  1. Didn't the last gym leader mention how the next badge won't raise the cap? So I'll probably let my mons remain at the same level as of right now.
  2. Reborn wasn't suppose to have such a broad audience and it was mostly an in-community project when it began, so the edginess wasn't a big concern back then.
  3. IIRC, Aelita remarks that she never knew Carotos was a volcano, and the hints during the Carotos storyline implies that that mountain was a regular mountain until Xen ultimately turned it into their volcano-slash-base with Volcanion's power.
  4. In Blaine's defense, he is a Fire-type specialist though.
  5. I don't think so. Aelita's technically a rival while Mosely seemed to be a one-shot character. Especially since she's in the orphanage right now.
  6. Oh my God, Polaris. You can't just ask someone why they're black.
  7. In Reborn, probably Skuntank. It's stats are decent while at the same time he only has one weakness and can learn Toxic early while being obtainable before the first gym. Also Gourgest because of the huge bulk for being automatically super-sized. In Rejuvenation it was Xatu. It's pretty much a Psychic/Flying type that you can get early on even before the second Gym that also has Magic Bounce for an ordinary ability in these games. IMO, he's far too undervalued.
  8. This brings another question in mind... How the heck did Radomus get the keys in the first place?
  9. My guess it's because of the lack of content in the 100+ areas. By the time your mons reach level 100 they're already fully evolved and know the best moves available in a game, so aside from gaining stats there's no major change for a mon when they level up. If a dev would bother to add 100+ mons and moves then this wouldn't really be an issue.

Eh, you just got unlucky. I'm pretty sure that Ame hasn't messed around with the game's pRNG... well, at least mostly sure.
  11. 4. Keep a full party of 6 A full party of 6, at a decent level, will help you out tremendously, even at the first gym. In the canon games, 2 or 3 was plenty. That won't work for Reborn. -Spark95 Something more to add is that at later levels it's also wise to keep some extra mons in your PC. Sometimes you'll find out that one of your mons are completely useless against a specific gym because of type and moveset match-ups so in this event it's generally better to swap in the reserve.
  12. So according to the leader line-up, Titania has a Scizor and In-game!Titania was in a female same-sex relationship with In-game!Amaria... This really couldn't have been accidental, could it?

  13. I meant canon-wise. Since he has already beaten several gym leaders as of the end of EP. 13 then it's highly probable that his battling ability rivals those of Taka or ZEL, or even surpasses them.
  14. Taka will most likely be horrified at Solaris' actions, considering how he's the most ethical high-ranking member of the organization we have seen so far. For ZEL, considering that we have an individual with three different personalities in our case I'd say that they will likely have varying reactions, though most likely neutral putting past events in mind. I'd say that it's still to early for Taka to rebel against his father, and that will probably happen some time around end-game. Though this is Reborn, so everything's possible. At the moment Fern's a complete wild card in Team Meteor. Since Fern is a strong trainer, then chances are that he'll easily rise upon the ranks of Team Meteor. But personally I think that he may end up somewhere above Aster, possibly falling around close to ZEL.
  15. While LoL uses a system involving critical hit, Riot has been minimizing it's influence ever since the game's release. For example, pre-rework Sion's passive and Gangplank's ult were very RNG reliant, but now they were modified and have no randomness at all. Also the critical hit algorithm in LoL is not perfectly random. There are checks and balances to prevent issues such as a champion getting extremely lucky or unlucky with the RNG, so you will not see things like a champion with a single-digit crit percent critically hitting more than once in a row, which would likely mean a lane won from the start purely out of RNG. The game still has some randomness, but it's a very much a non-issue, to the point that bad RNG almost never decides matches, unlike in competitive battling where a missed Fire Blast can potentially decide a match. For your second point, I meant as in a game in whether the win or lose conditions, not just anywhere in game itself, is dependent on RNG. For example, while BoI has RNG in generating the map layout, the game-play itself is still entirely skill-based. If a projectile connects to an object, it will always count for the same amount of damage regardless of the circumstances, thus there is no interference of randomness in the game's outcome of win or loss. As you have said, RNG does offer fun as it can really shake a game up, the issue comes as when RNG begins to overtake player skill in determining whether the player wins or loses. Winning a game based on RNG provides no sense of self-fulfillment, while losing a game based on RNG provides frustration. Summarizing it, there is good RNG, which can be used to reduce repetitiveness in a game and make it more entertaining, and bad RNG, which turns the game into a crap-shoot and may just give out frustration and no sense of self-fulfillment. Sorry if I sounded too ambiguous and generalizing on the above post, though.
