Regardless, people should know better than attempt set up moves in the face of Pokemon that are infamous for carrying Roar. I opened the match by mega evolving a different Pokemon, so he knew for a fact Swampert couldn't be mega either...

Once again, people don't really pay attention, at least not a crazy amount. So yea... then again he could've figured maybe you wouldn't Roar him out since that move was so obvious why would he do it? A Prediction...only looks good when you predict correctly XD. Otherwise you tend to look dumb lol.

No I mean, I am falling asleep. Like, everytime my level of concentration drops even a small bit, I found myself snoozing in front of the screen... Which often results in a splitting headhache.

  3. My oh my, THIS is the big idea you lowly peons come up with in a day like this? Spaghetti? With the seventh iteration of the Star Wars franchise being released today, I was expecting something more sci-fi...

Again, nothing wrong with memes per se, I am just baffled at how nobody saw it fit to make some that are related to the day's biggest events.

Of course, I would take culinary debates over yet another tiresome reboot of a cash cow franchise, but still, I was expecting most of you to have different feelings on the matter...

  5. I told a friend of mine that I wasn't mad at him for messing up a delicate situation, and that the fault was actually mine for having any expectations to begin with. Somehow, he didn't find this to be as reassuring as I had hoped, I wonder why?

  6. If it FAINTS because of recoil then yes, friendship goes down. But as long as you keep the big guy alive you are good.
  7. This applies to most visual media I can think of, from comic books to cartoons to videogames, western and eastern alike. It is a popular trope to make a character recognizable by giving him/her a very unique outfit... But if he/she changed said outfit every other episode, the whole point would be made moot, don't you think? Just assume they wash their clothes off-screen: by your logic, people rarely eat or sleep and never go to the toilet, either.
  8. "Pokemon Showdown crashed! Don't worry, we're working on fixing it". Why no, it doesn't annoy me at all when this happens in the middle of a conversation, thank you for asking.

  9. I should point out that, in Graterras' metagame, Inner Focus is actually going to be more useful than Swift Swim, because we are crazy like that.
  10. I am reading more reference material concerning D&D, and the creator of said material has these choice words to say about the Sorcerer: " In 5e, the source of your power does not have to be your mom’s wild night in college". I am not sure how I am supposed to comment this.

Actually... that's kinda not correct Strat, Sorcerer's in D&D are entirely Bloodline based... it's just saying your Mother didn't like need directly bang a Dragon/Other Magical creature once cause science.

  11. Geez, I really really REALLY wish I could play D&D now. Still know nobody IRL tho.

Why don't we arrange something over the internet? I can get Huk involved. There MUST be a way around this...

  12. http://www.giantitp.com/comics/images/lLw1CEnx1Cyrn18yLag.gif You know, I am particularly fond of this scene. That an author would go out of his way to show that the villains, too, are capable of respect, friendship, or merely talking things out like civilized adults, is a rare yet oh so refreshing occurrence. Villains are people too.

I like the ending. "If that catches on, we'll both be out of a job!"

