  1. Alright, so, I'm kind of curious. Just got two questions. One; Why is the game named 'spork'? It's always confused me, especially now that I've played it to see that it's not actually a joke game like I thought it was (or at least not nearly as 'joke' as I'd assumed). I actually avoided this game for the longest time because I thought it was gonna be a silly, april-fools-esque game with no real point to it. Two - what the heck is up with the pokedex descriptions? I caught a Corphish and found out it's description is 'Jimmy Dean', and every other Mon I have is described similarly. Those two confusions aside, I'm having fun with this fangame - the ability to choose any mon I want as a starter is extremely refreshing~
  2. Nah, it was the sprite that was a redesign of a character in Reborn, all whiteish clothes and silver hair in a ponytail. I think it was replaced with a brown-haired fella in a headband in 4.1.1. I loved the way he looked, but I guess I can understand why he'd be removed.
  3. My favorite male sprite for the player character was removed from the game, apparently? Sad now. The new guy just isn't the same. Ah, well. Still love the game regardless~ Also; kind of excited to see all the changes in the game. Might make a new file to play around and see what's new.
  4. Hi, me again. Sorry to bother people. Out of curiosity, is there a fire-stone in the current release? Because I've got leaf and water, and with all my other pokemon evolved at least once, my Growlithe is starting to lose it's usefulness since it goes down so easy compared the the rest of my team. I'm already at Route 3 and I can't figure out if I just haven't hit the Fire Stone yet or if I've somehow missed it completely. Or if it doesn't even exist and I've screwed myself by not catching another Fire type when I could.
  5. Also, one last gripe before I resume lurking - I've had this game for months and I still haven't beaten Connor. Not once. I'm starting to suspect he CAN'T be beaten without cheating somehow.
  6. Okay. I give up. I've been looking for actual months. How the heck do I solve the helix cave bidoof puzzle, and how is it that there are exactly ZERO walkthroughs of that cave??? There's his one video of somebody getting TO the bidoofs, but not past them. Is that the whole point to the cave? Just to get to the Bidoofs? EDIT; Nevermind. I somehow did it? No idea how; I was just mashing 'A' on bidoofs in random order. Eventually a door opened.
  7. Is it still possible to get an Eevee somewhere other than the Random Starter thing, because I do want an Eevee (for Sylveon) but at the same time I'm not sure I wanna sit at my computer soft-resetting for potentially days if there's an easier way to do it. I mean I do want one as early as possible, but that's just me being impatient.
  8. Sorry to post again but just one more thing; is it possible to get a dawn stone? I have a Ralts that I hope to evolve into a gallade eventually, but I can't find any information on if dawn stones exist in-game yet. In fact, most information I DO find is from version six-ish, and it's always that noone's been able to find one.
  9. Something I've been curious about ever since I've started playing this game - on the ship in the beginning of the game, in one room there's a girl that says something along the lines of not looking at/taking the thing in her cabinet, but later on when you're escaping, and she's not there, it's gone. Is there actually an item there that you can get at some point...?
  10. I tried to download this, but uhm... is it SUPPOSED to be like 1.2 gigabytes big? Because that's kind of huge, for a rom game. At least in my experience.
  11. Yeah, I figured it was probably just a poor team setup so rather than spend time grinding I chose to reset and pick up a better team, rather than frustrate myself. Regardless, at this point my team is now Unaware Wooper, Keen Eye Pidgey, Pickup Zigzagoon (for the bonus items, since no store early in), RainDish Lotad (it was shiny and I ran out of pokeballs after that) and Overcoat Sewaddle. I'm planning on grinding up the wooper and lotad to try and at least hold him back until I can set up something, once I get to him again. My mistake before had been just grinding my Sewaddle and assuming Connor was a later-on leader, so I didn't bother with catching a water-type since I had a grass-type for all the cave-'mons, and how a water-type was a liability in a forest. Not sure how a bidoof could help, though...
  12. Sorry to post again so soon but I am in desperate need of strategies for Connor; he trashed me. I couldn't land a single hit in on his vulpix - the first pokemon he send out by the way. My team was only three levels below him, at worst - I expected a bit of a challenge, sure, but not to be absolutely obliterated. Jeeze.
  13. Is there a specific way to progress through the beginning boat scene? Because after I got my trainer card, I explored all the rooms, found the thing in that last room to the right, and now I can't go anywhere. I'm stuck in the hall and vaguely certain I just broke some scripting from not following my friends to wherever it was they wanted me to go...
  14. I've finally started playing this, and I'm already stuck. Where the heck is the captain of the ship in the beginning? I've talked to everybody and listened in on two cabins, and I have no idea what to do next. I'm a failure of pokemon, lost in the first ten minutes of playing... ;w; Nevermind. Like an idiot, I missed the second staircase leading up. Ignore me and my idiocy.
  15. The increased and customized shinies. When I first played this game I didn't know that the shinies had been customized and were different from in the canon games - much to my surprise when I got my shiny Snivy and it was black and red instead of that weird blue-ish color in the main series. I was absolutely delighted~ Another thing I like is the plot; that your character setting out to be the champion isn't in the forefront of the game, if it's even a thing. It seems more to me that the player character is getting badges sheerly for the convenience, or because they have to, rather than because they want to 'be the very best'. It's something I don't see in many hacks (if reborn can really be considered a 'hack' as such) nowadays - whenever I try to find good roms, the plot always centers around your character wants to be the champion, or nothing plot-wise is changed at all and it's just a re-skin of the canon games. Reborn is something really unique, and despite my irritations with some of the mechanics, it's plot is one of my favorites I've seen in Pokemon hacks so far. I think I rambled off topic in that last part. Whoops...
