Welcome one, welcome all!

If you're here to read about a pointless wall of words, look no further. Be it not pointless, but a guide on Pokémon Reborn. n__n

Without further ado, Ame gave me the "okay I won't stop you from doing this", soooooo.

Friendly word of advice, the guide is cut off right before the Beryl Ward storyline, the guide continues in the pinned thread's second post. For reference; http://www.pokemonreborn.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=8017 will directly link you to the ongoing thread! Thanks for your continuing support, if you have any questions, suggestions, add-ons or need any help, please reply in the Discussion thread or send me a PM! :)

For reference; I'm doing this while playing through Reborn once again. If anything is missing or inconsistent, please let me know through a PM or comment on the topic so I can edit the guide.

Author's notepad

4/1/2014, Note0: Table of Contents on its way. (Making it while I'm writing the guide.)
4/3/2014 Note1: I use these as means for short notes; I'll try to update this guide every day by adding bits and pieces whenever possible. I'll keep note/track of what I'm doing in Reborn and will be using this as general means to "guide" this guide.
4/4/2014 Note2: The spoilers usually have useful information. You miiiiiiiight wanna click them.
4/5/2014 Note3: Hidden item locations are being worked on the best I can, I've sadly not screenshotted the ones I collected since the beginning of the game, up until my current location, being the Onyx Ward. I've screenshotted a few in the Onyx Ward though. More will follow, quite possibly with a new save file just to get the ones I've missed in the Peridot/Opal Ward!

4/6/2014 Note4: Julia's lineup is complete, I hope my movesets are correct. Thanks Mikzal!
4/7/2014 Note5: Added Wild Pokémon Encounter lists for Opal/Peridot Ward, Obsidia Ward's encounter list coming up as soon as the area is written up. Also made note of wild Pokémon's evolutions, evolution levels, method of evolution, typing, evolution typing.. Trying to do some research with regards to Victoria's 2nd encounter.. Which isn't proving much help as of late.
4/8/2014 Note6: Due to net failure yesterday, not much was done with regards to content, Victoria's lineup however, was completed, and the Obsidia Slums was added to the guide. Next update will feature the short Coral Ward area, then proceed to the Obsidia Park area.
4/9/2014 Note7: Added Coral Ward area, guide finished post-Obsidia Park!

4/11/2014 Note8: Finished the Obsidia Ward for as it is, Onyx Ward/OTS in progress!

4/12/2014 Note9: Onyx Ward complete! Added encounter list for Obsidia Ward/Slums/Park. Onyx Ward/OTS has full info on Fern/Florinia, as well as answers to the questions asked inside OTS.

4/14/2014 Note10: Minor updates in encounter lists and some additions. Added Jasper Ward/Malchous Forest encounter lists. Guide now reads up to the end of the Jasper Ward area! Also made note of post-PULSE Jasper Ward events that opened up.

4/17/2014 Note11: Moved around a few things, made some edits and a bit of clarification on some event-only Pokémon. (Props to Mikzal, once again n___n)

To make things useful, using the search function (Ctrl + F), and typing in the word in the brackets, your page will automatically skip and highlight the word you were searching. Makes things a lot more convenient if you're stuck or looking for a specific piece of information.

Quick words of advice;

Whenever I give directions to a certain area, I tend to use North/East/South/West as indication. Respectively, these words mean Up/Right/Down/Left.

Introduction

Welcome to Pokémon Reborn, where wild Pokémon have gone nearly extinct, yet you're given the possibility to customize your team by catching wild Pokémon regardless!
This first section will generally introduce you to the game, with controls being the first thing to get an explanation. (These can be found in the readme.txt file in the Pokémon Reborn zip/rar files as well.)

Where you can actually ride around on a Tauros.

Let's actually start playing the game now, shall we?

The actual game [Game.01]

You are welcomed by Professor Amethyst, Ame for short. After you've chosen your gender and name, the game continues, until..

Narrowly escaping what could have been a disaster (and possibly an instant game over), Ame leaves you in the hands of Julia, a cheerful cheerleader who likes an explosion every now and then. This explosion however, was not her doing.

Carrying on, you are to walk east, across the Opal Ward, until you are stopped by a blonde trainer in red, claiming you cannot pass Opal Bright until you've acquired your own Pokémon, which was the actual thing you were supposed to get first.

Walk up, into the big building, then continue to follow through with the matter at hand.

Talking to a lady NPC just outside the Grand Hall nets you a free Potion! (Thanks for the tip, Lost Lore!)

Before entering however, a girl named Victoria greets you, saying she will assist you at registering for the Reborn League.

Professor Ame will take you downstairs to her special room, where you have a choice to choose from 18 Pokémon. Each table has a different color, being green, red and blue.

From left to right, per table;

Green table;

Bulbasaur / Chikorita / Treecko / Turtwig / Snivy / Chespin

Red table;

Charmander / Cyndaquil / Torchic / Chimchar / Tepig / Fennekin

Blue table;

Squirtle / Totodile / Mudkip / Piplup / Oshawott / Froakie

As you can see from this set-up, every starter from generations 1 through 6 are available. You can only pick one, so pick wisely.

After you've chosen your Pokémon and go back up the stairs, Victoria will pick her Pokémon, saying she has already determined what starter she wants to choose. Her starter is always the same. After she walks down, you are greeted by a boy in purple, he introduces himself as Cain, stating he wants to register for the Reborn League as well.

Cain will talk to you about Pokémon having "abilities you could only dream of Pokémon could have", meaning that you can get a specific Pokémon's Dream World ability, be it at random. (That's what the soft-reset key F12 is for! Utilize this handy trick if you want a DW ability -coughProteanFroakiecough-)

Required battle!

Player vs. "Pretty Boy Cain"

Cain will send out a Level 5 Nidoran (M) to battle your starter. Basic moveset; Scratch and Leer. It's not the fastest Pokémon, but slower starters like Mudkip/Tepig will most likely be outsped.
Note; Beware of the Poison Point!

You'll gain 83 Exp. Points if you defeat Cain's Nidoran.

After defeating Cain (or not), he takes you to the built-in Pokémon Center to heal your Pokémon up to full health.

After that, Professor Ame and Victoria walk up to you, and Victoria initiates a battle with you, while Professor Ame takes Cain to get registered/set-up for the Reborn League.

Required battle!

Player vs. "Apprentice Victoria"

Victoria will send out a Level 5 Tepig. Basic moveset; Tackle and Tail Whip. Again, it's not exactly that fast, but it's a bit more bulky compared to Cain's Nidoran (M).

You'll gain 38 Exp. Points upon defeating Victoria's Tepig.
Note; This varies between every starter! I've run a check on this, a Charmander gained 85 Exp. Points due to the exp table being different from other starters!

After the battle with Victoria, Cain passes by, saying that Professor Ame is waiting for both you and Victoria to wrap up the Reborn League registration.
You're automatically controlled to walk towards Professor Ame, who will give you 3 things; A Pokédex, the PokéGear and a pair of Running Shoes. Thanks for the free sneakers, Silph Co.! Victoria will give you 5 Poké Balls as token of friendship, and then leaves you to actually start your journey.

First thing you can do is to buy Potions and probably an Antidote or two, maybe some more Poké Balls from the shop on your right side. (Walk down and right to the store clerk)

If you check the PC, then go to your Mailbox and Withdraw Item, you can find a free Potion inside there as well! Don't ask how a Potion fits inside of a computer, just nod and smile. (Thanks for the tip, ~Derpy Simon!)

Also, if you want to change your character's looks, in the top-left of the Grand Hall, you can see and NPC that looks exactly like you. Interact with it and you can change your looks to the alternate version of your sprite. Beware that this is only available up until Episode 12 is officially released! (Thanks for pointing that NPC out, Autumn Breeze!)

Orrrrrr. You can buy a Pokémon for $500. Near the exit, there's a Fisherman bragging about an amazing Pokémon he has caught and how powerful it is. You can pay $500 to obtain one of these awesome Pokémon.

It's a Magikarp.

Only to find it stolen from you instantly by a thug lurking at the purchase! Yes, theft is actually a thing. The Fisherman tells you that thugs like this guy tend to hang around the end of the Peridot Ward railroad tracks, which isn't too far from where you are right now.

You can find the thug in the Peridot Ward, by following the tracks that lead from Peridot Station all the way up north into a house. To actually get the Pokémon back, you will have to pay him $5000!

Once you exit the building, a cutscene occurs. The culprit who was responsible for bombing Peridot Station was caught and is being interrogated under the Grand Hall.. He refuses to talk, though- And ends up in a rather painful situation..

The game continues with you just outside the Grand Hall, where you can find wild Pokémon on the left and right sides of the building.

Wild Pokémon encounters in Opal Ward:

Pidgey (Normal/Flying) - Evolves into Pidgeotto (Normal/Flying) at level 18, evolves into Pidgeot (Normal/Flying) at level 36.
Rattata (Normal) - Evolves into Raticate (Normal) at level 20.
Ekans (Poison) - Evolves into Arbok (Poison) at level 22.

