  1. Melia is quite a fascinating character to me personally, and a base breaking character for the rest of the Rejuv fanbase. Some like her, others call her a Mary Sue and complain about her hogging the spotlight. I'd like to start some discussion, and an analysis on her character and her development. As we know, Melia has quite a bit of fanfiction cliches, including having super special awesome god-like powers, most people who she meets has a crush on her ( Ren, Venam, Kanon, even that Blakeory jerk in GDC.), super mysterious backstory, and the villains wanting to steal her powers. Now that isn't necessarily a bad thing in of itself, Rejuvenation is fanfiction is ultimately, and the writer did start this as a teenager i hear,( i think? Feel free to correct me.) and it ultimately boils down to execution. As an amateur writer, i can see that the devs prefer writing her and her story over the PCs(IE our self inserts) and the reason is simple, she can talk and interact with characters and the plot, while the PC's personality is up the player, thus it's easier to get attached to her as the writer, who has her character and backstory all laid out in his head. Rejuv has this juggling act of balancing both Melia and the PC as main characters, and it's not an easy position, do you focus more on the character you created and can continue to craft, or do you work with the self-insert to keep the fanbase placated and invested in the game? Yeah. But back on Melia's fanfic cliches, i'm off the opinion as while Melia can be OP and her development is unfocused, she can be executed well. For one, she's certainly not in Mary Sue territory, and she is ultimately a sympathetic character who is capable of bouncing off characters like Venam and Erin quite well for instance. I'd like to draw comparisons between Melia, and one of gaming's most popular characters, Yuna from FF X. They are similar characters, nice girl with mysterious powers who have to grow up into leaders and master that power. However what makes Yuna so good, is that for one, we have a better understanding of what her end goal is, lead a pilgrimage and defeat Sin, which will get her killed in the process. With Melia, as a consequence of the mystery box esque story telling, we have an unclear idea of where her character and development is supposed to go. Maybe become a wise leader and accept her role as Arceus? Be better at fighting evil? That's what i think Spacia and Tiempa are representing in her story. And i personally have a little confusion as to what her big flaw that she has to overcome. It's either naivety or arrogance that she can do things by herself ETC. For example, right before going to Valor Mountain, she insists that Venam and us stay behind, while she takes care of business with Xen despite being willing to leave things to the PC like letting them fight Neved, or working with Aelita to break out of Blacksteeple. And there are moments that feel forced, like the game going SEE? SHE"S NOT A MARY SUE, like that scene with Hapi not fighting the Carnivine, or her describing her flaws in one scene talking to Venam, which feels robotic. Ultimately, i actually like Melia's character, in spite of my critique and am invested in seeing what happens next for her, now that our scooby gang is reunited.(Even if i think the whole sibling plot twist was bizarre) I just have some concerns about her writing. What do you guys think?
  2. I've suggested that Crescent, Anathea, and Nymieria have some connection. After all, Crescent also does have some interest in Melia, and gave her a SHINY Ralts, and she and Melia have similar outfits, ETC.
  3. That Danny Phantom profile, cool. I gotta say, the new menu seems Sword and Shield inspired. I would love for Hop's theme to be played in a friendly fight with Melia, and Bede's theme for Lorna.
