Goddamit! why this have to happen now that I'm away? Also why don't we use our OU tier (aka sm OU without lele, gross, phero and greninja) to make people more interested in our own way of tiering?

It can't have Hurricane with Heat Wave, Heat Wave + Boomburst is still legal. And there is also the option of the weakest Air Slash
-
If you were struggling against steel monotypes with dual birds, why you didn't change to specs Swellow with Heat Wave for your second special attacker? But I prefer Pyroar tbh since it is more reliable against steels. Since you have dual Scarf how about you try defensive Staraptor with Defog? Your team is very weak to hazzards... Something like this: Staraptor @ Leftovers Ability: Intimidate EVs: 252 HP / 96 Def / 160 Spe Impish Nature - Defog - Roost - Brave Bird - U-turn

I would make Submission 100 power, 100 accuracy with 1/3rd recoil and give it to Emboar. I would give Metal Burst the same negative priority with Counter/Mirror Coat. Desiny Bond's and Protect's fail chance should stack, so you can't spam them with Mega Gengar that has trapped its opponent. Autotomize should halve your weight instead of only losing 100kg f*ck offensive physical Celesteela. Bullet Punch should be considered a bullet move and be blocked by Bulletproof. Drill Run with 100% accuracy. Jump Kick's recoil reduced to 1/3rd. King's Shield should reduce attack only by 1 stage and only be usable by Aegislash. Meteor Mash should return to its previous base power of 100 but only with a 10% chance to boost attack. Boost Petal Blizzrad's power to 100, making an EQ clone. Rapid Spin should remove hazzards even if the user dies from Rocky Helmet/LO recoil. Rock Blast should have 100% accuracy. Sucker Punch should hit even if the opponent moved 1st and used an attacking move. Belch should be used even if the user has switched out after eating a berry. I would make Brutal Swing to not get nerfed in Doubles/Triples by the spread move nerf damage (so it will hit each opponent as a 60 base power). Fire Spin and Whirlpool should be 100% accurate like Infestation. And last Freeze Shock, Ice Burn and Sky Attack all should have 100% accuracy.

[Semi-UPDATED S3] Redemption Viability Ranking
pyrromanis replied to pyrromanis's topic in Pokémon Fan Club
I'm pretty sure that I have forget to add some pokemon but the pokemon that are missing are mostly unviable. As I saied in the op this is not a list of how viable a pokemon is for a leader's monotype but only for challengers. Glaceon and Typhlosion aren't bad pokemon, they are just outclassed at what they do from other pokemon of their type! Also while checking I noticed I forgot to remove the marks from Typhlosion (and Noivern ) that were there to debate if it is was worth to go up. Oooooops, I'll fix it immidiately If anyone beleives that a pokemon deserves more I suggest to make a few points why they should be better rather than just say it should be higher. It helps more that way to categorize them and understand why their more viable from other mons when I am (and other challengers) make a team. -
[Semi-UPDATED S3] Redemption Viability Ranking
pyrromanis replied to pyrromanis's topic in Pokémon Fan Club
Alolatales was originaly an A+ but Pyrrhon made some very good points why it should be A, since he has used it a lot. I had (Mega) Sableye marked to go up but I didn't get any feedback if it should get promoted so it stayed there. I don't see Primarina deserving more due to lack of speed and subpar defence but it's debatable. Alolawak is kind of too item dependant and that's why I didn't put it higher. Rotom-W, Clefable and Togekiss are solid mon that can find a place in lot of teams and can fill in a lot of holes due to how varsatile they are with various items. I can see that Rose is a bit too high but I don't think there is a better offensive Spiker outside of Greninja, so I put it higher cause it's the 2nd best in that role. -
Welcome to Redemption's Viability Rankings Topic. In this thread we will be ranking the viabilty of pokemon for challengers (this is not how viable a pokemon is for a leader's monotype). The ranking has been done based on how good a pokemon is both singles and multi battles, its movepool and its ability to utilize it in only 4 moves throughout the league, how easy it is to fit in a team, if it is outclassed by another pokemon in the same role or the same typing and ofc its stats! Have in mind that the following list is mostly my opinions so far with the help of a handfull of people that I want to thank them a lot for their feedback. So a big THANK YOU with no particular order to: @Azeria @The Caveman @Bazaro @TheDW66 @Anstane @Shinyrio @Guzam @Quinn @Hycrox Of course this list is not going to stay the same since I'm expecting more feedback from all of you! Fell free to make any points why a mon should go up or down cause for sure there are going to be a lot of mons that were underestimated or overestimated. S rank A+ rank A rank A- rank B+ rank B rank B- rank C+ rank C rank C- rank

