  1. She's forced to approach though, that's the issue; Ryu has no problem playing footsies with her until he gets an opening. Also a smart Ryu will go for the low recovery when offstagte against Sheik, and if she comes out to play at about medium height, he can straight up absorb most of her edgeguarding options and FADC back. At the tournament I was at yesterday, Sheik did the usual FAir chain combo, up until about 85% or so when Ryu can abuse the frame 1 super armor to sneak out of the combo, and used that to get back to the stage and punish Sheik for her overinvestment. After the game he also pointed out that if he wanted, he could have baited Bouncing Fish then countered it with True Shoryuken to outright kill Sheik at that point. He's got a few defensive offstage options that can disrupt Sheik's offensive edgeguarding attempts, and with the Hadoukens and combo game he dominates Sheik on the ground until he gets grabbed. Overall Sheik has a very hard time killing Ryu; her best bet is FAir chain combo at mid percents if she doesn't have Rage. He needs a read to kill her though, although he has an easier time taking stock overall in this MU. Pikachu, yeah no doubt in my mind that it's a miserable MU for Ryu.
  2. Sheik as I understand loses to Ryu, but I think that's about it. Ryu outspams Sheik with his Hadoukens, has plenty of options to snuff her kill moves/setups, and ruins her with combos, OOS options and potent kill moves of his own. Once he gains control of the neutral it's hard for Sheik to regain it outside of a missed Focus Attack, Shoryuken or smash.
  3. That team had all the peel in the world though. I wouldn't have been worried about Garen or Jax at all. Plus if Vel'Koz is in range to ignite Jinx, then something is wrong - he'd probably be in the middle of the enemy team in fights, which is not cool when he wants to sit back. It should be used on Zac or Janna, ideally, who will be in a more ideal range.
  4. The buffs are made to amplify Lux's teamfight power. I do like how much they're ramping up Lux's late game. First the passive buff, then the instant shields and now this. It's going to be absolutely crazy.
  5. The cleanse would be for Bard and that's pretty much it. It's unncessary against the others, really, when compared to Heal.
  6. Once he hits level 7, his passive really starts to kick in and poking him becomes somewhat redundant Also you're begging to be ganked at that point.
  7. "Tour" has to be the worst music in smash 4. Such a buzzkill when Ganondorf is duking it out with Ryu.

  8. I also went 1-2. That did mean, consequentially, that I didn't make it out of pools. I did have to go up against Blacktwins, who is one of the top players in the area, but I managed to hold my own against him until a crucial mistake against his Shulk. Had tons of fun commentating though, I've started to become a regular caster here, as a result of a bizarre twist of events...
  9. Under tower is right where Nasus wants to be - if he's competent anyway. He's pretty safe there.
  10. @Rosalina: see above post @Mario: uh...I don't know much about Mario, at least in comparison to the other folk, so I won't say anything about this @Ness: very much in disagreement. Ness kinda gets rekt by Sheik and Rosalina. He shares Captain Falcon's issue where he is edgeguarded easily, which gives him problems against characters with good gimps (ex. Ike, Ganondorf, Luigi). Online he's an absolute terror, offline he's good but not top tier. I also utterly destroyed a Ness in the tourney I went to on Thursday, so my opinion might be a tad bit biased. @Toon Link: Staying away from making a case here although I am more in agreement with Dark Desire here. No one here plays Tink either so that might have skewed opinions. @Zelda: she has great kill moves, but no setups for them except for dash grab combo, so players will be looking for that at higher %. She has questionable shield pressure as well, which also hurts her. That's all I can speak to on her though. @Ryu: Playing Ryu takes some work but we've seen some top Ryu play here thanks to Falgod and n0ne, and holy shit he can dominate in the right hands. Can win spam wars vs Needles, gets frame 1 Super Armor, vicious setups, combos and KO confirms. He also gets the pseudo-Waveland thanks to FADC which gives him plenty of options including (but not limited to) a big F-Smash. Until someone convinces us otherwise, we believe that Ryu is very high tier, especially as he can best Sheik more easily than most in high-level play. @DK: see above post @Marth and Lucina: these two are definitely not low tier anymore. They have ridiculous aerial combos, great walling moves, low landing lag, and other redeeming qualities that make them awesome. Marth has favorable matchups against Rosalina and Roy, two flavors of the month, and while Lucina does alright with them, she has a few better matchups of her own - she trades early kill moves for all around damage. @Ganondorf: people sleep on this guy all the time. He seems bad just because of h nature of his moves, but many Ganon players fail to understand that he is more about strategy and tactical prowess than raw mechanical skill. He also has a lot of favorable matchups this time around thanks to his rediscovered combo game and edgeguarding - just the reason why he's been placed so low on many tier lists is because of the Sheik matchup, which is...putting it nicely, brutal for him. Nonetheless he is anything but bottom tier. @Bowser: Can't speak to him. @Palutena: see above post More in the morning
  11. Nasus is a misunderstood champion, both to play as and against. Probably worth giving him a shot but remember that the emphasis is to last-hit as many minions with Siphoning Strike as possible.
  12. Replying in a spoiler, since this is longer than I anticipated it'd be.
  13. So at the weekly last night, a bunch of us including myself and some players from around here (mostly for fun but nonetheless seriously) devised an interim tier list while we wait for the reddit monthly one: A Tier +: Sheik, Zero Suit Samus, Luigi =: Ryu, Fox, Rosalina, Diddy Kong, Sonic, Pikachu -: Mario, Donkey Kong, Villager, Ness, Captain Falcon, Yoshi B Tier +: Ike, Shulk, Greninja, Wario, Lucas, Marth, Dark Pit, Roy, Meta Knight, Pit =: Olimar, ROB, Link, Mega Man, Bowser Jr., Mii Brawler, Lucina, Lucario, Mr. Game&Watch -: Little Mac, Falco, Kirby, Ganondorf, Bowser C Tier +: Robin, Toon Link, Wii Fit Trainer, Jigglypuff, Mii Gunner, King Dedede =: Charizard, Palutena, Dr. Mario -: Mewtwo, Mii Swordfighter, Zelda D Tier =: Samus

