  1. Three reasons why summer is better than winter:

    1) Swimming at sea.

Guessing that is the difference between Germany and Greece...we have summer for like six months a year, so we adapted to it. You have winter for six months of year, so you adapted to it. I am a mechanical engineer and I work during summer too for my PhD on manufacturing processes, Which involves heavy work on cnc machines. Never had an issue with heat. Also, part of being Greek is loving sea. Which is not the case for Germans. So I understand and respect your opinion but I disagree....

We don't have nearly that much winter in Germany. I remember it used to be a pretty even 3-3-3-3 months split between the four seasons, but I feel like over the recent years Fall and Summer have been increasingly eating up the Winter and Spring months respectively. Fall is my favourite season, so that's cool, I just wish we didn't have that sudden jump from Winter to Summer, almost completely skipping Spring and making the rise in temperature that much worse from how sudden it is.

It's not like all of germany hates Summer, it's just me. The vast majority of people are happy when Summer rolls around (and constantly complain about the cold during Winter); it's extremely frustrating to hear everyone go "Oh, hopefully we'll get the heat back again soon!" when any temperature above 25°C makes you want to drop dead on the spot.

I see. Yes, this is true, globally winter and summer expand against autumn and spring. And, even though you don't have that much winter in Germany, your summer temperatures top at about 35 degrees. 34 degrees is pretty much our average for summer here, and it hit even 46 this year. So, you see why we are that much adapted to heat!

There are people in Greeece too that like winter, and I would as well, if it was snowy. I love playing with snow. But, unfortunately, winter in Athens is mostly like a colder version of extremely rainy autumn, cloudy and all, and I find it depressing.

Also, I have mild case of red-eye and blue eyes, which are weak to sunlight, so I am quite sensitive to extreme light too, but it is easily countered by sunglasses. Plus, after like 5 minutes, eyes adjust normally, so it isn't any different that normal after that time.
