  1. I always play Pokemon games while having a specific character for the protagonist. So signature Pokemon are always different on every playthrough. For my time-travelling protagonist, I have a Beautifly for them. Normally though, for myself, I have both Gengar and Clefable as signature Pokemon.
  2. This is my favorite idea so far. I like the concept of having different cultures/time periods as teams. I'll work around that with the previous suggestions too. But I won't be using a Celebi as a starter. I have something else planned. And while I do think it fits Rejuvenation more in a story-sense, there isn't really anything in it yet that completely warrants you to actually have different save files for other routes as much as Reborn does, though it still does in some instances. I might use this same concept when V10 comes out. Anywho, thanks for all the suggestions!
  3. I've recently just finished Episode 17 and [REDACTED]. So I planned to go back to an old savefile to [REDACTED] instead. Until I realized I didn't actually backed up. Sooooo.. I have to restart the whole game. But why not do it in a thematic way instead? I'm going to do a sort of time-traveler run, but I'm having trouble thinking of Pokemon related to the concept. So far, I have.. Klingklang, to represent gears in a clock. Claydol, as a sort-of hourglass shaped Pokemon, bonus points for also being Ground type for the "sand" theme. And some psychic types that can learn Future Sight, or are directly related to futures/past itself, such as Xatu, Gothitelle, and Gardevoir. But other than that, I have no idea anymore. I can possibly expand the concept to something about alternate universes/dimensions too, since that will still fit the theme of someone trying to explore all possible "timelines"/"worlds", but I'm still lacking any ideas. When I get a complete roster, I might post this as a bonafide playthrough in this forum too. Thanks for all possible suggestions!
  4. Interesting answers! Since I'm the one who asked anyway, I might as well give some of my strategies too. I'm a very theme-centric player, so I always build my teams based on a specific strategy too. Usually I go for either field-dependent or weather-dependent. My most favorite strategy currently is my Psychic Terrain team. Based on Oranguru setting up with another lead, then following up with my dangerous duo of Clefable and Gengar. I've always liked the theory about Gengar being Clefable's shadow, and what better way to prove that theme by using them both at the same time? With Psychic Terrain, Hypnosis has 90% accuracy, which I further boost with some Wide Lens on Gengar. With Follow Me on Clefable, Gengar is safely protected from any attacks, as Hypnosis is sure to cripple one Pokemon, while Follow Me soaks up the other. After that, Hex is boosted into astronomical levels due to the status infliction and the field boost, which I then use to basically nuke everything into oblivion. I LOVED curbstomping Adrienn with it, and I can't wait to use it on the gym leaders in E17. It is a bit tricky to pull it off completely though, as it can go very wrong very quickly if the opponent manages to break free from it. Either you steamroll them or they steamroll you. But after that, it's just an endless nightmare for them. (Also forgot to mention that Gengar is actually unavailable as of now. I only got mine through trading from an older save file which had it.)
  5. Now that E17 is finally publicly out, no doubt that many will replay the game again from the start. Me included considering Gen 7 is finally in the game. Reborn's been a very very difficult game, so what do you do to counter many of the difficult boss fights in game? Do you build up a whole team centered in one strategy? Like creating terrains, baton pass set-ups, weather teams, etc? Or do you simply just grab lots of Pokemon that can do well in many fields? Do you go for a very hyper-offensive direction, or a very stall-ish one? Or maybe you go for monotypes? I'm really interested to see what sort of unique strategies you guys use.
  6. Pokemon's always been a "silent protagonist"- kind of game, to make it easier for the player to shape and craft the protagonist into their own image. Especially with Pokemon X/Y allowing you to customize your protagonist's appearance even more. That seems to be more apparent in the newer games though, especially in contrast with how Red became an active figure despite not saying anything at all. These silent avatars are the perfect way for the player to experience the game how they want to, so.. Do you have any stories/headcanons about your protagonists when you play the various Pokemon games? Where they came from? Why they're challenging the league, etc etc? Most especially fanmade ones? Do you have some image of how they look like? I'm really curious because creating my own player characters for any Pokemon game is honestly a necessity. Feel free to post and talk about your protagonists below! I'll start. Currently, here's my protagonist for my current Reborn playthrough.