-I don't know how to feel about Metagross. From one hand it gets boosted a lot by Lele's Psychic Terrain but the overlapping ghost weakness can hurt you if you bring them both. In addition, Bullet Punch is useless under Psychic Terrain so it gets hindered by Lele too! It also apreciates Fini's Misty Surge blocking potential burns or paralysis. Also try to experiment a bit with the ev spread to outspeed certain mons or bulk certain attacks. -The Tapu fini is solid! Just replace Scald with Muddy Water. It hits both opponents, it can drop their accuracy and your own field doesn't nerf it unlike Scald. -Z crystal Lele is so strong, but personally I wouldn't use it with all these Alola Muks running around and potentially waste your Z move. Tectonic Rage chomp is imo better since it gives you a single target ground move as opposing to a spread Eq with nerf damage (that can also be even more nerfed by Grassy Terrain). But these are personal preferences so go ahead and use it if you like it. I would try Taunt over Reflect for annoying Trick Room teams, since your team is kinda fast and has a bad matchup against them. -Arcanine is solid, nothing more should be said. -I already commented how I prefer Garchomp as a better Z crystal holder, but scarf set also gets the job done. -I really like the idea of Adrenaline Orb Milotic! Although Scald + Ice is walled by other bulky Waters like Tapu Fini. I would experiment with various Hidden Power over Recover, mostly HP Grass or HP Electric. Grass gets boosted by opposing Bulu's Grassy Terrain, hits other water types and is mainly there for Gastrodon which can be a real pain against your team since it can draw all water moves and wall a good portion of your team. HP Electric on the other hand let's you hit more pokemons like Peliper and Araquanid, gets boosted by opposing Koko's Electric Terrain but also can it can be countered more easily with Lightingrod Alola-Marowak. If I had to make a change it would be to swap Metagross with AV Hariyama! Hariyama gives you Fake Out support that your team lacks, a strong fighting STAB for the most annoying mon in the format, Porygon 2 and also gives you a very slow mon to counter TR teams

No ban to Arena Trap? Based on how close the suspect test was and the feedback most players gave, Arena Trap is probably going to be suspect tested next...

Imo we shouldn't be discussing Oliver's difficulty at moment. While yes, his options can be very strong, we all know he might just come in the battle with Swagraptor and 5 Bug/Flyings if he wanted! Let's see first what he opts to choose for his team and then discuss for potential balance of his options...

