  1. Wind elementals. Or spirits. It didn't matter. That made things many times harder. Matthew knew what he had to do first, though. They shared her battle experience, but did they share her mental fortitude? "I thought you said you wanted to make things even," Matthew started, giving the woman the biggest shit-eating grin he could. "Instead it seems you've just given us an advantage. What could two stiff winds ever do to us? Blow my hair or rustle my clothing?" He gave a hearty laughter at that thought, slowly drawing his sword. "Why, in fact, I'm almost offended. These two can match up to us?" Matthew shrugged. "I guess so. How about this, then; I'll fight you myself, Ashford." Matthew stared the woman down, his expression growing fierce "And each of my companions will take down your little puppets. If you can get me to admit defeat before Zagi and Debronee defeat your phantoms, you win. If you can't, we do." This was a risky move, bordering on idiocy. He knew he couldn't match the woman, but his expertise was staying alive, and one thing he knew for a fact from this fight so far is that in terms of reflexes not even the paladin matched him; All he had to do was dodge. Attacking wouldn't matter, and just waste energy. If he could stall until the phantoms were defeated, he could win. How they'd go about defeating them, however, is a different matter entirely.
  2. Since Jory hasn't posted yet, I'll postpone the update to wednesday, and we'll continue normally then if he hasn't posted.
  3. Oh, wait, these don't. First, I'd like to announce the winner of the Goomy tour: No one! Hold your applause. You've heard me. Since first, second and third place all refused the prize, (thus proving that no one loves goomy) no one won Goomy. Ah well. So, we're moving onto the next Pokémon: Gible! And I figure, since Goomy is just laying around the place anyway, why not give that guy away to whoever wins this one as well? Hold on. I'm getting new information. Hm. It seems Amethyst left the box were we keep all the rare candies next to the cage where we keep all the unavaiable pokémon again, and the dragons ate it all. Ah well. Adjustments. Like I said before, whoever wins this tourney, coming September 6th, will gain BOTH Garchomp and Goodra, both at the same level as the highest pokémon in your save file! In honor of this, the theme of the next tourney will be: Dragon Doubles! The rules are as follows: 0 -> Obviously, all teams must be dragon monotypes. 1 -> The banlist for dragon monotypes applies. 2 -> The banlist for doubles applies. 3 -> No uber pokémon allowed 4 -> Your team MUST have EITHER Goodra or Garchomp in it's composition, or you are disqualified. 5 -> You are allowed to use multiple teams, but all must follow the above rules. 6 -> As suggested, Mega Altaria is banned. I hope to see you there! Now to get that goddamn box out of a cage of highly leveled pseudos... Good thing I have a team for that sort of thing now.
  4. Tourney starts in five minutes! Last call!

  7. I'm sorry if that's how it came across, but it wasn't the case at all. First, only three people were going to join the team. There wasn't going to be an implementation taskforce. I had no intention of having anyone but me sholder the brunt of that work due to it's considerably higher complexity. It was the fact that two people with experience applied that that was even considered, hence why I said it was a no-brainer. Even then, because of that and the number of applications, since I didn't want anyone to feel left out, I opted to increase the number of people getting recruited from three to five so I could include them both and still grab the others for the taskforce. Lastly, while I won't detail each member interview for their privacy sake, there were others with experience who were not chosen in favor of others. This said, I'll state that I don't feel I was misleading at all. I said several times during the thread that experience //was preferred// but wasn't //mandatory//. It meant what it meant; Experience wasn't a requirement to apply, but if someone with good experience showed up, of course they'd have an advantage.
