How to access the Sandbox: use the PC in the Grand Hall. Pokemon Reborn: Sandbox Mode What is a sandbox? It's a place that people play in where they can let their creativity and imagination run wild and just do whatever they want. So, lets apply that to video games. A sandbox for a video game is a mode that embraces the openness and creativity of its players, and allows them to play the game however they want. It gives them access to all sorts of tools to allow the player unrestricted control over the gameplay itself. Pokemon Reborn: Sandbox Mode is made with that philosophy in mind. Sandbox Mode adds several Quality of Life features to give the player a multitude of options to customize their play-through. At the start of the game, just after obtaining your starter, you'll be able to talk to an NPC off to the side in the Grand Hall that takes you to the Sandbox's new map, where one will find several NPCs that do a variety of things. From purchasing practically every item under the sun, to being able to grind EVs off of dedicated trainers, to having easy access to the Nature Switcher, Day Care, and Move Tutors all on the same map- it's there and waiting to be used however you want. Sandbox Mode also does not modify any of the existing game content, so you don't need to worry about anything being changed at all! However, for the time being, Sandbox Mode has netplay disabled until Reborn itself is completed. This is for fairness reasons, as players who play Sandbox would have an extra advantage over players not using Sandbox as a result of some of the features. I created Sandbox Mode primarily for the people who want to do customized runs of Reborn. Those types of runs are extremely popular and prolific, and I figured that something like this could definitely benefit those who want to do something like a mono-type run. But honestly, I'm a proponent for people having fun, and giving them the tools to have fun however they want, and as long as they aren't ruining other people's runs, then why not let them do what they want? Features of Sandbox Mode As mentioned, Sandbox Mode adds several QoL NPCs to a new floor in the Grand Hall. A list of what these NPCs are can be found here, under the spoiler: And if you want screenshots of the features in actions, they're under this spoiler: And even better, it has Amethyst's personal approval! If you're interested, a download link for the mod and the online version of the guide for the mod can be found here: Primary Download Link (Github): Pokemon Reborn - Sandbox Mod (Episode 19) Sandbox Mode Guide: https://goo.gl/9neDsj (Might be outdated.) As an additional note, if you're going to promote the mod, please link back to both this forum thread as well as to Reborn itself. The first one is to ensure people download the up-to-date versions, the second one is out of respect to Amethyst and the other developers of Reborn. Hopefully you guys enjoy, and that this inspires you to do even more things with your runs than before! If you use it, feel free to post about your experiences here or across the community, I'd love to see people make use of this! NOTE: I have not deeply tested how broken things are as of the current release, but I know things are going to break. When you find something something that does, inform me and I'll look into it and see if I can fix it.

Happened in PM on Discord, but I still find it worth sharing

So now that enough of the sprites are done, I'll probably start doing my Custom Reborn Run Stream soon.
And by Soon, I mean after AGDQ ends, so in a few days.

You're on the right track! First and foremost, if you're just using Titania (or any other pre-existing sprite), you don't need to open it in paint or any other image editor. So, here's Titania's sprite as it is in game, before any edits: Since you're replacing the male set of sprites, what you do next is locate boy_walk (since that's what you replaced) and do the following: -> -> Then, make a copy of the Titania sprite (because you dont want to flat rename it) -> -> Now, as for boy_walk... You'll need to rename it back yourself, but this is the vanilla e16 sprite. After that, the sprites should load correctly.

