  1. I can understand that, but what about the other four? Those are the guys I'm a bit more concerned about due to whats been going on in the playthrough and the amount of redshirts they were going through. Also, cool, I'll catch up on these all, starting at... whatever episode I left off on.
  2. That's what I did at least three or four episodes ago? I just dropped on by the thread to see if anything has changed, hoped they decided to drop the arbitrary nuzlocke rule, but it seems they haven't. First thing I see when looking at the last few pages is someone unexpected overcoming adversity with someone else shouting bs because of whatever reason that happened. While Nappy does tend to utilize strats, some of the others aren't usually privy to the same exceptions due to a snowballing effect, save for the few times where it did sort of happen (looking at you Cain and the Wasteland). But yes, the nuzlocke and rare candy cheats don't do them too many favors. They lose a pokemon, lose all the training and need to play catch up, they utilize rare candies to get them up to speed, failing to iv train the pokemon up, they die, rinse and repeat, complaining or agonizing screams optional. Sometimes the cycle is broken, but albeit temporarily. I do want to return to the series and watch em play the game out, but just in this state... bleh. I want someone to ask them if they're having fun. Like have a short talk about it all, etc. Oh? When did they add that rule? Also, he's enjoying the game... it's honestly hard to tell sometimes if they're enjoying it sometimes, especially Nappy at certain points.
  3. I probably should of done this instead of just dropping the series. At this point, while there will be some upsets and victories, I just predict the same crap is just going to happen again and again. It isn't entertaining at this point to keep the Nuzlocke up or watch it happen. Sure, certain things will happen, but I question one thing - are they having fun? Its hard to tell sometimes and I'm pretty sure I have confirmation bias at this point from it all. If anything, wouldn't it be better to swallow their pride and just end the Nuzlocke? At this point, it would be more enjoyable to come up with their own team compositions and strats to handle the gym leaders instead of going with whatever the game throws at em'; would probably provide for some better commentary as well. Have other opinions, but will leave that for later if it gets brought up again. Should of said that a while back, but it feels nice to get that off my chest when coming back to see how the penta-op is doing. Anyways, grats to Twit and Nexus; might watch the episode, etc.
  4. Haven't watched the episode, but from the comments in this thread, seems like Nappy finally got bodied with Twit saving the whole Penta-Op... I only have two comments - oof, and the fact that some people were somewhat right about them getting rekt at Shade. Looks like overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer.
  5. The fact that they left the orphanage kind of bothers me a bit; I know they don't care nor know about the points (and neither do I much with this playthrough), but Shelly is also a portable pokemon center like most partner characters.
  6. Aye, I have to say they did handle Shelly pretty well... well, most of them anyways. Currently, I'm torn between them continuing the nuzlocke and failing it. Though I am curious about everyone's thoughts on a rather important subject... what voices do you think they'll give to Shade, Kiki, and Cal?
  7. I need to do a better job of differentiating between them all... also, even if it is just Nexus, I honestly don't remember when the words (or something similar to) "<X> is shit," or something. Maybe I'm misremembering, but I swear someone complained about a pokemon during this new episode and I can't remember if it was Nappy being disappointed about getting a Remoraid, or Nexus saying something about a poke. Also, another question I forgot to ask everyone, but which gang do you all think they'll join?
