Since the translation of the latest Wild and Horned Hermit chapter release dropped a second Touhou bombshell for the western side of Twitter I decided to re-read/catch up on the series so far.......mostly since it sounds like it's in the final arc now. Halfway done now and trying to avoid more spoilers until I finish.
I love how Sanae got to show off her knowledgeable, adorkable-ness during the first half of the series.

One minute I was seeing posts about Joker all over my timeline, the next Touhou 17 getting announced blew everything else away in volume. Funny timing ZUN.

Yup I already heard about it. It was about time she got another game since Sanae's been getting a bunch, let alone Sakuya.
Anyway I haven't been too active on this site because I don't want to get banned so that I can still download the new game releases but I've been playing a lot of Touhou so I'll go post something on that thread to update my progress.

If you count this game, Youmu's already beaten Sanae in appearances in danmaku games by 1 and completely overshadows her in the fighting game representation. Plus, Youmu's #3 in popularity polls this year. Sanae definitely has more print work appearances though.
I finally tried an official Touhou game again (PCB).........and found out I'm still not good at bullet hells (and don't have the patience to improve). I at least got to stage 3 before stopping for a time, though I haven't tried again. Maybe someday I'll have the patience to get better.......
In the meantime, I have plenty of print works to still get through.

Sanae is playable in UFO, TD and LoLK always as her own character and in one of them she has 2 shot types to pick from. Meanwhile Youmu is playable in IN where there's 8 playable characters, PoFV where there's like 15 and TD where Sanae is also playable.
So they are each playable in 3 games but Sanae is way more prominent because 2 of Youmu's have a ton of other playable characters and none of the games give her 2 shot types.
Add to this that Sanae appeared 3 games after Youmu and you get a situation that's pretty obviously slanted towards Sanae. But thankfully this new game should remedy that.

Spending hours failing to advance to DLV 17 on the last round needed was one thing. Losing against a Weevil stall player because you misplayed from misclicking is another level of annoying frustration.........

DL's Geartown turbo continues to be my most hated deck among the current meta ones, with any Yubel being a close second. If I had known there would be a way a effortlessly set up 3k, beaters that battle over any effect while being summoned off destroying opponents backrow, I might have just saved all the gems I sunk into a halfway decent U.A.
into this easy to access EX structure deck garbage.Also I remember why I stopped getting into platinum before I reached 120 wins: losing once there is so annoying to come back from. At least it seems you got 1 extra chance to win when advancing from DLV 15 to 16, but I can't breach 16 because I keep getting one loss at the last chance ..............and I actually had some cute thoughts of maybe trying to get to the second round. I don't have this much patience.

holy shit yubel is actually decently easy to counter even if it requires about as much skill to pilot
and other meta decks require actually some skill to use, including six sams sometimes
but fucking gears holy shit theres nothing redeemable about that deck

Much anger was had yesterday, but I finally reached DLV 15 after trying again today.
Also finally got 1 Kizan. If only it didn't take so much digging. At least I can reset the box now.

First I've heard of MCS, but it looks interesting. May look at later.
I've definitely been encountering more Six Sams as I've gone up the rankings (and as more time passes since the box came out).
Now to hopefully make it to DLV 17 for the next foothold.
Pure boring stall vs quick but now very inconsistent OTK. That sounds like a bad matchup.

ive only really started trying with a half decent deck in kc cup today (buster blader), given ive only really tried to run yubel mill before for some quick wins. nearly got dlv 16 but lost my promo to a heart of the cards six sams that topdecked literally the one card that could blow my buster blader the dragon destroyer off my field turn 3. very nice.

Eight times I've almost advanced to DLV 15, but none have gone through right when it's one victory away. Almost every one some variation of a structure deck or some popular meta deck from the past few months...................................
that requires little to no skill in piloting........probably shouldn't cast stones but I am far too pissed to care right nowI haven't been this angry at one specific thing for the better part of a year...........or maybe I'm just good at forgetting the recent things once the anger burns out

Reached DLV 14 a lot sooner than I have in past KC Cups, where I didn't feel as motivated for PVP. I guess the allure of gems to immediately dig in the new box is too tempting.

Oh, the new Fruits Basket anime adaptation premieres in a day or two. Time sure has flown since it was a few months away. Still wonder how the OP song will be, compared to old ones.

The channel that makes metal covers of tracks (specifically 'intense symphonic metal') released three Touhou covers just this week. An unexpected but great treat.

I'm not sure why there was that long streak of bad opening hands (that made me fall from Gold 4 to Gold 1 unintentionally), but now I'm done with the 120 wins and ending the month in Plat.

I did understand the Link, pendulum and XYZ summons
Although i'm not the good one at battling games (
thats me), i was able to put up a fight against my friends or some random person.Problem was i didn't feel like i knew what i was doing, i felt like it was all automatic (and i got confused sometimys
), just like if i wasn't even playing the game.
I played the uga buga version of ygo when i was younger, with our cousin's giant card collection, it was really fun cause i did the things by myself, and not cause an AI reminded me of doing so.
Idk maybe its just me. I've heard of duel links but i've never tried it, someday i might give it a go, but not now, i'm done with ygo for a while.

There wasn't much other than Onga Bunga back in the day, and it was fun with friends back then......but trying to do it too much now......eh.
Outside of experimenting with XYZ summons in one game (Tag Force 6 I think), I've only played up to Syncros so far. I get the basics of the other two methods, but I haven't looked into the more 'advanced plays' (mostly the whole 'extra linking' thing).
As much of an extra deck spamfest as Yugioh became later on, DL still isn't quite at that level yet.....and with only 3 available monsters spaces right now, it probably won't anytime soon. Plus, the character abilities are a fun addition, which make some barely playable decks a good bit stronger. If you ever feel the urge to try Yugioh again, maybe download DL and try it out.

Did Satorious suck every bit of luck out of Duel Links? I've lost almost every PVP match since he showed up and dropped three ranks almost because I suddenly can't get a decent opening hand or the opponent has a counter ready.
I thought that Koa'ki Meiru getting major nerfs to curve their OTKs and a hit for Spellbooks would make things better but now my deck's gained a level of inconsistency for no reason. I firmly blame 'Muh Destiny' for this.

eh. ags allow for some kinda counterplay, whereas this kinda stuff is just hard lockdown. and from what ive seen of lockdown decks before (ojama go burn, cyber-stein ojama king) they are just about the most unfun decks to face.
...I say as I run buster blader, which is also kind of lockdown.
I got lucky that I pulled a lot from crimson kingdom a long time ago, so I had two of both dark paladin and buster blader the dragon destroyer swordsman when the new support arrived.

I didn't expect the translation for the Fantasy Maiden Wars: Dream epilogue to drop on a Thursday afternoon, but I'm not going to complain. Now to wait and see if they are going to continue with posting the three bonus chapters in the same thread or just focus on finishing the translation patch.

I'm not sure how my expectations for Cowboy Bebop in a mainline SRW game were before, especially with having any story relevance, but this one attack animation will make up for whatever other screwups may happen.

Somehow I managed to get all three onto the field in an actual ranked duel. Gold tier against a random deck, but it still counts. I'll likely never get the optimum opening hand to pull that off again, so just let me bask in my minor accomplishment in an online game.