  4. So i've been replaying the game, and it just occurred to me about a couple of ideas. First off, we know Crescent has a certain interest in us and knowledge of all the PCs. She also can visit us in the purgatory after we get burned in lava, and seems to imply we have amnesia and forgotten her and our life spending time with her in that cliffside house. We also know that her signature pokemon is a Gothitelle that likes to disobey her on occasion and has been seen operating on it's lonesome in a scene in Sheridan. Gothitelle know exactly when their trainer will die and cries after it learns this, which also is quite similar to Crescent and our connection, it's also stated that Gothithelle dislike conflict, and Crescent has all been about getting us to avoid conflict. I've said this before, but Crescent has been giving off motherly aspects towards us in a psychotic and manipulative way, but still motherly. And her dialogue with Nancy implies Crescent has been controlling her and may have even created her. (This plot point still hasn't been explained). Now here's where i'm getting at, we know that Crescent also has a connection to Nim and Melia, along with similarities, I've covered Crescent and Nim's possible connection before, but Melia's i haven't. Back in the ask the rejuv devs event, i asked Zumi, the main artist for this game what exactly was Crescent wearing, and she replied it's similar to what Melia wore post black steeple but in Crescent colors. Now i didn't think of that detail at the time, but then i recalled Anathea used to have black hair and had a scar on her neck that's shaped like a keyhole. And that's when it clicked, WHAT IF ANATHEA IS CRESCENT? Or at least an alternate version of her or something considering the shenanigans going on in this game. Would that mean the MC and Melia are also siblings or something? Half-siblings? I ask the community, has Crescent been described as having a scar on her neck? This changes the context of their interactions with each other, recall Crescent took initiative and barged in the meeting with Spacea and Tiempa with Melia, and assuming Nim was working for Crescent at the time, helped set up the meeting. And how Melia mentioned her Ralts was given to her by Crescent. Her SHINY Ralts. ( Now the shiny Gothithelle is suddenly suspect.) But here's my other half of the theory, recall my idea that Crescent had some connection to Nim, Nim is also connected to the tribe Alexandra is part of, that tribe is descended from Nymieria. Nymeria knows us as Adrest. We get a flashback to this Adrest and possibly their mother, adopted or otherwise. Are we sure it's only the PC who has to worry about body jumping, changing identities, possession and reincarnation? This is an interesting connection. Let's also remember that the surfer duo who are time travelers know Crescent as Dahlia and have fought her before. The plot thickens.
  5. Who else had a big fancy castle in the lore? i get the feeling this is a sidequest thing and not a Main story thing. For one it doesn't look like a funhouse nor GDC.
  6. So as we know, Team Bladestar's kaput after Flora failed her grand coup, and failed to kill the one person she wanted dead. Personally, i feel vindicated not working for her first run, but on my second run i thought that us working for Bladestar willingly or unwillingly had potential. And with how vast Bladestar actually is with mechs, a large membership, various underground bases, and an underground city, a crazy idea just came to me. What if WE ran Bladestar after Flora was arrested? Think about it, on a path where we work for Bladestar, we could basically take control of the organization ourselves and use it to help fight team Xen, plus like the concept of Bladestar is plain sad when you think about it, they are all rejects and outcasts who couldn't fit in with GDC's demanding lifestyle. That doesn't excuse terrorism mind you, but it would be nice to set people like them on a better path, and is a nice message that giving outcasts and rejects a chance to prove themselves will pay off. It would also be cool to lead a heroic team for once, and maybe this could translate into gameplay where it's like a management system. This hypothetical situation reminds me of Superior Spider-Man where Doc Ock as Spider-Man used henchmen to help patrol New york and fight crime, or in the Mega Man archie comics where Dr. Wily takes over the X foundation after being forced to be Mr. X's pawn as shown in a flash forward. What do you guys think? Purely hypothetical of course.
  7. Well, the most obvious would be world domination of some kind, possibly spanning dimensions. After all, Madame X does have a time diamond. With how Madame X treats her grunts, and how she goes on about cooperation, i would assume her lofty goal would also profit Team Xen as a whole. Personally, i think she wants control of Melia's light to become God and remake the universe in her image, very Cyrus with all the Sinnoh motifs going around.
  8. As i recall, Neved mentioned something about an energy that is released when humans die? So far, the logic of Team Xen's plan is never explained.
  9. So i still think Xenpurgis is some sort of mind control virus, which is an easy way to get the Puppet master involved. Wonder if we will meet Crescent soon?
  10. By sheer coincidence, my character ended up looking like Axel ( the Avatar i use the most), after a trip to the barber. Medium and wavy hairstyle and white hoodie really has a resemblance to him. Anyone else have a similar situation?
  11. I have finally returned here after the hell that is first year college. To start, i think the part i like most of Rejuvenation is the sense of adventure, like Paper Mario the Thousand Door, each part of this game has a lot of creativity, one moment we are exploring a xenophobic town, then held prisoner, then exploring a jungle, then a resort ETC. And it's important to note that each transition feels natural. Next, i like the cast, and the game does a good job of making it seem like we are friends with them, even if sometimes it feels they only hang out with us because of life threatening situations. Erin's question to Melia regarding what will happen once the quest is over is quite poignant in that sense. I rather enjoy the little bonding moments we get with a character, like discussing with Melia about GDC and her pokemon, Aelita's interactions with us on the Xen Ship, ETC. The other point, is that i enjoy the length and difficulty, it lets Pokemon like my favorite Hydreigon shine, though it does share this with reborn.