    1. Shing
    2. Flux

      Flux

I didn't know Hbox had a Falco... That was a nice jab reset though.

If you didn't know flux of this info about Hbox, he had also fox.

  15. Fuck man, this Cinderhulk nerf is going to make the item useless now, I mean from 0.6 x level to this?!? Rito pls Side note, the mentions of a new Malphite skin on the PBE have been removed. Looks like no Malphite skin until 5.19 at least.
  16. My hunch about Corki is that it's the fifth season of competitive so it'll most likely come around to something commemorative...who better than the poster boy of consistently meta ADCs?
  17. I personally still stand by my personal prediction of Corki
  18. Two new skins on the PBE! (Pictures on the way) Championship Kalista Ironside Malphite Also, Victorious Sivir seems to be unlikely given the seemingly inevitable similarities it could have to other skins, specifically Snowstorm, Warden and/or PAX. We will have to see though. The popular idea for a Victorious skin (should it not be Sivir) is either Vayne or Ashe depending on which message board you look at. EDIT: Also have to take into consideration that this is the 5th season of competitive, so there may be something more...honorative of the five years of competitive League of Legends, and in that vein there were many more consistently prevalent ADCs than Sivir. Caitlyn, Corki, Vayne and Ezreal come to mind here.
  19. My stance on religion and God are pretty much identical to Dark Desire's. My Family (both sides of it) are very strongly religious (Christian, to be specific) with me being the only one in my immediate family without said faith. I also have a lot of friends who are Wiccan. I do however want to be able to understand as many religions as possible. Other than the obvious social benefits that come with the mutual understanding of one's beliefs, one thing that disgusts me the most is violence that breaks out as a result of clashing faiths - thus if I can unite people who fail to be at ease due to their beliefs in God or whichever deity they follow, then I take pride knowing that I have done my part for the world (as I do somewhat subscribe to the theory that everyone in the world has a purpose, whether it has already been fulfilled already or not).
  20. It's been announced that the next champ will most likely not be until the Pre-S6 patch at the earliest (early to mid November).
  21. And then you get to the elo where everyone knows how to play against Riven and you slowly but surely begin to tilt Although as long as you adamantly research and practice your MU's you should be good.
  22. Ryu's skill cap and mechanical depth probably intrigues a lot of people.
  23. Out of curiosity, which characters do all of you want in Smash Bros.?

I know I'm in the minority and that is highy unlikely, but I want Chrom.

    3. Avatar of Grima

      Avatar of Grima

I'm thinking either Chrom or Validar

    4. Raindrop Valkyrie

      Raindrop Valkyrie

Didn't they jsut add Roy? I don't thin another Sword user is going to happen... ((also holy hell there is way to many Sword wielders not jsut counting Fire Emblem Character...))

  24. It's always good to with what you know, but don't be afraid to experiment (tilt stick, Y-button grab, A+B smash attacks, etc). The more comfortable you are with your own personal setup, the better off you'll be, and it's great to have so many control customizations in smash 4. It's also acceptable to have multiple control schemes for the different characters that you play. I personally use a Hori pad (classic controller with GameCube layout) with Tap Jump off, C-stick set to Attack (aka Tilt Stick), and L Button to grab.
  25. Erick brought up Corki because he has been a staple pick in literally every Worlds to date. The meta is shaping up for his return to top-priority ADC play as well, once Kalista (and most likely Tristana) are nerfed.
