  1. I'm strongly considering swapping Sceptile for Krookodile on Jacob's team. If he can't Mega Evolve I don't want him > Then again, Jacob already has Dark and Ground accounted for... Maybe Aerodactyl would be a good pick.
  2. {Arial, Ken, and Rene} Arthur smiled. "I'd be glad to duel someone! And I have my bicycle at school today, so someone can ride on my pegs."
  3. {Arthur, Arial, Rene, & Ken} Arthur nodded. "I'm with you on that, Arial. Plus, the beach should be nice this time of year."
  4. {Jacob & Danielle} Jacob nodded at the Sawsbuck, getting the hint. "I'm very curious. Let's go," he offered, beginning to walk out of the forest. ((Feel free to take them out of the forest.))
  5. {Jacob vs. Slade} "The end may be closer than you think, Slade! Spitfyre, use Incinerate!" Jacob ordered. Spitfyre shot a blazing hot cone of fire at half of the clones, disintegrating them immediately. When the fire hit the Water Pulse, a cloud of steam erupted and the wave of flame was quenched before it could reach Sasuke. Still, It was clear that the Blaze-boosted Incinerate was hot enough to compensate for the type disadvantage and neutralize Water-attacks.
  6. {Jacob vs. Slade} {{themedrop.mp3)) A huge smile broke out on Jacob's face as Flare charged his attack. The power! That's incredible! Jacob thought to himself. He pumped his fist and shouted across the field, "This is what it's all about, Slade! Let's give these people a battle they'll remember all year!" He looked toward Spitfyre, who stood resolutely in the face of the incoming attack. His chest swelled with blue flame and he cocked his head back, the fire beginning to escape out the back of his jaw as he prepared a powerful blast. "Spitfyre, Dragon Rage!" Jacob ordered. The Charmeleon let the blast go just as Flare's attack impacted, meeting it head-on. A shockwave came out of the impact, followed by a cloud of dust being thrown violently in the air. As the dust cleared, Jacob strained to get a look at the combatants. Spitfyre was on his back, breathing heavily. Come on, bud, the young Trainer pleaded silently. You've got the most pride I've ever seen. The most drive. The most passion! "Spitfyre!" he said confidently. "I know you can keep fighting, buddy! What happened to taking this round by storm, huh?" Spitfyre's eyes suddenly snapped open. He struggled to his feet, using his front claws for support. Eventually, though, he stood proudly in front of the audience. "CHAR-MELE-ON!" he roared defiantly, and suddenly he was cloaked in a red flame! "It's the Blaze ability..." Jacob breathed. He then looked over to Slade's side of the field, realizing he hadn't even seen what happened to Flare.
  7. {Arthur, Arial, Rene, & Ken} Arthur listened with keen interest as Rene and Ken recounted the events of the previous day. Hmm... But still, I doubt these ancient legends are true. They're just myths meant to scare children... right? he wondered. Suddenly, he heard his name and snapped back into reality. "Umm..." he thought, trying to remember what he'd spoken about with Arclight. "We actually forgot to ask him about that," Arthur admitted sheepishly. "But even so, I doubt Arclight would tell us if there were any kind of problem like that. After all, he's out to protect his investments, not solve murders."
  8. {Jacob vs. Slade} "Quick, while he's not getting a Reversal ready! Use Dig attack, and make it hurt!" The Charmeleon surfaced directly underneath the Arcanine as he fired his Flame Burst from nearby the hole, jumping out directly at the flame hound's abdomen, not even flinching as the Flame Burst's detonation lightly singed his backside.
  9. {Jacob vs. Slade} "He can't hit you if you don't come to the surface, so stay put for now!" Jacob ordered. "Another Dragon Rage!" The ground beneath the Arcanine shook as another gout of blue fire erupted from it, threatening to once again send Flare flying backward. "You're gonna need to go on the offensive if you want a ghost of a chance of winning!" Jacob noted to Slade.