Patrat (Normal) - Evolves into Watchog (Normal) at level 20.
Meowth (Normal) - Evolves into Persian (Normal) at level 28.
Bidoof (Normal) - Evolves into Bibarel (Normal/Water) at level 15.
Hoothoot (Normal/Flying) (Night) - Evolves into Noctowl (Normal/Flying) at level 20.
Spinarak (Bug/Poison) (Night) - Evolves into Ariados (Bug/Poison) at level 22.

Pidgey and Meowth are probably the best options to get for early on.

There's a scientist trainer on the right side if you want some quick experience in.

You're stopped by a girl and her Snubbull, who refuses to obey because the girl doesn't own a badge. -hinthint- Her Snubbull will run off and she'll chase it. Remember this girl, she will be useful in the future!

Moving on, you can now access Opal Bridge by talking to the Youngster on the left side of the Grand Hall, or the Ace Trainer on the right side. Loop around the bridge and fight every single trainer you see, you need the experience. About halfway across Opal Bridge, you can see 3 trainers surrounding a Pachirisu or a Panpour. You can battle the Youngster, but without at least 1 more Pokémon, you can't battle the other 2.

Upon defeating the two trainers holding Pachirisu or Panpour hostage, you can talk to Pachirisu/Panpour to have it join your party!

Loop around the Opal Bridge and continue west towards an open gap near Peridot Station, where you can walk up and walk into the Peridot Ward. On the left side, you can find a Pokémon Center, so you don't have to walk back to the Grand Hall to heal up every time.
Circle around to find the Gym with a note attached to it in a rather.. Unusual message. It says to head to the Factory to meet up with the rest.

You can do this, or open up the following spoiler to learn of several events in the Peridot Ward.

Ralts event: To obtain Ralts, you need to pay the drunk person laying in front of an alley several times. He asks for $50 "change" several times until he decides to move and sleep in the alley. Enter the house he was guarding to find a lonely Ralts. To obtain Ralts, you need something to gain its trust first. In the north-west area of the Peridot Ward, there's a PokéSnax seller, willing to sell a batch for $650. Pick up 1 or 2 batches before heading back to Ralts. Feed Ralts a PokéSnax and it will join you.

Electrike event: Electrike is only available during either a stormy or rainy night. That being said, if you walk up to Julia's Gym, you can see it walking around the antenna's. The trick to battling it is to either approach it from behind to startle it, or to make it run down to the pile of rocks á-la GSC Farfetch'd. Protip; If it has Lightningrod (which you can soft-reset for before battling it), Julia will practically be a walk in the park.

Pansear event: Under the Opal Bridge, during a rainy and windy night, you can find a Pansear trying to hide from the rain. With a batch of PokéSnax, you can have it join your team. If you need a fire-type early on, Pansear is kinda meh, but it'll do for a while. To get under the Opal Bridge, head west from the Peridot Ward's Pokémon Center, follow the tracks up until they split north and east. Follow the tracks east to get under the Opal Bridge.

Teddiursa event: Teddiursa appears randomly in the Peridot Ward, once you approach it, it will run away and hide somewhere in the Peridot Ward. After it disappears from the Peridot Ward, proceed east under the Opal Ward's Opal Bridge (where Pansear's event is initiated), Teddiursa will be there to battle you, where you can catch it.)

Onix event: One of the empty houses in the Peridot Ward will have a Hiker inside, he will say that he moved in because it seemed empty to him and he will give you an Onix (as means of bribe, I reckon). (Clarification is needed what house it is/when this gets triggered!)

Whismur event: Another one of the empty houses in the Peridot Ward will have a scared Whismur inside as well, startled by you, it attacks to defend itself, where you can capture it.

Panpour or Pachirisu event: In the West Peridot Ward, there is an apartment with a crazy Pokémon running about on the ground floor. Whichever Pokémon you did not save from the bullies will be running around like crazy. Try to catch it in its path and it will attack you.

Budew event: Near the North Peridot Ward gates, a Budew will wander around as if lost, during night-time. It'll be walking around the sides of the rails, interacting with it triggers a battle.

Cleffa/Igglybuff event: During night-time, head to the abandoned building in the West Peridot Ward. You will find Team Meteor members mutter about a plan to steal Pokémon. Go back and find the lady who has a Cleffa and Igglybuff, and you will encounter the Team Meteor Members there. Battle them both and the lady will reward you with one of her Pokémon.

Snubbull event: Remember the girl with the Snubbull that ran away before? Once you obtain your 2nd badge, go back to the West Peridot Ward, find her in one of the apartments and she will offer you her Snubbull.

Trade events:

The only trade available to you right now is the Bibarel trade. In the North Peridot Ward, near where the train tracks end (see Magikarp theft event), there's a trainer willing to trade the Pokémon he has right now for a Bibarel, because he doesn't want to level up what he has right now. If you bring him a Bibarel, you will obtain a Litleo!

In one of the apartments in the Lower Peridot Ward, you can find a trainer with a Kricketot, worried because Kricketot doesn't seem happy at all. A girl named Shelly will look at Kricketot and come to the conclusion it needs to be outside more often. The trainer offers you her Kricketot after this scene.

Remember the train tracks that lead into Reborn? Behind Peridot Station? If you go back to that area and search the houses, you can find a Fisherman who is about to pack his things and leave the city. Tell him you're interested in fishing and he will give you an Old Rod. You can fish with this Old Rod to capture Grimer (Poison) in non-purified water. (Thanks PerfectMafia!)

Directly north of Peridot Station, there is a hidden water tank with several Water-type Pokémon you can fish for. No Magikarps, mostly Goldeen/Finneon.

Directly west of the Peridot Ward's Pokémon Center, you can find the Name Rater's house, if you so choose to rename your Pokémon.

Peridot Ward's Underground railnet (very small area), has the following Pokémon you can capture;

Geodude (Rock/Ground) - Evolves into Graveler (Rock/Ground) at Level 25, Evolves into Golem (Rock/Ground) by using a Linkstone. (Rock Smash only?)
Woobat (Psychic/Flying) - Evolves into Swoobat (Psychic/Flying) when Happiness level is above 220.
Stunky (Dark/Poison) - Evolves into Skuntank (Dark/Poison) at Level 34.
Noibat (Dragon/Flying) - Evolves into Noivern (Dragon/Flying) at Level 48.

Around the Peridot Ward, you can obtain the following Pokémon;

Koffing (Poison) (Alleyways only) - Evolves into Weezing (Poison) at Level 35.
Poochyena (Dark) (Alleyways only) - Evolves into Mightyena (Dark) at Level 18
Trubbish (Poison) (Peridot Pokémon Garden at night or Alleyways throughout the day) - Evolves into Garbodor (Poison) at Level 36.
Purrloin (Dark) (Alleyways in North Peridot Ward) - Evolves into Liepard (Dark) at Level 20.
Espurr (Psychic) (Alleyways in North Peridot Ward) - Evolves into Meowstic (Psychic) at Level 25.
Goldeen (Water) (Hidden reservoir) - Evolves into Seaking (Water) at Level 33.
Ledyba (Bug/Flying) (Peridot Pokémon Garden) - Evolves into Ledian (Bug/Flying) at Level 18.
Budew (Grass/Poison) (Peridot Pokémon Garden) - Evolves into Roselia (Grass/Poison) when Happiness is above 220 during daytime, evolves into Roserade (Grass/Poison) with a Shiny Stone.
Cherubi (Grass) (Peridot Pokémon Garden) - Evolves into Cherrim (Grass) at Level 25.
Stunky (Dark/Poison) (Peridot Pokémon Garden at night) - Evolves into Skuntank (Dark/Poison) at Level 34.
Surskit (Bug/Water) (Rainy days only) Check the fountain in West Peridot Ward (2 Youngsters are staring at the fountain) - Evolves into Masquerain (Bug/Flying) at Level 22.

Numel (Ground/Fire) Only available after defeating Florinia, only appears during rainy days in the West Peridot Ward.

Whismur (Normal) Wandering about in one of the abandoned houses around the Peridot Ward, it'll attack you once you interact with it. - Evolves into Loudred (Normal) at Level 20, evolves into Exploud (Normal) at Level 40.

There are a lot of trainers in the Peridot Ward, I suggest you battle every single one you can find.

From the Peridot Ward's Pokémon Center, head west and follow the train tracks up north. Once you see an old lady on the left side, follow that street to find the Poké Mart.

Poké Mart items:

Potion $300 - Heals 20 HP
Antidote $100 - Cures Poisoning
Paralyz Heal $200 - Cures Paralysis
Burn Heal $250 - Cures a Burn
Escape Rope $550 - Allows you to escape from a cave/dungeon instantly
Poké Ball $200 - Device used to capture wild Pokémon. (1x Capture rate) (Buying 10 or more will give you 1 free Premier Ball as bonus)

Head west from the Poké Mart to find a big factory and a guy with green hair who thinks he's all that swaggy.

