      fighting also works. granted I'm limited to the hitmons and Heracross. having a second bug type might not be too bad tho...

      When it comes to Fighting-types: Machamp isn't an option, Tyrogue is late-game, Heracross repeats Bug-type and Poliwrath repeats Water, not to mention Water Stones are also hard to come by in Johto. That leaves Primeape.