  16. Which is why Ame is completely revamping that fight. Nowadays it's almost universally agreed that a game that is too dependent on its pseudo-random number generator is considered to be shoddily designed, and some games aiming for maximum competitiveness such as League of Legends completely eschew its usage.
  17. The issue about RNG-based mechanics is that adding a little of it doesn't really make much of a problem, like how Charlotte's field added that annoying steam side-effect. The issue happens when the RNG becomes what completely decides the game and makes your choices secondary to luck. Charlotte's field needed the player to use water moves to trigger, and even then it wasn't that problematic as unless your were spamming water-type moves, the field would take no effect. Samson's gym gets a little more annoying, but it's only for certain moves and according to Ame that's as far as she'll go when it comes to RNG. Adding a little randomness is fun, but when the game begins to be decided by die rolls rather than tactics is when the amount of RNG in a game should be cut back.
  18. Evasion's also frustrating and generally considered to be un-competitive due to being RNG-based and thus not used and often banned in competitive circles. Since Reborn attempts to create a Pokemon game with a competitive-like atmosphere, putting excessive evasion as a gimmick would likely be a no-no.
  19. When the post-game's completed, chances are all of them will be available. Though Ame has stated that she will not allow players to catch any of them until they beat the E4.
  20. Vero and Alice really have the Reborn vibe going on, with their dark-ish clothes and such. Funny thing is that according to the game's prologue they aren't natives to the region per-se, they just came in dressed appropriately.
  21. Adrienn or Hardy confirmed. :^) EDIT: Clarification, the :^) means not to take the post in complete seriousness. Apologies for the misunderstanding.
  22. My guess is that she's using the singular them to conceal the gym leader's identity. If she said him or xem then it'd be pretty obvious who would be the next gym leader, considering that there is only one male and one non-binary leader left.
  23. That's somewhat what I meant. Neither protagonist has a strong slant to either appearance, though Decibel's clothing can give xyr appearance a more masculine or feminine look depending on how you look at xem. But yeah, Ari is meant to be a parallel to Kuro and Lucia while Decibel is meant to be a parallel to Vero and Alice.
  24. It's actually the small things that make both of them seem androgynous, really. Decibel has a more male-ish look until you actually notice that xyr long hair is pushed to the side, then xe starts to look more androgynous. Meanwhile Ari's hair makes xe look girly until you take a look at xyr body, which has a very neutral look.
  25. Hmm, I have a theory on Titania. So far we know two things about her. Firstly we know that she has potential connections, whether friendly or antagonistic, with Team Meteor from their encounter at Aventurine Woods. Second, Titania seems to be going to great lengths to keep Amaria safe and her psyche intact, including keeping a romantic ruse with her for who knows how long, all to keep her from committing self-harm. With how Team Meteor seems to promise its members a whole new world, kind of like what Cyrus was doing, it's not far-fetched to believe that Titania in her desperation will join Team Meteor to save Amaria from herself. It's entirely possible that Titania is attempting to appeal to Team Meteor to fix the situation, that admittedly is part of the protagonist's fault. Personally, I don't believe that the traitor is Aya. She doesn't really have any reason to betray and join with Team Meteor. Well, there is getting back at Cain, but I don't think she'll go to this extreme for revenge. Hardy's also a good suspect, but he's aside from saving Aya, he doesn't really have any other strong motivations. Radomus is a special case, since at the moment his motivations remain hidden, and we really don't know whether he has his own self-interests in the keystones or he's just interested in stopped Team Meteor. Though the uniform theory is kind of weak, since it's been established that Radomus is a master of disguises, thus it's not surprising that he has the uniform of the region's most infamous terrorist organization.