Meet Fern, your main rival in Reborn and a pain in the ass.

He says he's waiting for "them", stating that they might have gone to the other factory up north instead of this one.

And of course, he wants to battle you as a way of introduction. Don't underestimate this guy, he's quite strong at this point in the game.

Required battle!

Player vs. "Swag Jockey Fern"

Team lineup:

Lotad - Water/Grass (Lv. 10) - Possible Abilities - Swift Swim / Rain Dish / Own Tempo
Absorb / Growl / Astonish / Nature Power

Lotad is slow, but it has reasonable defense. Not to mention, it only has 3 weaknesses, Bug, Poison and Flying.
If you have something with Peck/Gust/Poison Sting, you'll be fine. Be extremely careful around Nature Power. Just a heads-up.

Snivy - Grass (Lv. 12) - Possible Abilities - Growth / Contrary
Tackle / Leer / Vine Whip / Wrap

Snivy is a rather fast Grass-type Pokémon. With Vine Whip as main STAB move, combined with Leer and Wrap, it might give you some trouble. Same applies as with Lotad, any Poison/Flying type Pokémon can take it out easily.

Budew - Grass/Poison (Lv. 13) - Possible Abilities: Natural Cure / Poison Point / Leaf Guard
Growth / Mega Drain / Water Sport / Stun Spore

Budew is fast for being so tiny. It also has Growth and Stun Spore, so if you're really unlucky with the para-hax.. You're in for a world of hurt.

This guy likes to brag. A lot. If you started with a Fire-type (or picked up that Pansear), you'll have no issues with this guy. If you went with a water-type that isn't Froakie with Protean, this could be a problem. If you've caught a Pidgey, you'll be fine. A grass starter just- Walls this guy completely, aside from Snivy's Tackle.

Alternatively, if you have trouble beating Fern, which is required, you can keep walking east under the Opal Bridge to find a caved-in area with shadowy figures on the floor. Triggering these result in a wild Pokémon encounter of Woobat most of the time, rarely a Noibat. Noibat can be found by walking around in that area as well, which is a Dragon/Flying type with high SpAtk/Speed, but low Atk/Def. It learns Gust relatively early as well.

Anywayssss. Assuming you've defeated Fern, he bails on you, saying he'll head to the other factory. Heal up at the nearest Pokémon Center and proceed to the other factory in the Peridot Ward.

Julia will accompany you before you can even enter the building, saying she'll find a way to get in. You miiiight wanna step back before she explodes your face off while trying to open the door.

Upon entering, mister "bigshot" and his sister, Florinia enter the scene as well, explaining the cause of the poisoned Azurine Lake.
You're split in two parties, guess who you're stuck, I mean- Teamed up with? Mister bigshot himself. He'll have the team you've faced not too long ago to accompany you while you both try to make your way through the factory.

Note; Your Pokémon are fully healed after every battle, no need to worry about items/healing!

Inside the factory, you face Team Meteor Grunts in pairs, meaning you fight alongside Fern while trying to get to the bottom of things.

The first pair of Team Meteor Grunts shouldn't be much of a problem.

The path splits after the first pair of Meteor Grunts, head north and trigger the far right computer to unlock the elevator to the east. After unlocking the gate, proceed east and battle the 2 other pairs of Grunts, then proceed through the door.

The second pair of Grunts actually says "You shall not pass!" n__n

There's another pair of Team Meteor Grunts waiting for you after entering the elevator. Proceed south and unlock the door with the computer, then head east and battle the other pair of Team Meteor Grunts, then proceed south through the door.

You meet up again with Florinia and Julia, in front of a big door. Florinia tries to hack into the system- But Julia disagrees and asks you to find some kabooms to forcefully gain entrance.. So let's go find some kabooms!

Exit south and battle the Team Meteor Grunts waiting for you, then circle around and battle the other pair of Team Meteor Grunts, and pick up the box of kabooms, then return to Julia and Florinia.

Julia will set off the kabooms- Just a second too late. Florinia hacks the system and Julia is left without kaboom action.

Poor girl.

Meet an unknown man, with two more Team Meteor Grunts. Florinia thought she hacked into the system- But this man simply admits to the fact he grew tired of waiting for us to get to where they were. All their mission data had been deleted from the system, so nobody would find out what they are planning.

This unknown man calls upon his Grunts, to deal with Fern and yourself, being called "small fries", while he is to deal with the Gym Leaders.

Required battle!

Player & Swag Jockey Fern vs Aster & Eclipse

Aster and Eclipse have 2 Pokémon total, this is their lineup:

Aster:
Elekid - Electric (Level 16) - Possible Abilities: Static / Vital Spirit

Swift / Shock Wave / Low Kick / Thundershock

Elekid is a fast Electric type. Ideally, taking it out first is probably your main priority.

Eclipse:
Magby - Fire (Level 16) - Possible Abilities: Flame Body / Vital Spirit

Fire Spin / Feint Attack / Smokescreen / Ember

I hope for your sake it doesn't have Flame Body if you have to use contact moves to take out this Magby, Flame Body may induce a burn, which cuts your Attack stat in half. It's one of the faster Fire types as well, so be careful.

Upon defeating Aster & Eclipse, you receive a message from the unknown man, saying that you've made a strong enemy. As they say, it's better to keep your friends close, but your enemies even closer.. And Team Meteor isn't very far away.

And of course, with Julia liking her kabooms- (and being upset she couldn't boom the door before).. Run. Now. Don't worry, it's automated. Though she does destroy the entire factory with a few stacks of TNT.

After this cutscene, I'm assuming your team has a bunch of level 15's, maybe one or two level 16's, or if you've overdone it, perhaps a level 18-19 starter? If you feel confident about taking on Julia, keep reading!

After all this hoopla, I think it's about time to take on the first gym, don't you agree?

From the factory, head south and follow the tracks, then head east when the tracks split. From where the lady is sitting on a few grass patches, head south and then east towards the big building. (You can't really miss it, it's decorated with pink ribbons..)

Recommendation; At least 2 level 16+ Pokémon and at least 1 or 2 level 18-19 Pokémon. Do not go past level 20, or level up past 20 while battling in the gym, or your Pokémon will stop obeying!

Once you head inside, you can see a shutter, which is closed. The gimmick of the gym is to find the Voltorbs spread across the gym to "open" every shutter. The Voltorbs are all guarded by a gym trainer.

Head east and north to find the first gym trainer and Voltorb. Bring the Voltorb to the door and interact with it to blow it to smithereens.

The next Voltorb is within sight, so beat the trainer and proceed to blow up the other door.

After that, the next Voltorb is due west of you, so beat the gym trainer and bring the Voltorb to the door and make it go kaboom!

Circle around east and beat the last gym trainer, then bring the Voltorb towards the last door to explode it to tiny bits, then proceed to go to the next room to find Julia!

Once you step into the room, you'll find a lot of.. Glowing tiles..

Continue and walk up to Julia to initiate your first Gym battle!

Gym Battle!

Player vs. Cheer Captain Julia

Julia has a full team of 6 Pokémon, as all upcoming Gym Leaders in Reborn will have as well, her lineup consists of a bunch of Electric type Pokémon.
Something to definitely make note of, is that there is a special field effect in this Gym battle.

If you want to know what the extra effects are from this field effect, you can find them in the readme.txt in the Pokémon Reborn files, or just click on this;

Hyper-charged field effects: Pokémon physically in contact with the ground cannot fall asleep.
Electric-type moves from grounded Pokémon, such as Electrike, have their base power increased by 1.5, meaning a Thundershock, with 40 BP, will be 60 BP. (BP = Base Power)
The following moves have an Electric-type effect added to them (meaning that these moves have 2 types of effect if they have another type; Explosion, Selfdestruct, Surf, Smack Down, Muddy Water and Hurricane.
Focus Punch will always fail.
The following move gains twice the stat-changing effect: Charge (The Special Def increase goes from +1 to +2).
The move Magnet Rise lasts for 8 turns.
Selfdestruct and Explosion gain a 1.3x increase in power. (This is extremely dangerous, knowing Julia likes her kabooms!)
The move Magnet Bomb doubles in power.
Nature Power becomes Thunderbolt if used in this battle.
Mud Sport will terminate this field effect.

Let's get to Julia's lineup, shall we?

