Update 9: Jasper Ward-Taka Not many people can say they beat Taka on their first try. My plan was to lead with Sassy, bring the Lileep down to almost being KOed, and switch out to Braveheart. She’d then finish off the Lileep, get the Moxie boost, and take out the infamous Chatot with an all out Moxie boosted Take Down or two. Then, with another Moxie boost, do as much damage to the Mega Tangrowth as possible before going down, sending Sassy back in to finish it off. It didn’t go as planned, but I still won. For starters, when I switched to Braveheart on the Lileep, I forgot Taka had super potions. Then, I decided that since Lileep’s attempts at attack were pathetic, I’d have Braveheart set up a few Work Ups. I did and was then able to take it down in a few Fire Fangs and get the Moxie boost. But then Taka sent in the Tangrowth, not the Chatot like I expected. I spammed Fire Fang and almost KOed it, but then got an unlucky critical Acid Spray to the face and lost Braveheart. I then sent in Sassy to finish the job with Psyshock. It was kinda like my original plan, except that the ungodly Chatot was still alive. I kept Sassy in and tried to set up a Light Screen to soften the force of that Chatter, but it outsped me and used Sing to put Sassy to sleep. I switched to Slavebat, using him as a sacrifice to switch in Strawberry. The Chatot tried Sing again, but it didn’t work because of Strawberry’s Sweet Veil ability! I used Aromatherapy to bring Sassy back to life, although it later proved pointless. Strawberry tanked a Chatter really well, and managed to sharply lower the opponent’s Special Defense with Fake Tears once. I tried to do it again, but he got knocked out by the next Chatter. Then, since I hadn’t given Strider a turn in the battle anyway, I was like “why not, I’ll try it”. I didn’t expect Strider to outspeed the thing, and I did not expect water pulse to OHKO it. But both happened. Also, on the way to Taka I caught a Scatterbug. Not much to say about it, I'll evolve it of course because I'm doing expert mode, but I'm not gonna actually use it as part of the team.

Under The Hill [OOC/Sign-Ups]
CURIE replied to Notus's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Oh yay, Aura, yet ANOTHER stuffy old Chinese Stereotype name for the stuff... Sure there isn't a difference between Aura and whatever I've got? Because I'm pretty sure I can't make portals. Or heal people. I think I could maybe do that thing where I make a wall of pure energy, but it just might take all of the stuff I have. But I know I CAN outspeed and overpower you, not to mention outmaneuver. In a straight up fight, I think I'm better off with "energy".- 1735 replies

