Eh I underestimated the amount of work I have to do today so don't expect too much response out of me for a little while especially with how far behind I am. Sorry, but when there's twenty people around and half of them don't tag, it really stacks up seeing as I don't know who the non-tags are addressing. The duel will happen on Tuesday though regardless.

I was kind of leaning towards Rotom, not for the ability, but because of how it suits Henry. As for the whole Levitate thing, you really underestimate my usage with Raichu as there are ways for her to dodge that mentioned attack despite not running Levitate. I guess we'll be seeing a Rotom soon (though I ain't sure where to find one because technically it's found in a forest in the games, but it seems to have a love for technology). Zephyr: I already got the perfect theme for that battle seeing what you're up against.

I'm not a programmer, but I can already tell you that ain't even worth the effort as breeding exists which does the same thing with just five minutes added onto it. As for Beldum, that is one I kind of want to see stay at level 1 just for the nostalgia (or level 100). I won't complain if it's level 50 though because I did kind of request something like that in previous posts.

Pokémon Academy: Ch 3: Winter Cup [IC]
Commander replied to Chim's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
"Someone's in a bit of a grouchy mood," responded Henry. He made a little grin to Java before turning his back to them. Henry heard this song and dance many times before so it didn't even bother him. After Danielle follow Mareek, he turned to the three still remaining. "I assume the three of you will be joining them as you all tend to move in flocks anyways. Not that I really care. Just tell me one thing before you go: what are you trying to accomplish by doing this? I'm kind of getting the impression you're trying to sabotage Evan."- 1255 replies

Let me ask you this: have you ever used that event Tepig in any run through of the game? If you have, was it more than once? I'm more arguing for a median where more people would consider using it, but there'd still need some work to put in before it can be used.

Pokémon Academy: Ch 3: Winter Cup [IC]
Commander replied to Chim's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
"Ah so that what it was," Henry muttered under his breath. It was probably best for him to speak out his thoughts. "I'm really surprised you, Mareek, would be all for this. Still don't know what reporting this info would do other than slap a big target on your back and shove Evan even closer causing this so-called made up killing I keep hearing. Do any of you even think of the consequences of your actions?" And people wonder why I work alone on stuff like this.- 1255 replies

I'm still on the pro grind side of things, but as I mentioned many times before, something needs to be done to make it not so tedious. There just needs to be better Pokemon to grind on and as Jericho said Beedrill is a perfect example of this. I remember grinding off Beedrill many times (even up to Shade) because they weren't too hard to kill, but really gave out a lot of experience as well as you can fight them right outside a Pokemon Center. Maybe making Audino a common, high-level, and easy to find Pokemon wouldn't be such a bad idea. Rebattable trainers already exist and they are being abused to grind (probably mostly for money) so why_not make it a bit easier on them by finding more convenient methods to implement them. As for grinding as a whole, it may feel like a waste of time in theory, but it's not. Personally, whenever I know I'm going to have to grind, I reevaluate my team and decide which ones can stay and which ones I should kick off to spend a little extra time to raise. If you take away the grinding by raising the event Pokemon's level that much, I'd probably just have three main Pokemon and just keep slapping a few new Pokemon each gym to exploit their weaknesses (I may or may not have done this with a Cottonee many times). Basically, all I'm saying is to trim the fat, but keep a bit of forced grinding in the game. It has worked well so far but I feel it does get a little tedious due to the lack of decent grind spots or methods. As for those low-level Pokemon, a lot of them do need raised up a bunch of levels despite logic, but not to the point where you can use them almost off the bat. Knock 'em down a few levels than what you're ideal is along with better grinding and I'd say it would be the best of both worlds. To give an example, I'd say Tepig should be level 34 instead of 15 to see him be used more, not necessarily 42 because I'd be willing to use him then despite the little bit of grinding.

I'll get my refutations up as soon as I get back (curse you work getting in the way). I have a pretty good idea why A was picked a lot more compared to B or C (you also might wanna fix that poll because I can't vote anymore ).

