I've been around since the beginning, but I've enjoyed every moment of it.
I remember playing pokemon red for the gameboy color, and I've gotten one game from each set of pokemon games that has come out since. I remember at one point during the ds era that in the mornings I'd have battles with friends on my bus ride to school. It was really silly back then, as everyone cheated yet no one had any idea about ivs, evs, natures or move sets. By black and white 2 I started taking in a lot of the competitive scene and by XY I'd official started breeding perfect mons for it. I later gave up on that as pokemon showdown became a thing though.
As for the TV show, again I've been watching since day 1 and I've loved every minute of it. I've watched all the way up through XY, and it's only been recently that I've stopped watching with the Sun and Moon anime. My interest in TV shows and anime has really waned these last couple of years. Overall I think the pokemon anime is very entertaining, although I feel as if the intended audience really switches with each region.
It's something that's really grown with me, that I've grown beside and I don't see it leaving my life. There will be times when I'm less or more involved with it, but it will never truly be gone.