Under The Hill [OOC/Sign-Ups]
CURIE replied to Notus's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Well, over the time I was reading this whole thing (Thinking it was too late to sign up), I've had two Ideas for characters. Actually, same character, just two different powers. Randomly choosing this one: Name: Edward Collier Appearance: About 4 foot 11 inches (or at least, that's what it was last time he measured himself, which was a couple weeks ago). Caucasian (he can't believe he spelled that right on his first try) male with short, dark brown hair that he keeps forgetting to brush in the morning, so it's a bit untidy. Green eyes, and is REALLY skinny. He isn't anorexic or anything- as a matter of fact he's pretty into candy- but he can't seem to gain weight for the life of him. Really helps him with rock climbing, but we'll get to that in "Backstory". Clothes? Weeeeeeeeeell, he really just wears whatever he happens to pull out of the drawer in the morning, unless he's going to school or a Scout meeting of course in which case he takes a uniform out of his closet. Oh wait you're talking about what he's wearing right now, huh? Well, he's (kinda sorta not really) representing Scouting here, so he's in his Scout Clothes- Class B of course. I dunno what the class A is made of but it's STUFFY AS HELL. His class B is just a simple red shirt with his Troop number on it (160), and a pair of greenish Khaki pants/shorts (you can actually take off and reattach the bottom half, to change their length). He's also got a backpack with a bunch of Scouty Survival Stuff in it, although if he knew he would get FREAKIN SUPERPOWERS in here, he would've packed more in that thing. Age: 13, almost 14 Personality and Backstory at the same time: First of all, keep in mind he's got Asperger's syndrome. It's part of the Autism spectrum and it means he's kinda... awkward around other people. As a matter of fact, he often comes off as rude and insensitive without meaning to, especially when he's trying to make things better ("This chick's crying about the loss of her friend? I'll tell her a joke about how the guy died to cheer her up!). His brain works differently than most people's, although that's not necessarily a bad thing or a disadvantage. In fact, he has a pretty high IQ of 121. People who have Asperger's always have high or average IQs, never low ones. He notices things other's don't and can process information faster than others. Except for in math. It's not that he's bad at it, it's not that he dislikes it, he's just... slower at it for some reason and I'm getting off track math has no point in this adventure. That's another thing, his thought processes tend to go off on weird, barley related tangents. Oh, and that's another thing. Unlike others down here, he's really in it more for the adventure than for the reward at the end. In fact, one could say he doesn't take this whole situation very seriously. Then again, I wouldn't either in his position. He's a devout Christian, and therefore knows that Hell has no power over him. Even if he dies down here, he goes to a better place (Assuming he dies permanently. This all becomes more of a joke to him when he discovers the respawning thing.) If he does get to the end, then sure he'll accept the reward. Hasn't exactly nailed down what his wish would be. Maybe make his favorite Pokemon a reality. Maybe he'll just wish to keep his powers when he leaves this place. Heck, he might just give the wish to someone else who wants it more than he does. But despite the way he seems, he knows how to get things done when the situation gets serious (although, the limit at which things get "serious" seems a bit farther to him than to most people, especially now that he has superpowers). If he didn't, he would never have gotten as far as he did in Scouting. He's a Life Scout, almost an Eagle Scout. Above all else, a survivor in situations where most kids his age and adults would have given up. His persistence and determination is what made him well known ("popular" isn't exactly the word) in his Troop, even when he seems like he's not that kind of guy. Oh, and he's a huge nerd/geek. Pokemon, Anime, Doctor Who, My Little Pony (Gen 4, of course. Screw the others), Super Smash Brothers, he's into it all. Ability: Apparently the hill gives powers to people depending on their personalities. His own inner power (some stuffy old Chinese stereotypical people would call it Ki or something but screw them he's just gonna call it energy) is amplified, and he has the ability to manipulate it to propel himself, be it through the air or at extremely superfast speeds, or to amplify his own physical strength temporarily, or even to affect other things. For example, he could either send a small amount of energy at an object to push it away, or he could send a huge amount to blow it up with a lazer. Kinda think a DBZ character, except way, WAY, WAY, WAY less powerful. Cost: Like a DBZ character, his powers are directly proportionate to his own energy and stamina. It was increased to superhuman levels when he entered, but that was only to keep him from killing himself with a single lazer beam. Flight is the easiest for him, as a matter of fact its effect for just floating there is negligible. It's when he puts speed into it that things get complicated... Which brings us to using his energy in superhuman bursts of speed and strength. As I said, it's proportionate. So for example, crossing a distance at 3x normal speed wears him out as if he had run 3x that distance at normal speed. Same thing applies to super strength. Lifting an object 20 times heavier than him is like lifting his own weight 20 times. Now you can see why the hill amplified his energy reserve. And the Lazers? They eat up his energy like Stealth Rocks on a Volcarona. Hope this isn't too Mary-Sueish, because it's actually largley based off of myself in real life. Minus age and the superpowers, unfortunately...- 1735 replies

--not to mention the rest of Dante's tales-- Eagle, I sent you a PM. I can help get you up to speed on what's occurred in the RP as well as each character if you like
-
Oh hey Eagle, of course you can join! I planned it in a way that I can easily insert characters mid-story. So, if you're still interested, drop by the OOC and make a character!
-
You can also make it happen yourself, and if you do you get a TM as a prize.

Well, the game corner has a couple: The way the NPCs there describe the multiplayer games makes it sound strikingly like Leauge of Legends There's a girl there who talks about this cool fangame called "Pokemon Reborn" And the fact that the Lottery woman is another color than the others, that color happening to be white, and her name HAPPENING to be Rarity, I'm not sure that's just a coincidence. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but when Cain randomly starts singing, the lyrics are actually from openings of the Pokemon Anime. Or at least, some of them are, because I definitely recognized them. Also, in a couple encounters with Team Meteor (all of them optional), they have this motto that you know would've never been written if it wasn't for Team Rocket's role in the Anime.