I come from an ideal in order to nice or better things, you should have to work hard for it. Pretty much I've adapted to long term grinding sessions which is why I was a bit influenced by the first choice. I did say grinding was an issue, but if raising the Pokemon levels up to stop long sessions of grinding is the best solution, I'm certainly not against it. Preferably, I wouldn't want a Piplup to be at Lv 50, but certainly would be better than having it start at Lv 15 (heck Electrike is a higher level when you first catch it and that's before the first gym). My ideal range would be 30-45 so that you have a bit of a buffer for some EVs (I don't EV train but EVs really do help). I'm not too picky though. I guess one of my big concerns was resolved by Heart Scales being common. I hate to ask this of you, but would it be a little too extreme if we had a heart scale vendor during that Agate portion of the game (Unless Luvdisc is available there then Crisis averted). I always was afraid to use heart scales because of how few were available outside of mining if you didn't Itemfinder spam. As for the bond thing, the grinding part isn't necessarily what creates the bond. That bond can be created even within five minutes of a gym fight. I'll use my Emolga for example. She really saved me on the Shelly fight, but that Shade fight was where she I grew fond of her. Basically all my Pokemon kept getting KO'd so eventually there was a point where Shade had five Pokemon (this was back when he had a Dusclops too). I don't know how I did it, but I beat him with an Emolga which pretty much made me want to keep using her for as long as possible (right now I'm at Luna on the save). The thing was: I just used it to replace Pachirusu until a better Electric type came along. I probably would've just tossed her into the box and never use her if she was like Level 5 or something though.

So the people who are more knowlegeable of the game with some playing many times over shouldn't have a greater influence compared to some random youtube user who believes that Blaziken is the only way to play the game? So what if it's a little bias. Some of us, including myself, were actually just like some of those people on Shofu's youtube channel, yet we seem to disagree with this widely believed opinion the levels should be drastically raised. I respect the opinion of people outside of the site, but when it comes to decisions that might change the way the game is played, I'd rather put my trust in the experienced, well-known players rather than a whole bunch of random people who may have played the game for a few hours. Yeah, it might not always be the best solution, but it's certainly the safest. Edit: I'm done arguing now as I'm sure I made my point a long time ago to the point this is only going to end in bickering.

Think of it as part of a series (each episode has one gym battle...as of right now). Basically, Julia giving you the first badge was the end of Episode 1, Flobot giving you one in Episode 2 so on and so on. Episode 15 will be when a new chunk of the game is released which will have a new leader and bosses that people are grinding to prepare for (I don't do it actually). The other thing is that some of the newer episodes change a few things from the older episodes. The biggest change is giving leaders field effects as they originally didn't exist until XI. Some leaders got nerfed, Pokemon were removed or moved back, and a couple little add ins. Pretty much that's what people will talk about when mentioning older episodes.

Gyarados Actually, I kind of agree with the Absol thing. I don't know why I never realized that until now.

Oh thank the heavens I finally found a moveset to work perfectly with my ideal Glaceon. I wish this thing had more versatility like Glalie (literally was so close to picking that one at one point. Totally underrated Ice Type and I really recommend considering it if you don't have a Mega.) The hard part was mixing the competitive play with the coordinator skills as she's a mix of both. I'm just thankful for what she can use (which isn't much), she can use quite well. Now for the real question going on in my head: Regular Rotom or Raichu. Both have a lot of pros and cons for the full team that I'm not too sure who to pick. Both are also well thought out down to their personality. Anyone here have a preference?

Okay, I was a bit worried because I thought if you lost you basically went back to only the info you got with your number card. It's kind of an interesting system. You can try getting multiple pieces of info in one day to get ahead, but at the risk of losing it all. And for the...very unexperienced players such as Chim and I, can still do stuff by playing it safe and only do one Shadow Duel a day, but not be completely worthless. Kind makes me relieved for the thought if everyone lost...then what would happen.

Honestly, if you put it right below the download link and everybody who played the game up to the current episode voted for it, the results still remain the same as voice your claiming to be the majority is actually the minority in terms of RPG standards. Grinding is a necessary evil that feels far more rewarding than just merely being able to push through the game. I mean some of the things people are arguing against have been done in best selling games for ages. Heck, even in the main Pokemon games if you want to use a Pseudo legend you still gotta spend a lot of time before it gets good. I mean the really big advantage of spending a couple hours once in a while grinding is that you can easily plow through some leaders instead of struggling against each leader kind of like Shofu is. Besides, how many people are actually going to even pick up Piplup when a way better water type (used to be two) is available at the very beginning of the game. You still have to spend a half hour raising it even at Lv 50 to even use it compared to something you already could be using that is likely much better and EV trained.
-
Okay, I think the majority has agreed upon that grinding is the bigger issue, not the levels so they don't really need to be touched. I did look through the ideas and I really like the rebattable trainers idea. I'd probably say the best place to incorporate them in would be either after Aya or Serra because that's when the level gap starts to get really noticeable and I don't want to completely rid of wild pokemon grinding (maybe they could be really underleveled kind of like B/W2). Honestly, I'd be happy even for them to always be available but scale up after each badge. The only problem I see with this is money, but that is an easy fix. I don't think they should really give out the same amount of money as they do because you would easily be able to grind to the cap and have around 100,000 by the second gym, which kind of contradicts how the game originally was played during those first few gyms.

