@RBRNHilda (Chesnaught) @ Assault Vest Ability: Guts - Drain Punch - Seed Bomb - Rock Tomb - Abuse (70 BP, 100 Accuracy Fighting/Dark hybrid move a la Flying Press and Dragon Ascent. Has a 30 percent chance to burn or paralyze the foe. This attack never misses.) Isn't Super Staff Bros. supposed to be broken as all get out? Upon entering battle/start of turn when using regular moves: Excuse you?? You wanna run that one by me again?? Upon using 'Abuse': This one's for questioning my authority! Upon fainting: Man, it's not abusive if I -feel- like you deserved it...

I'd be inclined to agree with Pokemon being LV 1 being nearly LV 20 due to experience gains later in the game... Which is exactly why that isn't really an issue that is of concern. You literally save yourself only one switch train KO to get your Beldum from 1 to 17 (and I believe the opponent may have other Pokemon.) The -easy- route for Ame is to leave Beldum where it is. Metagross doesn't have a problem finding use -because- of the generous EXP gain, along with the fact that it's a Metagross. There isn't really a tangible need to change Beldum's level here if experience gain is no issue from 1 - 20.

Talking about Zubat in the same area as corsola is cruel. I'm still mad at Azery for that.
-
34 isn't a level -i'm- willing to give to something like tepig or piplup. I want to see learnsets- so a concession with two evo mons would be like Level 20 - 25 This needs to be more case by case.
-
I think we can hold a think tank for fixing grinding - but first Ame has to be willing to hand that one over to us. Knowing her vote, I don't know if she particularly cares about that situation either.
-
Hey Dondon, at least we agree on Makuhita outclassing Pancham! Seriously, I wouldn't mind the following two options - instead of Spheal, we encounter Sealeo in the wild. - lower the levels of wild pre evos that are being introduced in the game, and throw in evolved pokemon from lines encountered earlier to maintain the ability to grind in the area. When the poll was closed it was 44 people for A 23 other options. The poll was pretty lopsided and because of that poll Ame is in that hole as a designer. Grind may be bad design, but it would seem by vote that it's -wanted- bad design. I think this thread has served it's purpose. It's the same people arguing the same thing and it's getting cyclical on both sides. This is Ame's rodeo so I'm not /threading myself, but the Polls up and most people are pro grind regardless of their opinion being refutable or not. The next step is do we keep that result with integrity while still addressing and fixing related problems. This -should- be closed at this point.

Shinx is actually earned - and yet not everybody chooses to play arcade games to have enough coins for it. It's a perfect event Pokemon whose rivals are Pichu, Electrike, and ....still Pachirisu because Electric is a very poorly represented type early.
-
I think over-the-cap mons are okay. I think below the cap mons that require a bit of time (be it happiness or level grinding) are okay. In some cases I think some pokemon can be allowed to be a bit higher up, but this isn't something I think should be the rule. At all. Ready-to-use greatly reduces the need for choice. Roll with the easy -and- more beneficial option. No thanks.
-
See? Why would you use Pachirisu over Electrike then? (and Pachirisu is pretty good, its just that its the other option at that point) It's possible to change the weather yourself, Yash, but props for being on the straight and narrow.
-
There's no trouble in Electrikes case. Start playing the game on a rainy day. I wouldn't mind over-the-cap event mons. It's a good way to feasibly bring in higher tiered Pokemon, lower tiered legends into the game and could help keep us honest against upper echelon boss fights.

I don't think it has to be the rule either as I've already said, but the rule doesn't need revision so much as things need to be evaluated on a case by case basis. People do enjoy grinding. That in itself is why A got so many votes. It's actually not an evil to some gamers to begin with. Thats the basis that we should make strides to fix things from.
-
And yet, usage already favors events, so it would seem like wild Pokemon already get the shaft. I understand that wilds are not supposed to outclass events, but then there goes the diversity argument. There goes the individual exploration which is a successful and cherished part of an ideal Pokemon game.
-
Ame has repeatedly said that diversity in usage is a goal. Repel immediately suggests that wild Pokemon shouldn't exist - let alone be considered for usage. Some people legitimately don't care to look up locations of Pokemon on the guide and thus the wild Pokemon already have an uphill battle to climb for attention. Event Pokemon that are immediately better further discourages exploration and use of wilds because these Pokemon will eventually have egg moves and without a grind or some sort of drawback, will be a no brainer for most trainers. The developers preference here outweighs diversity and hurts the game accomplishing this goal later on. A Grind may be discouraging, but it's completely avoidable which helps earlier Pokemon see more use as they would be outclassed later in the game. This -HELPS- the goal of diversity. Theres nothing stopping one but themselves when it comes to grinding. If you want the Pokemon for use - it's there for the taking. You just have to choose to work with it or keep your current team.
-
They faint. Do you even play pokemon? Grinding is an experience people enjoy in Pokemon games specifically though. People feel good when they level up. You get to watch your pokemon grow. You get to manage your learnset free of charge. You get to see the wild pokemon out there which could be a potential team member you didn't consider because you usually spam repels. This isn't a typical RPG in that the player has so much choice and influence behind their -own- story. Removing the grind makes certain pokemon clearly better than others and damages usage of wild Pokemon because story mowers are repel happy.
-
Theres actually a reason breeding feels less like an achievement (outside of breeding for IVs/nature/shiny) ...and thats because you actually feel like your making progress with grinding. To go back and breed produces backtracking and your only doing it so that you can start grinding. Theres no reward value in just hatching an egg for the amount of time it will take. On the other hand, leveling up produces dopamine as we get closer to our moves of choice. Who would want to scale for those moves when it can be more exciting to "level up" to them. Then theres the issue of being forced to hunt scales for learnset moves AND start moves. Thats simply not practical.
-
Forcing more breeding on trainers that like grinding isn't practical. This is Pokemon. We grind -anyway- as we progress through the game, and if we find Pokemon that we want to use in the wild or through an event, the grind isnt an object because we want to use the pokemon. Ame doesn't need to re-invent the wheel here. Grinding may not be everyones cup of tea, but its more of an issue in game that Reborn makes it hard to do so than it is that some pokemon are not ready to use. Fixing the grinding to be less tedious solves inconvenience as opposed to the alternative Taking away reward or forcing impractical backtracking on players that enjoy grinding.
-
Id rather grind than be forced to use scales. Im a little shocked that A voters turned tail because the game developer answered your concerns. If you have a change of heart. Change your vote. If not, Ame isn't going to kill you if you challenge her.
-
This really is just a bottom line "How much do you want it?" type of deal. Poll seems to indicate that most players will go to utmost lengths of grinding to use pokemon they want.
-
Its not forced though. You dont have to use the Pokemon. If you -want- to use the pokemon, grinding isnt a question. Its just something you do.