  8. I'm curious over if they'll manage to get the Yureyu and possibly diverge the paths of their respective stories. What path do you guys think they'll take at each part of the story, even if it's a while away/possibly a pipe dream? Also... Can't help but agree with this, but I'm pretty sure they all have to lose at the same time. Regardless, a normal playthrough would be a much more enjoyable experience than watching them stress out over losing or sacing a mon and getting irked at a bunch of things... also wouldn't hurt if they read more, but w/e. If anything, a general criticism that I have with them doing this nuzlocke is the learning curve. I'm just speculating, but I feel that doing a nuzlocke caused them to stagnate on picking up some strats and learning, more so blind... ish. While I do believe they can weave some strats together, it's rather that it is very limited due to them losing pokemon left and right. Even though some persist, one day that poke will be a fleeting dream, which brings me to another point. They don't seem to "appreciate" the mons as much. I mean, I do believe they consider each mon they get valuable, but in the sense that it keeps the nuzlocke running a bit longer. They're either saying this mon is good, shit, etc.... but mostly shit from what I recall and basing it off the tiers they're in. I think they might be... sort of... moving past this, but I'm rather unsure. Regardless, if they weren't doing a nuzlocke, they could keep certain pokemon in their party, train them, and put them into a situation in which said mon shines, whether on accident or purpose, which would probably make them respect the mon... maybe. Despite these changes, I think I'll forever be a bit salty they didn't get the Growlithe before fighting Taka and ZEL.
  9. Don't remind me about that Chatot... I remember that thing on my first playthrough of Reborn and it always ended with me having to reset against it and fight him again. It was much more of a problem than the Tangrowth and whatever other pokemon he had. They're going to have a terrible time. I wonder if they're going to make jabs about Taka's ace until it begins to destroy them.
  10. @Commander @Candy Thank you both, I'm here all weekend
  11. If they manage to get past Taka, part of me wonders how they'll react to getting stuck in a pit and Fern taunting them. Will they wait the three minutes and discuss things? Actually reset after wondering if that was the wrong thing to do? Begging to Fern out the gate? I feel the latter might not happen. Also... I can show you the Wards Shitty, spiking in diiiificulty Tell me, trainer, now when did You last save your god damn game? I can open your eyes Take you battle by baaaaaaaaattle Over whiteouts and resets On an unplanned nuzlocke grind *A whole new WAAAAARRRD! A new craptastic point of town No one will tell us no Or where the fuck to go Or say that we're always raging A whole new WAAAAARRRD! A ruined place I never knew But when I'm way down here It's shitbrown clear How I'm about to get confusion haxed to death Now I'm in a hellish new Ward with you Undefinable plans Indescriminately wandering Soaring, tumbling, freewheeling Like someone late in this game A whole new WAAAAARRRD! (Don't you dare whiteout again) A hundred thousand ways to rage (Oh shit, it's a double battle) I'm like a shooting star I've come so far To quit and lose a mon to poor planning A whole new WAAAAARRRD! (Every turn is randomized) With new lockdowns to break on through (Aqua, Magma, which gang member) I'll chase those meteors There's time to spare On discovering new strats and Wards with you A whole new Ward (A whole new Ward) That's where they'll be (Meteor Grunts and me) A thrashed up chase A horrendous place Made by Aaaaame *Commander's lines, Donut Steel I regret none of this, but felt I could of done a better job with this... but totally worth it... also, I'm gonna watch this episode later since I haven't gotten around to it.
  12. I can understand that, yes, but I think it has to do with the fact that people have this knowledge in the back of their mind, or an easy access to a walkthrough on the forums. Maybe it reminds the viewers of some of their mistakes they made on Reborn. But despite it all, as much as I don't like their mistakes, I still think going in blind to a certain degree was a good choice. Keeps things spiced up a bit, they don't know what the exactly is going to happen next and it might leave a bit of an impression.
  13. Technically can't they get two from the Onyx Rooftop Garden? A Pichu due to it being a static event mon and some other random mon?
  14. I'm questioning whether or not nuzlocking the game was the smartest of ideas. I'm also questioning if they'll even make it to Solaris; I at least want to witness their reactions to trying to beat a level 75 Garchomp with a team that's more ill-equipped to handle him than most teams. But still, Jay reminds me of myself a bit during my first time going at it in Reborn... I wiped so many times against Julia, so I sort of get his pain... The aftermath loss was still funny though.
  15. You're mixing up a bit of Charlotte with Julia Abyss. I would say "cheerleader with a bombastic personality," heh.
