CHAPTER 2: Lengthy game introduction! After an uneventful first chapter, I reckon it is time to start doing actual progress! So, double click on game... Lower lights... Light candles cause I'm romantic (and Gundham is occultist, so they will come in handy regardless) and action! Props to Jan and to the Rejuvenation team for the awesome work they've done. I also like the titles song. Slightly ominous, but you HAVE to be aware of that when you start games like Reborn and Rejuvenation. Cause bad stuff will happen at some point! The first thing we notice about the game is that we are offered a variety of opening screens. Screens that have the good that they are sub-images of a bigger image. So, they make a collage if they are put all together! It kinda looks like a puppeteer (is THAT Shaco?!!) pulling the strings of three people, who I suppose are in-game characters, while buildings surround them. Even though I get the collage concept, each picture apart from the puppeteer and the three people are omitting stuff, to the point of peculiar. I only knew "American shots" in terms of filmography, which refers to showing people from their knees and above. I guess Rejuvenation is introducing the "anti-American shot" with the bottom introducing screen! Good art as a total though! But let's keep going! Time to select our main charac.... Wait... No? Black screen... Wait, story time? Mom, it isn't my bedtime yet! OK, OK stop yelling! Lemme get in my pyjamas and get all ready first! OK, I'm all set, go on mommy, please! Fairytale time!!! *stares at mum with huge anime-like anticipating eyes* YAYYYYYYYY!!! Probably not as dark as this black screen I'm getting though. In other words, bamboozling the shit out of people and Pokemon (I'm not aware what the "beings" would refer to in the Pokemon world apart from people, since Pokemon are already mentioned). Could it be ghosts? *glances quickly under bed* No Gastlies spotted, we're good. Oh wait, they are Pokemon too... Confused... *Slaps herself* Back into it! Foxy lil thing... I'd befriend Zorua! Whom you cannot defeat, befriend him! Wonder why Pangoro is in quotation marks... Could it be that story has a deeper meaning? Maybe talking about people by making a metaphor? Wonder whether Zorua and Pangoro are people among the characters... The last time a golden apple was in a myth, Troy was destroyed because of divine wrath after a mortal's decision. And you, stupid maid/Arceus cultist can sod off, frankly. I don't even know anymore... Oh, well, let's go get killed. You must be the person just above Maria/Marianette in her dad's "to-sacrifice" list. Well, you're another stupid maid/Arceus worshipper, so I couldn't care less. Marianette's actual words: "What the fuck are you saying, I spoke more coherently when I was 1 day old". Well, she is somewhere. You don't know where. Unless you do this trip daily yourself and return with the 9pm bus. What calamity, are you gonna introduce that weird language as a module in middle-schools? Oh, nice, I'm eager! Nope. Why does Marianette have no Pokemon to defend herself with? I missed a screenshot, but I can guess his words. "You will be safely embraced by our God soon, Marianette. You should be honored." How close did I actually get to his nonsense? Very, is my guess. I'm not posting his gibberish again, NOPE! I can't stress how much I agree with Maria/Marianette/whoever she is! Jesus, Christ, thank God, it ended! Well, this was counterproductive. Didn't even manage to select my main character. Or even get my starter. That's why I feel that I have to prepare another post tonight. At least we got this whole creepy intro out of the way! And got some nice things to keep in mind through the run. Allow me to point out that my initial point wasn't the fact that females are more than males in Reborn. I'm perfectly OK with that, I am not walking around everywhere I go counting to get "equality" in numbers. It was the fact that almost all Reborn women are all either clever and courageous (e.g. Florinia, Charlotte), or sweet and nice (e.g Shelly, Anna) or simply badass, while almost all men are simple-minded, POWAH-approaching everything, or just on the other side of the law. Numbers was never the issue. About numbers I agree with @Alistair and Ame that it is refreshing, based on how many male-majority video games we have. But the treatment towards women and men in Reborn characters is a bit annoying for my liking. However, this is subjective. I got annoyed by it after replaying Reborn for the 4th time. Someone might like this actually. It is perfectly normal. We can't all share the same opinions. It just felt a bit off to me, so I thought I'd share my opinion. Now, if this is enough to characterise me as a SJW, then I'm sorry but you are wrong, I'm no such thing @murcrow

I don't know whether I will use Ursaring or Beartic, lol! Also, I tried out photoshop and created some pics of me "interacting" with my mons, in funny gags! Will do that throughout the story. And yes, Vivillon is surprisingly great when it comes to utility Powder gave me a free Shell Smash vs Charlotte and contributed significantly to my sweep!

