  1. Please keep spoilers in their spoiler boxes, with something that will indicate where the spoiler is outside of the box, so if someone hasn't been there they can avoid the spoiler. Try to not make obvious spoilers based on the mere fact that something is sad. I found exploring the Beryl Ward mansion(which is required to complete something) to be rather sad.
  2. That's one reason why I raised both a Trubbish and a Gulpin early on: grinding them instead of other Pokemon before the first gym meant I would be immune to wild Poison pokemon(in addition to countering the second gym).
  3. I see, is there yet any way to access the Sandbox Mode stuff during that portion of the game, or is that cut off? I'm not there yet, but it sounds like it's a long while that it won't be accessible. If not, I could still use VM self-trading(with the save moved back and forth from the normal game and sandbox mode, because online is disabled in sandbox).
  4. I don't like that IVs are still a thing. In normal Pokemon, this madness only affects competitive players at all. IMO, catching dozens of a Pokemon clashes with the feel of Pokemon somehow. It also ruins the special moment of encountering and obtaining a Pokemon you want. You end up playing catch-and-release for a while(for all the Pokemon you add to your team, probably hours). Breeding is even worse, as you release dozens of newly-hatched Pokemon out into the wild. They would either either be eaten; or survive, level up, and wreak havoc. The gameplay IVs result in is bad thematically, mechanically, and implication-ally. This is why I would recommend Sandbox Mode even for normal playthroughs, if you have sufficient self-control and awareness to not break the game. IVs should really be treated as though they are 31 except for Hidden Power. These "IVs" could be adjusted later in the game. (I.E. Trick Room, Play Rough, Confuse)
  5. The IVs, Natures, and EV training alone are really nice. I feel that the IV mechanic should have disappeared at Gen 2. Has this been added to the update yet? No rush, just want to know. (also, will flying to the Grand Hall when I shouldn't have the Fly HM yet break anything/start something that shouldn't be started/start a battle I can't beat with my current level? AFAIK, it will fly me into the New Reborn, but will that break anything if, when Reborn City is inaccessible, I fly to the Grand Hall, enter, use the "Grand Hall?", exit, exit, and fly out?)
  6. All axed Pokemon(Magikarp); axed items(plus noteworthy item sources, like the coveted 11th floor); and axed TMs(aka useful TMs), and anything of that nature. Couldn't find a thread listing all the axed TMs or Pokemon, so figure I'd make one thread for all the axed content.
  7. Post Pokemon that seriously aren't worth your time catching, and optionally the alternatives if you want something like it. (Whether they're bad, you have much better options, or it won't help at all yet.) Ariados(what Spinarak turns into) sucks. Its typing is helpful against fighting and grass, but its movepool is atrocious. Megahorn!... an egg move, X-scissor, a TM we can't get, Bug Bite, at a move tutor. For level-up moves, we have Pin Missile, which it learns at level 41. It learns Poison Jab... at LEVEL 50. When leech life gets buffed, it will be usable, but with one of two STABs and no good coverage, it's still bad. Shadow Sneak(40BP) is too little too late, at level 19, and the same with Night Shade(level damage) at level 15. It only has Poison Sting and Leech Life early on. Ariados is cool-looking and has alright stats for when you can get it, so this is pretty sad.(Not Reborn's fault, just it's canon movepool.) I bore with my shiny level 5 Spinarak with good-enough IVs up until it was a level 27 Ariados, at which point I looked it up and learned this. It became usable once it got Shadow Sneak and evolved, but I'm pretty disappointed in it. I sunk too much grinding time into it and it's just useless. First gym it gets no advantage and is not good enough yet(level 22 to evolve), and it's not actually good against the second gym leader. (Bug moves mean it will only get 1/2 resist, same as a mono-poison type, and Cradilily's rocks will crush Ariados flat.) Avoid catching Spinarak at all costs. Get a Poochyena if you want a physical attacker. Get Gulpin and/or a Trubbish for your poison type(s). Poison resists the poison you see in the first city's back alleys, can't be poisoned, resists the grass and bug that you'll be seeing before and after the second gym, won't be squashed by Cradilily, and won't be slashed apart by the Pidgeys and Pidgeottos in Jasper. Looking at all of this, it's extremely helpful. It's a good defensive type, and two layers of Poison Spikes gets you a free Toxic on a whole gym leader's team(unless they are ground-immune). Trubbish gets Toxic Spikes, Gulpin gets Yawn. Both get Acid Spray, which means you don't have to worry when they use a potion. For a bug-type, and a good Pokemon overall, get a female Combee.(Becomes Vespiquen. You'll need something with Headbutt to get your female Combee.)
  8. Curse this decrepit toaster of mine... EDIT: Mod Menu has an FPS function, which seems to work better for me. Don't know why. (I tried speedhack too, btw.)
  9. It seems like the bike and Fly come rather late. Fly being somewhat late is sadly necessary due to its high base power. Maybe Teleport should have its function changed to that of Fly? I've yet to see Teleport, and I'm at the second gym, so that'd probably be alright. (Teleportation should be better than mere flight. GF pls.) The bike seems like it should be either early, or once you have some money. (Bike sidequest already exists, it could have a different reward added.) Riding a pokemon would be better and easier; so a bike shouldn't be needed in-universe. (See: Pokemon Sun and Moon's Herdier/Tauros ride pagers) A bike is just simpler to add than a Ride HM. Grinding mons to the first gym's level was made much worse because travelling back and forth from the center to the alleyways took a while. (on another note, training a Cherubi seems to be hard in the first two gym-areas I've been to. is this the game being cruel?) Difficulty of battles, getting pokemon, items, level cap etc. is one thing, but no bike, let alone fly? That's just cruel tedium. There are plenty of bikers(and even motorbikers) in the pokemon games, so an expensive bike makes no sense. I get it's supposed to feel post-apocalyptic, and perhaps like you're a hobo(but pickup rewards and payday though?) but this is a very far stretch. Alt speedup doesn't seem to be enough: some areas are about the same. Probably my 7+ year-old toaster.
  10. Now I want a Hidden Base feature. It would have to have some kind of singleplayer function, though. (in addition to not being a rich hobo)
  11. This is quite possibly the best Pokemon feature. IDK why they didn't do this after HGSS. Especially with 3D, since the model could be the same.
