Halley took out her megaphone and began yelling at the shield guard that shielded the Decker.

"Hey, you! You gotta have something else other than that shield, right? Unless, you are here just to be a lousy meatshield!"

Action: Provoke against Shield Guard B, disabling non-offensive actions for three turns. 14% chance to move first.

Izumi seems to just wipe her face and the nanites, or at least their effects, were gone. Sealed away inside her weapon's magazine. She considered trying to reason. She considered trying to raise her voice. What purpose did fighting serve now? Their objective was complete and without a doubt, the guards here would never have to hear of them again. The guards whose ranks they decimated prior. What they had stroven to protect too was gone. They had made sure of that. They could leave right now and it would all over. It was the rational choice really.

But looking into their eyes, she saw only herself staring back. Of course they weren't going to let them get away. They had invaded their country, slew their allies, and massacred their people. There was no stepping back, even if meant death, even if it meant treason. She of all people ought to know that.

Round Two results

Visrii deals 10 points of damage to Samuel with his rapidly fired crossbow bolts

More Dakka Guard deals 11 points of damage to Izumi with his rather large machinegun

Shield Guard B defends More Dakka Guard this round

Frank successfully suplexes Lexiel this round, dealing 1 point of damage to her.

The Bullet dodge rolls this round.

Samuel takes the opportunity to pump lead into Edmond and Halley, dealing 2 points of damage to Edmond, and 10 points of damage to Halley.

The other Shield Guard hits Lexiel on the head with a mace, which would have been more effective if she had internal organs to disrupt. 5 points of damage.

Lexiel attempts to intimidate the Guard with her force of will, succeeding in causing him to break from the suplex this round, and adding +1 init to herself, Visrii, and The Bullet, she also summons a goblin to protect Izumi and Edmond with.

Izumi heals herself from her blind.

The Decker simply stares at Visrii for a moment, before typing something on his cyberdeck, causing the weaknesses present in Visrii to be highlighted to literally everyone inside of the group.

Edmond hits Samuel with a successful application of his welding device, dealing a grand total of 8 damage and causing a glowing red weak spot on his armor to be discovered. He also discovers that to get to the skin he would have to fly back towards Lexiel's position before ducking down a nearby bullet ridden table, he would still need to find a way to collect it without damaging himself though.

Halley shouts at Shield Guard B, nothing much happens.
The Bullet takes this opportunity to throw a powerful enchanted bullet at Shield Guard B, dealing 6 points of damage to the guard, yet somehow failing to pierce through their shield.

That'll have to wait, I suppose. Edmond continued to peek out occasionally to fire at the afro person.

Lexiel stares at Visrii contemplatively, a sharp, pointy piece of golden metal cradled in the palm of her hand.  "You know what?"  She muses in an excited tone, "I've been waiting for this moment from the second I learned this spell."  She raises her hand, and fires the dart directly into Visrii's butt, wreathing him in slowly spinning hoops of entwined, red and blue lightning helixes.  "You're powered up!  Get in there!  Come on, people!  Back him up!"  Her aura pulses stronger, to just under audible range.

Lexiel's aura heals herself, Izumi, and the Bullet 3 HP.  She then Fluxcharges Visrii, increasing his dodge % chance and critical hit % chance by her level (3) for each friendly action that hits him before the fluxcharge wears off in 3 rounds.  Fluxcharge counts itself, so he starts with a 3% buff to each.

Visrii pulled out his free hand, channelling mana into his palm. He was exposed, and needed an extra boost to dodge incoming fire.

Suddenly, his arm shook uncontrollably, pain wracking him as lightning coursed through his veins. He looked at his palm in pained shock.

I - can't!

His mana discharged into uncontrolled blue lightning, shocking all the metal objects in the vicinity. His arm sizzled with smoke.

Without even time to think about why, Visrii ducked into a coughing fit. His hand came up bloody, thick crimson dripping off his gauntlet. "Not now!"

He grit his teeth and, breathing heavily, continued to fire against the guardsmen from behind a bench, focusing on a red spot exposed by Edmond.

