My god, the Nintendo Gameboy could do anything. Selfies, Internet before the Playstation 2, a freaking Sewing machine... this portable console was ridiculous.

  2. The First Generation started with the Magnavox Odyssey in 1972. It... Wasn't that good. I don't think any of us have played a single Magnavox Odyssey game before, but AVGN has showcased it, and I think a lot of us got our knowledge on these old products because of AVGN. Atari Pong was released a bit later, and it was commercially successful. Still... I don't think it really compares to anything on the NES. Then the gaming industry crashed due to an overload of these things. This was known as the Crash of 1977. I don't think the term "Video Game" existed back then. Atari would go on to start the second Generation of Video games with the Atari 2600. This put the Video Game Industry on life support. Magnavox would release a Magnavox Odyssey 2, which didn't suck as much. While there wasn't much wrong with these consoles themselves, Poor quality control led to nonfunctional or unfun video games being made. As a result, the Crash of 1983 happen. Any gamer worth their salt knows about the Crash of 1983. Most like to blame it on a poor Pacman port to the Atari, or the movie licensed game E. T. the Extraterrestrial, based on Steven Spielberg's film. In retrospect, the Crash wasn't single-handedly caused by these two games: It was caused because people were tired of getting terrible games. There was no quality control over Atari games, meaning that companies could release whatever crap they wanted and consumers didn't have much education over what they were buying. The Third Generation came, where Nintendo truly revived the console gaming industry, instead of merely putting it on life support. The NES was almost completely dominant during this part of video game history. Sega also made a console, the SG-1000, but it was a failure, just like every console Sega made except the Genesis. The Third Generation was probably the most important generation in Video game history because it set standards for what Video games should be aiming for: Fun Gameplay, Atmosphere, visuals, and even story. So many games released on the NES are still regarded as classics because of what they did. Some of these titles were: Super Mario Bros, The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Final Fantasy, Castlevania, Contra, Tetris, Mega Man... these were the games that set the Standards. And this is where Video games became more than just simple entertainment. So, In all, I think Video Games weren't really great before the NES. And I think a lot of us can agree. I think I'll make another retrospective like this sometime.

  4. Isekai doesn't appeal to me because of the basic concept of it.

I know that they are from our real world, and that's the problem for me. The protagonist doesn't feel like a natural part of his surroundings. It's honestly more interesting for me when the Protagonist was born and grew up in that fantasy realm.

  5. So, this, is the power of third world gaming. This is an actual Official thing that happened. Capcom approved this. For those of you who don't know, the Zeebo is a Brazilian console, released in Brazil and Mexico. Announced in November 2008 in Rio de Janeiro and discontinued three years later. It... wasn't successful, because even Brazilians and Mexicans have access to PS3s, Xbox 360s, and Wiis. They released several crappy ports of beloved games on the Console. Resident Evil 4 was one of those unlucky sods. And I would believe that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim would have been released on the console had it been released at the time. Just look at this. It's inferior to the PlayStation 1 despite coming out 14 years later. There are no animated cutscenes: Most of the story is told through Text rather than Speech. The game doesn't look fun to play either. I didn't know Leon could knock down Ganados using his crotch. The music is absolutely dreadful too. You know, the lower graphics might have made this game creepier, like the PlayStation 1 Resident Evils. But the Terrible music ruins any chance of me taking this game seriously. If you want to play Resident Evil 4, ignore this. If you have any good Video Game Consoles, there is a chance that Resident Evil 4 is on that Console. Even if it wasn't on the Wii U, you can buy it on the Wii. If for some reason, you want to play this version, you can. Just don't waste your money on a Zeebo. This version was ported to iPhone/Android, and I guess everyone and their mother has a phone today. But really... this version is still trash, no matter what version you play. I'd totally pay for a Resident Evil 4 port for the Graphics Calculator, though.
  6. Pokemon Trainer Sephiroth wants to fight.

  7. If you played Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots without knowing their names, then I doubt that you’d be able to tell that they are from the same series.

One takes place in a watery setting, and the other starts in a Desert.

  8. Am I the only one who'd like to see a Final Fantasy 4 to 9 styled "My Hero Academia" video game?

In fact, go with the 3D style of the PS1 Final Fantasies.

Its a dumb Idea: Fighting games are more suited for Shonen Manga and Anime, Even Though MHA hasn't had a good fighting game yet. But Still, I'd like to see it.

  9. And for the Third Main character of the Pokemon Fangame, I've come up with my Idea.

A Cyborg. Thought by the first two Protagonists to have died a long time ago, She instead Lived and was turned into a Cyborg.

And Yes, This character is a rip off of Gray Fox. Don't worry, her character Arc will be different. Although I wouldn't mind having a scene somewhat like this.

Nothing. Just it seems that both of the main Fangames that define why people use this site have an overload of female representation.