This League is as easy as @Azeria getting DEEZ NUTS On a more serious tone. The League is as difficult as it should be! It is supposed to be challenging enough to force you use more advanced strategies than usualy but also make it easy to move forward without getting stuck in a specific bracket/leader. I can understand though why people might find the League difficult or impossible to beat and there's only one reason for it: No adaptation at all! Unlike season 1 where leaders could use whatever the hell they wanted to pretty much counter any challenger if they wished, in season 2 leaders tend to use only one strategy for each format (singles, doubles, triples). And the good thing is, EVERYONE KNOWS THEIR STRATEGY! It's not something that is kept in secret and you learn only after you get stomped by a leader's strategy. There are a bunch of replays to see what leaders use, other challengers can help you learn them or even leaders themselves straight up say what sets they use! So while leaders are supposed to have the upper hand cause they know your team is pretty much balanced out! What people should learn from this league is to adapt to these strategies. From the first week already people realised how good Safety Goggles and Iron Balls are good against Olivia and Mira respectively. That's what you need to do pretty much in all challenges, adapt to a playstyle and use new tactics. And this what makes Redemption hard, it "forces" you to play in way you are not used to or you don't like. But riding a wave instead of going against it can potentialy be way more fun than you would though!!! I can't describe the joy I had whenever I was preparing my team each time I was facing a new leader! "How can I make my slow Primarina outspeed a Mega Manectric?" "Is a choice item better against this type" "Should I use this gimmicky strategy and watch everyone's reaction :P" I don't know about anyone else, but I am getting really happy whenever I manage to actual pull the strategy I was preparing in my mind! It makes me feel like "maybe I'm not that bad as I though". And while you might say that you are not that of a competitive player but you are playing more casualy, it is still fine! It's not always about winning is also about having fun! And while personally I like to take my battles more seriously cause that's what gives me fun, I have seen dozens of people having fun by interacting with the leaders. Mocking them, cheering them, laughing at their bad/good plays and their nicknames and their accent are all enough good reasons even for casual players to keep getting involved in the League. In conclusion, Redemption is difficult but not in a level to get frustrated and complain constantly. It's difficult enough to push you become better at battling and thinking! And if you are not searching for anything of those there are dozens of reasons to still hang around and have fun!!! I might have drifted away from the original subject, but I wanted to give my full thoughts about the league since in my opinion everything the staff members have created, from the rules to organizing the whole League, are related to each other and affects the whole experience of the challengers. May the hax be with you challengers and go kick some leader's *ss!!!
-
1st of all you have Tailwind so potentially it can outspeed almost everything it wants. Secondly, base 80 speed is not slow at all. It outspeeds a lot of mons, especially when many leaders tend to use mostly bulkier teams rather than Hyper Offence. Last you can always adapt your EVs in any way you like between battles, you don't have to use the same spread.
-
The team looks pretty solid! The only thing I would change is Dazzling Gleam on Togekiss with Air Slash. Gotta get that hax
-
Focus Blast lets Zam also hit steel types, mainly special defencive Heatran. And Dazzling Gleam is also needed mainly for Mega-Sableye since it kinda walls everything outside of Garde
-
New avi until I start challenging the Redemption league again!
All copyrights for this crisp meme belong to @TheDW66 :] -
But can I still ask the hot leaders out for a date?
-
Power Up Punch is kinda useless on Bisharp when it gets Swords Dance! The damage is too low to even consider it worth. Also you can also add Wide Guard on Conk and Spore on Amoonguss over Clear Smog. Team looks solid, but I'm not a fan of only 1 TR setter but that's just me...
-
Welcome to Reborn! Since you are a competitve player I suggest you to pop up on Reborns Showdown server to say hi and might get a few battles with some of us (don't expect anyone good at battling here, we are mostly filthy memers that battle for the luls )
-
Anyone else that might have Monotypes that are usable for redemption feel free to post the teams and I'll add them in the OP! @Fumble even though I didn't participate in S1 that much, I know most of these strats. Thing is, as yourself said, are more for practice rather than emulate the real leader fights! I'd probably make more teams after the next week so there will be more variety for each type and probably add some of the most well known strats :]
-
Since I needed something to distract myself from studying, I spend my afternoon making monotype teams so people can test with their friends! Single Battles Double Battles Triple Battles
-
Team looks great but I find the Dark Pulse on Ninetales an unnecessary coverage. You can choose either a suport move like Confuse Ray or Disable, either a move for longevity like Pain Split or Protect, or either another attacking move like single target fire STAB or Foul Play for strong physical attacker (last also keeps the dark coverage if you realy want it)
-
With a 1st glance, outside of P2's Thunderbolt the whole team is walled by Mantine! I'd say that 3 TR setters is too much and you usualy need a fast/semi-fast pokemon that can work outside of TR whenever you can't set it or your setters are fainted. I'd say try to replace Slowbro with a set up sweeper like DD Gyara, DD Gator or Crawdaunt (either SD or DD). I chose these 3 cause they still give you the water typing for defensive and offensive purposes and they can sweep teams outside of TR with 1 set up! Crawdaunt can even work in TR if you want
-
I made some changes in the team I posted previous. If my trainer card is already made, then don't bother change it. I don't want to put more work on Sparky :/