Update 8: Florina I’ve been dreading this one battle more than anything else. Most people here agree that to take out Florina’s Cradily, you pretty much NEED fighting type attacks. And up to this point, only 5 Pokemon from 6th Gen are available, none of them having fighting type attacks. First of all there was the level issue. First, I tried having everyone at level 25 except for Braveheart, who was 24 because of the boosted experience. But I later had to bring her down to level 23, and Sassy down to 24. Florina leads with Maractus, and I led off with Braveheart. I know, the whole Nature Power/Sand Tomb thing put her at a disadvantage, but thankfully fire fang knocked out Maractus in two hits and freed her from the Sand Tomb (with only 12 health left). I kept her in as Breloom came out, and then switched to Strawberry, because I knew it would use Mach Punch and that Strawberry would eat it up like it was cotton candy. His Fairy Wind was surprisingly powerful, able to take the thing down in two hits. From it, he grew to level 26 and learned Aromatherapy. I have a strange feeling that will come in handy later on… And then the infamous Cradily came out. I switched to Sassy and pretty much had to spam Psyshock, and hope that the Cradily spammed Smack Down instead of Recover or Mega Drain. It took me several tries before the thing finally went down, and Sassy was about to die. While Florina’s fourth Pokemon was out, I took the time to heal Sassy with a super potion, although it turned out I should have used it on Braveheart, because the fifth Pokemon was Ferroseed. I had no choice but to switch out to Braveheart, who was about to die, and use Fire Fang and PRAY it didn’t miss. Thankfully it didn’t, Ferroseed went down in one hit, and I got the Moxie boost. Last up was Cacnea, and like with Julia I was like “eh, I’ve got the Moxie boost, let’s see if Braveheart can finish this before she goes down”. She did. I have enough time to go to the Jasper ward and start episode 3, but I won't because it's raining today and will be windy tomorrow. Let's just say I have a plan for Taka, and that plan involves fighting him on a NOT rainy day.

Word of advice, before making a post to ask for something, make sure it didn't already happen so as not to look dumb.
-
The Beryl Library wasn't even there at the time he made that video. It's still in that building, just a different place. Also, it's too late for you to get the secret story anyway...
-
Pre-gym battle too. As a matter of fact, a lot more than the dialouge is different pre-battle, including some trainer battles that don't happen in the normal story.
-
Well, maybe it's common knowledge, but I always thought it was a secret since it requires going out of your way to do something before a certain point in the game that most people don't do until after said point. Plus, I never hear anyone talking about it, whenever they talk about this part of the game they always refer to the normal story.
-
Just saying, all the Police officers can be found before the double battle. It's how you get the secret storyline... Anyway, your main problem is that you're using Pokemon who fall under the category of "absolutely suck until they evolve and become awesome". I suggest getting some Pokemon that are in the "pretty good in the early game but suck later on" group.

Update 7: Onyx Ward-Onyx School I fell victim to my own penalty. I talked to the girl in the Onyx Ward’s apartment building (the one with the rooftop garden), not knowing she’d give me a Cacnea egg, and had to soft reset. Thankfully, I had saved right after I beat the Pulse Tangrowth, so all I had to redo were a couple of trainer battles. On a happier note, I tried my hand at the lottery yesterday and got nothing, but today I got an Ultra Ball because of Braveheart! I swear, she’s like my favorite team member right now. Oh, and you know that group of kids in front of the Onyx School, who argue which gym leader is best? Well, I don’t know why, but in my file, only the girl who battles you is there. It’s kinda creepy when she says she’s in a private conversation when there’s no one around… The last couple of battles had been with a large number of Poison types, so going through the Onyx School’s trainers provided Strawberry with a new chance to shine. And by shine, I mean wear the opponents down really slowly. I swear, if he could only get a better move, he’d be a powerhouse. And Braveheart learned Fire Fang, which is cool because not only is it stronger than Ember, but it also gets a boost from Moxie. I read through all the books before taking the quizzes, and tried to see how many I could get before having to backtrack. I got all of them but one! Not too bad if I say so myself. The battle with Fern’s Lombre went the same way as before (Strider spams Lick to become invincible), and Braveheart took down Servine without too much difficulty, but taking down Roselia with Sassy’s Psybeam proved harder than I thought it would. I guess it can tank special hits really well. Anyway, with that battle, all my Pokemon were level 24 or 25. I went to the rooftop garden to grind them all to the level cap, and Sassy learned Psyshock right before evolving into Meowstic. It’s a bit early to tell, but I think she’s now the strongest team member. Now, time to stock up on super potions...

