[Mod Project] Community Sourced Pokemon Tweaks

Recommended Posts

Hello there! I am currently working on a mod for reborn, namely, tweaks to certain Pokemon to make them a little more.. Interesting. They would be changes to the learnset, typing and stats, with the main purpose of making weak or useless pokemon more fun to use. This doesn't mean "Make every pokemon OU", but rather "Make pokemon like Butterfree a little more worth capturing and raising."

And where do I come in? You might be wondering, well, the answer is simple. You just post in this thread with suggested changes to a mon, and an explanation of why you they are appropiate. I will handpick suggestions in case there are more than one per mon, or might submit it to a vote if both are equally valid.

Not all pokemon are valid to submit! A pokemon must fulfill certain requeriments to be up for tweaking, it must have less than 500 BST, a learnset very inadequate for it's stat distribution, or a terrible typing.

I will start releasing this mod as soon as we reach a sufficient number of changes (say.. 20 of them).

Updates will be frequent, and new changes will be introduced in batches of ~10, you can expect at the very least a new version with every version of Reborn.

There are also some further guidelines on which changes are acceptable and which aren't (These are not quite rules, but they shouldn't be ignored either, if you break one of these guidelines, you will have to provide a reason, and even then your submission might be rejected.):

  1. The BST after changes may not go over 520.
  2. You may not add more than two moves to the learnset of the pokemon. (You may, however, swap out moves from the learnset, and add different ones as much as you like. This is specially reccomended when changing the typing of something.)
  3. You may only change the pokemon's Hidden Ability.
  4. If a pokemon is a dual type, you may only change one of it's types. Nevermind.
  5. Very powerful (example: pixiliate) and signature abilities may not be used.
  6. If you put your submission in the following format, it'll help me out tons.

Venomoth:

HP: 70 -> 70

Atk: 65 -> 55

Def: 60 -> 60

Sp. Atk: 90 -> 100

Sp. Def: 75 -> 95

Spd. 90 -> 100

Total: 450 -> 480

Type: Bug/Poison -> Bug/Psychic

Ability: -Wonder Skin, +Synchronize

Moves:

Poison Fang L47 -> Psyshock L47

Here is a google document containing all the additions thus far.

Release 4 for Reborn E15 is ready for testing! It contains most of the edits listed under "First Release" ,"Release 2", "Release 3" and "Release 4" in the google doc.

Download

Please post any bugs or balance problems you find in this thread, or pm them to me.

How to install:

1. Open the zip file.

2. Drag the "Data" folder into your Reborn instalation.

3. Done!

Thank you for reading!

Very interesting, I'll contribute a bit!

Firstly, we're doing one of my favorite Pokemon, Masquerain.

Masquerain:

70/60/62/80/82/60 -> 90/60/100/80/100/80

414 -> 510

Bug/Flying -> Bug/Water

Unnerve -> Levitate

Nothing changed for moves as of right now.

We're making Masquerain much more bulky and faster, and changing it back to a Water/Bug type! Hopefully this isn't too powerful, I didn't touch that Special Attack... Also, tell me if I made a calculation error, idk.

Spinda:

60/60/60/60/60/60 ---> 70/60/70/80/80/90

360 ---> 450

Normal ---> Normal/ Psychic

Abilities still work

It can get Psychic and stuff via TM, but just give it to it naturally, as well as Amnesia to help its new special bulk.

Reason: I hate "gimmick" pokemon, they're annoying. And while Spinda isn't reeaaaally that, its fur patterns make me feel like they were tying to go for that. So, By making Spinda more special offensive and defensive, as well as faster, it can be a genuinely decent pokemon until late game, and the Psychic type just seems right to me. Maybe because it's main thing is teeter dance which confuses everyone, and I associate confusion with Psychic types

Okay i'll join the trend and its unclear what things are considered Inadequate movesets and if the BST/Learnset and Typing all must be met or if only one of them has to meet the criteria

Venomoth:
70/65/60/90/75/90 --> 70/65/60/120/80/110
450 --> 505
Bug/Poison
Wonder Skin --> Compound Eyes
I think it could have Power Gem added to it's learnset through Move Tutor maybe? or Move Relearner and to keep it from becoming to powerful Quiver Dance should probably be removed from its Learnset as it still has Agility and the boosted Sp Atk should be fine with the additional speed.

Venomoth is a pokemon with less than 500 BST it's typing aint that bad but its got a horrible vunerablity to Fire and Flying type pokemon with Hidden Power Rock only thing that will counter both types you still need to get that Quiver Dance setup and sometimes no time for this especially with Physical Flying or Fire types so I personally thing this would be a fair addition if its moveset had that one move added to add decent coverage with the other move removed for Balance

Dunsparce:

100/70/70/65/65/45 -> 100/90/85/85/80/80

415 -> 520

Normal -> Ground

Rattled -> Sand Rush

Add Iron Head and Air Slash and maybe Air cutter if you feel like it.

