      it's always like that lol, the examples taught in class will be ridiculously simple compared to the problems given in tests.

      homework - Johnny has 30 cakes and eats 25 of them, how many has he left = 5 (and diabetes...)

      Test = Johnny has 5 apples, the radius of an orange is 2cm. Calculate the mass of the sun!

      I know the feeling. My chem II teacher is like "Read this and take notes", doesn't teach us, and then gives us a test on things that weren't even in the book. Pretty sure it's a miracle that I have an A in there.