Official Super Smash Bros. Thread for Wii U and 3DS
CURIE replied to Maelstrom's topic in Gaming General
Is it just me, or are the assist trophies and Pokeballs in the demo limited as well? The pre-battle tips list dozens, but I only ever get the same 5 or 6 every time. -
You can read the labels on the PULSEs now. EPIC SPECULATION TIME!

Well, they don't in-game, maybe she forgot to add that in and will in episode 14 -

I seriously doubt an area big enough to cover 1/4th of the map will be limited to postgame. That happened in Black/White, and you can see how well THAT went over. -

CURIE replied to CURIE's topic in Reborn City
I considered that earlier until I remembered they had actual explosives planned for Julia's gym; it makes sense they used them for the train station. Think of how much effort and money it must take to make a PULSE, they would never make one for the purpose of just blowing it up while they have actual bombs that do the job just as well. -

CURIE replied to CURIE's topic in Reborn City
Thanks for the info, didn't notice it when it happened because I wasn't looking for it, because I didn't discover the numbers yet. Now, assuming Camerupt is number 6, that means Abra, Mr. Mime and the unknown 2 in Ametrine and Agate should be 7, 8, 9 and 11. That would make all the PULSEs accounted for, except for the missing pre-Tangrowth one. (The problems Team Meteor was having with Abra indicate it's too recent to be Pre-Tangrowth) -
I happened to accidentally come across something you couldn't do in previous episodes of Reborn, if you stand right in front of certain PULSE systems and press "A", you read the labels. The one that Tangrowth used in Beryl Ward says "PULSE- 5A". The Tangrowth one in Jasper says "PULSE- 5B". So obviously, the number indicates which type of Pulse it was (Tangrowth, Muk, Abra, etc.), and the letter indicates which individual it is (the Beryl Ward Tangrowth was made first, so it was A. Jasper Ward came second, so it was B.) This means that if you could have read the Obsidia Ward Tangrowth pulse, it probably would have said "PULSE- 5C". You can't though because it disappears as soon as you beat it. Now, if Tangrowth is number 5, then that means there were 4 more Pokemon before it. What were they? Well, obviously Muk was one. The lake's been poisoned for much longer than the plant crisis was going on. Also, Mr. Bigglesworth was definitely one of the earlier, if not the very first PULSE Pokemon. And remember how Yureyu was destroyed by Earthquakes long ago? That was probably a PULSE as well. Maybe a Dugtrio or a Wishcash? Anyway, that leaves one more PULSE Pokemon to have been made before Tangrowth was. Will we ever find out what exactly it was? Anyway, I've gone through the rest of the game's PULSEs, to the best of my ability: Muk: Confirmed by Ame herself to be number 4. Camerupt: Unfortunately, you can't read it. Its number is probably 6 though. It can't be under 5, otherwise Apophyll would have been a pile of ash long ago. Bigglesworth: Confirmed by Ame herself, this is the very first PULSE system, which interestingly is PULSE- 00 and not 01. That means there's actually FIVE pre-Tangrowth PULSEs. Abra: Confirmed by Ame herself to be number 7. Clawtizer: The machine controlling it says it's number 10 when Eclipse deactivates it. And obviously, there's more PULSEs on the way. Mr. Mime for one, and whatever's behind the ice wall in Ametrine and the sleepies in Agate City. Hopefully we'll be able to read at least some of them. EDIT: Cepheus posted a great new list for us: don't want to seem like I'm ripping him off so I'll quote it: (this edit is outdated now) EDIT FOR EPISODE 14: Avalugg confirmed for number 02. Also, there was one before any of these, even Bigglesworth: A Magneton. This one's machine wasn't labeled, as it wasn't intended to be a series at the time. EDIT FOR EPISODE 15 (spoilers) So, here's the new list: First prototype: Magneton 00 - Mr.Bigglesworth 01 - ?? (most likely Earthquake related) 02 - Avalugg 03 - Swalot 04 - Muk 05 - Tangrowth 06 - Probably Camerupt 07 - Abra 08 - ?? (either Mr. Mime or whatever's keeping everyone sleepy in Agate) 09 - ?? (either Mr. Mime or whatever's keeping everyone sleepy in Agate) 10 - Clawitzer