Cheer Captain Julia:

Helioptile - Electric/Normal (Level 12) - Ability: Dry Skin
Glare / Charge Beam / Thundershock / Mud-Slap

Voltorb - Electric (Level 12) - Ability: Aftermath
Charge Beam / Explosion / Sonicboom / Rollout

Voltorb - Electric (Level 12) - Ability: Aftermath
Charge Beam / Explosion / Sonicboom / Rollout

Emolga - Electric/Flying (Level 13) - Possible Abilities: Static/Motor Drive
Charge Beam / Acrobatics / Quick Attack / Nuzzle

Blitzle - Electric - Level 13 - Possible Abilities: Lightningrod / Motor Drive / Sap Sipper
Charge Beam / Flame Charge / Quick Attack / Thunder Wave

Electrode - Electric - Level 15 - Ability: Aftermath
Charge Beam / Rollout / Charge / Sonicboom

Movesets slightly changed due to new information, hopefully this information is correct now!

Are you intimidated by her team yet? Because if you're not, you should be. Ame really wanted things to start off with a bang, so she gave 2 of Julia's Pokémon the most powerful move there is, Explosion.

Explosion packs a whopping 250 Base Power and is guaranteed to knock out anything that doesn't resist it, in this case a Ghost or Electric-type Pokémon. (Don't forget, the field makes it that Explosion is now a dual-type move, Electric and Normal, thus Electric types resist it, while Ghost types are immune to it.)

Julia also has 2 Potions to use throughout the battle, she may use one when one of her Pokémon goes under 25-50% HP.

First off, her leading Pokémon is that Helioptile. Do not use any Water-type moves against it, it will only heal Helioptile. Second off, it's immune to Ghost-type moves (such as Lick) due to its normal-typing. To take it out fast, a Mach Punch from a Monferno, or a Double Kick from a Combusken should do the trick.

Depending on the situation, she will send out a Voltorb or Emolga after.

Emolga is an Electric/Flying type, with reasonable speed. I advise to not use Electric-type attacks, but anything else you have that can hit it hard. It has access to Acrobatics, so be careful if you're trying to put a Grass-type up against it.

Both her Voltorbs are fast, and they pack quite the punch. Charge Beam may raise Sp. Atk after being used, which will increase the damage done by that Explosion if she uses it before you defeat the Voltorbs. They also have Sonicboom, which always does 20 damage, usually 50% or more of what your current Pokémon's max HP is.

Blitzle is basically her Grass-counter, with Flame Charge. Flame Charge will increase its speed by 1 stage, plus it has that Charge Beam to possibly raise Sp. Atk. It has frail defenses, so make use of that!

Finally, the mother of big kabooms, Electrode. Electrode will definitely outspeed anything you have on your team that doesn't have a priority move, like Quick Attack, or a Speed Boost Combusken with 2, maybe 3 Speed Boosts.

This is a very harsh battle. It might take you 2, maybe even 3 tries to get this victory. If you need more experience, loop around the Opal Ward and Peridot Ward, try to find trainers you've fought before, they might want to battle you again.

If you're really having trouble with Julia; here are a few tips and pointers from other Reborners including myself that might help you out.

Countering Julia:

Aside from Julia's Helioptile, everything she has is susceptible to Ghost-type moves. Almost half her team consists of Pokémon with the move Explosion, so if you have a Protean Froakie/Frogadier with Lick (which Froakie gets at Level 10), you can use that on anything that isn't Helioptile and hope you can provoke the Voltorbs to use Explosion, so it won't affect you!

Lightningrod Ability:
If you have the event Electrike, scroll back up to see how you can obtain it, level it up to 17 or so, so you can have Howl and Quick Attack/Tackle to do some good neutral damage to Julia's team.
Alternatively, you can fish for Goldeen in the hidden water reservoir in West Peridot Ward. To get there, go to the Peridot Station and enter Peridot Ward directly next to the Station, then immediately turn left and go into the second house to find a Fisherman guarding a door. Defeat the Fisherman and you gain access to his fishing pond, where you can fish with a Rod. (Goldeen may have Lightningrod as Ability, and seeing the AI goes for Electric-type moves on a Water-type Pokémon, you can use this to your advantage!)

If you want to try and stall her out, pick up a Trubbish from one of the various alleyways around the Peridot Ward. Trubbish learns Toxic Spikes at level 7 and can be stacked up to 2 times. The first layer induces normal Poison, using another layer incudes Toxic on every incoming switch.

Another useful Pokémon at this point can be the Pachirisu you've saved from being bullied (if you didn't get Panpour instead), as Pachirisu can get Volt Absorb, making Julia almost completely walled. Pachirisu has high stats for this point of the game due to it not evolving.

Thanks for the tips on Goldeen/Trubbish/Pachirisu, GottaLoveShuckle!

If anyone else has any tips and tricks to get around Julia (or any other upcoming Gym Leaders), feel free to send me a PM!

After defeating Julia, you get the Volt Badge and a TM57 for Charge Beam. The Volt Badge allows Pokémon up to level 25 to obey your every command in battle, it also allows you to use the HM01 Cut anytime outside of battle.

..And then Julia takes a nap due to lack of coffee.

Once you exit the gym, you're being stopped by Victoria, and she mentions that the Obsidia Ward is being attacked by plants! Sounds strange.. Looks like we'll have to investigate. Victoria mentions Florinia is waiting for her near the Obsidia Ward and that she'll meet up with her there.

To access the Obsidia Ward, you have to cross the Opal Bridge and head east on it. (Trainers might re-battle you, they'll have stronger Pokémon.)

Once you walk up to the guards, you'll run into an old familiar face, Florinia. She will explain to the guards that she requires access to the Obsidia Ward, which she gets from the guards, leaving you behind- Or not. Due to the previous incident at the Peridot Ward, she requires your assistance in the matter as well, so the guards let you pass as well.

Welcome to..

The Obsidia Ward - Coral Ward [Game.02]

The Obsidia Ward is completely ravaged.. Plants are taking over the area completely, leaving nothing but a lot of cracked gaps in the ground.. We need to get to the bottom of this.

Upon entering the Obsidia Ward, the first building you encounter is a Pokémon Salon. If you enter the Salon, there will be 4 NPC ladies waiting inside.

The bottom left one will give the Pokémon in your first party slot a treatment for $1500 if you so wish.
The one right above her will check your Pokémon's Happiness level.
The lady in the middle will simply welcome you to "Central Obsidia's Salon".

The one on the right, however- Once you have a Pokémon with a max Happiness level (255), you can obtain a Vulpix. If you place a Pokémon with max Happiness in the first slot of your party and show it to the lady, she will ask you if you want to take Vulpix along. However, before you can obtain it, Vulpix will run away, not accepting you as trainer just yet. To actually obtain it, you have to chase it down to the Underground Railnet. To get there, head west from the Obsidia Ward's Pokémon Center, pass the first house and head north into the next house. Vulpix will sit there, then run away as you interact with it. Chase it down the stairs and..

Battle!

Player vs. Pokémon Mechanightmare

If you're not prepared for this battle, you miiiiiiiight wanna skip on getting Vulpix until you get to level 30+.

Klingklang - Steel (Level 45) - Possible Abilities: Plus / Minus / Clear Body

Mirror Shot

Discharge

Autotomize

Charge Beam

If you have any high-level Electric-type, you can pretty much wall this thing. Electric moves are neutral against it, Fire/Fighting/Ground type moves will pretty much decimate this thing.

Upon defeating this Klingklang, it'll flee and Vulpix will trust you as its new owner.

Tip; If you recall the strategy used at Julia, a Goldeen/Seaking with Lightningrod will be able to take this thing out relatively fast as well. The AI is set to make it use Super Effective moves whenever possible, so it'd only use Charge Beam and Discharge, giving you free SpAtk boosts every time it does. (Thanks for the reminder, Mikzal!)

Next to the Pokémon Salon, you will find Devon Corp. They have nothing of interest as of now, but the building next to them however..

This is basically a child's dream and paradise. Candy here, candy there.. Candy everywhere. Welcome to the Sweet Kiss Candy Shop.

Sweet Kiss Candy Shop has a variety of things, you can buy rather expensive Pokémon status cures, as well as Rare Candies and Common Candies.
However, your Pokémon will like you more if you feed them candy instead of the usual status healing items. (Candy increases happiness rate)

You can also obtain a Pokémon by solving a puzzle in the top-left of this candy store, but you need to have a slot in your party to obtain it. (The Pokémon you receive upon solving the puzzle is Swirlix, a pure Fairy-type Pokémon. You can get an infinite amount of these, as long as you keep solving the puzzle over and over again.)

Check out the price list for these sweets;

Common Candy $300 - Decreases the level of a Pokémon it's used on by 1. (You also lose stat gains from the level-up!)
Whipped Dream $1000 - Item needed to evolve Swirlix into Slurpuff. (It's a hold item, you need a Linkstone to actually evolve Swirlix.)
Peppermint $600 - Cures Poisoning
Chewing Gum $800 - Cures Paralysis
Pop Rocks $750 - Awakens a sleeping Pokémon
Salt-Water Taffy $850 - Cures a Pokémon's burn
Cotton Candy $6000 - Revives a fainted Pokémon
Rare Candy $20000 - Increases a Pokémon's level by 1.