This isn't the buff Dunsparce needed, but the buff it deserved. Not only is it finally getting a typing fitting of it, but it is also finally getting good stats, and a hidden ability that can be used other than its normal ability. Now you aren't forced to use serene grace dunsparce, but still can if you want. It gets a nice typing, and although it adds more weaknesses, he has the moves and speed and ability to back him up. He also gets more bulk and more SpA for the wide plethora of special attacks he has, making him unlike other sand rush users. Oh and did I mention he gets Calm Mind? Awww yeah. He's also got the coverage of flamethrower/fire blast allowing him to beat grass and ice reliably and air slash can help hax with serene grace set lmao. All in all, this is exactly what Dunsparce needs in order to become a much better attacker and monster in Reborn. Sigh, if only this was what the meta got out of him xD

Thanks for your contributions, guys! I added a google doc which I'm updating with the suggestions thus far.
I honestly don't think Azumarill counts, since it already has Huge Power which is pretty damn nice, but I'll leave it up to you guys.

...

Inadequate Moveset: see Flareon.

BST/Learnset: Only one needs to be there, but honestly, the mon just has to be terrible.

Venomoth:

70/65/60/90/75/90 --> 70/65/60/120/80/110

450 --> 505

Bug/Poison

Wonder Skin --> Poison Heal (or whatever that ability that heals a poisoned pokemon is called)

Er... If it's Poison type, it can't be Poisoned, so Poison Heal doesn't make much sense to me...

Azumarill out of all things.

100/50/80/60/80/50 ---> 100/60/90/60/90/50

420. 450.

I think it would be nice for Azumarill's attack stats to match each other in the very least, and for god's sake just give it a little more bulk.

If you wanna make Azumarill a little more bulky then eh that might fly, but considering that 10 point raise to attack is really a 20 point raise thanks to Huge Power, i think we can leave that at a nice respectable 50

Mismagius:

Typing Change: Ghost -> Ghost/Fairy

Hidden Ability: +Competitive

Might as well make Mismagius make a little bit more sensical and create a Ghost/Fairy.

Give it Moonblast, too, and people would be much happier that Midreavus replaces Gastly.

Good point, it DOES get dazzling gleam right now but might as well get Moonblast to make it better.

Butterfree

60/45/50/90/80/70 --> 60/45/50/100/80/90

395 --> 425

HA: Overcoat

Bug/Flying --> Bug/Psychic

Add a stronger Psychic move like Psychic to its learnset.

The idea is to turn Butterfree into a better special attacker. I have a soft spot for the Gen I mons, and I think Butterfree deserves a buff. Also, I don't think a Bug/Psychic mon exists yet.

Typhlosion

Base Stats unchanged (already siting at 534 as is, although a lot of it is wasted in physical attack)

Type: Fire --> Fire/Ground Groundon Jr. as the VOLCANO POKEMON

Abilities: -Flash Fire, +Dry Skin

Moves:

Double-Edge (69, Start)--> Earth Power

Volbeat
65/73/55/47/75/85 --> 65/90/65/90/75/95
400 --> 475
Bug --> Bug/Electric

Decent Sp. Atk and Speed allows Volbeat to (ab)use Tail Glow and become a potent special attacker. It can also run mixed sets with it solid attack and physical coverage moves like Play Rough and Zen Headbutt it learns by level up. Volbeat can learn Thunder, Thunderbolt, Charge Beam and Thunder Wave from TM. With Prankster, Volbeat can also use moves Tail Glow, Baton Pass, and Moonlight effectively.

Illumise
65/47/55/73/75/85 --> 65/47/90/93/95/85
400 --> 475
Bug --> Bug/Fairy

Bug/Fairy isn't the best defensive typing, but an immunity to dragon and a 4x resistance to fighting can be useful. Illumise learns plenty of moves to fully utilize. While Volbeat has Tail Glow, Prankster Illumise has better bulk and typing to use moves like Moonlight, Roost, Wish, Encore, Baton Pass, Thunder Wave, and can set up sun or rain as well as Light Screen. Illumise can learn Moonblast or Dazzling Gleam instead of Play Rough by level up.

I'll just add my own idea here as well, because Wynaut.

Absol: Dark > Ice/Dark

Change abilities from Pressure/Super Luck/Justified to Super Luck/Intimidate/Hyper Cutter

Moves to add: Ice Fang/Ice Shard through level-up/Move Tutor

I'm honestly surprised this hasn't been done yet.

Bibarel

Stats:

- HP: 79 -> 90

- Attack: 85

- Defense: 60 -> 85

- Special Attack: 55 -> 75

- Special Defense: 60 -> 85

- Speed: 71 -> 50

- Total BST: 410 -> 470

Abilities: unchanged

Type: unchanged

Water Gun lv 15 -> Aqua Jet lv 15

Grumpig:

80/45/65/90/110/80 -> 100/25/85/110/110/80

470 -> 510

Psychic

Gluttony -> Magic Bounce (since they'll bounce off his belly?)

Level 46: Payback -> Tail Glow

I just want my poor pig to be use, so I gave it much better bulk in Defense and HP as well as better Special Attack. Perhaps that combined with Tail Glow and Magic Bounce will make it a better Pokemon, perhaps even in the rankings of the Gardevoir-Alakazam-Gallade-Medicham-Meowstic group.