  12. I think the photo is related to that pillar in the desert, i recall Nymiera mentioning we will meet again when it rises. I get a feeling that 13 is going to be a big one. As for the Puppetmaster, i'll place my bet and say he's on our side.
  13. Is this a legit theory or is it an elaborate joke? What do the Shrek references have to do with anything?
  14. With a game like Pokemon, for every tough boss for a player, another one would find them weak. I remember curstomping Shelly in Pokemon reborn, with my team.
  15. Let's see, Drapion would be a good setter for toxic spikes, and Dusknoir would be the hex user, excellent.
  16. Alright, so we have a plan to take out her trick room, ehh mine was her accidentally canceling it, like i did manage to flinch her first TR setter, then when she brought out her slowking, they BOTH set up trick room, cancelling the effect. I found that hilarious the first time it happened to me. Now how do we counter the Psychic field?
  17. Wait, where is the Tm for Taunt? Also who was your taunt user?
  18. So in V12's toughest fight, wasn't with Ryland, or the Surfer Duo, but Lorna. Her team is a trap room team that WILL set up, no matter what you try, and her field is so utterly broken and borderline discriminatory to Dark types.( lousy haunted field, Ghosts can't repel a Crunch or a Dark Pulse ) And considering the title for next episode implies the Puppet Master will play a big role, V13's big field may be the psychic terrain. I just know we are going to settle the score with Lorna and Crescent in that version, so this thread is all about gathering tactics to bring the field to our favor. Anyone have any ideas? Also i threw in factory, because Saki most likely will be our next Gym leader and it's a given she will use a factory field. Unless she's been brainwashed into being an entirely different trainer and became the Fairy type leader, or we fight someone else as the Steel leader. But my tactic is basically turn the field into a broken one, then wail on her team with Hydreigon, and the rest of my team. So let's brainstorm. INB4 Jan or any other member of the dev team look at our plans and try to plan around the plan we are making, and then we will plan around the plan they are planning in response to the plans we are making.
  19. My god, is this mod tough, it makes regular Reborn look Gen 6 easy. So We all know the infamous Solaris Garchomp challenge, i read ahead AND HE USES AN ENTIRE TEAM ALONG WITH GARCHOMP? Any advice would be VERY helpful.
  20. It's not attacking at all. Both times i ran V12 i wailed on it mercilessly. Is this a glitch or intentional?
  21. So i just did the alternate ending of the Hidden Library finale, and jeez, that was dark, i basically killed both Karrina and Karen, and i totally know it's going to backfire. Anyone know what Karrina dropped though? Anyway, the fact that this game has Karma points, and that it is a legit option to have Melia who is unambiguously heroic say she doesn't trust us.(Thank you huh? glitch) if we have too low a trust with her, and all the other questionable acts we are given, is this game building up to a branching finale? According to the scene with Melia and Erin in the library, the interceptor is called upon as a JUDGE not a savior of the world, and we can see that Melia and Erin are worried about the implications. It this going to be like Shin Megami Tensei iv Apocalypse, Undertale, or Soul Nomad's demon path, where we can go evil and fight against our former companions? Melia being the main hero to our villain protagonist in this hypothetical scenario, would be EPIC, i mean we have fought against Melia and Aelita this patch, so it's not entirely unfounded. Plus the Ghost's comments during our little coma in V11 does alter depending on our karma meter i believe, it reacted positively on my playthrough where i picked all the heroic actions, and negatively in my other run. I am however curious to see what would happen if you have low karma but with high relationship points with our friends, i'm just assuming it makes the infighting more heartbreaking on the friend's side. I could be horribly wrong though, we were given a chance to side with Team Bladestar, and both choices led to the same route, so it's entirely possible we save the planet despite being a jerk.
  22. I think it's more of a reincarnation situation. Then again, we know Indriad has lived for over a century according to Gardevoir.
  23. All i know is that it affects how Gardevoir sees you at least, if you save the officer, Gardevoir puts you on top of her shit list, and proclaims how she made a vow to kill you during V12, in save Maria however, Gardevoir views you as slightly less a threat and mocks you on how you couldn't save Maria or the officer. Granted the Save Maria does give points with you and Anathea.
