  1. So. I thought it might be time to explain a certain opinion of mine. Mainly, the big reason why Water types are my least favorite.

We'll start it off easy: playstyle. Most water types commonly used and found rely on their bulk and stalling. Now who knows what playstyle I absolutely hate in any game? Exactly! Stalling. So that's a red flag infront of a bull (funny, cuz my zodiac is taurus). Secondly, design and origin. We get it, there are a fuckton of fish on earth. That doesn't mean we need a pokémon for each god damn species of fucking fish. And I'm not just talking about the obvious ones like goldeen, seaking and such. oh no, all fish based ones are offenders here. Each gen adds at least 2 or 3 many fish to the Pokémon world, and they have done so for every generation. but it took them 20 fucking years to think "hey, maybe a Wolf would be cool?" (I'm not counting Zoroark as a wolf btw, but even then it took them 5 gen to create a wolf based line while fish just overpopulate). Yes, that is salt talking but I hope you get my point. The worst offender of all is Seal. I don't even need to explain this one I hope.

And now to debunk something, there are Water types I really like. Azu, primarina, Gyarados, Milotic, empoleon and some more. but when there are just so many that are just so easy to hate (almost all of the fish based ones for example) it\s just greatly off balance.

Scald isn't that good though. lt's just that Bulky Waters stick around long enough that it's going to burn eventually and that's why they use it cause it gives them access to a defensive tool. 80 BP as opposed to the 90 of Surf etc is't really that big a deal to them to add the util of a Burn Chance. Scald is used way more than moves with low percentage chaces that's why ou see it goo off more and it's 100% a results based bias that people think it goes off more. lt doesn't simple as that. Scald has always been situational, it's jsut that a lot of water types fall under categories where they can afford giving up a slim margin of Base Power for the coinflip that has a HUGE impact if it manages to go off. But Scald is far from one of the best moves imo. l've lost plenty of games to relying on Scald burns. People act as if Scald perfect, lt really isn't. ~~keep in mind l'm probably the one person who thinks that Serene Grace is a shit ability.~~

and l mean this is all super duper opinion based. They might be easy for you to hate, but l'd not say that true for everyone. l like a lot of the fish mons personally. ((Bruxish is probs one of my fav mon from Sun/Moon)) and l'm sure there's plenty of folks that dig fish. Seel also isn't a fish so l really don't get why it's included in the section about generic fish mon... lt's also hardly that much of an offender when there's plenty just as straight played mons in Gen 1. Further, you can point to plenty of mons that are in every type other than maybe Ghost due to it's lower mon count ((but even then l'm sure there's some.)) that are quote on quote "generic" but not every thing can be a crazy unique shining sunshine rainbow.

Water as well is a rather large pool of mons as well and it's a bit unfair to boil it down to "they are all bulky/stally waters." yes that's a big Water type archetype, but it's hardly accurate with Water of all types to say it's largely one archetype and nothing else. Water is a hugely diverse type pool and probably has the largest breadth of mons that fit all kinds of roles.

Like, l'd like to point out none of the reasons you give are anything but personal bias. And that's fine! One won't like what they don't like and l'm not claimin' one cannot have an opinion. But, in the end it's all opinion and dislike based on personal preference than anything else.

As a note my least fav type is Electric because it seriously does have n overcentrifction of roles going on. lt's largely full of fast frail sweepers with rather limited coverage options. There exists exceptions and often they are good, but Electric feels more than any type to suffer from "well why use that mon when this mon is literally it but better?" there's been a lot more play with different ideas on Elec types recently at least though and that's nice. ((l just think that gameplay wise Electric suffers so many issues and mons struggle to find somewhere to be.))

That pains me tbh cause lighting, storms etc... are something l oft feel connection to as a thematic touchstone. ~~part of the reason l was mostly a rain player in the ol' weather wars.~~

Yes, water is differse, when looking at the Pokédex that is. but the second you get online you will not find much more than the bulky ones that you eventually just wanna punch in the face. Also, the reason I named seel (which was at the wrong section) is because that mon is so lazy that it actually makes me wonder what went on with them. "But it's a gen 1 mon so it can be excused for being a lazily designed mon." no it can't. Now for the thing that there are a lot of water types: that's another thing I absolutely hate: There are TOO MANY of them. just with water types alone you can almost populate all of Sinnoh but there are types that barely get any mons. And I get that some types are just more location exclusive and everything, but that doesn't mean that you can just fill all the god forsaken lakes with fish.

And for my scald experiences to explain why I can rant on and on about that one move: I always get burned turn one. doesn't matter who uses it and it doesn't matter who's the target. I always get burned turn one. And let alone the absurdity that water, the polar opisite of fire, gets the fire type status for 10% on a move while there's, I think, only one fire type move that gets the burn on 30% as well (lava plume. but again I may be wrong).

And even if it is personal bias, they are still my reasons for hating the type. If you disagree you disagree, nothing to be done.

"lt's gen 1 it can be excused.' That's 100% not what l said and you know it. Don't twist my words thank you. l was saying lazy mons aren't exclusive too water types espically in Gen 1. l shouldn't have to be explaining this but...

and further, your bad luck with Scald... doesn't really prove anything. l've missed literally 4 times in a row in the same match with Air Slash. Doesn't mean it always misses. l also highyl HlGHLY doubt that's remotely accurate and it happens literally every time. Scald is the most over exaggerated move l swear cause it simply doesn't burn anywhere near as much as people says it does.

Also Sacred Fire has 50% Burn Chance and Searing Shot also has 30% in addition to Lava Plume, both are more or less sigs though. But still most Fire moves have burn chance tacked on for free whereas it's opportunity cost on Scald ~~perhaps not huge opportunity cost but still is somewhat nonetheless.~~