Not enough Male or Non-Binary representation... but to be honest, how many people claim to be nonbinary these days? Still, I don't think Rejuvenation has a single Non-Binary important character apart from the MC (and that's only if you choose for xem to be.)

Anyways, I've decided that this Cyborg shouldn't really be a playable character. I might Kill her off, making the time you spent on grinding her skill tree to be useless.

  10. My dream of a more story based official Pokémon game will become a reality. Finally.

........there's a place for fetish discussion on here (or maybe Discord)?  Well, I'm better off not knowing.

  12. I think that for the second main character for my Pokemon Fangame, I'll create a proper female Cloud Strife.

Lightning from Final Fantasy XIII was a mistake... Why, Nomura?

It should be noted that while that was the intent when Designing Lightning, her Character Arc ends up making her radically different. I think this is something I could do. Start her out pretty similar, write her character arc to be different.

  13. In Retrospective of the 6th Generation of Consoles....

    Playstation 2 = Gamecube > Xbox >>>>>> Dreamcast.

      Youmu9

What are you comparing these with? Sales? Power? Games?

    2. ShadeStrider

      ShadeStrider

Games. That's actually how you measure a console's worth because no matter how powerful the console is, It means nothing unless that Console has a library of great games.

Gamecube and Playstation 2 had better overall Libraries than the Xbox. All three have better libraries than the Dreamcast, although this may be attributed to the Dreamcast failing in the Market and being discontinued.

In technicality, the Xbox is the most Powerful Console. But it's library just doesn't match up to the Playstation or Gamecube.

  14. I didn’t really expect much. But the Combat was satisfying, and about 3/4ths of the Stories were interesting, even if the format they are told in results in them being horribly disjointed.
  15. I'm surprised nobody has Crucified me for saying Final Fantasy XV. I probably would have been Crucified for saying MGSV, but then again, most of this board knows Solid Snake as "That Guy who was in Smash Bros." Hardly anyone here has actually played a Metal Gear game, I guess. Anyways: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword: Disappointing dungeons, The Controls are frustrating, and the Atmosphere isn't substantial like in Majora's Mask or Twilight Princess. It's the weakest 3D Zelda.
  16. March 23rd is coming on fast, and we have yet to see what Persona 5 R is.

I am ashamed because I haven't got my hands on Persona 5 yet. Not played it, only heard of a couple of characters.

I have a PlayStation 3... but since we are so close to an announcement that probably means the game is on Switch, then I'll buy that one.

If not... then the PlayStation 3 version will have to do. Despite the apparent Slow Loading times. I was able to put up with them in Skyrim, but it would be best to get the game with minimal loading time.

  17. Someone was paid actual money for producing this song.

It sounds like a man dying of flatulence with an out of tune trumpet glued to his ass.

Imagine actual Resident Evil gameplay with this music. It will cure any depression you may have.

