That thing killed our allies...our comrades...does it seriously think it can get away with that?! He looked at his partners. Shadow looked so angry that Lionel almost got scared. Buddy had a weird twinkling in his normally sleepy eyes. "Sir, I'm ready, sir!"

Logan's expression was blank. He felt nervous and didn't talk confident like some others. Eventually he took a deep breath and prepared himself mentally. "Yes sir!"

McCarthy nodded at the group.

"Very well then. It's time to move out."

With that he pivoted and walked off out of the Medical Wards and through the double doors, the Squadron following behind him as he stalked through the corridors, before long stopping at a set of elevator doors and palming them open and stepping inside.

Within minutes, the Squadron arrived at the level of the Roof. the doors of the elevator opened, the expanse of the snow covered atrium stretching out before them...

garden-snow-006.jpg

The General stepped out of the Elevator and popped the safety of his gun, spotting the giant Bird in the distance, it looked to be asleep. he turned to the Squadron as they funneled out of the elevator, signalling with his hands for them to split into two teams and flank to the right and left, speaking simply as he did.

"Do not fire a shot until you see my GAO hit that thing with a burst of fire. That is an order."

With that he took off, sprinting for a nearby collection of bushes and shrubs, ducking beneath them, then moving on out of sight behind a thicket of trees, slowly making his way to a position where he could cause the most damage with his GAOs, whom followed behind him quickly and silently.

Clint came in close behind the general as the team ascended to the roof. The general made a curt order to split up and so Clint took to the left. He ran over and hid in a group of bushes. And quietly released the recently healed Tyrogue next to him. He knew the little fighter wouldn't be overly useful in this battle, but he figured it was worth keeping around. He then grasped the ball containing the Onyx. He didn't want to be the one to awaken the bird, so he decided to wait to release Pimparella. However, on first attack he was ready to toss the container over at the bird.

Sid heavily breathes holding his riffle thigh as the elevator doors open, The general give the signal to split up and hold position until he made first contact with it. He steps out as He follows Clint to the left, He quickly sneaks through the snow and went straight hiding to the bush not too far from Clint. He saw his fellow cadet was ready to release his GAO. He takes a peek of the sleeping bird behind the bush and sits down. Sid quietly release his Horsea right beside him and pops the safety pin from his riffle while looking at the open elevator door waiting for the others to come.

When they arrived on the roof, Logan followed the General’s orders. He saw Clint and Sid going to the left, so he decided to go to the right. He took position behind some bushes and looked as Ace and Crush arrived as well. “Ok guys, wait for the signal. You know what to do,” he said while removing the safety from his rifle. His GAOs responded with a nod, ready for action.

Oak, Rowan, and Caraway stepped out of the elevator and into the dimly iluminated hallway before them.

2007-06-25-CRW_5810-01.jpg

Rowan looked around, then spoke loudly as he strained to continue carrying the crates weight

"This isn't the atrium, Oak. you selected the wrong floor..."

Oak looked around as he himself walked into the hall, carrying his end of the crate out of the elevator. "So it seems I have..." He said simply

"Alright, back into the elevator." he began to back peddle with his end when suddenly he felt a hard, cool surface on his back; it was the elevator doors, which must've closed shut whilst they were talking.

"Well, ain't that a bitch..." Caraway said, trying to palm the elevator cabin back up to their level and open the doors... it wasn't responding. he looked up at the display that was above the elevator doors, which showed what floor the cabin was currently on...

and the screen was black. completely dead.

"Professors, looks like we'll have to get to the atrium another way... are there any more elevators on this level?"

Rowan answered.

"No... I believe this is sub level J-2... which was actually abandoned during the bases late construction days..."

Oak went a little pale at that

"Wait... How could this possibly be J-2? how could the elevator have taken us here, this whole level was supposed to have been sealed off after the incident that took place... there is supposed to be no possible way into or out of it..."

Rowan shook his head as he responded

"I don't know, old friend... but either way, this is it... I am sure of it."

the conversation was interupted as a wrench flew through the air out of the darkness and nearly hit Rowan, who managed to duck in the nick of time, dropping his end of the crate containing the rail gun but managing to prevent his skull from being cracked by the projectile. he stood back up slowly... he looked to oak as a clanging sound came from further down the hall where the wrench landed.

"Who... who threw that... who could've?"

Oak grew a little paler

"I don't know... and I don't really care to find out."

just then a loud banging sounded from somewhere down the hall, startling all three men...

As the general gave orders, Lionel considered which side the best one was to go to. He saw Clint and Sid going to the left... Wait, Clint and Sid? Hopefully that goes well... Then he saw Logan going to the right. Lionel decided to follow him. Buddy was in his capsule at the moment, because there had been a lot of running and the Slowpoke was, as the name suggests, slow. Shadow sat on his shoulder, as always. When he lurked in the bushes next to Logan, he released Buddy and got ready to fire. He whispered to Logan: "We're not letting it get away with this, are we?"