  16. I'm not fond of the first gym fight, myself. She covers so many bases that I have a horrendous time fighting her. In the canon games, my usual tactic is to level my team until I'm a good five to ten levels above the strongest member of the leaders team. Since that's generally a bad move in Reborn with the cap and all, I looked at the gym type and decided to funnel a ton of XP into my Snivy so it would evolve, and then I'd take down the Emolga with my other mons and sweep the rest with servine+leaf tornado. Only to find out that she's got a SapSipper Blitzle with Flame charge - OHKO'd my entire team. I still have yet to beat her since I can't find anything that won't be OHKO'd by her damned blitzle. Oh, and Fern. I despise Fern with every fibre of my being.
  17. Sync, that fixed everything. My laptop was on PowerSave, and switching to Balanced has made Reborn run much smoother - I suspect that having Powersave on might actually be the cause of my overall PC lag too, so thank you so much for mentioning that. I never would have thought how the Laptop power was distributed would cause such a vast difference.
  18. I've got next to nothing open, so that probably isn't the issue, no... Before I got my laptop sent in, Reborn worked perfectly, so all I can think of is that it's something on my computer that's causing the game to be so slow. I can't for the life of me think of what, though... Yeah, I just checked - even when it's the only program running, and is on the smalllest size, it still takes a second or two for the character to move one space, and the lag continues on, one or two seconds, then they move one space, and so on. Maybe I should try a clean install? I copied Reborn over from a thumbdrive, might that cause the issue?
  19. So, I started playing Reborn again, started up a new file since my old save got deleted after sending my laptop in to get repairs, and upon starting up Reborn - I get moderate to heavy lag constantly when I'm not inside a building. I don't know what's causing it, but I'm hazarding a guess that it's the weather effects, and I'm wondering if there's some metaphorical switch I can toggle to make it easier on my computer? It runs perfectly fine otherwise, just that on overworld outside any building at all, it goes from smooth, to jagged and jumpy instantly, and it seems to stay that way unless I enter another building. If any help could be given, that would be amazing.
  20. Alright so. First off I am and always have been absolutely horrendous at introductory things so apologies for how terrible this may end up as. I'm actually not really sure where to start at, so uh... I'm from Tumblr - forums aren't new to me but I'm more comfortable on Tumblr for... some reason or another. Probably because I know more people there. I write a lot, rp a lot, and I'm generally playing pokemon whenever I'm not doing that. To be honest, I've been a pokemon fan since it first came out - I remember after it came out and elementary school everyone was playing pokemon, not on gameboys or anything, but like, pretending to be trainers, or pokemon, and maybe a bunch had gameboys too and man oh man. Pokemon EVERYWHERE when I was little. That being said, I like to think I'm at least pretty decently knowledged in Pokemon things, at least the common stuff. You lot could probably beat me into the dirt though. PvP battles are most definitely not my forte. If it matters any, just to try and make this longer and fill it with more crap; my favorites are Nidoran(M) and Gallade, and thanks to it's rarity in Gen1 I cannot live without having a Scyther in my possession. As well, up until the introduction of the Fairy type, I had the typing matchup damn near memorized. All screwed up now that a couple dozen pokemon are different types. Dammit. But yes, hello. I'm very much new to this place and in general hope to be a writer one day, or an animator if I can get over my massive procrastination and permanent lack of motivation. Hopefully I'm going to have a lot of fun here~
  21. Ah. Yes, thank you~ I wasn't certain if that had been changed at all, and wanted to clear it up before I decided to spend a bunch of money on slow-down based hold items. Thank you~!
  22. I know I made another topic a little while ago, and I'm sorry, but I wasn't sure - and couldn't find - where one would ask this question. In the canon game, I believe Contrary only affects stats-changing moves, but since so much in Reborn has been altered, I was wondering - if given an item meant to slow down a pokemon, such as Lagging Tail, would a Contrary pokemon speed up? Because I wouldn't really wanna give it a hold item mean to raise a stat only to have it lower them instead. Sorry for being a bother, and thank you for any help.
  23. So. As it turns out, all I needed to do to gain an edge was teach my Serperior Nature Power. In the dark, it turns into Discharge, and that takes away the dark. From then on, it was a matter of just outlasting him most times after dropping toxic on the pokes that could take it. *does a happy dance* Ah, but thank you for the advice anyways~!
  24. I'm doing the aqua/magma missions, and I'm at the part where you Raid Magma's base. Only thing is... I have no sweet clue where the magma base is. I've heard something about it being in one of those little alleyways, only the Aqua base is the only alleyway hideout thing in all of Lapis - where I figure it must be since the gangs are tormenting LAPIS. And the only Magma I can find is that one guy that tells you to shoo. ...Help? EDIT; Nevermind. Apparently it's outside the ward. Whoops.
  25. Alright, so... I'm at Shade right now, and getting utterly annihalated every time I fight him. Help would be awesome. Worth it to note though, that IV's, EV's, and Natures and that stuff goes right over my head so rambling that at me will mean very little. EDIT; Growlithe didn't have focus sash - mixed it up with something else. - Growlithe | 33 No Item Intimidate Docile - Flame Burst - Retaliate - Flame Wheel - Reversal Skuntank | 35 No Item Stench Mild - Slash - Acid Spray - Flamethrower - Toxic Loudred | 35 No Item Soundproof Rash - Stomp - Echoed Voice - Bite - Screech Lumineon | 37 No Item Water Veil Mild - Gust - Water Pulse - Attract - Rain Dance Serperior | 36 No Item Contrary Bold - Tackle - Leaf Blade - Leaf Storm - Leech Seed Kricketune | 37 No Item Technician Careful - Cut - Slash - X Scizzor - Fury Cutter
