It's probably a fact now at this point that I'm probably the biggest fan of Tales of Symphonia on the Earth, since I now own EVERYTHING Tales of Symphonia related, including all of the overly expensive figurines, blu-ray dvd's, posters, Japanese manga, Japanese novelization, wall-scrolls, and all versions of the game (including Japanese exclusive versions). Yes, I am a nerd, yes, I am a huge fan-boy who has plans to go to a Tales of Festival in Japan, and YES... I want to get my stuff autographed.

Currently, I am an Animator, Animation Director, Fan-Game Developer, Stage Actor, and Computer Science Major with a Secondary Major in Performing Arts.

Also... I don't like Pokeplayers. Fact.

Animation and voice acting directing work, down below:

  1. The whole Nindies thing doesn't seem all that appealing to me. It's gotten to the point that every Indie game has started blending together. I get it, indie developers don't want to spend too much money on their games, so they resort to pixel art. Well, now it's gotten to the point that there is a level of over-saturation of 2D, pixel art games that, for me, they start looking all the same to me.

They play differently, yes, but my brain has gotten all muddled the past 5 years, with this style and they all start to look the same.

I love pixel art, by the way, and I prefer it over 3D, in some cases, but indie games, I feel, need to start taking more risks with their investments, so the games don't all look and feel the same from a first glance.

      Totally see what you're saying

Like, Shovel Knight was fantastic and as some of these newer ones are trying to cut into the same pie, it just doesn't have that innovative-yet-classic feel anymore, you know?

      (terrible metaphor)

That's exactly how I feel. The novelty of it wore off, and it's starting to feel like, no one wants to innovate, be creative and try breaking some kind of mold. I love pixel art, I really do. When done right, it looks amazing, and I like it more than 3D. But, as a developer you need to find ways to make your game be appealing at a first glance, and show that you put a lot of effort into your investment, rather than slicing into someone else's pie.

Now you know my feels when indy games first started getting big. I grew up with the true classics and enjoyed gaming progress since then. So going back to that old megaman metroidvania stuff didn't work for me. I'm not a hipster. I'm just old and experienced.