The Rare Candies are expensive and at this point in the game, definitely not worth it. I doubt you even have that much cash at hand to obtain one anyways. Keep them in the back of your head, though. The rest of the items are just more expensive alternatives to the normal status healing items, but your Pokémon's Happiness level will increase a little bit when you use these candy-type healing items on them.

When you go north next to Devon Corp., you can see a Pokémon Center and a house blocked off by a tree. You can't get there just yet, but remember this house, it'll be extremely important soon enough!

Trade event: The first house west of the Pokémon Center has a girl wanting to trade her.. morphing thing.. For something cute, like a Furret. You can only obtain Sentret after clearing the Obsidia Park, plus they'll be very low level (I found mine at level 2), not to mention that they're rather rare. They reside in the cleared Obsidia Park (where the Hiker rests).

Once you obtain a Furret, you can trade it to her to get a Castform in return.

Zigzagoon event: Zigzagoon will randomly appear in the Obsidia Alleyway, it'll be digging through trash, interacting with it will cause it to attack you.

You can't proceed further up north, so head back down to the Sweet Kiss Candy Shop area, then proceed south-east towards the Obsidia Slums.

Before entering the Obsidia Slums, there's a trainer waiting for you, defeat him and continue south towards the edge to be stopped by..

Required battle!

Player vs. Apprentice Victoria

She has 3 Pokémon this time around, one of them includes an evolved starter, she also has 2 Super Potions.

I hope I'm correct on this line-up.

Ralts - Psychic (Level 15) - Possible Abilities: Synchronize / Trace
Growl / Double Team / Confusion / Teleport

Makuhita - Fighting (Level 15) - Possible Abilities: Thick Fat / Sheer Force / Guts
Fake Out / Arm Thrust / Vital Throw / Sand-Attack

Pignite - Fire/Fighting (Level 17) - Possible Abilities: Blaze / Thick Fat
Odor Sleuth / Flame Charge / Defense Curl / Arm Thrust

Can you see where her lineup is going? Fighting types, excluding that Ralts. Beware of Makuhita, it has a relatively high Attack stat. Aside from that, it's not that hard to defeat her.

Head south-east by following the streets, battle the one trainer blocking your path, then enter the building. Welcome to the Obsidia Slums, where Street Rats take over and boxes move out of nowhere.

Upon entry, you will see several trainers, who are all required battles (except the top-left one), there's a star-like object in the top-left corner, which fully heals and revives your entire team.

Continue north and defeat the next trainer, then proceed west to find a jump puzzle.

813om.png

From where I'm standing, jump down twice, go left once, then down one, right one, up one, left twice and you'll have cleared that bit.

Next, you get another short jump puzzle:

813E6.png

From where I'm standing now, jump down once, left once, up once, left once, then go down twice to clear that.

The path splits south and east after this, to the east there's a short jump puzzle again, just stand close to the bottom wall and jump right twice to get the item across the gap.
Proceed south and defeat the next trainer, then go down the stairs and defeat the next trainer. The box will run away, you can chase after it into the hole to find a TM, TM60: Quash.

Loop back around and head up the stairs you ignored if you went to get that TM to be back outside, but on top of the building you just entered.
There's another healing star, not without reason.

Defeat the two trainers inside, then jump down this next short puzzle:

8146B.png

Jump down, move down one, go right, then jump down twice. Easy as that.

Continue on, there will be another box waiting for you- Or is it a box after all..?

Talk to the box several times until it gets scared and runs off. Follow it into the next room, then proceed west and go down the stairs. Circle around the next area, defeat the trainer there and you'll run into a bunch of..

Required battle!

Player vs. Pokemon Gang

Yes- These guys are actually a gang. They consist of 3 Scraggy's and a low-level Scrafty. Don't think they're a pushover, these little things are strong, despite their low level. (You cannot capture them.)

Scraggy - Dark/Fighting (Level 14) - Possible Abilities: Shed Skin / Moxie / Intimidate
Sand-Attack / Low Kick / Headbutt / Feint Attack

Scraggy - Dark/Fighting (Level 15) - Possible Abilities: Shed Skin / Moxie / Intimidate
Sand-Attack / Low Kick / Headbutt / Feint Attack

Scraggy - Dark/Fighting (Level 16) - Possible Abilities: Shed Skin / Moxie / Intimidate
Sand-Attack / Swagger / Headbutt / Feint Attack

Scrafty - Dark/Fighting (Level 18) - Possible Abilities: Shed Skin / Moxie / Intimidate
Swagger / Feint Attack / Headbutt / Sand-Attack

They're all weak to Flying-type moves, but they're immune to Psychic-types. Their Feint Attacks are strong. Very strong.

All I can advise you to do- Is to hit them with every strong attack you have.

Once you defeat them, exit the Obsidia Ward, then head south towards the Coral Ward.

Once you enter the Coral Ward, you will immediately see the Pokémon Center. Head there now if you need to heal your team, then proceed west towards the pier to find a lady staring at a stranded Oshawott.

Talk to her and you'll be introduced to Amaria, one of Reborn's higher leaders. She'll say she wants to save the Oshawott, but she can't swim across the lake due to the poison, nor can she send out any of her Pokémon because it would damage them severely.

Cain drops by and decides to help and save the Oshawott by sending out his Grimer to get across the lake. Oshawott is so pleased, it decides to follow and join Cain, despite Cain's passion for Poison-type Pokémon- Then he thinks it's a good idea to put Oshawott to the test in a battle against you.

Required battle!

Player vs. Pretty Boy Cain

Cain's leveled up quite a bit from your last encounter with him, and proves to be a reasonable opponent.

Grimer - Poison (Level 16) - Possible Abilities: Stench/Sticky Hold/Poison Touch
Sludge / Disable / Mud-Slap / Harden

Venonat - Bug/Poison (Level 16) - Possible Abilities: Compoundeyes / Tinted Lens / Run Away
Confusion / Poisonpowder / Supersonic / Foresight

Nidorino - Poison (Level 20) - Possible Abilities: Poison Point/Rivalry/Hustle
Fury Attack / Poison Sting / Focus Energy / Double Kick

Oshawott - Water (Level 15) - Possible Abilities: Torrent/Shell Armor
Water Gun / Focus Energy / Tail Whip / Water Sport

Aside from that Nidorino, the rest is pretty much easy to take out in one or two hits. If you picked up that Ralts earlier, you should have no problem against Cain, but be careful with Grimer's Sludge and Nidorino's Poison Sting if you use that Ralts.

Encounter event;
Going back to the Opal Bridge can trigger a Mime Jr. encounter, you have to approach it from behind to startle and encounter it, it's level 5 and has the follow moves: Confusion / Barrier / Tickle / Copycat and will have one of these Abilities: Filter / Soundproof / Technician.

Skitty event: Next to the Pokémon Center in the Coral Ward, there is a Skitty being taken care of by a little boy, talk to his grandmother and she will ask you to come back with a Hyper Potion. Check between the two warehouses up north in the Coral Ward, there should be a Hyper Potion hidden there. Bring her the Hyper Potion and she will ask you if you want to take Skitty along.

Head back north and re-enter the Obsidia Ward, open the next spoiler if you want to learn about the Glameow event, otherwise skip towards the next part.

Glameow event;
In the south-east side of the Obsidia Ward, you will find another Pokémon Salon, "Salon de Glameowza" (if I'm not mistaken). They charge a bit more compared to the other salon, which is pretty dumb. Talk to the owner near the entrance and she'll ask you to check out the other salon for her, due to lack of customers in her own salon. Go back and talk to the ladies of the salon, then report back to Salon the Glameowza and speak with the owner again. As a reward, you can pick one of the Glameow walking around in the shop.

Heading back north from the Coral Ward and entering the Obsidia Ward, walk west and find yourself at the Obsidia Park, completely ravaged and taken control of by plants everywhere.
Talk to Florinia and Amaria and they will say that the Jasper Ward has had an incident much like this one, but that the Jasper Ward couldn't be saved anymore, yet they own the HM for Cut. Your objective is to retrieve the HM from the Jasper Ward to save Obsidia Ward/Park.

Backtrack allllll the way back to the Peridot Ward and head north-west. (Where the 2 Youngsters are starting at the fountain, head due west from there)
Talk to the Jasper Ward guard and he will give you HM01, Cut. A lot of areas open up to you with this HM, most importantly, the daycare event.

Teach a Pokémon Cut and head back to the Obsidia Ward's Pokémon Center. Remember you couldn't cut the tree down before? Well now you can. Enter the house and talk to the old man. He'll say some weird things, then say they're closed, so talk to his wife, who will say strange things as well. Keep talking to her until they get their act together á-la Jesse/James.. And battle them.
Once you defeat them, they will say they hid the real daycare couple somewhere, and hid the key to where they're hidden somewhere else!
No worries about that right now, you'll get them back soon.

Head back to Obsidia Park and cut down a tree, then enter Obsidia Park.
Looks a lot bigger from the inside, doesn't it?

