Once she got a bit closer she decided to steal a little from Ahmed's play book and attempts literally trip Unit Two up by going into a sliding kick to its legs. Notus Posted March 31, 2018 Author Share Posted March 31, 2018 Not bad. Asuka thought as the children succesfuly activated their EVAs AT fields and started maneuvering to intercept her charge. But not good enough! When Beverly tried her sliding kick, Unit 02's feet left the ground and, for a moment it seemed that the kick had worked. However, it soon became clear that Asuka had jumped right before the impact, twisting her EVA's body in the air like an acrobat. The huge red Evangelion actually did half a somersault in the air, used Beverly's EVA head as a support point to get more impulse with it's arms and then flew once more - landing on it's feet behind the line of opposing Evangelions - and over Beverly's umbilical cord, crushing it. Yours Truly Posted March 31, 2018 Share Posted March 31, 2018 Ahmed's EVA quickly turned around to not expose his back towards his opponent as he put up another defensive stance and cautiously examined the situation around Asuka. Was her EVA's umbilical cord visible? Has she already turned around to face the rest of the group? Was her progressive knife visible in her hands?. Notus Posted March 31, 2018 Author Share Posted March 31, 2018 Ahmed noticed that Asuka's cord was visible, laying a bit to Beverly's left; Asuka landed facing the other way, near the train, and had yet to turn to face them. She apparently hadn't drawn her progressive knife yet, though it was hard to see what she had in hands as she hadn't turned towards them yet. Meanwhile, Satomi realized they also only had their progressive knifes as weapons, meaning this would probably be a close quarters fight - and Asuka obviously had an edge over them on mobility Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Yours Truly Posted March 31, 2018 Share Posted March 31, 2018 Ahmed realized that he had the makings of a possibly cunning plan before he quickly charged towards Asuka's umbilical cord with his progressive knife in hand, hoping that he would be able to sever their umbilical cord and grant everyone a clear path to victory.... at the cost of granting Beverly's mother another advantage when it came to mobility. Bfroger6 Posted March 31, 2018 Share Posted March 31, 2018 Ranga nodded at Satomi and was about to start circling around Asuka when Asuka ran towards them at blinding speed, causing the young girl to halt her step and turn around. She'd be rattled from the moment she learned Asuka would be their opponent. Somehow, she'd found herself readier to face an angel than what was just an ordinary ginger girl in a big robot. It came as a shock and was already causing her to stumble in her EVA's shoes. AT field...AT field... She just had to imagine it, right? And then she could use it against Asuka's own AT field. But there were so many EVAs around that she couldn't gather herself, making looking for an opening much more of a chore than she could've imagined... Her own Eva was probably one of the less agile one - but it was the most armored. She saw what Ahmed was doing, and called over the coms again. "We need to spread out to have maneuvering room - Ahmed, maybe hold her by the umbilical instead of cutting it just yet, so we can keep her from jumping around so much?" As she said this, she prepared to charge down Asuka again, meaning to do a feint with the progressive knife - and hopefully catch her dodging just when Ahmed screwed with her umbilical, hopefully catching her off balance. Instead, she simply skittered off to the side as Satomi had suggested. Uh, AT field, right, put that up. Well, skitter might have been an odd verb to apply to her hulking, somewhat asymmetric EVA, but that's what she was at least attempting to do. She tried to find a building to hide behind, and then waited for Asuka to look distracted before she charged her, preparing her knife for said eventuality. Notus Posted April 1, 2018 Author Share Posted April 1, 2018 The moment the other had to react to Asuka breaking through their lines passed - and then they realized why she had left her back wide open to them. She had grabbed the train and now Unit 02 turned around swinging it in an arc like a whip. Joints broke in some parts and wagons flew at them randomly, but in the end a section of the train long enough to hit the closer EVAs was still in her hand - and going straight against the charging Ahmed. Twinwolf Posted April 1, 2018 Share Posted April 1, 2018 Satomi, reacting fast, tries to intercept the swinging train in a somewhat unorthodox way - catching it is stupid, if she goes for Asuka she'll just smack her down... so she darts towards the train swinging towards her and the others, progressive knife raised, intending to cut it from the rest of the train to deprive the red Evangelion of it's improvised weapon. Notus Posted April 2, 2018 Author Share Posted April 2, 2018 Ahmed did jump clear over the train, although the second part of his plan didn't work quite as he expected. Asuka reacted quickly and stepped, so all Ahmed did was kick the air where she had been - and leave his back wide open. She let go of the train - which flew towards Satomi and was promptly cut by her progressive knife - and grabbed Ahmed's umbilical cord with Unit 02 free hand, using it to pull him close enough for her to get the other arm around his EVAs neck - and put him between her and the charging Satomi as a shield. Yours Truly Posted April 2, 2018 Share Posted April 2, 2018 It was at this point that Ahmed realized that he had fucked up sometime in the past where he agreed to actually fight against Beverly's mother