Hurt and Heal: Starter Pokemon Lines (Winner: Piplup with 18(!) points)
Dragoknight replied to Jess's topic in Onyx Arcade
Wow. That's very well put. And when you do factor in megas, Swampert becomes a monster (especially in the rain). Then I think the megas would fit in something like this: Swampert: Very Strong -> Monster Sceptile: Mediocre-> Very Strong Charizard: Mediocre -> Both X and Y = Very Stong Venusaur: Mediocre -> Very Strong Blastoise: Weak -> Mediocre And Blaziken stays broken. Same. Well I do tend to factor in competitive ability but I just kinda find the Chespin line to be overall kinda ugly. And really, the only reason it's somewhat effective is because it's a good spikes user. Bad 'mon if you ask me. lol. But if that's true then at the end of every day Torchic should gain a point (Speed Boost). -

@Wolfox @Thundermaze Alright, I'm down for that. Can't say I have any love for the fire-pig. Like, not only is it the 3rd firefighter gen after gen, but it is just objectively inferior to the previous two. -

*sigh* details, details, details....................... Oh and sorry if I come off as a bit overbearing. We talk about things not because we dislike them, but because we appreciate them for what they are and want them to improve~ So anyway, back to the Hurt n Heal peanut gallery. Who do you think will be next on the hit list? -

@Wolfox I suppose uninspired might of been the wrong word. Maybe "design execution"? What I'm trying to say is, well, lets compare them. Lyncanroc Midnight: Nice textures, check. Good coloring, check. All good. Neat werewolf like design to it. Now look at Lyncanroc Midday: It has a plethora of dull greys and browns, and it's overly jagged mane just looks kinda ugly to me. Like they just made a wolf and gave up at that. Now finally we have Lyncanroc Dusk: I suppose GF did make this one a bit more vibrant of a 'mon, but I just feel like for a form that was supposed to be the culmination of the two previous ones, they really dropped the ball. I mean, it looks just like Midday. If they gave it a more menacing design like Midnight I would like it, but this, I just can't. To each their own, but I'm just trying to elaborate how I feel. I do like the whole werewolf/normal wolf thing though. Yes. So much yes. All hail Quagsire, lord of the swamp! -

@Jess Oh, I didn't mean to put either Vileplume or Wooper/Quagsire down. Those two are my favourite derpy 'mon (and Vileplume's cool too). Let us put this behind us and rejoice in the fact that Venusaur rocks. @Wolfox Funny you mention that. I love how Lyncanroc Midnight looks. I think it's just a great design for it. Although the much better form (in my opinion), Lyncanroc Midday, looks just so uninspired. Like GameFreak put all their effort into Lyncanroc Midnight's design and just gave up on Midday. And then you have Lyncanroc Dusk. It is literally just a recolored Lyncanroc Midday with a slightly larger mane. How could they possibly make an uninspired design even more uninspired? Who would do such a thing? Why? -

So quotes work now. Whateves. Also Wooper and Mudkip are both based largely on axolotl but that doesn't make it any less awesome. Point is Vileplume and Venusaur are largely different designs based on the Corpse Flower and Venusaur is still amazing. EDIT: Missed the fact that you only called it not "unique." But technically it was the first to do so..... -

Quote machine broke - @Thundermaze "The flower on it's back called Rafflesia Arnoldi, which is the biggest flower in the world ~" Oh yeah, the corpse flower! I completely forgot about that. That's a pretty badass design for Venusaur! Can't say that about any other grass starter. And Venusaur was OP on my sunny day team. Venusaur best grass starter and in the top 3 starters with Greninja and Swampert. -

@Jess Don't feel bad... it simply had to happen @Thundermaze I don't know about the most handsome starter when you got this guy over here: I will say that Venusaur is the best grass type starter though. Mega Venusaur is pretty good. Also, I think you might appreciate this: -

@walpurgis Nope. No mods installed.