Logan noticed Lionel chose the same path as him. “We’re not letting it get away with this, are we?” the former cadet asked.

“No, of course we won’t. If the General’s plan works, we should be fine. However I’m concerned about the other side. Sid and Clint together are able to blow everything up,” he said with a small smile. “Maybe we’re lucky they didn’t get any grenades.”

Lars had followed the group up until this point, but now he was stuck. The group had been told to split up, and there were equal amounts on both sides. He stood where he was, pondering which direction to take.

"Clint and Sid, or Logan and Lionel..." he thought. After a little thinking, a smile came onto his face. He walked to the right.

"Logan, Lionel, and Lars. It only makes since to go with the L's."

Looks like I'm going with Clint and Sid, then, Nathan thought as he watched Lars move. Just peachy. Hopefully he can keep that attitude under control. The pilot limped his way over to the pair. "I'll give your Pimparella some direct fire support," he said, tapping the capsule containing Charmeleon. "Sound good?"

Sid heard about Clint and Nathan's plan. He looks at Horsea and gives his fellow cadets a warning."Just stay clear of Smoke's way, don't wanna hit you guys with its bubble beam. " Sid lays down on a crawling position behind the bush and adjusted his rifle ready to snipe the icy bird. I'll wait how this plays out then I'll release Vicious from its capsule.

Jory nodded, then crept off after Sid, Clint, and Nathan. He listened intently to the plan before speaking. "Sampson should be able to put some fire on this guy as well. Let's make it count." With that, Jory got into position near Sid and put his hand on the release button on the Ponyta's ball.

Kenny and his GAOs headed over to the Right, joining up with Logan, Lars, and Lionel.

"I'm going to have Eve help Ace by Powering Up the Moves that he Uses, and I'll also have Ryu protect them by Countering any moves that come their way."

as he spoke, he turned off the Safeties of his Assault Rifle and his Beretta.

"sound good?"

Lionel looked around. Logan, Lars and Kenny. That is...quite a good team, I must say. He heard Kenny propose a strategy, and responded: "That sounds like a good plan in theory, Kenny, but don't forget that Ryu has the type disadvantage in this battle. Are you sure he can take the attacks of that thing? However, the idea of Eve powering the other GAOs up, is a good idea. We'll certainly go with that." He looked at Shadow and Buddy. "When the general attacks, both of you must be ready to roll immediately. Be prepared. Same goes for all other GAOs; we must all be prepared so that we can benefit from the surprise effect."

"Lionel, you've got a good point. i guess that Ryu should probably sit this one out."

Ryu nodded at that, but looked somewhat sad.

"Don't worry, Ryu. maybe next time."

Erick went off to the left, joining Jory, Sid, Clint and Nathan. Surge and Infantry walked over to the right, joining Kenny, Lars, Logan, and Lionel, making both sides equal in number.

Erick looked to the others, taking his assault rifle from where it was strapped on his shoulder and flicking the safety off. "We should spread out a little so that we all don't get taken out by a stray attack when that thing wakes up from the general's assault" he said simply, walking off across the snow covered ground, and ducking behind a large nearby fountain not far from the bush Clint and Sid and Nathan were hiding behind. he looked up at the bird, which was still asleep, not far away from where the two teams of five were. He took a crouching position and trained the sights of his X-19 on one of the bird's eyelid... he intended to give the damn thing something to think about as soon as the General gave the signal...

"Yeah... let's see how big and bad you are once I put a couple dozen rounds in both of your beady little eyes, you frosty piece of shit...."

On Subterranean Level J-2...

The banging continued... then stopped abruptly... Oak tried the elevator a few more times frantically... and got the same result that Lt.Carraway had gotten; the thing was completely dead. cursing silently under his breath, he reached into the pocket of his blazer beneath the lab coat he was wearing, taking out Clemont's capsule as another banging sound came from much closer in the hall...

Rowan was reaching for the Capsule's of his own GAO as well... and so was Carraway... they had no idea whether they'd be any use in this situation... but guess this was the time to test that theory... before either of them could retreive the sphere's from their pockets however, a dark hued, violet fire erupted in the hall way behind them, moving towards them at an unnatural speed, screeching in an strange, inhuman tone as it approached... all three men turned an ran in terror in the opposite direction of the flames, leaving behind the crate with the rail gun.

Kenny took the Assault Rifle out of his Bag, and then flicked off the safeties of both of his Guns.

"Let's spread out. doing so will make it harder for the Bird to hit us, and that advantage will make the Mission that much easier."

