I got clarification from Jan: The bug was being able to leave with Marianette behind you. Being able to leave the mansion after she's taken away is completely intentional. Also, you can simply use common candies on Salazzle to level it down and one level before the earliest move you want, and relevel it. EDIT: GODDAMNIT JAN >:(

Actually, you can leave the mansion when it's time to battle Marianette; it's only blocked when she's with you, so you can prepare for the battle.

Deep Sea Tooth can be gotten from stealing from Basculin and Carvanha. I don't think Deep sea scale can be obtained.