Oh. So do you know if there are certain prerequisites I have to meet or any other conditions involved? Or am I screwed until someone is able to fix this?

So I've been looking for this for some time and decided to search the forums for how to get Incinium Z. From what I gathered, it involves the Sweetheart quest that starts after talking to this girl here So she wants me to give this Sweetheart to someone on the 3rd floor and then tell her what they say. However, when I go to there and try to talk to the girl she just goes on about field effects. I've also heard that it also involves talking to someone on the 2nd floor, but I've already talked to everyone and still can't progress. If that person was the one who broke the vase then I already did that before even battling Florina. Is it possible I screwed up the event? Can I still get an Incinium Z?

@Thundermaze Why does Bayleaf have a hole in its head-leaf? And where does it go for Meganium? I think it's trying to tell us something. Meganium want to die peeps. Help it end its misery. -

That means I'd win right? That would actually be pretty fun! Although I feel that can get real destructive real fast.... -

We must all come together and end the atrocity that is Chickorita! NO MERCY!!! I actually kinda hate the whole family equally. I'm not a huge fan of grass types, and not only is the Chickorita family kinda bad, but the thing that really bothers me is that they're just kinda dumb looking. Like what is this thing supposed to be? EDIT: Just realized I've been spelling Chikorita wrong this whole time. Oh well. The thing doesn't even deserve to have its name spelt right. -

I might as well join the fun. -2 to Chickorita not because I choose to but because I'm forced to play by these rules and +1 to Mudkip, the greatest starter Bulbasaur: 22 Charmander: 16 Squirtle: 16 Chikorita: 10 Cyndaquil: 26 Totodile: 22 Treecko: 21 Torchic: 21 Mudkip: 22 Turtwig: 20 Chimchar: 20 Piplup: 19 Snivy: 19 Tepig: 16 Oshawott: 20 Chespin: 18 Fennekin: 20 Froakie: 19 Rowlet: 18 Litten: 18 Popplio: 19 LOL Chickorita worst starter -
@Waynolt @Alistair That would actually be really interesting. I never really felt like Sigmund was entirely bad (at least not like Sirius) and that would wind up to be a really cool turn of events.

Yeah, I love the whole Amy x Tania dynamic the two have. The two of them are great characters and I think I relate to how Amy feels too much right now. Please Ame, make things better in E18! I need closure!
-
@walpurgis I don't feel that's the right way to look at it. Amaria states that when everyone else left, Titania was there. Loneliness is one hell of a curse. It doesn't justify her actions, but at the same time, I can't really blame her for what she does. Yeah, while Titania's my favourite character, I do really like Amaria and I hope we do get more of her (and hopefully a happy ending to their story).

Well that's quite the analysis! TBH I'm not entirely sure how I feel about the whole ordeal. As you said the gym was simply stunning, the underwater parts were cool and the music was soothing (and I'm fairly certain it's the Mirage Tower music just slowed down). I went with the Reshiram route and I must say that going through Amaria's gym was quite the experience. I'd say that the event was quite tragic and emotional. I can't say I dislike her (maybe I'm just a sucker for sad stories) as I can sympathize with her, but her emotional outbreak does seem a bit overboard and comes off as rather forced. Overall, I feel a mix of pity and disappointment for Amaria. Kinda let down actually. As for the split paths, I somewhat find it rather fitting (not that I like it per say). I just find it fitting for Taka's situation. The aspect of Reshiram representing truth (Taka actively aiding the player character and going against Team Meteor) and Zekrom representing virtues (Taka staying with Team Meteor despite being against his true intentions but holding to the virtue that he should help the player character). And although his character did come and go rather quickly, I still think the choice to battle him or not was rather significant given his past interactions with the characters. As for the gym battle, Dive. Blizzard. Win.

@Thiazzi That's so sweet! I personally went with Vanilla Firefox (well just Vanilla actually), but for Reborn that name is great! I love it! @NickCrash I love your naming style. Please, teach me your ways.
