Did you save before? You could try both options to see what you like, but as far as letting Karen live she'll unlock a door for you in Alamissa Urben where you can pick up a certain item. I myself don't know much about letting her die though.

There are other decisions you have to do to get that scene. I myself never went down that path so I really don't know it.

There are more ways to beat Charlotte than using rain dance. Not once have I ever used that tactic to beat her(I prefer sand) and as Candy said he did use the fire tip. So just because he didn't use rain dance doesn't mean he ignored advice.

Pretty sure Gym leaders send out their ace's last because they are programmed to do so. I remember reading a changelog about "Gym leaders now send out ace's last."

I'm glad he gave the medicine to the lady first. If he gave it to Anna the story would then have continued and he would have forgotten about the lady in the forest. It's rare enough as it is that he completes side quests big or small.