From here on out, Amaria, Florinia and yourself will split up, since the path branches. Amaria heads north, while Florinia heads east before you do. Follow her and the path will branch again, she'll head north this time. (The paths are blocked once they go their seperate ways, so you can't follow them.)

It's pretty much a straight-forward path from here on out, with Team Meteor Grunts around everywhere. Circle through the park to finally encounter a strange device, with what seems to be a Tangrowth attached to the machine.. And a strange person in front of it.

Meet Zero, Eve and Lumi, aka ZEL. (Whichever letter is capital is the personality talking)
They will praise the destruction Tangrowth has brought forth, then proceed to initiate a battle with you to get rid of you, as they did with the Gym Leaders..

Required battle!

Player vs. Meteor Admin ZEL

ZEL only has one Pokémon, the Tangrowth you just saw.

Tangrowth - Grass (Level 25) - Ability: Leaf Guard
Item: Iron Ball (Cuts user's speed by 50%, makes airborne Pokémon susceptible to Ground type moves, also negates Levitate Ability if held ie: Weezing would be affected by Earthquake.)

Found your secret held item(s), Ame -evil laugh-

Thundershock / Mega Drain / Magnet Bomb - These are all the moves it has ever used against me. (Upon further research, I have found out that Tangrowth actually has a 4th move, Growth. Growth raises its Attack and Special Attack by 1 stage, making its attacks even more devastating.)

This thing is an absolute monster. Without a doubt the biggest threat you will see so far.

It has Flying types covered with Thundershock, it can heal itself with Mega Drain, and don't even think of going up against it with a Rock/Ice type, Magnet Bomb would destroy it instantly.

A combination of at least 3, maybe even 4 Pokémon to widdle it down gradually is your best, if not only shot. ZEL also has a Super Potion to use in need of emergency, good luck with this threat.

My personal strategy for this was to Paralyze it, then continue whacking at it with Confusion (Kirlia) and hoping for the Para-fusion. That didn't work, so I ended up taking it out with Noibat's Gust/Wing Attacks and Frogadier's Round.

Once you defeat his Tangrowth, ZEL admits it might've not been a good idea to use the PULSE-project Pokémon, because the plants around the Obsidia Ward will now die due to Tangrowth being exhausted.

Just in the nick of time, Florinia and Amaria are released from the vines after this entire incident is over.

Amaria will leave the scene and Florinia will encourage you to enter the Onyx Ward's gym, north of the Obsidia Ward.

Before you go anywhere, enter the house just north of you and you'll obtain the Warehouse Key. What this does can be read in the following spoiler, otherwise cut to the next part if you don't want to do this just yet.

Daycare couple event;
With the Warehouse Key in possession, return to the Coral Ward and open the south-west warehouse to find the elderly Daycare Couple. They were imprisoned there by Team Meteor, whom have tarnished their reputation, so they must quickly return and restore their reputation. You can now make use of the breeding system in Reborn! Remember where you fought the fake daycare couple? Go back there anytime you want if you so much wish to breed.

Happiny event;

Talk to the grunt inside the 2nd warehouse in the south side of the Coral Ward and he will flee, but circle around the warehouse to find a scared Happiny. Talk to it and it will join you.

Spoink event;

In the south of the Coral Ward, there are several warehouses, you need the Warehouse Key to open these, which is obtained after clearing the Obsidia Park storyline. There are 3 warehouses you can open, the far left one (near the pier) is to bring the original Daycare Couple back, the one right next to it contains Spoink.

Heading north from the Obsidia Park, you can see a big building, the Obsidia Dept. Store!

The Onyx Ward [Game.03]

The first thing you'll see in the Onyx Ward- Is the Arcade Hall. You can't play games here just yet, because you don't own a Coin Case. But you will soon.

Prize list for the Arcade Hall:

Pokémon:

1000 Coins: Psyduck (Water), evolves into Golduck (Water) at level 33 - Ability will be one of the following: Could Nine / Damp / Swift Swim

4000 Coins: Shinx (Electric), evolves into Luxio (Electric) at level 15, evolves into Luxray (Electric) at level 30 - Ability will be one of the following: Rivalry / Intimidate / Guts

10000 Coins: Trapinch (Ground), evolves into Vibrava at level 35 (Ground/Dragon), evolves into Flygon (Ground/Dragon, ability is always Levitate for Vibrava/Flygon) at level 45. - Ability will be one of the following: Arena Trap / Hyper Cutter / Sheer Force

TM's:

1000 Coins: TM45 Attract - Infatuates Pokémon of the opposite gender to make them less likely to attack.

4000 Coins: TM42 Facade - When your Pokémon is hit with a status condition like Burn/Paralysis/Poison, the BP of this move doubles. (70 > 140)

10000 Coins: TM90 Substitute - Uses 25% of your Pokémon's HP to create a substitute that will take damage until it breaks. The damage it can receive equals the amount of HP invested in the creation of a substitute clone.

If you head west from the Arcade Hall, you can find the Move Tutor's house, which is of no use as of now, but once you collect some Heart Scales (found on wild Luvdisc or through mining), be sure to come back to get some moves learned!

Head north-west and you'll find a big building, the Onyx Trainer School, OTS for short. Remember Julia was a cheerleading captain for OTS? This is where she graduated.

Once you enter, you'll see an old familiar face- Fern. And his babbling isn't without reason for once, he claims that you're not worthy of obtaining a badge from his sister, so he locks you out and commands his "followers" to stop you from getting in..

Since you can't break the door, head back outside and go east to the other entrance to the school, battle the trainers along the way and bust your way into the backdoor of OTS.

Not too shabby.. A Pokémon Center conveniently near the entrance, a locked shutter on the west side.. Only one way to go- East. So head east and battle the trainers along the way for some easy experience, then proceed up the stairs to find the student dorm rooms. Enter the very first door and you'll find a rather upset student, saying he wasted all his time in the Arcade Hall and not needing this certain item anymore, so he gives you his Coin Case. (Too bad it's empty.)

The next door has a flickering monitor, interacting with it does nothing yet, you need to find the Data Drive first.

In one of the last rooms on this floor, you can find a room with 4 beds and 4 bookshelves.. Read the hidden diaries in the bookshelves if you want to learn some interesting things about Julia, Florinia, Titania and Amaria..

Continue down the hallway and battle the other students trying to get in your way and make your way downstairs once again.

There's a battleground with a lot of computer monitors on the top sides, each monitor has a specific question that needs an exact answer. Noticed the bookshelves and books laying around all over campus? To find the answers to the questions, you have to read through every single bookshelf/book you can find on OTS campus.

But since this is a guide, I've summarized the questions and answers.

Q: At what level does Starmie learn Rapid Spin?

A: 000

Q: What number is Huntail in the National Pokédex?

A: 367

Q: Of all the moves that never miss, how many can a Togekiss learn?

A: 005

Q: What is Corsola's BST (base stat) total?

A: 380

Q: How many Pokémon have a BST of 305?

A: 013

Q: How many Pokémon can learn the move Lava Plume?

A: 015

Q: What's the highest speed a Ninjask can achieve without boosts?

A: 460

Before continuing on, battle the trainers on the battlegrounds, then head back to the right and take the bottom exit, then unlock the gates with the computer. Head back through the area with battlegrounds and monitors in the west, then proceed down the hall to find mister bigshot himself, guarding the door to the gym leader.

Required battle!

Player vs. Swag Jockey Fern

Fern is a force to be reckoned with at this point of the game, with his Pokémon nearing the 1-badge level cap (25), he's nothing to mess around with still. (Unless you have a Fire-type with you again.)

He has 2 Super Potions up his sleeve, along with the following 3 Pokémon;

Lombre - Water/Grass (Level 23) - Possible Abilities: Swift Swim / Rain Dish / Own Tempo

Absorb / Fake Out / Fury Swipes / Nature Power

Fake Out will always cause you to flinch if you're hit with it, meaning he gets free damage off on you.

Absorb is a weak Grass-type move, but it does heal Lombre for a tiny amount.

Fury Swipes can hit up to 5 times, meaning it can also crit you 5 times. It's not the strongest move, but still.

Nature Power is way too overpowered in this situation. It gets a different attack, varying by location. In this case, it gets turned into Tri Attack, an 80 base power Normal-type attack, capable of inflicting Burn/Paralysis/Freeze with a 20% chance. It will mostly use this attack, so I hope you have some Burn Heals/Paralyze Heals/Ice Heals from the Dept. Store ready just in case.

His next Pokémon is;

Servine - Grass (Level 24) - Possible Abilities: Overgrow / Contrary

Mega Drain / Leech Seed / Leaf Tornado / Growth

His Snivy evolved into a far more powerful Servine, though it only has Grass-type moves, aside from Growth. Meaning that a Grass-type will wall him due to 2x resistance. Mega Drain heals Servine a decent amount, Leech Seed steadily saps your Pokémon's HP while healing Servine, Leaf Tornado is a 65 BP move that may lower your accuracy (50% chance) and Growth boosts its Attack/Special Attack by 1 stage.