A growing trend in the community as of late has been Protagonist Swap Runs, where you play the game as a character that isn't one of the default protagonists (This can be your own OC, this can even be Titania, it could be the Rejuvenation protagonists! or it could be renko/maribel from the touhoumon games ). It occurs to me that this trend can be confusing to people who don't know how to do it, yet want to. So, I've decided to write a guide up that should explain how to do it. Do note, this guide will not tell you how to make custom sprites. It is outside the scope of this guide, and if you're looking for spriting tutorials, I recommend looking elsewhere. Step 1: Find the sprites you're replacing The first thing you'll need to do is have the sprites ready for your character. This guide assumes you have them ready for insertion, so let's go over the files that need replacing. Left is Protagonist 1, Right is Protagonist 2. Folder: Pokemon Reborn\Graphics\Characters - This folder contains the basic overworld sprites. the Trainer Card sprite, and the battle backsprite. Figure out which one you want to replace, and replace it. - Male Sprites - Female Sprites - Non Binary Sprites Folder: Pokemon Reborn\Graphics\Pictures - The stuff in this folder is usually for miscellaneous attributes. The only things to change in here are the sprites used for the intro sequence (which only get used in that sequence), and the Fly Icon. Folder: Pokemon Reborn\Graphics\Transitions - The stuff in this folder is used for the various battle transitions. All you'd need to change in here is the graphic that corresponds to your protagonist's Vs. Sprite cut-in. Step 2: Insert your sprites For the purposes of this guide, I will use my own set of sprites. You also do not have permission to use them, as they're for my own OC and her upcoming run. When you have the sprites you want to replace identified, go about replacing those sprites with your own custom ones. Name the new sprites their appropriate filenames, and place them in the correct folders. I highly recommend having a backup of the original sprites just in case! This is a sprite from each of the three relevant folders, with their relevant naming scheme. Again, make sure they are named exactly as the old files were, and are in the exact same folder! Step 3: In-Game Testing Finally, the fun part; testing the sprites in game! If you did everything correctly, you should see the sprites showing up just like any other sprite would. And that's it! You have successfully inserted your very own protagonist! What will you use this new protagonist for- a Mono-Only Run? Roleplaying purposes? To tell a story? General Shitposting? The possibilities are endless! Just be sure to have fun with it!

It's actually Umi and Eli, with Nico owning his soul after he sold it for 15 million Pokedollars Though as of late it's Dia and Hanamaru -

It's a pair of bundled socks I was fiddling with that I just decided to have rest on my head for the sake of a picture, don't really know why ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ They're a pair of Sades headphones iirc, but so far they've been good to me- aside from the usual wire fraying over time deal, but the headset is still in functional shape.

Do you like Touhoumon? What about short games? What about top-tier quality games? I can't promise that last one, but have I got the game for you! Just check out my new fangame in the Expose to waste three hours of your life on a short, but fun, little game I made!

********** --Okay now I KNOW what you're thinking. You're probably thinking "Derx, this isn't Faith & Prayer Version! What're you doing!". Well, i'm beyond burned out on Faith & Prayer Version - I've gotten done so little work on it in the past year, and my external biting the dust crippled my motivation and I still haven't fully recovered honestly. I've rebuilt all the old content I lost and added new content, but progress is extremely slow there. But this thread isn't to talk about Faith & Prayer! No, we're talking about a small project I made (and finished! Wowie!) back during October called Touhou Puppet Play ~ The Mansion of Mystery. The game was built for the Pokecommunity Game Jam, "Blinded By The Fight" back in October, where you had to follow a specific theme to enter - the theme being utilizing the Dewford Gym darkness circle mechanic. When I saw the theme, I knew instantly what I should make (Though I spent a few days during early development cementing ideas). As such, the game is extremely short - roughly 2 to 4 hours, maybe longer depending on factors. It revolves around a group of four from the human village and their expedition to uncover the truth behind “the mysterious mansion that has music coming from it”. The writing of the game is about as close to your average Touhou plot as I could get, and the way the game is handled is also similar: Six core stages, one Extra stage that gets accessible only if you can Perfect Run (1cc/no blacking out) the entire game. The difficulty is a bit rough, especially if you’re unfamiliar with the 1.8 Type Chart, but it is beatable without grinding, and in one shot. The game also has a slightly modified EXP system, where you get x1.25% exp (5/4ths) for beating a Puppet, just to make up for how short the game is, and how quickly the levels ramp up as a whole. It's balanced around battling every trainer, so take that into consideration! Honestly, making this game was extremely fun! The deadline let me keep myself in check, and I needed fresh blood to work on to try and get me back in the swing of development. I’m glad I made it and took part in the game jam! So far I’ve heard good feedback about it (even one of the judges said it was a close race for first between mine and first place!), and I know I put in a lot of effort to make the game as good as I possibly could! It is my hope that you all who download and play it can enjoy it just as much, if not more, as I enjoyed making it! Granted I took second out of three, but it was an extremely close second according to the judge. A link to the game can be found here: Touhou Puppet Play ~ The Mansion of Mystery (ver. 1.2) And in case those pictures didn't do anything to help, have a few videos as well:

[Ep 16] Music Quality (and money quality)
DerxwnaKapsyla replied to Timber Dragon's topic in Reborn City
I like the way some tracks were shuffled a bit, since some of them were extremely unfitting in some cases, but that's not why I'm commenting here! I'm calling out the money mechanics, because it's kinda- no, not kinda, extremely skewered. Playing E16, I get into a battle with the rematchable trainer in the Grand Hall. If I lose, I have to fork over 20k. If I win, I get 1.4k. Those numbers are incredibly slanted. I'm not going to say bring the win money back up to the point where you're a billionaire, but, the player shouldn't be getting 1.5k for beating a Late-Game Gym Leader, and forking over 20k for a loss. I understand that grinding for money off the rebattleable trainers is a thing that will happen, but slanting the gain like that is... really disastrous. You'd have to either slant how much you lose as well, to bring it back up into a somewhat understandable range, or bring back up the money you get to like; in either situation, I'd call ~5k the ideal spot. This is also hardened by the fact that, if I remember correctly, we don't get access to the Amulet Coin or a Luck Incense, so we don't have the option of doubling gains if we do win. -

Touhoumon Faith & Prayer Version
DerxwnaKapsyla replied to DerxwnaKapsyla's topic in Fan-game Exposé
So, I don't update forum posts very often - it's better to get news from my blog (or work blog) directly, but I'll summarize the past few months. Around the start of October, the very start of the month, while I was working on Faith & Prayer Version, my external fried and broke on me. I mentioned this in the first post. Recently, I got some information on my external - the Read/Write head on it was broken, and would need to be replaced. The rough quote estimate was around 600~1500 dollars. I opened up a donation pool to try and help me fund the data recover (because there's other important stuff to me on there that can't be replaced even if I had all the time in the world), but I'm not expecting a miracle of it being under 900 dollars, nor am I expecting people to donate such great sums of money. So I spent the past 3 months in a hyper-depressive slump, gradually getting worse and worse as time went on. I decided it was time to put an end to that. On the 25th, I reopened RPG Maker XP and my backup of Faith & Prayer version for the first time in 3 months and started to try and recover my groove. Since then I've added a few small things, such as an EV/IV check screen. I'm also not entirely ready to rework on the maps I had lost, so I'm doing a play through of the game once more to try and find some earlier bugs and issues, and as I play I'm touching up the maps. I've grown a lot since I started working on Faith & Prayer Version back in, and I've noticed some of my older mapping decisions are a bit tacky, as well as some of my balancing decisions. In the balancing department, I have changed Curator Miles's battle around. This change was made because I felt having Chibi Suika with Minimize was godawful and this wasn't my idea in the beginning. This is currently up to a suspect test, but I haven't had any real issues with the new fight. As for the maps, I've touched them up in a way that I think improves how they look, but keeps the design the same. For example. This is Pallet Town in Demos 6 downward And this is how it looks in Demo 7 now. The same type of changes have been made to Route 1 and Viridian City so far. Expect the new Demo to have revised maps along these lines. As a result, you'll need to save inside buildings before updating, but that's something to worry about when the update happens. I also made some tweaks to the trade script! It's not very big, but it adds some more life to trading I'd say. I'm looking into revising the trade segment some more, so it looks prettier. The only real changes to it right now are a bgm during trade and a fanfare when you finish a trade. An example video can be found right here. So, while progress on Demo 7's actual content is... well, near-non-existent (I had some D7 stuff before I lost the external, but mostly some framework scripts, such as music looping), I'm slowly working myself into being able to actually work on the game again. I can't tell you when Demo 7 will be done (i never could tell you when any demo would be done), but I can tell you that progress is being made once more. I haven't gotten proper word back about if the external data is recoverable yet, as it was Christmas Weekend so the repair place was closed, but I'll call in later today and see what I can find out. If you want to donate money to help me recover my data, please hold onto it until I find out more - I don't want people donating their money only for me to find out that I can't recover the data, then sitting there with money stockpiled in my account. I'd honestly feel terrible. If you really want to though, there is a link to my paypal donation button on my blog. I'll try and keep people informed on the updates to Faith & Prayer Version as time progresses. Until next time folks, stay magnificent! -
Donald Trump is the most logical person, but I have a very special place in my heart for Electronic Arts and how they mangled the entire Command & Conquer Franchise. Eat 20 dicks, EA! Try not to choke.