  7. Reborn and Rejuvenation is honestly the only Pokemon games I play now, so my traditions are specifically focused on them. Most of these aren't really "traditions", but more of how I play the game. This will probably be a lot, but anywho..
  8. I think its cute appearance is also a nod to Shade's mysterious connection to a certain, precocious character we know. Anna.
  9. I think it's highly likely she'll have a Mismagius and a Whimsicott too. IIRC Amethyst likes those Pokemons. Whimsicott I'm not too sure though. But still, it's not like we'll be able to get those Pokemon any time soon, seeing that Lin took them.
  10. I'm sorry but, whether Amaria was depressed or not, she DID genuinely try to kill you. I'm pretty sure everyone would react extremely defensively when their life is at stake. Especially when they feel that they haven't done anything to that person to warrant that kind of reaction. Looking at it in a completely unbiased perspective, regardless of Amaria's mental conditions, she could be held accountable for her actions. Does she need help? Oh, she DEFINITELY does. Does that change the fact that she tried to drown the player? No, it does not. I don't think Amaria is irredeemable or as a "selfish ***** who deserved what she got". It's crystal clear that Amaria is a person with many issues, so romanticizing or extremizing her is a really bad way of handling it. In fact, seeing her as this amazing, strong heroine just feeds into the self-deprecating issues she's feeling with herself. Because again, it's very clear that she's NOT that heroine. She's NOT that villain either. She's just a person with many issues. Not an evil murderess nor a perfect heroine. Just a burdened person, like everyone else. Amaria going through such a development is honestly not far off from how characters are in Reborn. If there's anything that's been stated a million times now in Reborn, no one is completely good or evil. Just all shades of gray. And Amaria's just like that.
  11. Another tidbit to what you said..
  12. Oh yeah, that too. That's probably related to the mysterious background around her. There's an implication that Lin we see now is that way because of her falling to the same place where Adrienn did, turning her old and possibly having mumbo jumbo hoopla effects on her. I see your point! But I think that she was a better executed example of those kinds of characters. She's pretty one-dimensional from what we see now, but at least she actually live ups to that image. She's a full-blown sociopath that just makes dark speeches, but she's incredibly efficient about it. Unlike most characters that just give grandiose speeches without being able to live up to it. As they say, you can talk the talk, but can you walk the walk? I don't know, I just really like those villains that are evil simply because they are evil. No dark backstory. No Freudian Excuses. Just plain, simple, unadulterated evil. Stereotypical characters aren't always necessarily bad. That's why they're stereotyped in the first place. However, such characters can be divisive and it depends on your perspective on whether they're capable or not. Which is not a bad thing at all. Also, I think giving her an over-the-top name would probably just make her a lot less tolerable, imo. Giving her a generic name grounds her in some way, even though her character is NOTHING but grounded. I see where you're coming from though! Oohh, that makes sense. I think what solidified that Lin's a true powerhouse is that her Dark/Dragon Hydreigon was able to defeat an Ice/Fairy A-Ninetails. Something that's diametrically opposite to its typing. Still, there are some other factors to take in note here, like the Field Effect, the levels, speed, etc. I don't exactly remember how that battle went though. And as you said, she just didn't care and bit Ame's head off, so yeah. Another thing about the whole Lin scenario in E17, it also seems that Titania has a very personal vendetta against Lin, moreso than her regular relationship with Team Meteor as a whole, adding another mystery to her. Just as how the orphanage people remember her. I do hope that these questions would be answered soon though. And considering I was taken aback by E17, I hope it's just as shocking. Taka is the best husbando. Good boy with an amazing scarf. And yes. Icy-cold villains are my favorite too.
  13. Massive episode 17 spoilers about a certain erm, imposing character.
  14. I didn't search deep enough. Thanks a lot!
  15. Does anyone have a list of where the Gen 7 Pokemon are found? I've already seen one listing the Alolan variants, but I haven't seen one with the actual Gen 7 Pokemon. To be specific though, I'm looking for Pikipek, Wishiwashi, Araquanid, Fomantis, Salandit, and Komala.