His final Pokémon is;

Roselia - Grass/Poison (Level 25) - Possible Abilities : Poison Point / Natural Cure / Leaf Guard

Poison Sting / Stun Spore / Mega Drain / Leech Seed

If you picked up that Ralts and it's a Kirlia, you can send it out against this thing, but Poison Sting kind of hurts. Stun Spore and Leech Seed combined just means trouble, Mega Drain can heal Roselia a bit.

Once you take down mister Swag Jockey here, go back to the Pokémon Center in the far-east side of OTS, then return and proceed through the door Fern guarded to face..

Required battle!

Player vs. Head Instructor Florinia

Make no mistake, Florinia is no joke to mess around with. She might talk funny, but she packs quite the punch, being the 2nd Gym Leader so far. She has 2 Super Potions to use throughout the battle as well.

Her lineup consists of the following Pokémon;

Cacnea - Grass (Level 22), holding a Smooth Rock (Sandstorm lasts for 8 turns instead of 5) - Ability: Sand Veil

Grass Knot / Sandstorm / Pin Missile / Leech Seed

Maractus - Grass (Level 23), holding a Big Root (Absorption moves like Absorb/Mega Drain/Giga Drain heal more HP) - Ability: Water Absorb

Needle Arm / Grass Knot / Pin Missile / Mega Drain

Phantump - Grass/Ghost (Level 23), holding Leftovers - Ability: Natural Cure

Leech Seed / Feint Attack / Grass Knot / Confuse Ray

Grotle - Grass (Level 23), holding a Smooth Rock - Possible Abilities: Overgrow / Shell Armor

Razor Leaf / Bite / Curse / Sandstorm

Breloom - Grass/Fighting (Level 23) - Ability: Poison Heal

Spore / Leech Seed / Grass Knot / Mach Punch

Cradily - Grass/Rock (Level 24), holding a Smooth Rock - Ability: Storm Drain

Curse / Smack Down / Recover / Sandstorm

This team- Is extremely annoying. Sandstorm will be up throughout 90% of the battle, there are Leech Seed abusers.. And that goddamn Cradily.

First thing's first, if you don't have a Fire/Flying/Fighting/Poison type at this point.. You're in for a world of hurt. I had to go back to capture a Makuhita and evolve it (Level 24), by grinding on level 15-18 Noibats/Woobats for over an hour. Only to take out her Cradily.

If you have something with Toxic Spikes, by all means, I encourage you to not set them up unless you can take out Breloom in 1 or 2 hits. Aside from that, Toxic Spikes is highly advised for this battle.

Her Cacnea will most likely start off by using Sandstorm, then Leech Seed. Cacnea isn't much of a problem, a good hit will knock it out relatively fast.

Frogadier with Round worked for me.

She'll try to send out Cradily early in the battle, all it can and will do- Is Curse/Sandstorm/Recover. If it gets the chance to attack with Smack Down after it gets up 2 or 3 Curses, you're pretty much done if you don't have a Fighting-type.

Makuhita evolves very early (Level 24) and it has good Attack, plus it has access to Knock Off and Vital Throw (never misses, but you move last), making it a very viable Pokémon for this Wall-dily. Props to Vinny for this, he made me go back for a Makuhita.

Maractus is.. Weird.. It's a dancing cactus that is pretty much immune to Water-type moves, as it gets healed by them, but it only has attacking moves, no Sandstorm or Leech Seed or anything. It's full-offense based. Noibat seemed to have worked for me with Air Cutter, as Noibat resists all 4 of Maractus' moves.

Phantump is one of her more bulky and annoying unevolved Pokémon. It has Leftovers and it knows Leech Seed.. And Confuse Ray. I really can't think of anything else but either Frogadier's Lick or a Fire-type kicking it's ass with a quick Ember, maybe even an Air Cutter from a Tranquill/Noibat?

I'm baffled as to why her Grotle knows Sandstorm, as it's not a Ground type (yet), but it sure utilizes this move. Curse and Razor Leaf hurt a lot, so don't let Grotle get 1 or 2 Curses off. The bright side on this though, is that he can't flinch you with Bite.

And finally, her Breloom.

Of course, it has Spore.

Like every other damn Breloom in the metagame.

And Leech Seed. Grass Knot is probably its weakest move, but it still has STAB. Mach Punch is a finisher move most the time, when you get low on HP. Mach Punch has +1 priority, so beware that if you get low on HP, to either switch or use a Potion.

NOTE: The Pokémon Center has a new NPC if you go there before (or after losing to) Florinia, sitting on a bench, selling Super Potions! This is the earliest opportunity where you can actually buy Super Potions, which heal 50 HP! They're $700 each, which is quite expensive, but stocking up on a dozen should be enough for a while!

Once you defeat Florinia, you will receive the Canopy Badge and TM 86, Grass Knot.

The Canopy Badge allows Pokémon to obey you up until level 35, even traded ones. TM 86 Grass Knot is a move that relies on weight, rather then BP. The heavier your opponent is, the more damage it does. Vice versa effect is applied if your opponent is light.

Before you leave, though- Florinia has a request to make, asking you to head up to the Jasper Ward and the Beryl Ward and see if you can be of any assistance in the area..

Before heading to the Jasper and Beryl Wards, though.. A new event is now open to you.

Pichu event:

Note: You need PokéSnax to trigger this event!

In the southern area of the Onyx Ward, next to the Arcade Hall to be precise, there's an apartment. Enter it and talk to the Ace Trainer (in red and yellow), he'll apologize for being so harsh against you before and let you gain access to the roof of the apartment. On clear days, you can find a Pichu hiding behind the tree on the left side. If you interact with it, it'll attack you for a batch of PokéSnax! It's not a special Pichu of any kind, but a quick reminder, Pichu learns Nasty Plot at level 18, making it a dangerous sweeper once you evolve it to Pikachu or Raichu. (It can't hold a Light Ball, so it's not possible to breed Pichu to get Volt Tackle)

The Jasper Ward and Malchous Forest... [Game.04]

Remember where you picked up that HM01 from the guard? Head back there and enter the Jasper Ward.

This place looks more damaged then the Obsidia Ward... Horribly destroyed, actually.

I'll go into a short encounter list first, because you'll be running into a lot of wild Pokémon while traveling through the Jasper Ward.

Sewaddle (Bug/Grass), evolves into Swadloon (Bug/Grass) at level 20, evolves into Leavanny (Bug/Grass) when Swadloon's happiness is 220+ and levels up.

Beedrill (Bug/Poison), final stage of Weedle (Bug/Poison)

Pidgey (Normal/Flying), Evolves into Pidgeotto (Normal/Flying) at level 18, evolves into Pidgeot (Normal/Flying) at level 36.

Pidgeotto (Normal/Flying), Evolves into Pidgeot (Normal/Flying) at level 36.

Scatterbug (Bug), Evolves into Spewpa (Bug) at level 9, evolves into Vivillon (Bug/Flying) at level 12.

Pansage (Grass), Evolves into Simisage with a Leaf Stone

Rattata (Normal), Evolves into Raticate (Normal) at level 20.

Carnivine (Night) (Grass), no further evolution.

Malchous Forest encounter list:

Ledyba (Bug/Flying) - Evolves into Ledian (Bug/Flying) at level 18

Sewaddle (Bug/Grass) - evolves into Swadloon (Bug/Grass) at level 20, evolves into Leavanny (Bug/Grass) when Swadloon's happiness is 220+ and levels up.

Beedrill (Bug/Poison), final stage of Weedle (Bug/Poison)

Pidgey (Normal/Flying), evolves into Pidgeotto (Normal/Flying) at level 18, evolves into Pidgeot (Normal/Flying) at level 36.

Oddish (Grass/Poison), evolves into Gloom (Grass/Poison) at level 21, evolves into Vileplume with a Leaf Stone or evolves into Bellossom with a Sun Stone.

Bellsprout - (Grass/Poison), evolves into Weepinbell (Grass/Poison) at level 21, evolves into Victreebel with a Leaf Stone.

Paras (Night only) (Bug/Grass), evolves into Parasect (Bug/Grass) at level 24.

Hoothoot (Night only) (Normal/Flying), evolves into Noctowl (Normal/Flying) at level 20.

Spinarak (Night only) (Bug/Poison), evolves into Ariados at level 22.

First thing you should do upon entering the Jasper Ward, is to head east to find a Team Meteor Grunt. Talk to him and he'll battle you.

After that, head to the building you saw when you entered the Jasper Ward, Reborn's police office. Talk to the man with the hat and he'll tell you that 5 of his officers went missing since the entire plant event, and asks you to find them and tell them to come back. I'll cover all 5 locations. 2 of them are in the Jasper Ward, but the other 3 are in the Beryl Ward, which is the next ward over.