[Pin Strike on Samuel. Deal 2d4+10 damage. 16% chance to fire twice and 35% chance to crit.] + [Last Round Damage on Samuel. Deal 5 damage. 35% chance to crit.]

"Damn...it." Visrii growled, as the guard went down. His vision was slightly blurred from the combined shock of the bullet spray and the Fading burst. His physical form was still intact; he was still in the fight. But his mind felt like it had slowed down, his whole body was still numb from the lightning discharge. His mind barely registered a new source of chaotic mana pumping through; it seemed to calm down his Fading a little, but his mana pool was already too debased for proper casting. It would take a little time before he could cast again.

"Can't...shoot for shit. Was never fond of crossbows anyway." He cursed. It was an efficient model, but he was a battlemage; not an archer. He looked around for his next target - there. A shield guard who seemed to be rather pissed off.

Ha. Halley must have been busy.

He held up his free arm and got ready to parry as soon as the guard went in for another strike.

[Parry on Shield Guard B. If Guard B performs a melee attack this round, this parry triggers, dealing a critical basic strike (2*(2d4+10)) and a 16% chance of additional attack, also increasing INIT by 5.]

Halley shrugged away the club. "I've been hit by harder stuffs, mister!" she mocked the guard, "how about you try something else for once? This mace business doesn't seem to be your thing after all!"

Lexiel amps up her anthem!  "Keep moving, soldiers!  We've got them against the wall!" She shouts, slipping back into her Boros habits as the battle gets fierce and there isn't any major mental corruption keeping it suppressed anymore.  "Target their defenders and the decker!  Take their shield wall apart!"  Lexiel amps it up, healing Izumi, Visrii, and Edmond for 8, and putting another Fluxcharge stack onto Visrii, bringing his crit and dodge bonus to 6%.  Note that Lexiel's passive does not trigger when she amps her aura up.

The guards have started to panic at the loss of their leader, and the guard named Frank had been dragged out of the room by a mysterious and potentially delicious force of nature, or maybe he was just dragged out by the invisible guy that Lexiel smeared in barbeque earlier.

Edmond easily vanquishes the second Shield Guard after Visrii parried the man's melee attack, which weakened them considerably.

Halley spent a considerable amount of time scolding a corpse for being a corpse.

The Bullet sprayed gunpowder on two guards for some odd and possibly gross reason.

Izumi managed to shoot Frank once in the chest, possibly annoying his ribs a bit.

Lexiel is still singing.

The battle was, in essence, already won. When the enemy begins to panic, only the most foolish could possibly lose. There were, of course, occasional traps of this sort, but they usually involved baiting an opponent into overextending. No real reason to wait around here, right? We destroyed the book, and killed that weird creature...Hmm, I suppose it might be a good idea to collect some samples...have some other people take a look at them back on the castle? Thinking this, Edmond Glanced over at the two things he was most curious about: the skin, and the ashes of the book. His eyes darted back and forth between their positions, and as soon as most of the guards had begun to panic, he ignited the thrusters in his boots, and shot across the room. As he flew, he lay down a barrage of cover fire from the rifle he carried. He hit two, both nonlethally, and on those whom he had not hit, he instilled more panic. Upon arriving near Lexiel's position, he ducked behind an overturned table, and snatched the piece of regenerating skin. One more flight across the room, and he grabbed a handful of the book ashes, and stuffed them into a pouch on his backpack. They would be dealt with later.

"I'm ready to leave. We don't have to kill them all, so come on! Lexiel, you got them in with a dragon or something, correct? We need a way up the elevator shaft to the first floor, and then we can head out the main entrance."

"...Well, that escalated quickly," Halley exclaimed. "Visrii, we're leaving!" she yelled at Visrii, before shooting a handful barrage of energy blasts at the panicking enemies, "Edmond, grab him for me, alright?"

She ran for the ruined entrance, somersaulting across everyone in her path.