as he actually felt EVA 02's arm start to choke him out. Which is why he quickly tried to put his progressive knife back in its sheath inside of one of his EVA's shoulders before he performed the most desperate act imaginable. He firmly grasped the hand that Asuka was using to hold his neck with both of his hands and tried his best to fall down to his knees and roll Asuka down to the floor, fully expecting her to crush his umbilical cord instead and escape his grip or something. Seeing the she way facing away away from Beverly Beverly decided she would return the favor. If she only had five minutes then so would Asuka. Get Asuka away from Ahmed and off balance and then cut it, and I try to take the cut - Ahmed, try to be ready to take advantage of it too too." she calls, hoping they'll take her advice as she continues her charge towards the red Eva, knife ready but not raised in case she did something crazy like throwing Ahmed. Why worry about saving him Ahmed when you could just as easily cut the cord without giving Asuka a heads up, but doing so might get her some points with Satomi so once Beverly got to the umbilical cord she attempted to do as Satomi asked giving the cord a strong yank before cutting it. Notus Posted April 2, 2018 Author Share Posted April 2, 2018 Asuka felt the weight of Ahmed's pretty heavy Unit 18 pulling her down. Ah, so you're not completely clueless about close fights either. Good. She did know what he was trying to pull off though, and reacted promptly: releasing the arm around Ahmed's neck at the same as she yanked his umbilical cord with all her strenght from behind. As Unit 18 fell, it's cord snapped leaving a trail of sparks. Not only that, Asuka used the momentum from his fall and applied a kick worthy of a pro soccer player to Ahmed's ribs, cracking a bit of it's armour and sending him flying towards Satomi. Then it was her turn to fall - Unit 16 was back in the fight, apparently, and with a darn good hold of her umbilical cord. Unit 02 fell to the ground flat on it's back. Beverly said to Asuka over the loudspeaker as she sensed a slight advantage over Asuka Beverly quickly cuts the umbilical cord though making sure to leave a nice length of it still attached to Unit 2. A moment of silence passed as he found himself trying his best to work through the pain decide between curling up into a ball to try and allow Satomi to dodge him easier (at the cost of potentially dealing a lot more damage to both his and Satomi's EVA if this fails.) or sprea-oh wait no he could just.... She ran forward, having a somewhat easier time due to nervousness replacing the bone-chilling terror she'd been experiencing last time she piloted an EVA. The progressive knife found its way into her hand as she made her approach. She would have just tackled the other EVA had it stayed on the ground instead of being swung about by Beverly; as it were, she tried to perform some sort of leaping strike, driving the knife downward with both hands toward where she thought Asuka's EVA was going to land. "-lost your chance to do this painlessly." As she completed the phrase, Asuka disconnected the Umbilical Cord from her EVA. Without the cord to hold her, she also gained forward momentum getting to Kyou way faster than the other girl could have expected - and feet first, applying a tremendously fast flying kick to Unit 19's stomach, landing on top of it. Twinwolf Posted April 3, 2018 Share Posted April 3, 2018 Satomi quickly dodged out of the way of the incoming Ahmed, before trying to recover her momentum and continue to go after Asuka - she was on a timer now, she knew, but Beverly was maybe 3 minutes out from shutting down and they couldn't afford losing someone else, so she had to help Kyou. Something that had probably caused a lot of damage, if what she was feeling at the moment was any indication. It was almost enough to make her nauseous. Still, she wasn't going to let it stop her from retaliating entirely: she tried to grab at her foe's throat with one hand, while the other swung her knife, not trying to get it anywhere in particular except generally into Asuka's Eva. Once she got her bearings back she saw Unit 2 on top of Kyou's Eva as Kyou tried to get Unit 2 off of her. Looking at the bit of cord still in her's Eva hand she smiled to her self. Moving up to where Kyou and Asuka where at she attempted to throw the cord over unit and use it to help drag it off of Kyou. "Hey get off of her. I haven't even gotten that far yet." Notus Posted April 3, 2018 Author Share Posted April 3, 2018 Asuka easily intercepted Kyou's knife hand by crossing her opposing arm, grabbing Unit 19's wrist and then pulling it down, pressing her arm and her EVA's full weight on the adversary's neck. She had also lowered her EVA's head, adding protection to her throath already partially guarded by her arm. She looked straight at Kyou's EVA - a old, modified Mass Production unit - and her face assumed a sour expression inside the plug. She raised her free arm and drew her progressive knife. Then again, there were Satomi and Beverly to deal with. She could easily overpower Kyou on the ground thanks to her martial arts training, but staying in the same place wasn't a good option when she was outnumbered. 1 hour ago, rustytengo said: Hey get off of her. Asuka's voice sounded in the loudspeaker just as she changed options - instead of cutting Kyou down she rolled sideways, reversing their positions: Now Kyou was inside her guard, and she was laying with her back to the floor. And it was Kyou's EVA that the improvised whip found. Asuka then released the guard and kicked Unit 19 towards Beverly, doing a back roll and landing on her feet to face Satomi one on one.