Next thing you should do is to head due west from the police office to find a door into a building. Enter the building and challenge the trainer in front of you, then head up north and exit the building to find a Pokémon Center. Heal if you must, then head back down inside the building and head west from where you fought the first trainer, you'll find another trainer there, then exit west and head west after leaving the building. Cut down the tree and enter the building, then battle the Team Meteor Grunt inside. Exit south-east and head west, cut down the tree and enter Malchous Forest.

If you head east from the Pokémon Center and enter the first building, you'll find a man running around aimlessly. Talk to him and he'll tell you he's lost his darling Azurill.. Handy tip for later on!

Head west once you enter Malchous Forest and cut down the tree guarding the item ball and a rock, check the rock for a hidden item (though I forgot what it was).

Head back east, the south-west side leads to a dead end and head north-east, cut down the tree and enter the first building. You'll find a Team Meteor Grunt and a police officer (1) in the corner.

Entering the second building has no use as of now, but remember this building.

Head back into Malchous Forest and proceed west, cut down the trees that block your path and battle the Team Meteor Grunts guarding the area. It's another straight-forward path, can't really miss anything..

You can see an item ball in sight, jump off the ledge to grab it if you want (I believe it's a Big Root, which increases HP gain from absorption moves like Absorb/Mega Drain/Giga Drain), don't quote me on that as I'm not 100% sure.

Head back around and battle the last Team Meteor Grunt in Malchous Forest, then grab the healing star and save, you'll have quite an annoying opponent coming up..

Required battle!

Player vs. Meteor Admin Taka

Meet Team Meteor's next Admin, Taka. He's.. Not as crazy as ZEL, more compassionate, it almost seems as if he feels regret for using Tangrowth in the way it's being (ab)used with its power. Not only that, he explains eactly what the PULSE (Pokemon Ultimation Link-System Exaggerata) does and is capable of doing.

Unfortunately, he also has orders to take you down, seeing you're a threat to Team Meteor.

Taka has 2 Super Potions to use throughout the battle.

His lineup consists of the following Pokémon;

Lileep - Bug/Rock (Level 24) - Ability: Storm Drain

Acid / Ingrain / Constrict / Confuse Ray

Lileep is Cradily's unevolved form, but much less bulky. It does have Ingrain to gradually restore HP, as well as Confuse Ray to try and make you hit yourself, but at this point, a good Fighting-type should take it out in 1 or 2 turns.

Taka uses the Tangrowth attached to the PULSE-machine, the same one ZEL used.

Tangrowth - Grass (Level 25) - Ability: Leaf Guard - Item: Iron Ball

Thundershock / Magnet Bomb / Mega Drain / Growth

Same pretty much applies to Tangrowth now as it did before, but you should be a lot stronger compared to the Obsidia Ward encounter with Tangrowth.

Finally, he'll send out his strongest Pokémon, Chatot.

Chatot - Normal/Flying (Level 27) - Possible Abilities: Keey Eye / Tangled Feet / Big Pecks

Chatter / Nasty Plot / Sing / Taunt

This thing is beyond annoying. It has Sing, for starters. Sing should be 55% accuracy, but it seems as if it's 90% just for Taka. Not to mention that Chatot has very high Special Attack (for a Pokémon at this point in the game), it gets Nasty Plot and Chatter (Flying-type Special attack), meaning that if it gets off one Nasty Plot, it has the potential to sweep anything that doesn't resist it. It has high speed as well, this thing causes many problems.

Ame what were you thinking when you made this Chatot so horrendously strong..?

Okay, to get rid of this Chatot, I reccommend using a strong Electric-type. If you picked up that Electrike very early, odds are you've evolved it into a Manectric by now, which is probably your best bet against this thing. Monferno and Combusken will get blown away by Chatot's Chatter. Quite literally. If you have a Rock-type, you can just sit back and laugh.

However.. Chatter has a secondary effect. If you get hit by Chatter, you will always get confused, unless you have an Ability that completely negates confusion status, like Own Tempo. This gives Chatot a chance to set up another Nasty Plot, or even pull off a Sing.

That being said- Good luck with it.

Once you defeat Taka, the plant infestation around the Jasper Ward will reside, allowing you to progress further into the ward. In the next spoiler, you can learn of various events that are now open to you.

The second building east of the Jasper Ward's Pokémon Center had no use up until now, head inside and go to the back of the room and enter the elevator, head upstairs and talk to the girl in that room. She'll thank you for telling you that the elevator is working again and make her escape, telling you that she'll be at her friend's house in the Peridot Ward, who must be worried sick for her wellbeing. If you head back to entrance of the Jasper Ward and head south east and head into the first house you find, you will find both girls. Talk to the girl in red/yellow and she will give you a Pokémon Egg, containing a Smoochum upon hatching.

Head further east past that building where you saved the girl, keep looking down and you'll see an officer in a corner, who was previously trapped by a vine. Talk to him and you'll have saved the second police officer! (2) This means all of Jasper Ward's policemen are saved, only the 3 in the Beryl Ward remain now.

Continuing east, the path will split east and south. Head south and you'll find an abandoned house. Enter it and you'll find a lonely Azurill. This is the Azurill the man earlier lost. He won't be there if you try to return it, so you might as well just.. Keep it. (save and soft-reset if you want Huge Power and a good nature!)

During windy days, you can find Emolga hopping from roof to roof. When there's no wind, an Emolga will be sleeping under a tree, talking with it will initiate a battle with it.

You should be able to move more freely around the Jasper Ward now, due to not having to cut down trees anymore, but we're not done yet. The Beryl Ward also needs some investigating..

Great work! Only:

Professor Ame will take you downstairs to her special room, where you have a choice to choose from 18 Pokémon. Each table has a different color, being green, red and blue.

After that, Professor Ame and Victoria walk up to you, and Victoria initiates a battle with you, while Professor Ame takes Cain to take his starter.

The blue isn't blue, and Cain doesn't choose a starter.

Basically a walkthrough while I'm going through the game, trying to cover as much as possible while going through every nook and cranny. :x

The guide looks really nice, good luck with all that work if you're doing the WHOLE game o_o.

I'll be glad to help if you need any xD

Thanks! Anything you know that I'm missing out on as I go through the guide, just let me know and I'll put it in, with credit of course. :x

If you are wanting to suggest useful pokemon for big battles then some useful pokemon for the first Gym are Trubish, Goldeen and Pachirisu.

Trubish gets Toxic Spikes at lvl 7 making it very usefull early game against gym leaders simply because of that 1 move.

Goldeen gets Lightening Rod ability making it immune to electric attacks and in fact makes it boost it special attack which allows it to sweep with water pulse seems as the AI continues to try to use electric attack on Goldeen despite it being useless because they must think its going to be super effective...

Pachirisu is good at this stage of the game because it doesn't evolve so this is a final stage pokemon and therefore has better stats than most pokemon at this stage of the game because they all have evolutions to add to their stats. Pachirisu also gets Volt Absorb ability meaning if low hp you can always switch out and switch it back when expecting an electric attack to heal.

These pokemon aren't really good and shouldn't stay on your team but they are definitely extremely useful for the first Gym if you need the help.

Thanks Shuckle, I'll make note of this little strategy for the first gym!

I assume Goldeen is obtained through fishing in the "hidden reservoir", correct? Trubbish is found in the alleyways, I know that.

Would like clarification on the Goldeen one though!

The rain might have something to do with it? I'm not sure.

Also: on my second play of the game a Spinda was being bullied.

Strange.. I might have to tinker around with the weather to find out what possibilities there are.

It can be between Pachirisu/Panpour... And yes, i believe it's random. Strange, i thought that Spinda wasn't available like that anymore... but guess not...

EDIT: @Mikzal It was in episode 9? Oh okay, then i'm right ^_^ Spinda is not available like that anymore... Only Pachirisu/Panpour...

A minor, somewhat useful thing of note if you're a wuss like me and need Potions: there's a lady outside Grand Hall that gives you a free Potion if you talk to her. Something I hadn't noticed until someone else pointed it out. She gives it to you before you ever enter the Grand Hall, actually, so you can have one Potion before ever getting your starter, which is handy.

Also, I'm pretty sure Victoria's title hasn't been Nature Girl since before Episode 10? She's "Apprentice" Victoria in your first battle with her, so far as I can recall. Same with Fern and "Swag Jockey". (Whose idea was that title, anyway? Dorkiest thing I've ever heard...)

And one last thing, you should definitely make note that there are a lot of hidden items all around Peridot Ward. I literally was drowning in Antidotes and Potions from just checking random rocks and barrels and such.

I'm just trying to be helpful don't eat me

...I just started a new game (in Episode 11, of course) to check and... she was named Apprentice Victoria for me. So... I am very confused right now? Is it like, random, or something? It's a tiny thing, so it's not terribly important, but...