  10. {Jacob vs. Slade} Oh, crap, he's still using Reversal. Still, I don't want Spits to be in the way when he gets there. "Get out of the way and counterattack!" Jacob shouted. Spitfyre acted quickly, Digging into the ground as the Arcanine approached with blinding speed. Had the fiery hound not feinted, he likely would have made direct contact, but the hesitation allowed the Flame Lizard time to get fully into the hot ground beneath the arena. However, dodging was much different from hiding. The ground rumbled underneath the Arcanine as another Dragon Rage came roaring out of the hole Spitfyre had crawled into, threatening to hit the Arcanine if he didn't move quickly.
  11. {Arthur, Arial, & Ken} The blue-haired boy nodded and took a seat next to Ken and Arial. Arthur nodded in understanding as the two discussed their theories. Shadow Duels? Wasn't there some old story with Yugi Moto and Shadow Duels? he thought to himself. He shook it off, thinking the connection might be a little far fetched. After contemplating her testimony, Arthur leaned forward and looked to each of his classmates. "Well, now that we're all here we might as well consolidate our knowledge. I'll admit mine's a little lacking comparatively, but I'm sure a fresh brain looking at your experiences might lead to some new insights." He looked upward for a moment, collecting his thoughts. "All I know is that some stuff went down at the docks last night. I ran into that samurai guy as well, but he didn't give me much info. I was in contact with Zander the whole time, though. And like I said, I dueled Arclight. He gave me a new prototype Duel Gazer. It's incredible," he added. "Now, Arial, since you said your story might take a bit, let's hear what information Ken has. That way we're all free to make connections. And then Arial will go."
  12. {Arthur, Arial, Ken} Arthur doubled over in pain, squeezing his eyes shut and clutching his head as the vision played out in his mind. He wasn't even able to fully process it until it was over thanks to that blistering headache, but as quickly as it came it ended. The blue-haired boy opened his eyes tentatively, observing the confusion around him. I think they all had the same thing as I did, he thought in wonder, but wasn't fully ready to believe it until he had more solid evidence. He looked over to the girl who'd helped organize the investigation the day before. Arial?, he thought as he tried to remember her name. If anyone will know something about what just happened, it's her, he decided. He stood up and walked over to her and Ken, looking anxiously from side to side. "Seems like a lot of people got that headache. I figured since you were organizing the investigation after school yesterday, you might know something," he said tentatively.
  13. {Investigation Group} "An ancient card?" Arthur asked, patronizing Charlotte. "I know there's been some weird stuff going on, but come on. You really think that's the answer?" he questioned.
  14. {Jacob, Danielle, Ryan, & Sawsbuck} Arete giggled as she fluttered upward, getting far enough for the Roselia's antics not to harm her. After all, she'd been watching the prank the first time. What did the Roselia think was going to happen?
  15. {Jacob, Danielle, Ryan, & Sawsbuck} Jacob blinked a few times at the events, then chuckled. "Nice to see you too, Ryan. And no, I think we've pretty much resolved the issue." He then looked at the Roselia, cocking his head sideways. "Hey, Ryan, why don't you catch that Roselia? If it's put you through so much trouble it might be worth having on your team," he said thoughtfully. Meanwhile, Arete fluttered around Avis and the Roselia, waiting to see what would happen next.
  16. {Jacob vs. Slade} We won't get anywhere in this tournament if we're not willing to endure hardship. No pain, no gain! Jacob thought to himself as he readied his next attack. "Alright, Spitfyre, just like we practiced. Use our defensive strategies!" the Trainer ordered. The Charmeleon nodded and braced for impact as the fiery canine came barreling into him. He moved his tail in front of him, wincing as the attack landed on his appendage. However, now he had the Arcanine right where he wanted him. The Charmeleon dug his claws into the dog's mane. His chest turned blue as he readied another Dragon Rage, then unleashed it at Flare at close range.
  17. {Jacob vs. Slade} He's gonna have to think a little faster than that if he wants to stand a ghost of a chance. We've been training for weeks and I'm not losing this tournament anytime soon, Jacob thought, reaffirming his convictions and pumping his fist backward. "Now, snap the trap shut! Finish Gamma Two, then enact Tronjheim!" the Trainer shouted, proud of how well Spitfyre was doing so far. The Charmeleon smirked lightly as Flare fell for the bait. He slid his left leg back, his chest beginning to swell while he continued backward as the Arcanine lunged forward. The Fire-type ended up directly above Spitfyre, his abdomen exposed to attack. A blue energy blast in the shape of a dragon's head erupted from Spitfyre's mouth and directly at Flare's underside.