Tough Claws is going to improve greatly its coverage moves, e.g. Fire Fang/Thunder Fang. I think that, if it keeps a good portion of its speed and Attack, it's gonna be a better version of Midday!

Its only disadvantage is that it is kinda slow and with a kinda meh Attack to be in Ubers. If they buff these two, then we will have an Uber mon I am afraid... But I doubt that all the hype around Ultra S/M will bring huge changes or introduce amazing stuff. I'm not optimistic here...

If Mimikyu gets slightly faster, it will go straight into Ubers I think. I don't have extreme LOVE for Pikachu clones, but my new custom run of Rejuvenation will make me use some of these inevitably, and I am weirdly excited about this!

Really? I thought it was considered very strong already, with the awesome ability it has, as well as Swords Dance, Shadow Sneak priority and Focus Sash. But I haven't played anything Gen VII related yet, so I might be wrong.

Indeed I just said what I'd like to see, but of course, no new type introduction is going to happen now, because I believe types are balanced just OK as they are! But seeing that we have an Ablility like Levitate that renders Ground type attacks useless, having Soundproof does point towards the distant possibility of getting (sometime, maybe probably not) a Sound typing!

On a scale of 1 to 10, having a Sound typing for mons like Noivern, Exploud, etc and moves like Boomburst, Uproar, etc. would hit 11 for its awesomeness.

And more difficult ones every time. So, after finishing two Pokemon Reborn monotypes (Bug and Poison) and sharing them with the community in the Forums, I decided I needed a break from Reborn Region! So, I will probably wait for E17 to be released while I do... some other stuff! And the first one in my list is to (finally!) play Pokemon Rejuvenation! I've been wanting to do this for ages, but never actually did it, so it will be my first run of Rejuvenation. A blind run, if you want to call it this way. Well, semi-blind because I had watched playthroughs of Rejuvenation on Youtube, but that was ages ago, and before v9 (and Gen VII) was released. However, because doing things the easy way isn't my style, even though I will do this run in the Normal, Reborn-like difficulty, I will do a custom run! Many people in the Forums are familiar with Danganronpa. It is a Mystery/Crime Case Solving/Horror video game series and anime series, which is quite popular because of the interesting mix of mind manipulation, horror and crime-solving aspects of it. And my favourite character in it, is Gundham Tanaka. He is probably the best animal tamer in the world, with a specialty for rodents. His four hamsters, the "Four Dark Devas of Destruction" are cute as hell, and dangerous demons as he claims! Gundham has an extreme liking for the occult, Dark arts and, of course, in this playthrough, rodents! He can tame any kind of animal, but in the video games and the anime he has been shown to be the Master of his four hamsters, a pomeranian dog, and a bear. Below, you can see Gundham's appearance and even more below, his pets. So, long story short, this is what I will do myself! I will run through Rejuvenation using only Pokemon that Gundham would use! This means rodents, lagomorphs (scientific term for bunny-like animals), one dog and one bear of my choice! Everything else is out of the box! This creates a quite long list of Pokemon, most of which are extremely unimpressive, so this run will be extremely interesting! To myself at least . Also, for this run I will use (a lot) of screenshots, since I want to do a detailed run, and possibly add some gags with Photoshopped pics with Gundham and his Pokemon as they meet, bond, explore and have nice adventures! This is inspired by the amazing work that @DerogatoryTrainer has been doing with his Nuzlocke runs, which I recently discovered and enjoyed with my heart! However, I can't do the same 'cause shyness kills be everyday (), so Gundham will fill in for me! These screenshots will be accompanied by comments on the game, and I will try to add dialog to my main character, Gundham! I refuse to suppress such an strong personality by giving him a mute role, so my comments will make up for this! I will also upload the videos on Youtube and post the links at the end of every chapter, in order for you to see the battles with more detail, if you want to! Please note that I am a complete amateur when it comes to using Photoshop, but I will be doing my best! So, this run will be an educational experience for me, simultaneously! No mercy, you are going down sir @HongaarseBeer Swanna worked perfectly for me in my shiny run. Yes, I had to be careful for random ass-coverage Electric type moves, but the typing is very good defensively apart from that. Also, the dual physical/special coverage in flying moves comes in handy vs stuff like Gallade with HUGE Sp. Defence that would never drop down to a Hurricane. I don't know though... My Swanna had a magic wand and it almost always hit Hurricanes. And confused stuff too often too. I guess my Swanna was special <3 Or just RNG loved her. But again, this makes her special!