  8. Well, this has been a long two-weeks selection process. Or... It should've been. After announcing the new development team this wednesday, I've gotten a staggering thirty five applications to join the team which was far, far above any of my expectations. Because of the huge influx of people, we increased the team size, and even then, the slots filled up faster than I imagined. We carefully examined each submission, but the more we investigated, these individuals became more and more apparent as the best choices at this moment in time. So without further delay, I'll like to introduce to you all the four members that will join the development team: Yako, Zenko, Reiko and Tenko! Nah, I'm kidding. (Though i really really wish I wasn't) Here are the //five// people who will be joining the development team: Congratulations to StarryD and LittleLewis, who will be joining the Factory! This choice was really a no-brainer for me, since together they have over five years of experience in development already (although at an academical level) making them ideal for the Factory. StarryD is the creator behind Pokémon Redemption, so maybe some of you have already seen what he can do. Little Lewis is a new face around the forums, but he's been playing Reborn since 12.1, so he's hardly new to the game. WIth his entrance to the team, Lewis is bound to become more active around the forums as well, so pay attention to them! Congratulations to Zumi, Mumpelfink and DashingStorm for joining Quality Control! DashingStorm was also an easy call, with already helping in the bug forums anyway. While his original duties remain, now he'll also be fixing the bugs in the code, not just in your save files. Zumi was of great assitance to Jan for Pokémon Rejuvenation, and so the opportunity to grab her as a volunteer was one I wasn't going to pass on. Lastly, it was down to Commander, Mumpelfink and AuthorReborn for the last spot. We had a dynamic interview with the group and the solutions came down to the wire, but ultimately we decided Mumpelfink was the most fitting choice for this moment. This doesn't mean those who weren't chosen didn't deserve it or that they weren't good enough. Because of the amount of applications, we had to take factors in consideration that went beyond the scope of the interviews themselves, like seeing what this person's done elsewhere around the forum, how they've helped, for how long they've been here, as well as how well they got along with other members of the team of ourselves. That said, I was //humbled// by the incredible amount of people who applied. Seriously, guys. It was amazing to see all that interest and it made me even more motivated to continue pursuing not just reborn, but game development as well. I hope that, one day, all of you can follow in the footsteps of this path you've shown interest in threading. And when you do, I'll be there to help you. Because of this, I've decided to create the Lecture Hall, which will be a place for sharing knowledge and helping others learn what they'll be interested in, although that will be a thread of it's own which I'll make later. For now, I'd like to open a space for all five members of the team to introduce themselves. We're all in this for the long run, and I promise you this: Every single one of these people will be giving their utmost to bring you the best gaming experience Reborn can provide. Thank you, ~Pokémon Reborn Development Team
  9. [20:00:18] Amethyst: I acknowledge it's not bad, but it doesn't especially interest me. [20:01:59] Kurotsune: Your face [20:02:03] Kurotsune: doesn't especially interest me [20:02:12] Amethyst: That's fine. [20:02:18] Kurotsune: yeah [20:02:20] Kurotsune: you know what isn't [20:03:38] Amethyst: the current worsening racial tension in most major us cities between the african american population and the increasingly or increasingly apparently violent police force? [20:04:20] Kurotsune: nope [20:04:21] Kurotsune: your face Just me being mean to Amethyst. Nothing unusual here.
  10. Kindly reminder to y'all that the tour's this sunday
  11. Yes. The questionnaires have been sent. Respond to them as soon as possible! If you still haven't applied yet, you have until friday to do so. That said, if there are no new applications before all current applicants finish their questionnaires, the application period will be over!
  12. Mithra will be updated this weekend. As you may be aware, I'm fairly busy.
  13. There arent any pre-requisites other than availability, which is a given, and the willingness to go through with it. As mentioned in the post, experience helps, but isn't mandatory.