  18. {Zander and anyone else relevant} Arthur raised his hand, looking toward Zander. "I went to the docks last night with Setsuna and Dominick, but I didn't find anything. All I did was get trounced by Mr. Arclight in a duel," he said unhappily.
  19. {Jacob vs. Slade} Jacob laughed quietly. "Hey, you don't have to compliment your opponents. Let's get this show on the road, huh?" he said excitedly. His battle nerves were kicking in. It's funny, he thought as everything felt like it was moving a little slower. I get this adrenaline surge every time Spitfyre and I go into battle together. It's almost addictive, he pondered. Then, he smiled, ready to start. His Charmeleon looked nearly unfazed by the Intimidate, if anything growing more resolute at the Arcanine's attempt to make him nervous. Still, the passion in the other Fire-types made him nervous. This could be a tough battle after all. "Alright, Spits, let's do this! We're done with our qualifiers now, so it's time to get serous. Maneuver Gamma Two, go!" he declared. ================================ {Accumula Town, Robertson House} Jacob's parents and uncle were dumbstruck when their little boy claimed he hadn't been serious the whole tournament so far. "You mean... He was just playing with those other two when he wiped the floor with them?" his father asked slowly, scarcely believing the change that had come over his son. The boy who'd left not a year ago hadn't seemed like the type to hold back. Unless... he thought. "He's using one-offs," his uncle breathed, looking toward Jacob's father. "Disposable strategies meant to be used once and for surprise value. But he's only a first-year," the man continued. "He's way ahead of the curve. I don't think this Kafkin boy knows what he's in for." ================================ {Jacob vs. Slade} The Charmeleon leapt into action with startling speed, moving toward the Arcanine rapidly. The Charmeleon began spewing smoke like a locomotive as he went, the dark-colored haze blanketing the battlefield in a low-vision environment. Spitfyre's tail began to glow white and he jumped into the air, landing just before the Fire-hound and swinging his tail while keeping his feet pointed perpendicularly to the Arcanine's line of sight.
  20. {Jacob, Danielle, & Sawsbuck} Jacob looked toward Danielle, putting a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry. He's just asking questions. I'm sure he wants to know just as much as we do." More quietly, he whispered, "You can just feel the power radiating off of him. I'd love a chance for Spitfyre to battle him someday, but maybe not while something so serious is going on."
  21. {Jacob vs. Slade} Jacob looked toward the field anxiously. Well, I'm glad I at least know how to play The Floor Is Lava, he joked in an attempt to defuse his nerves. No matter who I pick other than Spitfyre, they're gonna have a hard time. But Teo's light enough to get thrown onto those bars, whereas Chalchi's an immovable object. I guess I'll have to play a different game than usual, he thought to himself. Still, no matter what I'm using Teo for the next round. There's no way I'm winning this tournament and not sharing the glory with my best friend! The Trainer, having decided on his team, took the two Balls off his belt. He grinned and looked at the Capsule on each Ball. They're gonna love these, he noted proudly. "Alright, Spitfyre, let's show'em what we're made of! Come out and play!" he shouted loudly enough for the cameras to hear. He tossed Spitfyre's Ball in the air. It opened as it sailed toward the battlefield, releasing the Charmeleon in a swirling vortex of orange and blue flames. Spitfyre landed adroitly on the field and roared a challenge at Slade, sending a gout of flame into the sky.
  22. {Jacob, Danielle, and Sawsbuck) Jacob met the Sawsbuck's gaze until it softened, his respect for the Pokemon having grown to new heights. The Sawsbuck was determined to protect its family no matter what, and that was an idea the young Trainer could get behind. "Sawsbuck, we think that bad people are going to show up at the school soon. We don't know who they are, but they're trying to take something from the Academy. We just wanted to warn you so that you can make sure none of the Pokemon in the forest get captured and forced to work with bad people."
  23. Whatever the case is, I won't be able to post until tomorrow night so you have some time to figure it out and let me know @Chim.