He then hid inside a nearby bush and trained his X-19's Sights on one of the Giant Bird's Wings, waiting for the General's Signal. The Barrel of his Assault Rifle just barely poked out of the bush.

"Yes... Let's see how well you fly with Bullets in your wings, you Frozen Feathered Freak..."

In the Atrium...

McCarthy crept slowly through a thicket of lowlying shrubs, making nearly no noise at all as he neared ever closer to the legs of the sleeping beast, it's snoring loud enough from this distance. he stopped in his tracks when he was right next to the left limb... he turned to his GAOs, addresing his Dragonite. "Break it's legs." he ordered simply.

The Dragon-like creature stepped forward, letting out a low, guttural roar as it became enveloped in a sphere of surging bluish-white energy (Dragon Rush), croaching down low as it's eye's took on a dark indigo hue as the roar echoing forth increased in both volume and malice. The GAO leapt off the ground, unfurling it's wings into the air and surging forwards like a bullet, it's furious roar now loud enough that it could be heard all the way from where the Squadron was located.

it slammed into the Birds giant legs with immense impact force, a sickening crunch sounding as both of the limbs snapped like twigs, causing the Ice-Bird to awaken with a loud screech of pain and fury as it spread it's wings quickly and took off high into the air, a fierce blizzard beginning to issue down from the sky as it flew through the air...

The beast turned in the air, soaring back towards where McCarthy was positioned, it flew in low, tucking in it's wings as it continued screeching like a banshee as it's body took on a dark, blazing indigo glow. the General dove to the frozen, snow covered ground and yelled out

"Hit it head on!" his Dragonite again let out a guttural roar as it once more became enveloped in a sphere of energy and took off towards the bird as it barreled right towards him. his Magmar turned it's head upward to the sky, a torrent of hot flames issuing out of it's mouth and congealing into a massive sphere in the air, bursting apart in an emense explosion several seconds later, (Flame burst) sending multiple thick tendrils of flames heading right towards the bird...

the battle had once again been joined.

on Subterranean level J-2...

Caraway, Rowan and Oak soon came to a large, darkened chamber... various charred tools lay scattered on the ground, decaying and burnt scaffolding lined the walls... Oak stopped and turned to Rowan and Carraway. "This was the epicenter of the blast..." he said, cut off as a strange chuckling echoed forth from the darkened ceiling... the fire that had been pursuing them surged out from the corridor and into the chamber, running around the walls of the space and creating a ring around the trio.

the laughter continued, growing ever more sinister and inhuman with each second. Rowan tore out one of the capsules in his pocket and deployed the GAO contained wherein in a burst of white light.

infernape_by_nightmarelover-d45nca0.jpg

as did Carraway with his own capsule.

tumblr_mu1l84q7JI1r23bdbo1_500.jpg

The moment the GAO's were released, the men retreated backwards behind them as a strange black mist filled the air in front of them, a pair of peering red eyes blazing hatefully in the fog as it began to take shape around them, turning from black to a dark violet. within seconds, the fog congealed into a form, and standing before them was a being that defied reason, floating atop the floor as wisps of vapor echoed off it.

1309402932834.jpg

the three men took a step back in terror as their GAOs took steps forward, unphased by the strange being before them. a torrent of violet fire split off from the ring surrounding them, shooting off across the floor right in front of Clemont and the two other GAOs that had been released, stopping their advance in it's tracks. the thing's laughter could be heard as it rose up into the air, visible over top of the wall of fire. it trained it's eye's on Oak and Rowan, speaking in a warped and distorted voice, however, the words were undecipherable as it sounded as if multiple people were whispering over top of one another, the words that were trying to be communicated becoming lost in a sea of droning noise.

Rowan took out another capsule from his pocket, his thumb on the trigger for it as he glanced at oak

"We're not getting out of this without a fight." he stated simply as he reeled back and tossed the capsule through the air, the thing bursting and releasing another GAO to join the fray as the being hovering above the flames began to charge a formless blob of shadows in it's hand, smiling evilly at the group.

Sid saw the first attack. The icy bird wakes up and takes flight around the Atrium releasing an eerie screech. Sid kneels down on one knee holding his riffle up waiting for the flame burst to hit. "Smoke cover us." Horsea release a smokescreen around the area of the left bush as it spreads around the cadets.

Lionel saw the smoke that emerged from the bushes at the left bush and grinned. "That was quite the idea." Suddenly an idea reached his mind. "Shadow," he said as he turned to his crow, "can't you use your haze attack to hide us from view as well?" The Murkrow nodded, and started to create black mist. "Alright, you guys, Shadow will cover us for the time being."

Articuno...

This... was getting to be harder and harder... these humans were too persistent... and it was becoming obvious that they may be too powerful as well. It couldn't even try to rest and recover some strength... not with the searing, throbbing pain in both it's legs... landing was completely out of the question... which meant flying was the only option.

