Log 1: The power of the mind
We are the weak. While others use power to fight for dominance, we, the weak humans, those without power or special traits, still survive. Being weak forces us to adapt, to learn. They are the strong, we are the strong minded.
The mind is our greatest asset. It enables us to learn, to live, and to thrive. A sharp claw is no match for a sharper intellect and cunning. Yet the mind does have its weakness: Fear. Fear lives in the heart of all, crippling those that would prosper and striking down those too weak to handle it. True strength comes not from the power one wields, but from how one faces the weakness of that power.
I am referred to in most circles simply as Fresh, and am heading to a land called Reborn to prove the mettle of the mind and to overcome the unknown, a fear rooted deep in the human psyche. I intend to prove the power by only using those with the power of the mind, and those well known for instilling fear.
The train I was on was destroyed, a bomb was placed within the station and made to explode as it pulled in. The manager, the white-haired one called Ame, was on the train explaining the region and the league to me. She likely would have continued had there been no issue. Miraculously, we both survived with only minor injuries. Others were not so lucky. I paid my respects to those who had lost their lives and then went to the Grand Hall, where all trainers start to prove themselves.
It was at the Grand Hall where I met Victoria. A very sweet girl also looking to take on the Reborn league. A basic Fire, Water, and Grass Pokemon from the six regions with Gym leagues of their own were presented to me. Most of them were unremarkable, some simply being cute while others were... shall we say, less than desirable. But there was one who stood out from all the others; a peculiar orange creature with tufts of red fur in its ears. What stood out was its interaction when I looked at it. All the other Pokemon there jumped when I examined them, likely hoping that I would take them out and onto my journey. But this one simply stared at me... studied me. There was a strong mind with this one. It was then belayed that this Pokemon was a young female Fennekin. Sensing its will, I quickly took her and shall henceforth be referring to her as Lilith.
As Victoria left with Ame to choose her own starter, a young man with a very unique hairstyle and mannerisms also came looking to register for the league, with his own starting Pokemon. He introduced himself as Cain, and eye contact creating the unspoken bond between trainers, we had a brief battle, Lilith versus his Nidoran. His Nidoran fought with the courage and savagery of most others. Lilith on the other hand, only confirmed my thoughts about her. She was very precise with her fire attacks, almost knowing exactly where to attack to hit. She was smart, there was no denying that.
Lilith made quick work of Cain's pokemon. I would have offered to heal it myself, but the Pokemon Center was in the building as well. As he got his healed up, Ame and Victoria returned. Ame took Cain to register for the league and Victoria challenged me to a battle as well. I obliged and had Lilith go against her Tepig. This one was more work for her, as Tepig landed a few hits on her. But she showed resolve. Lilith took the hits and continued to attack it, regardless of how many times it charged. Lilith eventually won, but nearly collapsed. I immediately took her to the Center to heal. She was going to be an invaluable partner in the coming journey.
Hello everybody, and thank you for checking this new run out. I know there were few people following my mono-electric run, but that got very linear and boring very quickly. Most Electric types provide the same roles up to the point I got to (Aya), so there was very little diversity when it came to moves, abilities, and strengths. It got very repetitive.
This run is simply a duo Psychic and Ghost type run. Pretty standard rules:
- Can only use Pokemon with Psychic or Ghost typing. As long as the Pokemon is at least partially one of those two, they are usable.
- HM slaves are allowed, provided I give them the name "HM?" as I'm not sure if the Pokemon I can get can use some HMs, so Bidoof may be taken out of the box at times
- I must nickname all of my Pokemon
- Don't know if this applies to any Pokemon of these types, but I am allowed to catch Pokemon that can be traded for a Psychic or Ghost type as long as I do not level up the Pokemon to be traded
Was also bored, so did somewhat of a story because why not? Will try to do some kind of inner monologue like the one above for each update/entry, as well as a summary of what happened in important battles and whatnot.
After a lot of soft resetting, I finally got a female Fennekin with good IVs. Nature and ability are meh, but nothing too terrible.
Lilith
Nature: Serious (Works for the story, not great for battles, but at least it isn't detrimental)
Ability: Blaze (Might change to Magician with a capsule, but not sure how useful it is against NPCs)
IVs:
22 HP
13 Atk
19 Def
27 Sp. Atk (Her best)
19 Sp. Def
17 Speed
Moves: Scratch, Tail Whip, Ember
I mainly started this run so I could use the Fennekin and Ralts line again. Love those Pokemon.