Actually

I've done Bibarel now

Better do all the Normal rodents (except for Diggersby and Stoutland, they're already powerful enough)

Raticate

Stats:

- HP: 55 -> 70

- Attack: 81 -> 100

- Defense: 60 -> 70

- Special Attack: 50 -> 40

- Special Defense: 70

- Speed: 97 -> 120

- Total BST: 413 -> 470

Abilities: Hustle -> Strong Jaw

Type: Normal -> Normal/Dark

Assurance lv 29 -> Ice Fang lv 30

Scary Face lv 20 -> Fire Fang lv 30

Focus Energy start -> Thunder Fang lv 30

Focus Energy lv 7 -> Poison Fang lv 26

Raticate's finally gonna put those jaws to use. Personally I like this one, although quite a bit of changes in movesets etc. Is viable with Guts as well.

Linoone

Stats:

- HP: 78 -> 110

- Attack: 70 -> 50

- Defense: 61 -> 80

- Special Attack: 50 -> 70

- Special Defense: 61 -> 90

- Speed: 100 -> 60

- Total BST: 420 -> 460

Abilities: Quick Feet -> Fur Coat

Type: unchanged

Rototiller start -> Round lv 20

Bestow lv 27 -> Hyper Voice lv 36

Now this overhaul is huge, maybe a little too huge. Linoone's stats have been completely changed, to make it more of a bulky Pokemon than an offensive one with Belly Drum, which it was mostly used for. Then again, no Extreme Speed here. This Linoone will focus on bulking moves. With the Attack and Special Attack stats swapped, Linoone won't be much of a physical attacker anymore, but will more focus on his pretty cool special movepool.

Watchog

Stats:

- HP: 60

- Attack: 85 -> 110

- Defense: 69 -> 60

- Special Attack: 60

- Special Defense: 69 -> 60

- Speed: 77 -> 120

- Total BST: 420 -> 470

Abilities: Analytic -> Compound Eyes

Type: Normal -> Normal/Psychic

Low Kick start -> Low Kick lv 28

After You lv 25 -> Zen Headbutt lv 34

There we have another small overhaul. Compound Eyes makes moves like Hypnosis, Iron Tail and Zen Headbutt a lot more likely to hit, or gives it 100% chance to hit. Low Kick has been changed because Watchog hardly gets any coverage through level-up, but the move's not worth using a Heart Scale for, either. Zen Headbutt gives that nice STAB.

What's that? Where's Furret? There's no Furret here, walk along. But since you want an encore...

Stunfisk

Stats:

HP: 109 -> 115

Attack: 66 -> 60

Defense: 84 -> 90

Special Attack: 81 -> 100

Special Defense: 99 -> 105

Speed: 32 -> 20

Total BST: 471 -> 490

Abilities: Sand Veil -> Dry Skin

Type: unchanged

I mean like lol. Does Stunfisk even need changes in its moveset? Maybe TWave, but hell, it's powerful enough already now. Stunfisk Brofisk.

Alright, I've updated the doc! I added some short comments on some sets, and some things to be reconsidered!

I'll add some of my own:

Luvdisc:

HP: 43 -> 73

Atk: 30 -> 30

Def: 55 -> 55

Sp. Atk: 40 -> 115

Sp. Def: 65 -> 65

Spd. 97 -> 104

Total: 330 -> 442

Type: Water -> Water/Fairy

Ability: No change.

TM Compatibility: +Psychic, +Shadow Ball

Moves:

Captivate L46 -> Moonblast L46

Flail L27 -> Dazzling Gleam L27

Take Down L37 -> Scald L37

So, I know Luvdisc is supposed to be a fast support, but that really don't seem to work for it, so instead I just went and gave it a major overhaul into a fast special sweeper. The aditional fairy typing fits with it's flavour, and I went ahead and gave it some fairy moves to go with it. Psychic and Shadow Ball via tm give it some extra coverage. And finally, 104 base speed puts it just bellow the 105 speed tier.

Chimecho:

HP: 65 -> 75

Atk: 50 -> 40

Def: 70 -> 120

Sp. Atk: 95 -> 95

Sp. Def: 80 -> 80

Spd. 65 -> 65

Total: 425 -> 475

Type: Psychic -> No Change

Ability: No change.

Moves:

Synchronoise L52 -> Recover L52

Double Edge L47 -> Wish L47

Take Down L19 -> Hypnosis L19

Psywave L16 -> Light Screen L16

I feel like Chimecho.. Really isn't a very interesting Pokemon as it is, so I've given it a very nice physical bulk, so that it can function as a bulky support. I've given it Wish, Hypnosis and Light Screen via level up as well to further this. And, in the case someone wants to run it as a stall kind of mon, it now has access to Recover as well. It retains it's pretty nice 95 Sp. Atk, so it can also be decent at bulky offense

So having two extra pokemon brings us to about 20 pokemon to consider, so I can start preparing the first release. However, I'll wait until tomorrow to actually release them, so that changes can be proposed to the pokemon already in this list, in order to balance them a little more, or discard them altogether (There's like 22 pokemon in the list iirc, and only 20 are going into the release.).

Feel free to submit new ones, but they probably won't be released until version 2.