Perhaps it would not be able to fulfill it's mission...to do as it's master ordered it to. but there was still a chance... this man who had attacked it seemed to be the head honcho around this place... perhaps if it could kill him, then the others would fall soon after from lack of leadership-

It's reasoning was cut off as it felt a tremendous force slam into it head first, knocking Articuno off course and sending it crashing into the frosted ground, kicking up stones and dirt and plants as it skidded to a halt, leaving a shallow scar in the permafrost. it tried to get itself back up again... it had to get up again... it would not allow itself to fail, but even with this being true, it's broken legs were of no help in this endeavor. left with no choice, it tried to begin buffeting it's wings violently, trying to get some lift in order to take off again, only to be slamed back down into the earth as an intense blast of fire found it's mark on the back of the Ice Bird's neck, and several more on it's wings and back...

this was it... and Articuno knew it... it couldn't move it's body... everywhere was racked with pain. his vision, which was better than any hawk, was now blurry, it's breathing was sporadic at best, and there was a sharp pain in it's abdomen every time it took a breath. there was no denying it, this was indeed the end. there was nothing more it could do to try and further it's objective... and so the bird simply stopped trying, and lay there, seemingly resigning itself to the death blow it knew would be coming soon... or... was it?

-------------------------------------

-------------------------------------

McCarthy got back up to his feet as his Dragonite did as it had been ordered and not only met Articuno's attack head on with it's own, but had even managed to overpower it and send it crashing to the ground, followed by his Magmar's attack hitting it's mark perfectly. Weapon, at the ready, he approached the bird cuatiously, knowing that it could just be a feint intended to draw him in. He stood over the fallen beast, staring into it's large, cold blue eyes as it stared up into his own. he glanced around at the area as he moved his finger to the trigger, ready to fire when nesacary, seeing that his Dragonite was lying on the ground unconscious nearby, severely wounded from it's head on collision. without a word, he took out the capsule and withdrew it in a ray of scarlet hued light. taking another step forward, he leveled the barrel of his gun with the bird's eye. the time to end this was now.

A blur of blue and white feathers burst into his periphery vision out of nowhere before he could pull the trigger, and he felt as something slammed into him and sent him flying back onto the frozen ground several feet away, where he then slid across the earth and came to a halt as he felt the back of his skull knock into something cold and hard, his vision and conscious fading a few seconds later as the sound of beating wings echoed all throughout the atrium.

-----------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------

Articuno...

Scanned the area of the Atrium as it managed to get a large another bout of updraft going in order to take off, spying the General on the frozen ground next to a fountain, blood beginning to trickle from where his head lay against the stones. it turned it's attention to the two plumes of smoke that were billowing up not far from there, working it's wings into a fury as it conjured up a feirce gust and blew them clear, revealing the soldiers taking cover in the bushes. the tables had turned... with the lead gone, they would surely fall into disorganization and die from a well placed assualt... acting to make that theory a reality, the bird's body began to charge with a plae blue light as the air in the atrium began to gradually drop lower and lower, a layer of thick frost was beginning to form on the various plants around where the two teams were, rushing inwards towards them fast...

------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------

Erick looked over from his perch behind the fountain as he heard a skidding sound and then a quiet thump! as the General lay there unconscious, blood was beginning to trickle from a cut on the back of his head. Shit... Erick thought to himself as he crept out from where he was to check the cut to see how bad it was... finding that the entire back of the general's head was a shiny scarlet... he knew this was more than the basic med training they'd all been given during training would cover... but then he remembered the medic on the team...

"Logan!" he called out "The General's down!"

Logan

Logan looked over at Erick as he heard him call his name, seeing the other young man kneeling over the general, whom was sprawled out on the stones, with blood begining to form a tiny pool beneath his head. he rushed over as quick as he could while making sure to remain crouched. "Give me some room." he said simply to Erick as he took out some medical supplies from his bag and began attending to the general's head injury, applying pressure first to try and stem the bleeding as Erick stepped back and ordered his beldum to use an electric attack, the thing beginning to rotate faster and faster as a rrrrrrrrrrrrr.... sound echoed forth from it, it's cylindrical body taking on a golden yellow hue and an arc of static electricity bursting out and tearing through the air right towards Articuno...

((You all can get to attacking now...))

Clint darted forward towards the creature and tossed the sphere he had in his hands towards Articuno. The ball landed near and with a white flash, she emerged. Upon arrival the freshly healed Onix gave out a huge roar as it eyed up it's opponent. "Alright, Pimparella get that fucker on the ground, wrap around it's wings!" The Onix charged at the bird, a new vigor in it's eyes. It wasn't usually the undersized opponent in battle, but still Pimparella new that she had to obey her master. She shot forward trying her best to get her body around the massive bird.