  18. There are plenty of games that didn't really live up to the hype they set up. These games have been scattered across history. But a lot of them seem to be mostly in the 2000s (Probably because game franchises were establishing themselves in the 1980s and 1990s. Let's discuss some of them. Resident Evil 6- this game... It strayed too far from being a horror game and was pretty much all action and no horror. Resident Evil 4 at least had a Balance between the two. Resident Evil 5 was less balanced, but It still had its moments. Not terrible, but not great either. Resident Evil 7 was well received because it brought Resident Evil back to its roots. Fire Emblem Fates- Nothing really wrong with the gameplay. Its the really rushed Storyline that got me. Awakenings wasn't a masterpiece, but it was decent. This one wasn't. Xenoblade Chronicles X- Again, the Story. Why is it so bland? Why do so many of the "emotional moments" fall flat? Why is the Nopon companion so annoying. I don't really like this cast of characters. (Get ready: Terrible Storytelling is gonna get some mileage in this post. It doesn't automatically make a game bad, but coming off of a lot of franchises known for compelling or even bare decent narratives, of course, people are gonna be disappointed when a story is Lackluster. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity - Why did they cut out almost all Non-Gen 5 mons? For me, part of the charm of the Mystery Dungeon games was playing through the Story with different Starters. In this game, the number of Starters is only 5. This even hurts the Dungeons a lot, since Enemy Variety is limited. The Narrative is honestly the weakest of the 4 Mystery Dungeon games (although Hydreigon was a good character). Super Mystery Dungeon was better. Devil May Cry 2 - The core gameplay isn't bad, but the way it's used isn't very well thought out. The open Areas make running and shooting an overpowered option, taking a lot of difficulties away from the game, and Hitting enemies with a Sword is less satisfying than Devil May Cry 1. Fighting enemies was a lot more fun in Devil May Cry 1 and 3. The bland environments don't help much. The one that might get me crucified: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain: The Core gameplay is great. It's so Well developed. CQC is at its best in this game. And the amount of freedom you get when taking on levels makes replaying missions feel fun. I can see why this game got its critical acclaim. But the problem is... well A lot of problems actually. The "Boss" Fights are lackluster, especially considering its predecessors. Remember Psycho Mantis? Remember The End? Remember Liquid Ocelot? Remember Jetstream Sam? If you want good Boss Fights, then you are better off going back to the previous games. The Story, while not offensive enough to make the game feel like a negative experience, Is extremely underwhelming. The whole game's plot feels unconnected. It brings up questions that are never answered, The main villain (Skullface) is extremely weak as a villain. And the Open World feels unnecessary. I can say that I had fun with it, but even Rising, while not being a stealth game and having Raiden go through that Character Regression, still felt more like a Metal Gear game than Phantom Pain. That being said, for the conditions that this game was being developed in, it actually turned out great. It's miraculous that we actually got a competent game. Final Fantasy XV: The combat isn't that fun at all. I do find the world a bit more interesting than Phantom Pain's. But again, the story turned out incredibly lackluster, mostly because the darn plot wasn't focused enough. At least MGSV had characters that I knew beforehand, which made some of the scenes feel a lot more fun (even if a lot of the characters were OOC). This introduced new ones that, while some of their banter was pretty funny, I didn't really feel the need to care as much). Final Fantasy XIII's plot was better, even if you didn't like the Hallways or Lightning. It isn't saying much, but that's how I feel. (I don't mind if the FFVII Remake uses this combat. Even if the combat turns out to be as interesting as FFXV (that is to say, not that interesting), The Story has the potential to be interesting enough for me to care, since... Its Final Fantasy VII. That game's narrative is one of the greatest gaming narratives ever created, of course I'd want to see it with Advent Children-style CG cutscenes.) There are plenty more. I probably ain't done yet. That being said, do feel free to discuss games that you feel disappointed immensely, even if they aren't terrible.

Fair enough. I avoid it whenever possible, but I can't help it if I accidentally see it on a forum that I made. Had to report the guy for NSFW posting... but I'm scarred for life.

  20. Getting bored one day, I decided to watch a bunch of Naruto Filler arcs that went up until the end of Part 1.

I’ve lost count of how many times a bad guy has referred to their power as the “Ultimate” power, even if it pales in comparison to Nagato’s mastery of the Rinnegan. Let alone The goddamn Nine tales, Itachi’s Mangekyo Sharingan, Sasuke’s Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan, or literally anything reanimated Madara can do.

  21. It must take place on Titans, and the main party must have a lovable Nopon ally, like Riki and Tora. Other than that, go nuts. You can even make it turn based if you want to. Will you have another protagonist who's technically dead, who wields a Red Sword? Will you have another girl who's actually a great character, who ends up getting friendzoned by the Main Protagonist because they aren't the main female who leaves the party for an extended period of time? But people will ship them anyway? Will you make the Protagonist an edgelord? That would be unique to the series. Shulk and Rex aren't really edgelords. Would you make the Nopon Ally the only Nopon in the game? I hope not, because then we wouldn't have things like Chairman Bana, who might be my second favorite villain in XC2, even If I can't take him seriously. And... Muimui. Apparently, he was voiced by the same guy who voiced Xord. I find that hilarious. Would you make Shion Uzuki the main protagonist? Buy the rights from Bandai Namco. Would you have Kefka Palazzo as the main Antagonist? Buy the rights from Square. Maybe you could put Albert Wesker in the game. Buy the rights from Capcom.
  22. So, Today I started making My own Pokemon Fangame.

    Yes, it is "Reborn Styled."

Why have I not made a topic about it? It's because I've only designed one map: One simple, Straightforward, Reused-Tilesets-From-Reborn Map. The Map music is "Cavern" from Metal Gear Solid 1.

I want to make a party system with, maybe 6 protagonists? The first one is intended to be an edgelord, and I have a general idea of what he looks like. But I haven't even begun spriting him yet. Actually, I don't even know how to sprite.

I could get a team together... But I feel as if I have to present this as a proof-of-concept first. To see if my Idea is decent, or that I'm competent at programming.

Maybe I'd even make new tilesets for this game... Or I'll end up keeping the Reborn ones.

Or maybe I'd get bored midway through the development of chapter 1 and quit entirely.

The Story and World are what I really want to focus on. But Gameplay and Game Design first. Otherwise, It's not a very good Video Game, is it?

I also kind of want to go the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion route when designing Sidequests: Make them so wildly unpredictable, so that when the player first enters the game, they have no real Idea what to expect. That's what sets Oblivion's sidequests above Skyrim's and Morrowind's, and part of why its the best Elder Scrolls game.

And the name... I don't even have a name for it. Pokemon... Oblivion version?