  14. Tears to Tiara. Sweet mother of God, Tears to Tiara. I shall put my best efforts into maintaining the demeanor most befitting of a proper lady but truly, I just witnessed something so hilarious, I just need to share it with all of you, my dear peons. Tears to Tiara is a mix of Visual Novel and SRPG (a SRPG with a real time combat system, mind you, which is... Weird to say the least) and, to set the tone and properly introduce the plot, it first of all demonstrates the Visual Novel half. And it is verbose. Oh so verbose. I believe I am not exaggerating when I say it takes about a hour before the player is requested to do anything at all (there IS an interruption at the halfway point of this overly long introduction, which gives you a breather and lets you save). And throughout this hour of talking, you are introduced to an evil priest who quickly makes it clear that he will not hesitate to commit the most heinous acts to accomplish his goal, which is to kidnap Riannon, the main female lead of the game, and sacrifice her in order to resurrect the Demon King, a superhuman individual who embodies everything evil and unholy, in order to claim his powers for himself and rule the world. And well, the priest is actually successful: in the very first scene of the game, we see him kidnap Riannon, and set up the ritual to resurrect the Demon King. Arthur, Riannon's brother, arrives on the scene to rescue his sister, but it is too late: the Demon King is resurrected, the evil priest offers him the girl as a sacrifice in exchange for power but, surprise surprise, it turns out a being of pure evil is not easily controlled, and in fact he slays the priest, unleashing his dark powers upon the world. Without even realizing the full extent of what is happening, Arthur jumps in front of his sister to protect her, staring down a being that could probably vaporize him with a mere gesture: needless to say, the Demon King laughs at his efforts, taunting him and daring him to try and stop him. The tension building, a dramatic music playing in the background, our hero faces what promises to become the main villain of the story, surely to take the most classic of the early game beatings heroes often suffer at the hands of final bosses. And then... ... And then... ... And then this happens. Which actually causes the siblings to bicker, with the Demon King sheepishly asking if he gets a saying in the matter (he doesn't). And from here, a plot whose sheer wackiness rivals Disgaea's unfolds. Tears to Tiara is a PC game which never saw an export outside of Japan, so I honestly don't know if there is any way to acquire it outside of the relatively legal channels I resorted to. It is of course in Japanese, but an english patch (which is free to download and easy to use) has been made by fans. I truly, truly recommend it. If you can stay awake through the overly tedious introduction and grasp the bizarre battle mechanics, you will be repayed with an absolutely hilarious experience. I really cannot recommend it enough.
  15. Oh hey, since you mentioned liking jrpgs, can you recommend some, possibly for GBA/NDS/PS2/PSP? I am always looking to expand my emulation library!

Thank you. I remember topping the UU ladder on PO with Bisharp, back at the dawn of Gen 5 (yes Bisharp was UU back then, believe it or not), so I do have my fair share of experience with Sucker Punch.

  19. Sometimes the snarky comments write themselves...
  20. I never actually watched the show, mainly because, much like in Undertale's case, seeing it mentioned so many times in this very forum made me lose my will to give it a chance. A lady cannot lower herself by following trends started by peasants, it would be unbecoming of my status.
  21. The Luminous Arc series, which I am currently in the process of playing. Despite being held back by less than stellar plots and limited graphics (they are isometric SRPGs for the NDS, what did you expect?), they have some rather interesting game mechanics, and they are just difficult enough to provide a challenge without being downright unfair. I would venture as far as to say that indeed, for a Pokemon fan who tried out Conquest, these games are the next logical step to discover the world of isometric SRPGs...
  22. Well in fairness, the sexual tension implications are NOT part of the word itself. Remember, we westerners have only a partial vision of the japanese language and its patterns, and well, our main source, anime, is rather untrustworthy. But I can cite various examples of media in which the word is used properly, i.e. as a mere honorific devoid of any "notice me" implications. Have some: 1) In Digimon Savers, Masaru demands that Tohma addresses him as "sempai" upon first meeting him. Reason being, he thinks Tohma is a newcomer to the organization and thus, as part of his "manly man" act, he wants to be respected as the senior member. When he learns that Tohma is not joining the organization for the first time, but rather returning from a journey abroad, and that in truth Tohma has been in the organization since at least a couple of years before he even learned about it, Masaru is extremely embarrassed. Which triggers the rivarly the two share for the rest of the show. 2) In Blazblue, Carl Clover is shown to be a very polite, gentle, and rather cute-looking kid, and is given a speech pattern to match, using the pronoun boku and never forgetting the proper honorifics when talking to others. In particular, when talking to his former seniors at the military academy, he refers to them as "sempai". He is also a deeply scarred individual with multiple personality disorders and a tendence to lashing out VERY violently at the slightest provocation: in one instance, he is seen conversing in rather casual fashion, reminishing about good old times and discussing life choices, with former most popular girl in school Tsubaki Yayoi, whom he still addresses as "sempai"... Literally seconds before attempting to murder her. So yeah, in this case, the speech pattern is played as straight as possible, giving him the appearance of the perfectly mannered young boy, in order to make the contrast between his manners and his actions all the more disturbing. So yeah, the use of the word that you hate is the one commonly seen in the so-called "harem" anime, but there is so much more to it And since this topic is for asking questions: are you mad at me for completely derailing the conversation?