Update 6: Obsidia Park-That Stupid Tangrowth Going through Obsidia park in itself was pretty uneventful, except that Braveheart learned Take Down at level 20. But that stupid Tangrowth. First of all, Sassy was the only Pokemon I had that could stand up to it. Strawberry and Strider had type disadvantage, and Braveheart might have been able to fight as well, if it didn’t just HAPPEN to be raining! I thought I could steal its Pulse item with Covet, but nope, it has the same protection as mega stones. The only thing I could do against it was set up a Light Screen, spam Psybeam (which was also weakened because of Tangrowth’s Filter ability), and hope it kept using Acid Spray. At a couple of points, I had to switch out to Strawberry as a sacrifice to heal Sassy back up. When I FINALLY beat the darn thing, I taught Sassy Charge beam to replace Covet, as it no longer had any use. Saved the Daycare Couple and restocked on items in the Department store, not much to say there that doesn’t happen in a regular run of Reborn. Went in the Onyx Ward and took out a couple of trainers, but still not much to say there. I think I’ll take the rest of the Ward later, that Boss battle was more than enough for today.

Things Ame should do (lol not do) in Pokemon Reborn.
CURIE replied to Reignited'Light's topic in Reborn City
False, it's just a regular Ditto. The only "super" part is that it happened to copy the God of Pokemon -
Update 5: Obsidia Slums-Coral Ward-Cut I grinded Strawberry until he was the same level as the others (minus the overleveled Braveheart) and went through the slums. Thing about Strawberry is that while he takes hits really well, he kinda sucks at dishing them out. His only attacking moves are Fairy Wind and Round, so I think that if I could just get a stronger fairy move, he’d be an awesome fighter. As it is now, the battles are a little bit on the slower side and I need to use Fake Tears often. Oh, and Sassy learned Psybeam, so now she kicks even more butt. Strawberry really got his chance to shine in the Scraggy Gang battle. The Scraggys are all x4 weak to fairy, so they all got swept while Strider used lick to absorb their fighting attacks. From the battle he learned Endeavor, which might compliment his bulkiness. When his health does go down, he takes the opponent with him. The mist in the Coral ward strengthened Strawberry’s Fairy Wind, but it really was pointless because almost all the Pokemon there were Poison Types. There’s the fisherman who uses a Magikarp and then all Grimers, all the wild Pokemon are Grimers, and then there’s the Cain battle. At least Sassy had plenty of fodder to test the new move with. All that experience got her to learn Fake Out. So then I got cut and, of course, taught it to Slavebat. I went and did the fake daycare couple battle and explored the alleyway you need cut to get to, but that was uneventful (although I did come pretty close to getting the penalty, and barley escaped at the expense of a Pokesnax).

Things Ame should do (lol not do) in Pokemon Reborn.
CURIE replied to Reignited'Light's topic in Reborn City
While the idea of a Super Ditto like that is awesome and needs to be in SOME kind of fanmade Pokemon game, it won't be a PULSE. If you look at all of team Meteor's PULSE Pokemon, they're made for destruction and causing chaos, not specifically combat. Tangrowth=overrunning the city with plants Muk=poisoning the lake Camerupt=erupting a volcano on top of a school Bigglesworth=turning part of the city into a trash heap Abra=teleporting crap around to confuse everyone and cause chaos in general, origionally to teleport the Meteors straight to Arceus so they could destroy the city without the four keys Clauncher=super lazer, enough said Mr. Mime=cutting off all contact between cities, which will eventually lead to the slow death of one or both Whatever's behind the ice wall in Ametrine Mountain=see Mr. Mime Whatever's behind the sleeping people in Agate (Hypno maybe?)=making everyone who enters an area fall asleep, turning it into a dead zone AND see Mr. Mime What kind of thing would a PULSE Ditto that isn't just fighting? But I agree, the general idea of the super ditto needs to exist somewhere, somehow, in some fanfgame.