  14. Open the floodgates!

  15. TL;DR I had to write the whole goddamn explanation anyway because Amethyst is a special snowflake who can't go a minute without her beauty sleep(s)
  16. Update: Due to the amount of applicants, I've decided to change the process. We will now separate the development team into two parts: Implementation (AKA the factory) and Testing/Bugfixing (AKA quality control). Because of this, the number of available slots has increased. I will still manage the entire development team, but the groups will each have a leader of their own. I will personally head the factory until such a time where one of the people who join can take over or the two become self-sufficient. There'll be two slots for this group. Jericho will head quality control. There will be two to three slots on this group, depending on who and how many people we choose. Unfortunately, applicants cannot choose the position they'll fulfill. We'll determine who we'd like to offer each position, and we'll take it from there. All applications have been read and soon, a questionnaire will be sent to all applicants to be answered. Based on these responses, we will determine who will join each group, and we will announce the results then. As an addendum, because of the added interest, there'll be a new room in showdown called the Lecture Hall. Whenever I'm there, I'll be willing to help, give and rate assignments, and provide free basic training and feedback on programming, Ruby, game development or whatever the hell you feel like asking. Others may eventually join as well. ----- Well, to follow-up on Amethyst's rather verbose announcement of an announcement to announce an announcement (there's a mouthful) I'll be taking a more... Open approach to reborn development. So, let me tell you guys about how reborn development has worked so far, how it has affected my personal life and how I intend for it to work in the future. I joined the Reborn development team circa January. In fact, it was near the end of December, near Christmas, since I had a two-week paid leave. Ever since day 1, I've been single-handedly implementing almost everything that goes into the game. Nearly every move, item, ability, system or alterations that have happened in reborn in the last six months have either been done by me personally, or with my overseeing. So in that sense, you could say me taking this position is more of a formality than an actual increase on my responsibilities. For the most part, things will remain the same. I will remain doing most of the implementations (like the online system and it's safeguards, refinements to the save system, the new weather 2.0 system) by myself, however, when it comes to the smaller implementations like fixing bugs, I simply don't have enough time. To give you some insight in how my life has been since joining reborn - I've dedicated two paid leaves, for a total of an entire month, solely to Reborn's development. Other than that, up until very recently I also dedicated every single day of the week after work, and the whole weekends. You may have noticed that since the status thread percentages have started, Scripting almost always takes a huge lead and finishes way earlier than any other parts of the game. That's basically been all me, directly or indirectly. Recently, however, I haven't been able to do anything in terms of development, as my schedule has gotten significantly more bloated. As my personal and professional lives are becoming busier, the amount of time I can dedicate to reborn has diminished significantly, making it impossible for me to do both new mechanic implementations and bug-fixing by myself. Amethyst has aided me with this in the past, and so has Jericho to great extent, him becoming the first person I've actually taken in to teach how to do minor implementations. The reality is, however, that the current workload cannot be entrusted to anyone else, and current system implementations (like the online system) are far too complex for me to pass on. Because of this, I've decided to open the doors of the development team for anyone who's interested in learning the ins and outs of how RPG Maker and Essential's scripts work. I need those who are interested to contact me as soon as possible, ideally listing previous programming experience, however none is necessary. Ideally, I'd like to add two to three people to the team, as that'd be a number I can manage more easily. The purpose of this team is to create a task force for fixing all the current bugs in Reborn, and eventually handling minor and major implementations as they grow in experience. The intention here is to train those interested in game development and coding in general in the basics of programming etiquette, programming logic, how to identify and fix issues within code, and all that other cool stuff I'm sure none all of you are interested in. Swell. To sum everything up: I no longer have the time to do all things by myself without growing (considerably more) insane. Because of this, I'll be training two or three more people alongside Jericho in scripting, with the intent of creating a reliable bugfixing team. I hope I can count on all of you, as always, for your understanding and support. Thank you. Details: Experience: None, but every bit helps. Availability: 10 weekly hours minimum Position: Minor and major bugfixing; May grow into implementation. Training period: Roughly 1 month, during which trainees are expected to read one or more books on ruby development and go through a few online training courses. May be adjusted depending on talent, aptitude, or experience. Proper SVN etiquette and guidelines to it's usage will also occur during this time. Other requirements: Have an account on either skype or showdown to facilitate communication. Note: If you messaged me and I haven't replied, that means I'm just waiting to do so; I won't forget anyone, and I'll make sure to interview each person individually before I decide on all spots on the team. Also note: It's IMPERATIVE that you send me a private message on the forums if you're interested. Not in this thread, not in showdown, on the forums. This is because we're currently at over 10 applicants and when I'm going through the list I'm bound to miss people who haven't PMed me.
  17. I literally had to wait four hours For her to post one freaking paragraph and make one wordpun. Forget the announcement, I quit.
  18. Pyon is too handsome for this world. Meanwhile, for those wondering, their music is pretty damn good. Listen up!
  19. I can't attest on the laptop overall issues, but I can give some insight regards to that. I was halfway through writing this before I realized it was turning into a dissertation of how computer processing has evolved in the last 11 years, so I'll try the short version instead. RPG Maker is like a spoiled child. If you want it to do anything, it asks for your entire processor to be avaiable for it in turn. If it isn't, it starts whining and won't give you anything at all until it is. You'll find a lot of games tend to follow this general rule, since (most of the time, specially on lower-end laptops) they need as much memory as they can get. To that extent, I'd suggest trying to always play with your computer connected to a charger if at all possible. That guarantees RPG Maker XP stays well-fed and non-whiny and you will have the minimum amount of issues related to processing hiccups - Less corrupted saves, less lag, less script hangs.