"Y-yes..." Visrii grit his teeth as a wave of nausea hit him. His legs seemed to give out from under him, blood running freely from the bullet wound on his leg. Having no choice, he crouched down and attempted to summon a short range teleport, at least to Lexiel, so that he may receive healing. As he charged his unstable mana pool, he felt something grab from behind him - a gauntlet of a beaten guard; the other shield vanguard, who had attempted to ambush a severely broken mage. With the shock, Visrii and the guard explosively teleported backwards, crashing into the far side of the room, destroying any metal objects in the way.

The area smoldered and the panels were charred like a lightning strike had just struck the place. Anyone with a mana capacity would detect that something was seriously wrong with Visrii's mana pool, and that Visrii's hair was turning amber. Visrii slowly staggered up from the floor, only to see the his opponent quickly barraging into him. Despite being half-blind from pain and shock, Visrii instinctively dodged the attack with a sidestep, barely stopping his own momentum with a wall. His semi-conscious mind realised that he had lost his Duty, and the guard his shield and baton. The guard reached down to his belt, pulling out a pistol side arm and aiming it as Visrii closed the distance down. In response Visrii tackled the man's arm, throwing off his aim wildly, the pistol coughing out rounds into the ceiling. In a rapid movement, Visrii struck an elbow into the head. With the split second daze Visrii twisted the pistol out and kicked it away, and attempted to pull the guard's leg out by locking his leg behind the guard's.

His feet struck solid metal, ringing pain. He was too heavy! The guard took advantage of Visrii's mistake by shoving the mage away and landing a heavy punch on Visrii's temple. Visrii's consciousness faded in and out, unable to compensate for both the Fading and the battle wounds. Visrii staggered back up, his eyes unfocused. Acting purely on instinct now, Visrii pulled out his kukri and put it up defensively, trading blow after blow with the guard, before finally baiting the guard's impatient overextension. With a parry and a kick, Visrii opened up the guard's flank and planted his blade right into the man's neck

The guard gurgled and spat blood, struggling to pull Visrii's kukri out. But it had cut too deep; slowly, the man sunk unto his knees, each attempt to get free weaker than the last. Visrii seemed to hold the kukri limply, blindly watching the man slowly die. Upon closer inspection, one would find that Visrii had fainted on his feet only seconds earlier, the moment he had struck the decisive blow.

Lexiel quite literally curbstomped a nearby guard in a display of such savagery and intensity that I fear that simply speaking it out loud would summon a pair of policemen to throw me into prison for crimes against decency.

But to put it simply a guard died, Lexiel should probably clean her boots, and she is almost ready to summon a Dragon in a space that is too damn small for it to get out successfully.

Edmond succeeded in somehow shooting two guards with explosive bullets non lethally, perhaps by somehow using his magical trick shot capabilities to do so....magically.

The skin slowly but surely ate away at the armor encasing his hands, and it would probably not be a good idea to pick up Visrii while something on your hand was eating all available matter, perhaps you can find a way to temporarily contain it within a glass flask or something?

Visrii stabs a guard repeatedly using an oddly already warm Kukri. Visrii then faints in the middle of an active combat zone due to a wound he chose to take himself, it is not exactly a surprise when he fails to dodge the bullet that enters his shoulder, dealing 7 points of damage to him.

Halley just fucking somersaulted over all of those guards like what, she would see a brand spanking new or previously hidden elevator filled with guards, who fortunately enough for them managed to close the door before she could shoot them all up.

She does see that the elevator they used to get here was both completely and utterly fine and also suspiciously unused.

Oh, well that's certainly lovely. Hmm, it grows by digesting the material it contacts, some sort of nanomachines, I suppose. How can it digest metal in order to create a fleshy appearance!? Certainly worth investigation... For now though, Edmond pulled out a small vial that he had purchased in Hollow Bastion, and stuffed the skin piece into it. A sudden detonation turned Edmond's head, and he saw Visrii crash into a wall. There was a great strain on him, and Edmond was astonished to see him continue dueling for another minute. But as soon as Visrii's movements slowed, and his limbs slumped, it was obvious that he could do nothing more. Edmond launched himself over to Visrii (after Visrii got shot), and scooped him up, following whichever person seemed to have an escape plan. (Either follow Lexiel with her dragon, or go up the odd new elevator shaft.) Also, was Deus going to blow this place up soon?