The only factors that contribute to popularity is power and design (level of "badassness/dopeness"/cuteness). And giving a new design to a 'mon is definitely an attempt to make it more popular. That's why I believe that these attempts should be directed towards weaker/less popular 'mons. I agree with this, but this also applies to Megas. It is not impossible for a Mega to be worse than the original, albeit it is rare indeed. e.g. Mega Garchomp sucks in comparison to the plain old Garchomp. The thing is that, both Alolan forms and Megas share some attributes. They are new forms of an already existant pokemon with different typing and stat distribution. The only difference is that Megas gain a boost in total Base stats while Alolan forms don't. Also, Alolan forms get a slightly (or vastly) different moveset compared to the original. Plus, Alolan forms came to replace Mega evolutions in Game Freak's release of SM, so it isn't entirely wrong to compare them. It is the same pokemon with different typing and moveset. The design is an edited design of the original one. It could as well be a shiny in Reborn. Reborn's shiny Rapidash for example (the rainbow unicorn one) could easily be a Fairy/Fire Alolan Rapidash. So, I believe that the official naming is correct. "Regional variable" of the same pokemon species. Strong pokemon don't need a new form. The scenarios if they get one are two. Either it is a success and they gain (even more) popularity, while weaker 'mons struggle and keep getting ignored, or it is a weaker version of the original, like Alolan Dugtrio. In either of these cases, it is a failure for the (different in each case) aforementioned reasons.

Popularity DOES go hand in hand with power, undoubtedly. You must be naive to think otherwise. But Let's just agree that we disagree. We'll see ridiculous stuff like Alolan Garchomp soon enough.

I second those suggestions. Panpour btw learns Scald by level-up at lv.22. Swanna is too fragile, but has a great typing and great moveset, and both Special and physical flying type moves (useful to check stuff like Gallade that are to specially bulky, but can't take a single physical hit).

Just to clarify... http://www.smogon.com/dex/sm/pokemon/slowking/ As you can see, Slowking is an NU mon that functions as an OU mon too in S/M. I didn't speak as of Game Freak way of thinking. I spoke based on usual logic. OU mons DON'T need another form. They are popular already. Also, despite of the fact that Alolan forms aren't a power boost, they are a popularity boost which should be given to dull, underused mons, not to OU mons. Again, not the way they think, the way they SHOULD think for sure though.

I'd enjoy having an Alolan Octillery. A more menacing and less lethargic octopus would do the trick. No. An Alolan form given to an OU mon? Just unnecessary. Give one to some mons nobody uses. Giving Alolan form to OUs is the same as giving a Mega evolution to a legendary Pokemon. Unnecessary.

I voted that it doesn't matter whether you use video or screenshots. I prefer video, if what I want to do is show every detail of a battle. Screenshots/description is very tiring to do, and you have to be fluent enough to describe every detail properly. With videos, this problem is solved. If you want to add some description and backstory, then screenshots are indeed better. I'd suggest to record and upload videos of the battles and use screenshots to incorporate any fiction side-description and main plot description/comments you want to make. This way, you'd have only the advantages of each method and eliminate the disadvantages.