  20. Leonis, Leon, Gizmo You can hear an exasperated sigh escape Eugene's lips. Marianne shakes her head slightly. Alice non-chalantly shrugs her shoulder, staring at the General and waiting for his reaction. This is a man accostumed to command, and while his eyes widen the slightest at the complete lack of it he was offered, the releases a small chuckle instead, cutting the tension formed in the room. "Yes, I'm not surprised your curiosity overwhelmed your manners. But from now on, you will call me ser as it is proper." The word is emphasized. "And you will ask no questions or give any answers until I give you permission to do so." He doesn't wait for acknowledgement, simply motioning for Raphael to approach instead. "Raphael will accompany you to the border, in disguise. He will keep the package with himself at all times. When you reach the border, you will meet up with the other two guild representatives. One of them will keep the package on themselves. You are not to question it's contents or attempt to see what's inside. If you do, you will immediately be considered traitors to the crown, and put to death on the spot." With this, Michael nods at Raphael and returns to seat himself next to the king. "I believe that, before we begin, it's important we make it clear to you were you stand. Your responses to the High General seem to reveal you think you're something special, that we should be glad you're helping us. We didn't ask the guild masters to suggest geniuses or anyone special. You're here because you're not special. You are all beginners at your respective guilds, and you command no power or respect of your own. To call you mediocre would be the greatest compliment. But understand this: I will not tolerate insolence, nor will I tolerate impudence. You will obey, and you will do so quietly and unquestioningly. Or mission is simple. I will accompany you to the borders of the Mithran realm in disguise, during with time you will refer to me as simply Allen. We will go to the border city of Mirthwood, where we will meet our Fae escorts in the Giant's Boot inn. That's when we part ways - The package will be with the Fae from that point on. You will however still accompany them to Emperor Zane, as it is imperative that a representative of Mithra is there when the package is delivered. If any of you are the least intelligent, you're questioning why you are even here. Why you are needed. It's simple. It's less suspicious if we move under the guise of a group of beginners on a training pilgrimage. To maintain this disguise, you will take assignments in the elven cities in your Guild's respective message boards. This part I'm certainly sure I needn't explain to you." "That's all you need to know for now. I will meet you in the morning, in my disguise. Converge at the city gates, and be ready to move early in the morning. Manage to not screw this up, and you'll all gain a boom more than worth your time. Dismissed." With a wave of his hand, Raphael sends you away - Physically. The rooms where the others are drains away like the other room had before, the sound of them discussing among themselves slowly turning into an unintelligible buzz and then nothing. Soon you're back to the room you were before, completely alone except for each other. You have a day to prepare. Seyr, Jewel Zane smiles warmly, wrinkles forming at the sides of his eyes to confirm it's sincerity. "Thank you, my friends." the Emperor begins. "I shan't take too much of thy time. Thy mission is simple: You will move to the town of Mirthwood, and you will receive a package from a human Knight. Once you do this, you will have to accompany some of these humans back in my kingdom, stopping by each village in the way and assisting the townsfolk. I understand this sounds unnecessary, but trust me. This has been in planning for longer than you know; It's imperative that you succeed." Zane waves, as if to dismiss you, but catches himself. "I've nearly forgotten." The fae goes somber as he continues "I've felt... Odd things happening in the cycle. Some fae seem to have been changed, somehow. Others left the cycle, but in their last moments I felt... Fear. That shouldn't be possible in a willing death. Not that kind of fear. Be careful, my friends. I want you to return to me as you are, and nothing but." With another smile, Zane waves you off, and the walls seemingly reconstruct themselves around you - Seyr would find himself far too cramped if he lacked the insight to transform when the magic started to dissipate. Soon enough, the two of you are left in the same room you were before, completely alone. Well, Zane was clear. Time is of the essence.
  21. TL;DR forum ate my long-ass post and I'm only doing that tomorrow now Here's a small taste of what I still had copied: As you can see, not a lot. And so glorious frustration is ensuing. So tomorrow, my darlings, as soon as I wake up, this I promise. I shan't delay you much further.
  22. Coming in summer 2016 Pokémon Reborn Black Fox version featuring Kurotsune as every pokémon, NPC, Gym Leader, Team meteor member and player character. Also the only starter will be budew