Pokémon Academy: Ch 3: Winter Cup [IC]
Commander replied to Chim's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
"Thank you, Lana," Henry responded. "At least one person other than myself still has some sense left in them." Henry then glared at Danielle. "I'm pretty sure I told you guys to leave Evan alone, but it figures you ding-dongs wouldn't listen to me. Sigh...I really didn't want to get involved, but I guess I have to. Lead the way Danielle." Something still doesn't feel right. Rosie wouldn't just react to any arguement. I'll just remain silent until I can figure out what's going on. Henry then noticed Avis trying to get them to move on. The boy rolled his eyes as he followed the bird to where they were going. ((Darklight, you can bunny Henry to the Lunchroom if not on right away)).- 1255 replies

Chim, let me tell you something about Glaceon considering it's been the final member of my planned team since about November. If it wasn't about the only option remaining that gives me a bit of a coordinator impression, I would probably use something else. It's got a bunch of nice little tricks, something I doubt that's something Mareek would be looking for, but you're pretty much required to run Hail on this thing along with Blizzard. Truthfully, I'm probably a bit grouchy this thing can't have Mist. That would be like the perfect move for completing the moveset I designed for it. Thankfully, this thing still can use Frost Breath.

It's certainly a great start (you just need someway to destroy it). I could imagine it'd work well with Ciel's team and make them Charlotte level difficulty.

Let's not throw random stuff around about realism and not and kind of think about Reborn as a whole. A lot of the trainers are supposed to be tough so for them to be giving away high level Pokemon "freely" would be a little extreeme to downright stupid (it could work in some cases though). Let's take the Piplup event for example. The trainer gives you it for a "Rare Candy" basically showing he didn't care for it and really raise it. Would it really make sense for it to be 3-6 level under your Pokemon then? I certainly hope not. Another thing is that it feels better when you have to spend more time grinding up a Pokemon compared to it being usable in ten minutes. Please don't throw time into this matter as many of the leaders can be taken down with Pokemon available before even Julia. Spending that extra little time though raising a better Pokemon does make the game easier in the long run rewarding players who do grind. As I said earlier, I feel very tedious grinding at a couple points is the bigger problem than the Pokemon level as that's half the reason I skipped over many Pokemon I considered using. I do have one last point to make: raising the levels that much would be greatly punishing Pokedex completionists. After going through Kanto to Mid-Unova the Pokemon being able to level up a few levels after koing a Pokemon or two feels a lot faster than having to KO 15-20 Pokemon to level it up a single level (Fossils felt like they took forever those last two levels). Spiking all those Pokemon up levels would make an already tedious process feel even more tedious.

I'm only going to have a couple of small windows of opportunity to update the next couple days so take your time with that (which is also why I ended Slade's fight a little early).

Pokémon Academy: Ch 3: Winter Cup [IC]
Commander replied to Chim's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
"Block it with..." Gerad's words came too late. The Arcanine quickly approached the Lileep with it's final attack knocking him out. Gerad returned his Pokemon to his Great Ball and stormed off the field. Everything was in his favor yet he still lost. He muttered a few swears once reaching his waiting room not caring if anyone heard him.- 1255 replies

"Nessy!" Gerad cried out. He watched as Nessy flew through the air onto another platform. The Lileep got back onto his feet but he couldn't keep his head up. "Don't think this is over! I'm not going to lose to a wimp like you. Ingrain and Ancient Power!" The Lileep struggled a bit but managed to plant itself into the ground. Green bulbs began to move towards him allow for him to lift his head up again. The Lileep then summoned a few more rocks in addition to previous three to create a wall between him and Flare (Ancient Power).- 1255 replies
