My first pokemon game was Pokemon Yellow. I still remember how much I wanted my Pikachu to evolve :')

Try get a Blastoise maybe (rainy dish is a thing), or if not Decudueye is always a good choice. You can also get Eevee pretty early now, so maybe Vaporeon, or Jolteon? You can also go for the Lanturn or Mareanie (hard to get), if you looking for dual typing.

Blue (2nd) Purple (1st) Gold (1st) Green (2nd) Red (4th) Green (3rd) Red (5th) Blue (3rd) Godl (2nd) Purple (2nd) Blue (4th) Gold (3rd) Put the ore in the machine on the left.

What about Politoed with Drizzle ability? Poliwag is still avaliable during the event, also maybe Sheer Force Feraligatr will help you? Totodile is event pokemon and is much earlier avaliable in the game then before.
