, it's grounded so it isn't "flying", but flying attacks wouldn't really change, such as Gust, for example...
  20. Yep, one group. That's been the plan since the beginning, but it'll be a bit smaller of a group now.
  21. Great song. Yes it was in Shrek, but it's still a great song on its own, and Shrek was awesome. And more VGM, because I can't make a post here without some. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LNwrv--DmU
  22. Phantom watched the statues around him, sword in hand. He doubted a sword could do much damage to these things but it was all he had. The other people from the first circle had all caught up with him, fighting statues of their own. Some of the statues that had been circling him had left to lower sections to fight the others. Still, it would be tough getting past those that remained. He could see the top of the garden from where he stood. If only he could just get around them... It was then that a thought occured to him. He sheathed his sword, holding a hand out to open a portal in front of him. He ran through, looking briefly over his shoulder at the others before entering. As he strode into the mirror dimension, he looked around him. His hunch had been correct. The stautes no longer moved here, but were simply stationed at the sides of the staircase as they had been before. This was truly a place where he could have peace, if only for a short while. The strange effects of this place seemed to have no effect in this dimension. He walked up the final step, approaching the center of the garden's top level. It was a beautiful place, but he could not stay here much longer. Unsure of what he would encounter back in the other world, He opened another portal, returning to the original dimension.
  23. Sorry if I cut things a bit short for you, but that seemed like a good time to end the chapter. You weren't going to win that battle, and I wanted to get to move into the larger groups as soon as we could. Also, I needed that space clear for when group 2 comes along...
